this reminds me of my best buddy who died in 2004 of heart attack at 26 yo. we were 2 in his bedroom in 2000 watching videos of all our fav Metal bands and of course Sepultura was one of them. he said, "one day, i'll have Max's guitar" to which i replied "i'll be your Iggor then". and we started to save money for that. End of 2001, we finally had the money and made our trip to Music store to buy our gear. BC Rich "Max's shape" for him and a Pearl kit for me. i'll always remember that specific crazy sound he had with this guitar because he had special strings. extra thick gauge and slick. he could get ultra low end without giving too much slack to the strings. he didn't like soft mushy grooved strings. and his strings were eliminating the zip zap sound from fingers sliding over. it sounded so clean and precise. whe we played Sepultura songs, it was sounding different but so nice at the same time. it was matching really well. men, i miss him so much. but, people who are obese, please seek help and lose that weight. it will kill you soon or late. he died because of that. cheers Metal fellas.
Igors performance on Arise really turned this band into something special. His china use and the drum fill in Dead Embryonic fills were like lightning bolts to me as a kid. Inspired
I couldn't agree more. From Morbid Visions to Arise albums, the band matured as musicians and as a unit. Most noticeable in Igors progression, night and day. Morbid is my #1 Sep. album so def not knocking the earlier work, by any mean because that shit was way ahead its time.
And here we are 2023 and the closest thing to a reunion is max and igor playing beneath the remains and arise in its entirety oct 6th I'll get to see it can't wait

Thats the problem with being a drummer. You have to put the same amount of effort in doing rehearsal as you do on stage, where as the rest of the band get to sit down and chill out a bit.

But the rest of the band remains more cool and fresh as they dont have to put their full effort every single time their playing their instrument

Although the addition of Andreas Kisser was a turning point mussicaly, I think another important step for Sep was the grand improvement of Igor's drumming...
They really came into their own around this time, but my favourite era will always be Morbid Visions because I was there when that came out and it was great.
Wow, this video proves that its not what kind of drum kit or guitar rig you have...look at Igor's kit. A bent up high hat, a couple cymbals and 3 drums (forgive me for not knowing specific names, I'm not a good drummer), and yet, he still sounds beastly. You cannot replicate badassery.

I remember seeing Igor and Max playing Beneath the Remains and Arise in their entirety almost two years ago now and at the end of their show they had the crowd chanting… “Verdadero Sepultura”
Sepultura is a really big influence for my drumming. Before I heard them I was listening to bands like Metallica, Guns n Roses, Pantera etc, then a friend gave me a listen to the Arise album and I was blown away. Igor's drumming style is amazing, very tribal influenced, very raw (especially with this drum fills). Definitely in my top 3 alongside the likes of Pete Sandoval and Dave Lombado.
Criminals in Uniform (CIU), the music that was supposed to be in the Arise album but never came out... Only in 1996, in a double Roots Cd Edition we (the Public) were allowed to hear this masterpiece. It was in the Arise Sessions but (I don't know why) it was never included in that 1991 Album. Amazing song, although here the video is cut. This Was Sepultura. Que Diferença meu Deus, para mim, acabaram em 1993 com o Chaos A. D., o último álbum de jeito deles. Obrigadão, valeu!!!

Met these guys on the "94" Chaos tour at festival hall Melbourne Australia . my ol man drove concert trucks for Show freight at the time so I got all access and met the boys , only i didn't see max i was shattered he must of been somewhere sharpening his warlock at the time . but I did see Zion and his mom he was cradled in her arms walking through the dressing room area . she had bright neon green hair at the time . this night will never be forgotten. Now Zion is an Icon like his dad wow the memory remains.
