Steve Marriott was the singer; try "30 Days in the Hole" for more Humble Pie, BUT ... before Humble Pie, Marriott was the singer for a very cool band called the Small Faces. Try "Tin Soldier" or "All or Nothing" for killer earlier songs he sang.
Matt you got it...30 Days!
Hell yeah 30 days in the hole love it what a awesome tune
Or better yet, 'Natural Born Boogie'. Off the chart with that one.
Tin Soldier is my all time fave
❤❤❤❤❤
Tin Soldier is 🔥🔥
I just love watching people have their WTF??? moment when they first (and often thereafter) hear Steve Marriott's mouth open. What a gem. One of a kind.
RIP Steve Marriott 😢.
Quote from Peter Frampton: "Everytime Steve opened his mouth, gold dust came out!"
same here, its so fun to watch
One of the most talented people out there but he totally f***Ed up his life and his career. Too much ego, too much bad attitude.
The backup singers are called the Blackberries. Before backing Steve Marriott with Humble Pie, they toured with Ike and Tina Turner as the Ikettes and Ray Charles as the Raelettes.
They must’ve loved Steve because Ike was abusive and Rae hit up on his backup singers now and then.
I love your smile when you react to great music. It’s interesting how the media keeps pushing racism but lots of bands back in the 70’s had black and whites making awesome music together. Whitney Houston’s mom sang back up back in the day for Elvis. The bottom line is music brings us all together!
Yeah, and I'm just a dirty white boy from Ohio and we grew up listening to a AM station outta Detroit playing Motown, and a bit of everything else. Most of the bands we listened to were black and white. Yeah. Peace

Peter Framton was a member of Humble Pie.
Welcome to the wonders of the legendary Steve Marriott!! I am excited for you to be just discovering him, my favorite rock hero. Steve is considered by his peers - Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Roger Daltry, David Bowie, Keith Richards, Steve Perry, Ozzy Osbourne and MANY others to be the greatest soul/rock singer that England ever produced. Steve had been singing professionally since he was 13 and playing on the London stage. His first band (YOU MUST check out) were the Small Faces. the greatest British Invasion Band that sadly never invaded the US, so most of us here in the US never heard of them. Humble Pie is Steve's second band. After they broke up, Steve went solo, mostly performing in small venues and clubs, singing some amazing blues. Sadly he died in a house fire in 1991, so many people your age have never heard of him. PLEASE check him out further, you won't regret it. Here are a few recommendations:
Humble Pie: "I Don't Need No Dr."(live from Fillmore pls), "I Wonder", "Hot and Nasty", "Road Runner" and those listed by others here
Small Faces: "Tin Soldier", "You Need Lovin". "Rollin Over", "Itchicoo Park", "All or Nothing"
Steve Marriott (solo) : "Help Me Through the Day"(blues, it just bleeds - goosebumps)
Look forward to more. THANK YOU !!!
Hot and Nasty. That's a goodie.
Marriot was first choice for Zeppelin also and the artful dodger in Oliver.
Lead singer is Steve Marriott. Need to listen to their Song “30 days in the hole.” Steve passed away in a fire in 2019. RIP
FWIW Steve passed away back in 1991
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Marriott
Pardon me, but I believe you meant to say Steve died in 1991. RIP indeed.
What a Singer......what a Bummer.
Yes he died in 1991 and I posted 2019
I think you meant 1991. God rest him.
Steve Marriott is a British Born soul/Blues/Rock singer who hit the music scene way back in 1966, with his first group (The Small Faces) that was sort of a psychedelic era Band. This man is/was (passed away) one of the greatest vocals in the world, along with Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant, and Joe Cocker. an unbelievable talent. One of the all-time greats.
Amen!
Old and lucky enough to see the Pie Live 3 times back in the early 70's.
Interesting note: The 'Blackberry' on the far right is the Late Dallas born Clydie King who recently passed in 2019 and the R.I.A.A claims her voice as a singer and a backup singer has been recorded on the most songs in history to present day.
Good rest Stevie Marriott. Died way too young in a house fire in the late '80's or early '90's. He was one of the finest rock and soul singers we ever saw right here in the UK. 💔
Don't you just love to see how much fun Steve is having with the amazing backing singers!
Adogg - "Tin Soldier" Tin Soldier is by Small Faces, the group Stevie was in before Humble Pie, It has the best breakdown EVER! Do the version from French television. Not the best quality but damn! BONUS - some beautiful vintage sister footage!
Fantastic voice, one of THE best ever! Once met him in a supermarket near where a friend of mine lived down London way. He was buying beans with a 7-foot blonde on his arm (he was only about 5 feet tall anyhow!). Check out the Small Faces album "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake", and great to see your reaction to this one. First time I ever heard it, I was the same!
Steve Mariott was the 1 of the lead singers, as in this video. He was also in Small Faces. RIP Steve Mariott.
The other lead singer in Humble Pie was Peter Frampton. He quit and started a solo career.
Steve Marriott had such soul, man. That man could sing and he could play that guitar so fine. Totally awesome with Humble Pie, Small Faces, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera! Love it! 😎👍
The late great Steve Marriott, great great singer who could play some guitar as well. Small Faces, Humble Pie...RIP.
One of my favorite live performances
Steve Marriot!!!
One of the greatest vocalists ever in blues rock and roll !!!
Got to do Humble Pie
Rockin' The Filmore with
"I Don't Need No Doctor",
and then Steve with
The Small Faces,
Tin Soldier.
👍👍👍
One of the things I love about this is how you can tell how much Steve is having, singing w/ the Blackberries...😊
Great song from a great band. Humble Pie
Now that's how you do a live performance. Great choice.
Humble Pie can rock with the best of them. Always felt like they got overlooked back in their day, but there was so many great bands from that era, they sorta got lost in the shuffle.
You'll enjoy their other songs.
About 20 seconds in, you took off your glasses...then comes that Beautiful grin. Got your head bouncin' and stirring your soul. You just had your first taste of Humble Pie 🥧 with Black Coffee ☕..."that's where it's at...🎶🎵🎶"😉👍🏼
We need more of this soulful type of music again!!
You weren't expecting that voice to come from him! 😆
Wow. I haven't listened to them in years👍
Stevie's dog, Seamus, also featured on Pink Floyd's track of the same title on the album Meddle.
Steve Marriott had what was considered one of the best voices in rock.
Steve Marriot, lead singer for Humble Pie jammin with the Blackberries. Great jam ✌️
Good memories for sure and the song that got the most airplay was 30 Days in the Hole. Steve Marriott on vocals.
The one and only Steve Marriott! He was only five feet tall but 100% dynamite. Amazing guitarist too; definitely worth exploring.
He was in the Small Faces, nothing more needs to be said!
Yep. Little Steve Marriott on vocals and guitar. The BlackBerrys are on background vocals. Cool song.
The Blackberries representing lovely gorgeous and singing with soul damn I’m in musical heaven
He was way ahead of his time. Best voice ever back then.
Getting to live through the music of the 70's was a wonderful treat.
I strongly suggest the song "I Don't Need No Doctor" On the "Humble Pie Performance Rockin the Fillmore" album
That song is amazing
this band is just having such a good time and it shows! definitely need to do 30 Days In The Hole!
Leslie West was in this band too!
Joy to the soul, what a voice man, what a voice
"my skin is white but my soul is black"....dig it.....R.I.P., Steve.................I think that's Peter Framptom on 2nd guitar (yes, THAT Peter Frampton)
Steve Marriott Loved the Blues ... he loved R&B ... his Hero's were great American Blues singers !
My favorite Steve song is "help Me Through the Day" from his 1st solo album "Marriott". Also, "I Wonder" with Humble Pie". Lastly, his cover of Smoking Robinson's "You've really got a Hold on me" with the Small Faces, just rips my heart out!!
Oh heck YES! Steve was great with all of his bands
I love some Humble Pie. Steve Marriott voice was outstanding.
When ever I want to touch base with QUALITY I play this track, listen also to Tin Soldier with the Blackberries. I was fortunate to live through this period going every week to see bands like Humble Pie, Kinks, Stones and the first ever Rod Stewart gig with the Faces ( yes Steve had left) Wheelie festival Essex, WOW
#
Known as a terrific live band, Steve marriot, Peter frampton and Fred Ridley also good singers. Check out live with me off their humble pie named album, and walk on gilded splinters off live at rockin the Fillmore.
Hell yeah,Steve Marriott and The Blackberries (3 ladies)
I recommend this to every reactor.
Man... I forgot about this banger. So smooth! My hat's off to whomever requested it! Kinda makes me think about Black Betty by Ram Jam. Or maybe you could check out Blackberry by the Black Crowes...or Sugarfoot by Black Joe Lewis And The Honeybears. (Starting to notice a trend?)
Little Stevie, sure has grown up a lot! Wow .. what a bad boy! :D
Love the smile.
Saw the pie at the roundhouse in chalk farm, back in the day. Brilliant!
Stevie Marriott was the lead vocalist and guitarist. He was also in a band before that, Small Faces. In the 80s, he was killed in a house fire, sadly.
Skip 30 days in the hole and go straight to IM READY live from Rockin The Filmore! Best Marriott vocal 👍🏼
Steve Marriott's song "Five Long Years" is great.
Cmon everybody! Smokin albumn is 🔥
These could rock, and so many great songs...Road Runner from the "Eat It" album, I don't Need No Doctor from the "Rockin' the Fillmore album and one my bluesy favorites I Wonder. Humble Pie - Smokin' - 08 - I Wonder - UA-cam
Never heard this before either. My reaction was about like yours, that was amazing 👍
And Greg Ridley on bass....
ADogg, I love Humble Pie and got to see them live back in the day. I beg you to do I" Don't Need No Doctor" and "30 Days in the Hole" both from the Rockin the Fillmore live album. You will totally dig both songs! Please! You won't regret it!
30 Days was not on the live album.
It was on Smokin', a few years after Frampton left the band....
but killer song!
Dave, thanks for the clarification. My old man's brain remembered wrongly. One of the bands I was in back in the 70s had a guy who could literally sing almost identically to Steve Marriott so we played a lot of Humble Pie covers. I just really dig their music. Peace!
Checkout - the light from humble pie
You would appreciate "I Believe to my Soul" by Humble Pie.
One of my favorites, also.
If you're a Brit, the Small Faces are THE band we most remember but if American, more likely its Humble Pie. When Stevie left the Small Faces, they became the Faces and the lead singer was Rod Stewart and the guitarist, Ronnie Wood. Took two of the greats to replace him!
Growing up in the US, I never heard of the Small Faces, except for "Itchicoo Park", which isn't really indicative of who they really were. I discovered Small Faces as an adult, and down the rabbit hole I went went with the SF's, Humble Pie and Steve Marriott in general. Small Faces rank right below the Beatles in my opinion for talent, creativity, songwriting and of course Steve's amazing voice. I wish more people would learn about them and Steve in general. What a great loss when he passed too early.
@@cindyfalstrom7231 I particularly enjoy it when people hear You Need Loving for the first time and realise it was recorded two years or so before Led Zeppelin"s Whole Lotta Love
@@karmannghiaman1041 LOL! - I just this minute requested this song from Adog in the comment section of another song (Janis). I hope he will play it. The few times I've seen a reactor hear it the look on their face is hilarious - almost as good as their look on Black coffee! Let's keep requesting these wonderful artists, friend - more people need to learn about them - Cheers...
I Don't Need No Doctor and 30 Days in the Hole by Humble Pie.
Steve Marriot and Humble Pie are still to this day one of my all-time favorite bands. His voice has more soul than I have in my whole body. Great song, try Roadrunner, I don't Need No Doctor, 30 Days IN The Hole, Drift Away, Big John just to name a few. This actually was Peter Frampton's band but he wanted a mellower band so he graciously left the band so he could do his solo career.
Five foot four inches of pure rock-n-roll soul
I love your adorable face. Thank you for this!
Steve was hooked up with the singer on the right. He was with her before Humble Pie. Steve was on the streets at 12 years old. Live, he was even more stunning. He played until the power was cut off to the stage, I know I've seen it happen.
Damn, man. You going back into the day. My childhood. Enjoy.
Dude. Back in the day, back in the day. It was special. Something special. don't believe all the hype from today. Not all is what is screeched about.
The way Steve Marriott vibes with the Blackberries here just makes this performance for me
You can tell how this is going to go? It already did!
He was Jimmy Page first choice for Led zeppelin before Robert Plant was in the picture
Finally! Let’s go!
😆🤣😂 I jus' watched you groove on some Allman Bros, surfed your channel, saw This, and Can't Wait!!! 😆
Steve Marriott!!🥰❤️❤️
I’m just gonna say it, Adogg- you have the most joyful smile on the Internet. There I said it- carry on!!
A couple of the Blackberries backed up Linda Ronstadt on the live Midnight Special version of "You're No Good." They MADE the show.
Steve Marriot is his name. Check out I wonder off there smokin album....badass!!!
My fav blues song from HP, also my all time fav HP song "You're So Good For Me" is also on the "Smokin" album. Every song on that album is a masterpiece. "Rock On", Performance:Live at the Fillmore" and "Smokin" are Humble Pie at their peak in my opinion.
Itchy koo park was one of the best early songs from small faces.
Adogg, when you took your glasses off, it was like "woah, am I seeing this?"
That was awesome!
Blues baby 😀
Lil' guy. Big voice.
So good! 🔥🔥🔥
Them doing a cover of honky tonk woman is brilliant
His name is Steve Marriott, the artful dodger ❤
Any song from Rockin the Filmore is great the live crowd atmosphere is worth listening to I like Rolling Stone although it is a bit long so maybe I Don't Need No Doctor.
Song of a baker is a good tune also and the video shows off his moves.
Humble Pie was just a great ass band.
☮️💜
You need to hear Tobacco Road by Edgar and Johnny Winter. It's fantastic and as soulful as this is. You'll love it.
Other people have commented on Steve as well as the legendary Blackberries, so there's nothing for me to do but enjoy.
30 days in the hole and Hot n Nasty, are a couple more with Steve Marriott and the Blackberries. Died way before his time.
Humble Pie is a great band. One of my favs. Singer is Steve Marriot. He was singer and guitarist with Small Faces. He formed this band with Greg Ridley, Jerry Shirley and Peter Frampton after he left Small Faces in the late 60's. Peter Frampton left the band by the time this song came out. They have lots of great songs. Black Coffee isn't near their best.
Humble Pie was fire! "My skin is white but my soul is black." R.I.P. Steve Marriott
Awesome✊️
Check out 30 Days in the Hole by Humble Pie. Btw, Steve Marriott is the lead singer.
Watching now. This will surprise you, I think.
Another song is "30 days in The Hole ! Good pick Adogg !
Stevie's a brother from another mother Adogg. He just sang it "you see my skin is white but my soul is black". 'nuff said. RIP Stevie.
Aww I remember this from a little girl
Tina Turner wrote "Black Coffee".
