I think people just learn a few combat "rules" (i.e. hands up) and whenever they see anything that challenges that, they want to let everyone know that they know better. Weird phenomenon that happens when you mix the internet with martial arts... er, *anything* for that matter.

All good tips. The handcuff punches reminds me of a Tyson interview in the 80's maybe 90's, him saying the knock out punch is 2 punches that sound like 1.
Highly recommend eliminating any telegraph of your punches. Was sparring some ex fighter in Thailand, and he would counter my left jab so easily. After the sparring he told me he knew when I would throw my left jab because I would slightly lower my left shoulder.
Here’s a big tip everyone seems to ignore even though all famous boxers know about it, THROW WITH BAD INTENTIONS. You’re not trying to lightly hit the bag and get some combos, you want to knock out the bag. It’s the mentality that helps the boxers capabilities.
@@alliii835Not every punch needs to be full power :) . Halving the distance to SOME of your crosses disrupts the timing on their parry. Mix that with some feints and your shots just become 3x less predictable

Boxing is one thing that no matter who gives the advise, no matter what that advice is, someone will always oppose it and offer their two sense. You sorta just have to pick who to listen to based off what you know about them and their fighting experience. Really all that matters is you win. So do what works best to make that happen for you.
I've never heard that last tip refered to as handcuff punches before and even googling it, nothing comes up, but it'd an interesting one that I would like to learn more about. I see Mike Tyson using it for his jabs when shadowboxing and I don't completely understand why, I thought he used it naturally to generate more power in his jab and maybe also as like a parry ( to parry opponents jab at the same time as shooting his own jab out)
I think about the end of my punch where my hand is already back in Gaurd and i try to get to that as fast as possible not focusing on my arm and punch itself as much this works Only for people with good technique And muscle memory already set up If you do combos try to focus on the last punch you'll execute and get to it fast as possible this is not a perfect explanation but the main thing is not to focus too much on the current state of your body cuz it slows you down Punch as if its a button in your brain one whole movement from ONE thought Its hard to grasp but thats my way of doing it
Can you do a video on avoiding being too stiff. I try to be loose everytime but I always retract to being stiff again. My coach tells me I’m so stiff that I move like a penguin robot
This is a long comment but I came across your shorts yesterday and saw this youtuber commenting that Shane is a “0-0 pro”. Basically discrediting Shane as a legitimate source of knowledge because he has no professional fights under his belt which is weird cuz he’s fought in Thailand at least once. I think that claiming just because someone isn’t a professional in the field DOES NOT mean they don’t study the field and that they don’t know jack shit about anything. That’s so bogus of that one UA-camr because for example, almost everything I’ve learned in life growing up was from my Dad. He taught me almost everything I know and he’s not a professional archer, ex military rifleman, toilet maintenance guy, dish washer, or even a ex pro fighter. Yet he taught me how to shoot a bow, guns, how to treat people, how to carry myself with respect, wash dishes, fix toilets, and so much more. And another example, I love soccer and I spent my high school years watching people who AREN’T pros teach me how to shoot, pass, dribble, etc. If the pros don’t have youtube channels to teach us, then who else is gonna teach us? You can still have love and expertise in a field you’re not professionally in. Geezus people get a fucking grip in life and stop putting other people down. Keep up the hard work Shane. Been following you for years since I was 14 and you’ve inspired me to join an MMA gym.
its like staying in position while relaxing your muscles to a point where moving them costs less energy then when you tighten them. basicly whenever you feel like your stiffened up focus on relaxing your arms and shoulders but still keep your hands where they were before.
The 2nd and 4th tip are detrimental you keep your power hand beside your head for defensive reasons and the whip and momentum of your power shot. Handcuff punching is useless unless you're trying to point it out for the win.
The handcuff punches look and sound stupid. But they work, you did it very awkwardly and stiff but in a fight, it comes out a lot more fluid. It usually works if the first punch lands, I think of it as a “double tap”
A good example of a creative angle using the handcuff punch is canelo. I was watching one of his bag drills the other day from the fight before bivol and the handcuff timing is off beat or excuse me it’s like a 1/16th rhythm versus a 1/8 and so he used his lead hand to swipe guard down and his left to land but the sound it made wasn’t like POP POP it was like PO-POP.
Okay lots and lots of videos like these and training drills shorts, some jiu Jitsu grappling and escape tricks and I’m good to defend myself from street thugs and immature bullies. Forget mma fighters I’m On my journey to become fast and strong like Bruce Lee alone at home training.
I used to hit the maze ball the speed ball with bungees on both sides I used to try do the biggest punches as fast as i could before it rebounded which was pretty fast you gotta learn to return your punches fast aswell. then circle around at the same time to work on your stability
I literally cannot “wip the towel “ With my left jab, every time I try to my shoulder literally slips out of place, it rolls really weird and then it feels like my muscles tear and it is absolutely excruciating
Everyone dumping on the handcuff punch before they even try it in a spar is so incredibly laughable to me. Paper warriors never cease to amaze me.

Fantastic. Also, this is almost exactly the same as in decent kung-fu. Good techniques are good techniques. Great videos.

Perhaps. I think someone who can find the proper reason and timing for it can probably fit it in nicely to their game plan.
@@bigrick8987 nate never does a handcuff punch , look at his straight left 2s that he land ........ He goes all the way from chin to target
The handcuff punch is odd, but I'll give it a shot.
The jab is a lead the cross is power they are in tandem practice slowly execute swiftly.
Not odd just opened you up to get hit

Punch as if its a button in your brain one whole movement from ONE thought
Its hard to grasp but thats my way of doing it
Shadow boxing with weights and sparring in 18-20oz gloves is probably the best for hand speed
I like to throw the right cross just a split second before the jab even lands so it’s already on the way by the time my jab hits. 👊
Also not forget. The footwork and defence when. Throwing quick
For a faster jab just try ball and chain it’s a karate styled jab but it’ll slightly improve your speed
If you are a beginner do not do the last one😭
Learning how to be loose and snapping your punches with proper form will help in getting faster punches
"3 tips insulin to increase the speed of your punches..." that's how it sounded to me

The handcuff punch is a trademark nate diaz thing

Tip 3. How do you stay calm/relaxed? It's one im struggling with
its like staying in position while relaxing your muscles to a point where moving them costs less energy then when you tighten them. basicly whenever you feel like your stiffened up focus on relaxing your arms and shoulders but still keep your hands where they were before.
I like it the cut the distance in half but aren’t you open to counters?
Travels half the distance, looses half the power
When I inch my hands towards the target and my coach uses the opportunity to land a fat hook
Ive never heard of it being called the handcuff technique, only been told to make 2 punches sound like one, but i like that analogy as well 👌🏽.
