    My POCD has gotten really bad in the past 6 months and it's gotten to the point where I feel convinced it's not OCD and I'm "attracted" to what I fear and it's so so scary. I'm going to a therapist soon but I'm not sure if he knows the full extent of how bad my OCD is and I'm scared that he'll say it's not OCD despite many other therapists telling me they think it's OCD..

    Can ocd manipulate your feelings towards people you're having intrusive thoughts about (harm thoughts) and make you feel as if you hate them even if they are loved ones???

    • @divyark5936
      @divyark5936 3 роки тому +9

      Yes but in a different way, it tries to convince you that you don't love them like you used to, you don't care about them, at some instances make you say something that you would never say, through anxiety, and then it says to you, "see I told you, you don't love them anymore, you're very bad", and then you start to feel convinced, but remember the brain knows your fears and it's playing games, Don't let it make you think you hate you loved ones, or love your enimies, it does make you feel like that, tries to convince you with small incidents, makes you do very small things through anxiety and then says, "told you, you don't love them or you like your enimies, you are like those people who harmed you/ your loved ones".

    Hi Ali. I think I also suffer from BDD along with severe OCD. Are they related or just me? Can you please share some solutions?

    • @shaki5146
      @shaki5146 3 роки тому +1

      Hi there, I also suffer from BDD in addition to OCD. I have had OCD since childhood and the BDD came along later. I understand the suffering. They are pretty closely related if you look at the obsessions and compulsions involved. Ali's advice for OCD also works for BDD. If possible, I would recommend seeking CBT for your bdd and perhaps even seeing your GP. It's a very tricky one because I find a day where my BDD is less severe, my OCD becomes a lot worse. I hope my advice was somewhat helpful. Best wishes x

    Can saying “Oh this is just OCD“ become a compulsion or is it ok to say that?

  • @gabrielasv5169
    @gabrielasv5169 3 роки тому +3

    I don t know if this is a good question, but i really feel i need to understand this. I made a horrible mistake in the past and now my ocd makes me think about that and ruminate about this. There is nothing I can do about that mistake and I can t go back in the past either. So it makes me feel guilty and think about it over and over again. I can t say “this is not true” etc. Because it is. How should I deal with this?

    • @jianecustodio9353

      Thats what i feeling now,i made mistake because of my thoughts that i didnt know what ocd is that time. Its ruminate the bad things i did, it tells me what the bad thing can happen to the bad thing i did. But i realize this thoughts are not real hmm maybe it exist but only on your mind!The fear you feel when its ruminating always remember fear means False Evidence Appearing Real, means its just false thought appearing real on your mind... Your gonna feel better to. Im not yet recovered but looking forward to it :)

      @nellie8911 3 роки тому

      Moreover, your past is your past, as long as you know you won't do it again it's okay. Mistakes are here to teach :) you can't control your past anyways, just let it go and try to live a better future ^^ if you feel guilty it means you have understood that it's not good and you won't do it again 😊
