Yeah, until Hefner dumped her, which he eventually did with all his girlfriends when he was tired of them. Then no more limos, rich lifestyle for Benton. She was apparently embittered about it, and got back at Hefner by writing a mediocre country music song called, "Brass Buttons" in which she called Hefner "The Devil." Nothing like a woman scorned....

Great performance. Don't care for the "Playboy" association and that line they gave Susan about being Ms February chilled me. Kinda creepy overtone and out of character for the Cowsill vibe imo.

Quite 'thoughtful " of him , if you agree im correct about all this ..

The Cowsills were uber talented but as music styles changed and they aged the family angle did not work as well. Some of the older Cowslips wanted to be Jefferson Airplane hip but that was never going to happen. The Cowsills wound up ok doing packaged tours with The Turtles and Gary Puckett and that is a good deal.
Dad didn’t want one son in the band. Kicked out one son, never remitted owed taxes, left the children short of cash and owing a lot of money to their government. Regretfully two have passed away. One passed in Canada 🇨🇦 and the other one in the US’s New England states during a hurricane.
From this post Billy Cowsill clip, it is clear that this band was just a shell of itself. Nobody wanted to see Barbara singing that sentimental stuff. Blame the sudden demise on the Dad who underappreciated Billy and threw him out as a power grab.
I think it was more of their father’s fault. He was managing the band and forced their mother into being in it, so I don’t think she had a big say in where they performed.
