They were happy times that will not return. Somewhere in the world, wherever you are, I send you a warm hug if you remember those times like I do, and a soft affectionate breeze runs through you listening to this song.
Many years ago John was staying at a hotel I worked at in Boston and, as he was checking out, he looked at my name tag and told me that he liked my name and was using it as his alias at their next hotel. What a little doll Susan was. We so very much loved her dancing!! This very song should be titled "The 1970s" as it exemplifies that decade. When I think of anything in that day, this song rises to the top.
I was born in 1956 grew up on 60s 70s music and I loved still love The Cowsills ! Susan has a pretty voice ! I heard her sing a song a tribute to her late brother Barry ! She sang it so very well ! She was born in 1959 or 1958 close to my age and I loved the other band members ! There are so many nice comments on here but I did get a nasty comment on here about 2 years or so ago and I had said nothing wrong about The Cowsills if anything I praised thier singing !
I had never heard this song before until I was watching a sixties music channel on tv and then boom this beautiful song from a magical decade came on and that was it I started to look for more information about this wonderful band. It’s quite sad that the lead singer bill and the bass player Barry are no longer with us and their father was a bit of a vicious drunk but other than that what a great band and as long as we have the music bill and Barry will continue to live on. Thank you The Cowsills 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks to the YT algorithm, I've been introduced to The Cowsills; the band was before my time. What a great discovery. This is a lovely, magical melody & it's such a shame that they were not able to reach their full potential w/their musical career. Even more tragic when one watches the documentary videos here on YT re: the reasons for the band's future to be cut so short. Wishing the best all these years later to the Cowsill family. PS Via reruns, I've seen episodes of The Partridge Family, which was apparently well-known as being based on The Cowsills. Not until seeing this vid did I know just how closely The PF tracked The C. Wow.
This was way before my time (37) but I use to spend a ton of time with my grandparents when I was little going to car shows and all sorts of things. They are 80 and 81 now so this music was from their era, when they were in their prime, and it’s all we would listen when I was with them so I have a deep admiration of stuff from the 50’s and 60’s. Remember them playing this song, classic. 👍🏻
I think many years ago I commented on this, the vocals are superb...I get the chills when I hear this, a true feel good masterpiece, Thanks for this!!!
@jerry Williams The lead vocal by the late, great Bill Cowsill is what makes this song so magical. His amazing voice was THE key ingredient that elevated the band and gives one chills when they hear this song. After their dirtbag father fired Bill, this band never again sounded even remotely as superb as they had sounded when Bill was at the helm. Yes, his siblings could sing, but Bill Cowsill had a SOUND all his own. No one sounds like him. Furthermore, he was easily the Cowsill's finest songwriter and musician, and he CONTINUED to create superb music years later with incredible bands like The Blue Shadows. If you haven't heard of The Blue Shadows, then by all means check them out here on UA-cam. Their music will knock your socks off! Bill was also a fine producer. After Bill was fired, none of his siblings could step into his shoes in any capacity, and the band dissolved in 1972, at which point they discovered the secret that Bud and Barbara had kept from their children: the parents has spent all the money the siblings had made.
I was a musician working a day job for Radio Shack back in the late 80’s in Seaside, California and Barry Cowsill (drums) was also an employee. We needed a drummer for the band so Barry joined. His drumming chops weren’t great, but he was extremely laid back and was easy to get along with. Tragically, I discovered he passed away due to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. RIP Barry Cowsill.
Wow! I can’t remember anything being mentioned about his passing then, but Katrina was such a terrible disaster I guess I missed it. Did you feel like working and playing with him was one of those I’m pretty lucky moments at the time or was it after you turned around and he was gone? That’s a great story and you, sir, have an awesome name.
Those of us who come from the last century enjoyed 60 years of music that filled our souls with joys, sadness, memories, melancholy and magic. The question is: Will this generation boast the same in future years?
This is how I would like to remember all of them despite all the troubles they went through this song always makes me smile when I hear it or see the video, especially the the little one having such a good time on the tambourine.
I'll be 65 this year. Went to my brother's Jr High dance with mom to pick him up. I was 9. It was the first time I heard this song. An earworm ever since.
Always loved this song. Still listen to it often, thanks to the wonders of modern technology. (Let’s not forget “Hair” either.) I’m a child of the 60’s and I was well into middle age before I learned what this family went through on their way to fame. Their music rose from the flames of the hell they endured - a symbolic Phoenix of the entire 60’s generation. I’m grateful for the musical gifts they gave the world yet I’m saddened by the life they endured under a tyrant. Live. Love. Be kind.

What a little doll Susan was. We so very much loved her dancing!! This very song should be titled "The 1970s" as it exemplifies that decade. When I think of anything in that day, this song rises to the top.
Susan still tours with her two remaining brothers and they are quite good ….
I could listen to this song a 100 times a day & not get sick of it.. I was 17 when it came out.. loved it ever since.
I loved this song the first time I heard it. It was like magic: a breath of fresh air. And i was only a kid at the time.
May 20th, 1959.
Metoo iwas born in 1956
Ilovethis music
That's noce
That's nice
I had never heard this song before until I was watching a sixties music channel on tv and then boom this beautiful song from a magical decade came on and that was it I started to look for more information about this wonderful band. It’s quite sad that the lead singer bill and the bass player Barry are no longer with us and their father was a bit of a vicious drunk but other than that what a great band and as long as we have the music bill and Barry will continue to live on. Thank you The Cowsills 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw them in Dallas state fair in 1967 in a small area outdoors ..they were awesome
Forgot how I luv your songs,. Singing.. super talent!! Keep rockin' in Branson Mo ❤️🎶☺️👍
Ésta canción era la favorita de mi madre. Se ponía feliz al escucharla.. y yo siento lo mismo.❤
I met them in 1968. They were lovely, charming people.
thanks for puting this song here ! peace / love to all
Thanks to the YT algorithm, I've been introduced to The Cowsills; the band was before my time.
Wow.
As an artist I would not stupe so low as the partridge family did taking away some of the Cowsills shine.
Man... always makes feel good every i play it..the harmony
To me .....this song and I'd like to get to know you were two of the greatest feel good songs of the sixties that always evokes fond memories.
Es una obra de arte
I too adore this song. It's of better times and family.
Harmonies are the best
Look at Susan so little. Cute..🤗. I love this song.... Every time I'm down... This song makes my day 💕💕💕
The vocal just washes over your body like a bright Spring Day......it sounds so cosmically perfect.....
I have yet a single of this gold medal song e wonderfull choral musicians!
John is the drummer here...Barry is on bass guitar.
Wow que bonita familia, me encanto la niña con su vestidito sancon tan tierna, que bonitas canciones, que recuerdos!! 😍😍
Will love this song till the day I die. It brings so much nostalgia of the 60's to my heart. Adored the COWSILLS in this magic song !
As a classic rocker this is one song I will always love. Sends chills 💕
I was born in 65 love that music excellent songs of love great feeling 😀😀😀
Beautiful Song with beautiful music!!
Beautiful! Brings back some great memories. It's a shame kids can't listen to happy, fun , just plain good music instead of the trash of today.
I grew up with this song....in L A ....this was always on the radio in the 1960s and 1970s... everyday....it is 2024 i am still listening 🎧...
I'll be 65 this year. Went to my brother's Jr High dance with mom to pick him up. I was 9. It was the first time I heard this song. An earworm ever since.
Always loved this song. Still listen to it often, thanks to the wonders of modern technology. (Let’s not forget “Hair” either.)
I’m a child of the 60’s and I was well into middle age before I learned what this family went through on their way to fame. Their music rose from the flames of the hell they endured - a symbolic Phoenix of the entire 60’s generation.
I’m grateful for the musical gifts they gave the world yet I’m saddened by the life they endured under a tyrant.
Live. Love. Be kind.
Cara, assim é a vida!!!

This is one of those songs that if you hear it on your car radio you turn off the radio when it!s over because you just want this song to stay in your head! Great song!!
