Cities Skylines Industries:
In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.
Key Features:
- MAKE IT HAPPEN
Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
- CAPTAIN YOUR OWN INDUSTRIES
Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.
- BUILD IT UP, BUTTERCUP
New industrial buildings include Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings, Industrial Props and Roads. Unique Factories, such as Food, Toy, Furniture, Car and Electronics produce luxury products, and require a large number of workers, water and electricity as well as input from your industries.
- SHIP IT
Manage traffic and logistics with industrial warehouses and the use of the new Cargo Services including a cargo airport.
GO POSTAL
Boost your citizens’ well-being with mail delivery and collection services. Post sorting facilities handle mail between outside connections and the post offices, and new Post Van and Truck vehicles enable the carriage.
- WONK HARD
Three new Industry Policies and four City-wide Policies, including Workers’ Union, Sorting, Tolls, Wi-Fi, Logistics, Work Safety and Automation.

Hey Biffa, I have a city which is quite good but I have a massive problem in trafik and I tried weeks to fix it:

Would be awsome if you could show me how to fix it

Not enough traffic. The center always has a place where it doesnt move.
There was a lot of "bigger roads don't necessarily help traffic flow" in today's lesson. If you didn't believe it, this would show you. 👍👍👍 Great vid, Biffa! Love the final cinematic.

Yes, I loved that comparison. If it wasn't too much work I'd love to see that in other videos.
Definitely sets your videos apart from other city fixers videos
I wonder how it's done?
Love how you are consistent with your main tips and you can clearly see the results!
1. Lane Mathematics - simple and highly impactful
2. Round-a-bouts - helps the flow
3. There is always time to relax and sip some tea!
3. Especially if you can pause the game. XD
4. Horky borky.
5. Priority signs + "you-can-go-straight-through" thing
6. Alternate types of transport that take vehicles off the roads (foot, metro, train, ferry, maglev, etc) - buses can help, if used right since they compress road vehicles down from dozens into few, ditto trams
7. Extra road soaks for heavy cargo areas
He needs to change almost all the 6 lane one way roads to 4 lane 2 way and ha,f the roundabouts aren’t needed. The traffic has to drive so much further to get anywhere in the city that it’s artificially increases the traffic. One way everywhere with 6 lanes everywhere doesnt work people.... and biffa sticks a 2 lane roundabout at the end... lane mathematics lol
I'm watching the same thing happen over and over again, but it doesn't get boring...
It's just the sight of traffic solving itself that is so satisfying to look at.
It's like a road porn of sorts.
if you start feeling bored, just take a roundabout and go straight on through just to keep things moving, and very soon, things will start clearing up
Same. Not sure why this guy popped up in my recommended videos but for some reason, I keep watching lol
Same lol. I didn't even play the game, but one of his videos popped up in my recommended. I subbed and watched his videos for over a week before i ended up buying the game.
@@lewsee5562

Tell people to stop using 6 lane one ways. They usually don't help at all but rather make everything worse, especially with roundabouts. They also make the city look quite bad, if they are spammed around for so many roads.
6 lane is okay when they actually separate back into 6... I use it at the tail end of my cargo docks and separate it into a 4 lane and 2 lane highway
Imagine 4 six lane roads 2up 2down (2 way 24 Lane roads)
There were so many lane management problems you didn't touch, no doubt because of wanting to fix as much as possible with the lightest touch. I can see why now, that flyover at the end was absolutely brilliant showing how little you changed and how much the traffic improved.
I was driving home and yelled at someone to "quit chauka blockin and horky borky lane switching and go straight on through". He was trying to give me the old jiggery-pokery.. oh my goodness me!

I BEG YOUR PARDON? *monocle falls from face*
"…it's roundabouts, and metro, and…"
Ah, good show, do carry on.
🧐
Most European cities have junctions that are relatively close, but they still have smooth traffic. Here’s how:
1. Roundabouts: They help smooth traffic
2. Pedestrian roads(e.g promenades) and paths: Most cities have pedestrian dedicated roads(yes, the zonable ones you get from Network Extensions) and paths providing short routes to commercial/office zones.
3. Public Transportation: Public transportation is virtually everywhere in most cities in Europe. Whether it’s buses, metro, tram or commuter rail (trains in Cities: Skylines), there’s always at least one mode of public transportation
Limited Parking Spaces: This forces most citizens to rely on public transportation instead of cars, improving traffic flow.
However, this is a very brilliant fix, especially for American cities (they depend on private cars). If you’re working on a European city though, you’ll need to take public transportation as a big part of your traffic fix since European cities depend on public transportation instead of private cars.
Yes, force people to not use cars and the traffic will improve. Congratulations.
@@Yanate1991 Yes exactly

@@Yanate1991 Europe has growing far-right because capitalism has been in an unresolved crisis since 2007/8. If anything the superior access to public transport (relative to the USA) is a moderating factor because of how much it improves quality of life.
I love how you've added cinematic looks of the before and after, sometimes I wish you would nuke *certain* areas of the city but I know you're just trying to help the people who built it to understand what went wrong!
Biffa, you are right! - The opposite sense of rotation or revolution is (in North American English) counterclockwise (CCW) or (in Commonwealth English) anticlockwise (ACW)
I have always preferred the old word for anti-clockwise - Widdershins.
:-)
@@darrenhemingway7121 I though the old word for anti-clockwise was "No, the other way, yer eejit"
Maap - heard that often enough, along with the all time favourite... "- the other left.."
Clearly the opposite of clockwise is clockfoolish.
That flyover comparison edit at the end is brilliant, Biffa.

I really liked the before and after effect you did at the end. Shows what you changed and what the traffic was like before. Super neat. Also love the time lapse of busy interchanges. Relaxing to watch the cars.
this is currently my favorite channel! Great work man. the "Before/After" sequence at the end is great!
This before/after cinematic looks incredible. The good thing about the small cities is that small changes boost the traffic instantly. Metro is a must ALWAYS. Your tips about lane mathematics really do help Biffa, thanks a lot for this video.
The end montage was great, really helped show exactly what you did, thanks for sharing!
I really liked the pre-fix and post-fix view at the end. Great touch to an already great video👍
Nice fly over at the end, mixing start and end
Thanks! Matt Q :-)
you should do this in all of your next fixes. It was really really cool to look at
Anticlockwise and counterclockwise are both acceptable forms of the phrase. STOP RAGGING ON BIFFA!!😂
Edit: LET HIM SIP HIS TEA IN PEACE!!
If he's going to say 'counter' clockwise, they'll still say it's wrong. He's got to say counerrrr clockwise to keep the yanks happy.

Try Nonclockwise

No, “widdershins”.
anticlockwise = brits
counterclockwise = yanks

I don’t understand why there’s toll booths in a city with unlimited money. Get rid of them and the traffic will improve too
I think the city was originaly built without the infinite money and he converted it so that he can add what he wants without precautions and having to wait for income, or it has been built with infinite money and he wants to add realism.
I've heard that tolls make only traffic that needs to enter the city go through the city roads, as without them, traffic that just wants to pass through the map may go through the city as a "shortcut" however only makes city traffic worse. Toll booths filter this traffic.
This somehow popped up on my UA-cam feed, and I'd actually quit playing this game because the traffic seemed impossible. You really did a good job of breaking down somewhat unintuitive traffic problems and fixes -- I immediately redownloaded the game on Steam and am excited to play again. Thanks for this content!
You're welcome 👍 😊
I've only been playing the game a couple days and all over the Reddit they talk about TMPE...it has something to do with traffic, maybe? But you showing how it all works around 11-12min is AMAZING! Just a few tweaks and everything starts moving! And then again at 19-21 with the roundabout builder and lane management! Wowza! Love it!
That was probably one of the best turnarounds ever! That city went from clogged to seamless.
I have wondered since the first vid i watched. Is the sound that comes with the logo of a crank of some kind or thee in a cup being stirred?
Stirring my Tea and tapping the tea spoon at the end :-)
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines thanks for the anwser. Now i can sip my own thee in peace while watching your vids.
After 2 years off due to annoyance of the traffic flow, I have just found this gem of a guide. I think I might redownload the game tomorrow and use this to give it another go. Thank you!! Top class work xx
The montage at the end was awesome! Really liked seeing all the different red areas become beautiful and traffic free!
Best part of your videos is when the population start growing again! You know thats mean you're doing a good job
Me: Doesn't play for over 2 years
Also me at 3AM: Interesting...
Holy heck, i've never seen this channel before but you've earned yourself a subscriber. I could not figure out my city's traffic problems at all. But making all of these small changes that you showed has gotten my trafficflow up to 70% instead of the usual 10.
Thank you!
You're welcome :-)
Wow! This has to be one of your best fixes ever, and with just a few simple principles. Since my city hit 100,000, traffic is becoming an issue (69%), but now I'm going to take another look and give it the Biffa treatment!
18:30, there is something at the next junction, there was no need for such a big roundabout.
And by the way for the city: Six Lane Roundabouts are way to much lanes, Jesus.
Wind turbines right next to the airport runway?
Sure, why not.
what could possibly go wrong
Helps to get wind under the wings of the planes, lmao.
This was a fantastic video! I especially love the smooth before and after shots at the end.. PERF. *applause* yo!
I'm new to this game but I'm learning a lot from your videos and I'm loving the complexity of building cities 😍 keep the great job 👊
4:20 but Biffa Senpai, you have shown us that changing road type also creates crossings, even without changing number of lanes. Imma disappoint
Sometimes he has the Crossings mod on to make mid-block crossings, but not in this video. Would've been good though.
@@baileyyordnoff2409 he doesn't mean that. what he means is this: take a stretch of road, let's say a 2 lane with trees, and change one part of road into a different kind of road, let's say 2 lane with grass. at the beginning and ending of the 2 lane with grass, there will be pedestrian crossings
@@jez0rvonnazaroth619 I realize that, but a more aesthetically pleasing way that he's done in the past is use the Crossings mod to make a mid-block crossing without odd intersections or changing road types.
@@baileyyordnoff2409 He could use street without trees or with trees on the sides and it would look more realistic. Crossing part of the street should be different because of the safety and car slowing...
I love to See how biffa is fixing cities. Its better than any bedtime Story :) very very nice
Thank you Alex Eck :-)
loved the slip lane being moved b4 the toll. get em in their pockets. the b4 & after flyover is the coup de grace. nice job.
Hello Biffa,
watching till some time your "Fixing your City in Cities:Skyline". One friend of me, buyed the game, because he watched with me some videos of you. He build a city, got the traffic to roundabout 40% and i helped him, with the fixes you do every time and got his traffic back to 95%. And it was a huge fun, to do that, fixing a city. I'm a bit jealous of you, doing that now and then :) Hope you make some more of these videos, because it's relaxing to view these videos and so much to learn.
I've watched a few traffic management videos but this is definitely the easiest one to understand for a quick fix. the traffic in this game actually kind of ruined the game for me for a bit, but now I'm ready to give it another go. thanks for the vid!
Have you ever tried digging a canal down a hillside, put dams in the canals, and supply it with sewage instead of a water source?
You are the Yoda of CS! Loved watching you fix this!
The before/after at the end was the icing on the cake with your cup of tea! Great addition.
"I'd like you to explain why we should build a mass-transit system in a small town with a centralized population" (Lisa Simpson)
This city in a nutshell :
- Big roads when not needed
- Junctions too close to each other
- Lack of true main roads in some places
- Bad lane mathematics inside the city (six lane one way going into 2 lanes...)
Some cities I'm honestly not sure how people build them so badly. They seem to think that using 6 lane one-way roads constantly is good. And then look at 27:05. Was it really so difficult to put in a nice curved road from one junction to the next?
@@danielsanders6959 as a ps4 cities skylines player: *YES*
really wish i had a pc to make this stuff but no, just road after road being filled with traffic
I don't play this game but it is so satisfying, to watch you fix it all. I like that there is no profanity. Keep up the good work. Bless you and your family.
This is by far the most satisfactory city fix episode I have seen. A job very well done 👍👏
Imagine driving your car and all of a sudden the road just disappears from beneath you
Love your vids, biffa! Cheers.
I'm looking forward to more CS vids that dont just focus on traffic. Lord knows how you get office blocks to level 5, for example. :)
Satisfying to watch man! Nice job over there
Great job Biffa! Love the before/after view at the end
"Lane mathematics"
Stuff we actually see in many highway systems, considering these sort of thing is very similar to IRL system in the UK, so you just need to drive around the country to see it.
Also, Euro Truck Simulator 2 seems to be somewhat realistic besides the distance/time compression to experience the roads in Europe. So you can "experience" in a fun way (better then Google Street View voyeuring).
Good ol‘ lane-mathematics get the job done
Indeed :-)
This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen yet to manage traffic. Lane mathematics is straight up magic, wow.
I've always had problems with traffic on highways and coming into the city- and now, after this video, I think I know some reasons why. Can't wait to launch up the game, use some of the things I learned, and probably still have terrible traffic somehow!
The huge toll roads are rather too much for the game AI, they won't really use the full size anyways so it's always better to use the toll roads with the same lane count as the road you putting it on. Also making sure the automatic toll roads thing will help out a lot to speed things up a bit. The ideal location I use is where the highways come in to your city meaning the very outer limits. This keeps the traffic to a minimum but the downside is that you need to make sure electricity and water is available which may cost you a lot to even add it in.
Anticlockwise is correct biffa, Americans just have a different word but both are correct.
Bring back “widdershins” tho
You did a good job on this one indeed. Comes to show once more that bigger roads do not mean a better flow :)
It is funny that I often in spare time after work rather watch you fix cities than to play the game myself. (although I intend to play it myself again of course ^^)
Biffa... great video as always! At 4:20, you add a side street by a train station to create a crosswalk. Why not just swap one small section of the existing roadway for one, say, with grass instead of trees. That would do the trick and allow you to place the walk directly in front of the station or the path coming from the Metro. 😊
Biffa: Sometimes the solution isn't just roundabouts.
Me: Yes, we also need ovalabouts.
Call it widdershins instead of counterclockwise to really irritate people.
haha and deosil
Epic fix! Loved the before-after part, well made! :)
So satisfying. Keep up the good work!
The amount of one way roads in this city really annoyed me lol. Anyways great fix Biffa.

Same here! I never actually was much for this type of videos, but I just love the way Biffa plays the game, and fixes traffic. I actually started a new game because of it. I hadn't played in a long wile, because I was always so annoyed withe the f...ing traffic. Now I now how to avoid it. ( Most of the time ;-))
Biffa- the nicer gamer version of Gordon Ramsey 👌

The before/after shots at the end were very well done!
Always enjoy watching your city fix videos... and that you have went to more than just adding those dang ugly circles, that take up so much room... yea I dislike roundabouts, IRL and in game. Watching you add unneeded roundabouts, when traffic just wants to make a simple turn, always inspires me to come up with other solutions.
Traffic management is not just about flow, which in a 20,000 city is quite easy to get to 90%...It is about getting people to their destination.
I used to be lazy with metro, and just build the metro loops, like you did in this video. I have found with experimentation in the same city, that the hub and spoke method moves more cims, and reduces surface traffic better.
Ive found a mixture of both works, have spokes running out and a loop around certain suburbs. Trams to soak up traffic in low density areas
Way to many 6 lane one way roads... just get the rules right and you can do with just 2 or 3 lanes both way.
Very nice fix!
"Anti clockwise, or counter clockwise if you're going to correct me about that"
Ahem. Widdershins.
two way, 4 lane roundabouts, they work incredibly well, build them above ground, below ground, big with multiple nodes, small with 4 nodes, can add monorails, trams to these and replicate the massive mini roundabout large roundabouts around Britain. They work, added that bicycle lane down the middle of the city and wow it works with my underpass pathway network so in theory 75% of my city has the need to cross a road, removed. Keep up the great work Biffa.
Thank you for more meditative traffic fixes!
The traffic in this game is so unrealistic. Resorting people to design ridiculous roads.
