  • In this video I install a Mishimoto radiator into my XT forester after discovering my old radiator had failed. I apologies for the over exposed shots in advanced, but enjoy the video.

    Nice. I really enjoy these install videos. All this stuff that I normally wouldn't consider doing myself looks pretty easy when you show and explain. It annoys me that Subaru makes part of the radiator out of plastic. Seems like an inevitable failure at some point.

      Thank you! I’m personally getting sick of install videos and just want to explore, but when stuff brakes it’s a perfect opportunity to upgrade! Unfortunately I think it’s standard practice for most OEM radiators to have plastic components as they are cheaper to build.

      @@ignitionoffroad5028 Haha, for sure, you need to get out on the tracks. That's a LOT more fun to film. I hope you guys start getting some leeway soon.

    Cool mod! That radiator looks like twice the capacity.
    I also need to invest in a burp funnel. The kind that lock to the radiator cap. I made a huge mess when swapping radiators for the Baja.
    The plastic end does indeed crack with age/miles. The VDC Donor was cracked and leaking at around 17 years old.

      I don’t know why I haven’t invested in a funnel yet. It’s a cheap tool that does a great job. One day I will get one and stop making a mess...

      Great advice! I have found some leaks around the top hose clamps. Replaced them with better clamps and it’s all good now!

    Wow, the cooling capacity of the aluminium radiator must be huge. I was surprised with the extra thickness that it fitted with the cooling fans in place - effortlessly it appears.
    Can anyone comment on the 4AT in turbo SH's?

    • @ignitionoffroad5028
      @ignitionoffroad5028  4 роки тому +1

      Yes was a great fit! Quite tight between the radiator fans and drive belts now, but enough clearance that everything runs smooth.

    Hi there mate,
    Thank you for the great vid, love your car. Hey with your experience do you think this rad would fit the non turbo model?? Keep those vids coming and stay kool friend.

    • @ignitionoffroad5028
      @ignitionoffroad5028  4 роки тому

      The radiator will definitely fit both turbo and no turbo. There’s just one or two additional lines you may have to plug in your case, but should be easy to do.

    Any problems yet with the new radiator? And would you recommend it? As I’m looking to upgrade to mishimoto radiator?

    • @ignitionoffroad5028
      @ignitionoffroad5028  3 роки тому +1

      I’m not entirely convinced with it to be honest. Works great at speed but when I’m crawling around there doesn’t seem to be enough airflow to cool it properly. I’m going to look at upgrading the fans and see how that goes.
