When your mind is focused on God and on God only, you can’t focus on other’s defects. Sometimes it’s other people’s imperfections that highlights your vices. As an anxious introvert, spending time with my very loud and sinful family is a cross, and I realized I wasn’t patient enough. I have chosen to stay calm, accept their defaults, pray for them and spend more time with them while preaching and now they’re better catholics, praise the Lord. Or this one day I was deeply in adoration in front of the tabernacle and this lady came « whispering » her rosary super loud right next to me, I knew my patience was being tempted because I couldn’t focus well. So I have chosen to stay calm, especially in front of the tabernacle, and went back to my sit even though I would have loved to stay in the presence of my Lord a little more. Things like that, where I am being tested, make me a better catholic. I’m trying to be a saint, so I see temptation as a gift. You can’t wait for others to be perfect to be a saint. You have to accept their defaults and be patient. That’s how you change your vices into virtues. It’s always your will, your choice to overcome temptation and it only makes you spiritually stronger. Also, I’ve realized that I sin only when I am not thinking of Jesus. This is why contemplation is important. Think of Him all the time, especially when you’re tempted, and you won’t fall.
gitsum some of the members of my middle eastern family are agressive as well and it’s a lot of suffering. Back then, when I would not accept it, I ended up suffering from 7 years of depression. But now I think of the saints (St Thérèse of Lisieux, St Gemma) and how they asked to suffer because it purifies/sanctifies your soul. It can be a reparation for your past sins. For Thérèse of Lisieux, suffering is a gift. It’s collecting treasures for eternity because in heaven these sacrifices turn into joy you enjoy for eternity. More suffering on earth more joy in heaven (remember the 8 beatitudes). St Teresa of Calcutta said the true way to humility is accepting injustice. My parents are very severe and everything they say would make anyone angry. Sometimes it looks as if they act this way only to make me go crazy. But I just laugh and even ask for more of their unjust reprimands while trying to enjoy these like St Thérèse. Plus, they’re the family God gave me, I have to deal with it with respect and patience in order to help them become saints too. God is just and He will reward us for all these efforts. Finally, remember following Christ is following Him on the cross. An agressive family like St Rita’s husband, is a cross. Take it and embrace it, you’ll be rewarded. Think of saints, read their stories, most of them suffered and had multiple crosses.

Thank you Father Mike, you make great points as usual. When a noise begins to annoy me, I thank God for the ability to hear and within minutes, I am no longer annoyed. Even if the noise continues.
Something my confessor told me once was, I brought up the problem of me being annoyed by things and how I pray for patience, but it seems to never be enough. He told me I didn’t need to pray for patience rather for love. We need more love in our hearts, it’s been so life changing to pray with that! I hope this helps someone :)
He makes the most complicated things sound simple and ends the video by saying "maybe the wink is annoying." How can I be as simple as him? Love you Father.
Me too! Just got annoyed by a classmate, and this pop up in my feed. It's God's grace! After watching this video, I prayed Hail Mary 3 times and I felt so much better..! Thank you Fr Mike!
Ughh Fr. Mike how do you just know???!! The very thing that I struggle with on the daily only to realize that I have allowed the action instead of practicing patience or better understanding of why it has become annoying.
These videos come right when I need them. I have been praying and praying for an answer to the struggle I have with patience and it’s hard but it is a choice. God bless
I think my constant annoyance with others for various reasons is related to my lack of humility. A Priest told me about the Litany of Humility (a short prayer) to pray when I have these feelings.
@Deary Me Thank you for pointing out my shortcomings and lack of humility. I apologize to you and all others for my egotistical slant. As you can see, it is a constant battle for me!
Yes, I struggle terribly with pride and I am frequently annoyed with people. What I’ve come to learn is that my pride makes me feel as though people should treat me like a special princess. Therefore, if someone does something that bothers me, I’m like HOW DARE YOU!!!! I am the great princess of the land!!! Humility and therefore obedience are difficult for me.
"Why would I let that steal my peace? I can rise above it. I can exercise patience and understanding. I can do somth about it. Let it move it into something positive. That person SANCTIFIES me."
I am hyper aware of my kids' behavior in church. Several people have told me they enjoy seeing my family. However, 20+ years ago, I apologized to the elderly man behind me for the kids being rowdy. He chewed me out as if I was doing nothing to curb the wiggles. It has caused me to be more defiant about remaining in the church with my kids, and when I see other parents struggle, it causes me to offer up prayers for them to retain their patience and peace. And I have gone up to them to encourage them to keep bringing the kids. Eventually they learn.
I had a smile on my face the entire time that I watched... When people annoy you. Thank you for your words of wisdom, I will give it a try. YOU ROCK!! May God bless you and keep you healthy, safe and strong in body, mind and Spirit.
Father I canNOT picture you being easily annoyed! Lol oh my goodness you literally just described my experience being annoyed in Adoration with the annoying lip smacking 🤣🤣🤣 I needed your truth today🙏
My students would say “you are making me salty” 🤣. My husband and I use the term sanctifying when we annoy each other. And then I say-“thanks for making me Holy!”😇
Makes me think of a really interesting experience from a silent retreat. I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to receiving 'vibes' from others, and I don't know how much of that is kind of real chemistry and how much it's "just me". However, at this retreat there was another person who really got under my skin. Being on a retreat, I brought this up with God, and tried to transform the disturbance into a prayer for that person. But after a few days I almost began feeling stalked. It's like no matter where I went to pray, they'd show up soon after. So I began staying in my room to pray. The other person wasn't noisy or anything, their presence just got to me in a way that made it hard to me to focus. And I couldn't really bring it up, because it was a silent retreat and it would also be rude. Staying in my room was just the best option. But then the last full morning I noticed the other person arriving to breakfast just as I was leaving. So I immediately went to my favorite praying spot of the retreat center. A few minutes later, the other person was there, too, and at that point I really got annoyed. I saw them arrive to have breakfast but then they'd obviously changed their mind. Well, so I prayed a lot for that other person - again - to keep myself from getting all negative about it. And then, when the silence ended the next day, that person came to me and told me that they were so happy to see me again that morning that they'd decided to postpone breakfast to pray close to me: "You were nowhere to be found for several days, but I noticed the first days when we where always praying at the same places, that my prayers were so peaceful and rewarding. I really missed that and tried to find you, so I'm happy I finally did. I'm sure that God was leading me to you. Did you have the same experience?" That was a difficult question to answer because I didn't want to tell them that I got close to the point of feeling stalked and violated. I was relieved that I wasn't sending them "f*ck off"-vibes but it was a bit scary to learn that they'd followed me because I somehow enhanced their prayers while I basically just felt disturbed. So I guess that although I agree that we can choose how to react, we can't just choose how we feel - only how we deal with what we feel. And when we can feel annoyed by one person and not another one doing the same it might not be just a matter of our own choices but also some differences in these "vibes" between people.

So helpful for me today. Something just happened that made me annoyed at someone. You're right. I need to make a conscious choice to not be annoyed. Thanks so much!
Good advice Father! I have really worked on not getting annoyed by people who talk super fast, like a preteen at the mall, whom I can hardly understand, because they talk so fast that it sounds like mumbling.. I have decided to rise above it, and that is why I was able to listen to this very good advice! 👍🏼

God bless you Father Mike. My family and I are so blessed to hear your sermons and seminars over the past many months. Thank you for your intelligent, insightful and most spiritually moving talks that you do. As a mother with a child with cerebral palsy I have learned so much about patience and compassion. I am so blessed that God has put me on this path alongside my son. I have grown so much closer to the Lord since the moment he gifted me with Bryson and I will forever be grateful and know he is so very real. ✝️💜 Our God is Awesome!!!

I was so annoyed with my neighbour and listening to you, Fr Mike, just changed my perspective of the whole incident. You are right, allowing someone to annoy you is a choice, and I can do something about it. Thank you! God bless you!
I needed to hear this right now. Apparently, I annoyed someone at work when trying to help out the team during a stressful situation; the annoyed person spoke out against me in front of another coworker, who later told me that they did not like what the annoyed person said. It helps me to see it from my annoyed coworker's point of view, and it reminds me to rise above it and not allow it to take away peace. And I'm hopeful that it'll help sanctify me to move past it and continue to love my annoyed coworker. Great advice to carry in our daily lives! Thanks for making this video!
Woah, that's a really good topic to tell and lean, because as people that we are get annoyed by something so little is soo easy ,but we need to grow in patience, and tolerance of the things other people do using that for the better and growing on the lord.
Dear Father Mike! Thank you for this great video. Your point of having a choice to take a decision to not to be annoyed is really helpful for me. I missed one point though, and this is that we have a sponsor in heaven our best friend JC who we can ask for help in prayer to give us the strength to decide not to be annoyed. I think this helps with two things: (1) we get help in challenging moments and (2) we learn that it is not by our strength (alone) that we become saints. Maybe you said it and I missed it. I'm pretty sure you know that and live like that, but maybe not all of your viewers do. Greetings from Austria. Many blessings and keep up the great work. Really love your program.
I found myself coming back to this video a couple times as reminders for myself, I've found myself easily annoyed by people around me. Thanks Father Mike!
Can totally relate...I suffer from misophonia disorder. It was only triggered really by a certain way my mom would pronounce certain words. It absolutely killed me and I never told her because I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable around me, I loved her too much. Sometimes I couldn't help but express some kind of annoyance and I felt so horrible about it because I could tell she would notice. She never said anything about it. My mom passed away a month ago so I figure now she knows why and I've said sorry to her during my prayers for her soul on a few occasions. It is a horrible thing to have. Sometimes I wish she was still alive, well I wish she was still alive regardless, but I also wish she was still here to say certain words that triggered me so I could offer up the suffering I was feeling for something good. I think I wasted a lot of those opportunities. But I agree annoyance can be a choice, but having misophonia makes it EXTREMELY difficult. But yes, choosing not to be annoyed can be done at the end of the day.
Your mother loved you. She would not want you to think she's carrying anger about that. She's in a peaceful place now and all she is thinking of is her love for you.
Annoyance takes place as a way for God to reveal the imperfections in our lives... those things that we need to become aware when we’re not loving. Be aware of those situations and annoyance will go away. He will bring another annoyance for you to work on. This is a life long journey for us to see our imperfections. Without them we never grow in holiness.
Hahahahahaha I have so felt that way about mouth smacking or whispering too!!😂😂😂 Also annoys me when ppl play with their pens clicking them in and out a billion times! This is such a great way to change my perspective!
Thank you so much for another super super helpful talk. Love it. Using the times when I’m annoyed (which sadly happens a lot in my work) to ask God to use it to sanctify me. 💛🙏 Thank you 🙏 ☺️
As a former Buddhist now Catholic I feel compelled to share a technique I learned that helps a lot when I am annoyed. Meditate on the source of your annoyance without judgement. What does this mean? For example let’s say you’re stuck on a bus with a crying baby. Very annoying. But instead of fuming internally take a moment to close your eyes, clear your mind, and focus on the sound. Don’t label it good or bad. Don’t label it baby crying. Just hear it as a sound. It takes practice but will eventually help you to unlabel things as an annoying sound or other unpleasant sensation. Hope this helps someone. May the spirit of ecumenism unite us as brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Love your explanation, our Priest forgave when I made a huge mistake, soft spoken, patient, Father Mike, and our Priest are similar Shepherds…….Love your ministries Thank you Father Mike….
To add on to the points in the video, I think the reason why certain people annoy us so much is because they remind ourselves of a version or part of our self that we don't like. Letting go of the feelings of self-hate or accepting those who annoy us for they are is a great step towards self-healing and personal growth.
Thank you for this. I needed it. I truly think I’m affected by misophonia and happen to be married to someone who is just noisy for no reason; chews with mouth open, rattles the ice in his glass with every sip, smacks his lips after every sip, yawns loudly, etc. I’m annoyed with anyone who does this but living with it drives me nuts! 😂😂😂
Well, wasn’t this the perfect topic as we are all in the Twilight Zone of Coronavirus! Luckily, I can escape upstairs to create jewelry. My hubby goes biking, running or puttering in his garage fixing bikes. When he first retired, I had a big problem with annoyance. I could have used this video back then!
Sometimes I felt like Father mike is my guardian angel. He hears my prayers and giving me the response through ascension presents words of wisdom.. Thank you father mike ❤

Thank you Fr. Mike! ❤❤❤
You speak about all things that concern humans and do it in such a funny way...May The Lord pour all His Blessings on you.
Father you taught me a lesson today📝. Will follow ✝️your guidance 🌹. Thank you Father Mike🙏. God bless you💒.
Thank you... Fr Mike ✝️🙏🏻
Thanks father i needed to hear that. god bless. We love you.
Such great advice to rise above...not easy, but nothing ever worth it is...
Is there a way not to get annoyed at an action with Misophonia? I think I have it too and I hate mouth noises and it angers me so much that it hurts…
Your mother loved you. She would not want you to think she's carrying anger about that. She's in a peaceful place now and all she is thinking of is her love for you.
Thank you Father Mike I love it!🌻♥️
Hi fr. Mike so good to hear u now and then. Ú r so practical. The talks r so very practical and inspiring. Thanks father.
Thank you Fr. Mike
Appreciate your time & videos
Blessings
Annoyance takes place as a way for God to reveal the imperfections in our lives... those things that we need to become aware when we’re not loving. Be aware of those situations and annoyance will go away. He will bring another annoyance for you to work on. This is a life long journey for us to see our imperfections. Without them we never grow in holiness.
Thank You Father I needed to hear this today.
This video made me feel better, I thought I was the only one that get annoyed and is trying to work on it.
God bless you father Mike!!!!!!
Hahahahahaha I have so felt that way about mouth smacking or whispering too!!😂😂😂
Also annoys me when ppl play with their pens clicking them in and out a billion times! This is such a great way to change my perspective!
Thank you Fr Mike. I needed this! God bless
As a person that struggles with anger...thank you
Thank you God🙏🏻 for Father Mike.
Great message. So enjoyed your humorous rambling at the end. As we say in our family, you’re a mess! 😆. God bless you!
Exactly, when you are annoyed, it's not them it's you.
Not really, if people are being annoying directly towards you like a girl trying to wear you down to date them for example, then no.
@@Iamcrownedsincethe90sWell you don't have to date them. Give it God, renew your mind. Practice Christian mindfulness and meditation
😳 Wow! I need to watch this many times. Thanks Father Mike 😊
Thank you!! I struggle with this and question why I am annoyed at these petty things!
The best way to deal with annoying people is to ignore so you don't enable them to be annoying.
Advice I needed.... thank you. And something I need to work on. I am not there yet but I will try.... thank you Father Mike.
Great message dear Father.
Thank you Father Mike!
"why would I let THAT steal my peace". I may have to get a tattoo with that, And I don't do tattoos. Lol
Inspiring as always ! Thank you Ascension Presents Team for always teaching me a lot of useful and amazing things. My favorite channel!
