    I am from Norway and remember the accident very well. It was on the news every single day for several days. I have watched the documentary many times, equally impressed as I was moved by the group of friends who dived in secret to retrieve their deceased friends. The police never opened a case for the illegal diving and no one was charged or convicted. Everyone understood that they wanted to get their friends out. A great video with the production quality of Blue World.

    What an adventure! I appreciate the way you highlighted the safety precautions you were taking, such as doing a test dive to see if you could handle the cold. You do some crazy daredevil dives, but you never encourage people to follow in your footsteps without adequate training and safety policies.

    I watched the documentary with my dad when it came out. I remember him telling me about it and how we should watch it. I never thought BlueWorld would dive it! This is hands down one of my favorite cave dive segments yet, and I love that you explored the dry section of the cave as well. So fascinating!!

    • @BlueWorldTV
      @BlueWorldTV  Рік тому +4

      Thanks Raymond! We had so much fun. The cave itself is really only dangerous in the super deep section. The part we did was not terribly deep (barely more than 100 feet) and spacious. It's just COLD! And going in through the ice adds an element of adventure. We went in the winter because it was more of an adventure to dive through the ice, but we had also heard that the water is clearer. When we arrived, Ina told us that the water is about the same visibility all year around. But it's cold all year around too. It was fun! And I expect to see some cool adventures from your big Hawaii trip!

      They make scrubbers that have syntactic foam insulation if you really want to do long dives in cold water. For a couple hours, the standard scrubber on a sidewinder will last longer than I will. If I had heated undergarments and was prepared to do 4-6 hours in the water, I think you would want the insulated scrubbers.

    • @Teampegleg
      @Teampegleg Рік тому +1

      The Sidewinder isn't CE certified as far as I know yet, but that only limits sales not usage. You just need to buy it outside the EU. XDeep's owner bought KISS and is working on CE certification.

    Lol. good example.
    I wouldn't suggest such caves for any tourist, only advanced cave divers.
    good thing you had support for the weather conditions might of been alot more extream and or difficult. That plura van look liked it struggled. next time having a truck is more respectful. lesson learned.
    maybe the summer might a better for first timers, and also mentioning to the small town locality that you and a group of people are going to explore the cave and create some sort of
    "in case of emergency" expression that are open to be pre-alerted and ready for particular service reactions.
    thanks jonathan bird for sharing a video of such awesome cave diving places
    ❤️🤍💙

    Jonathan here's where I'd love my full face mask! Of course I guess they don't make a FFM rebreather system yet right? I used to paddle whitewater in the dead of winter, the water was always warmer than the outside air. But this looks insane!

    Sorry chaps, but Pozo Azul was already nearly 10 km long by 2013 with 3 sumps, and 4 was passed that year.
    Its also worth adding the rescue divers you mentioned didn't stop because they thought it was too dangerous they were given quite strict limits by the Norwegian authorities and as the official team, they couldn't break them. Im quite good friends with the rescue controller, who gave up diving after this as he got tired of pulling out bodies. The two official rescue divers were Rick Stanton and John Volanthen, you might recognise their names from another rescue in Thailand so their not ones to give up when it gets a bit grim.

      We are aware of the nitty gritty details, but this video is not about telling that story. There was a whole documentary about it. We needed to summarize the back story in about a minute.

    Very beautiful but to me you guys are superhuman and a different breed. Do you think that the heating suit under the outer suit is effective? How long would it maintain the heat and do you feel it's something that should become more popular and a requirement for diving in freezing temperatures underwater? Excellent video guys 👍🌊🩵🥽

    • @BlueWorldTV

      The people who do this kind of diving all the time have very effective heated suits. They require a lot of power, so they have to carry some pretty big battery packs.

      @@BlueWorldTV Ah I see how that could be cumbersome perhaps dangerous when maneuvering through different angles. It would be great if some time in the near future a smaller more compact battery pack could be developed. Thanks for your reply 🩷🌸
