Yo. Sweet One. So the Lady Steve is eyeing is his woman at the time. I saw Humble Pie in 1972 at L.A. Coliseum, Blackberries were there. Steve played till management shut the power off to the stage. 4 of us Servicemen, had to run from the girls. Heading overseas 1 day later.
My absolute favourite singer, in my opinion he's the greatest male vocalist the UK has ever produced. This song was written and sang by Ike and Tina Turner but Steve changed the lyrics slightly and says "my skin is white but my soul is black". True words ❤
God rest dear Stevie Marriott. Sadly gone but never forgotten. One of the greatest rock & soul voices I ever heard.

Steve grew up on the streets at around 12 years old. Can hear he's was special.

Don’t get me wrong or take this the wrong way but damn this is the whitest black man singing. This man is full of soul that when I first heard this song back in the day, I thought he was like James Brown or something. Raw and beautiful song. Dang! Great reaction too. He died in a house fire that started from a lit cigarette. He had passed out from drinking too much!😥

Nobody knows how the fire was started. He also liked to light a candle. But how the fire started for sure was never confirmed. All they could say was they believe he was drunk. He just came off tour in America. He was afraid of flying therefore he'd got tanked up before and during the flight. By the time he got home in the U.K. it's believed he just went to bed. The fire started in his bedroom later that night.

The female singers were The Blackberrys. The one in the middle is Venetta Fields. Venetta is an American and British rock and pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as working as a session recording vocalist, she worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Elkie Brooks, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones. After emigrating to Australia in 1982, she took up citizenship. She recorded or toured as a backing singer for Australian artists Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, James Morrison and John Farnham.
