My favourite frontman !!!,one of the best vocalists to ever come out of the uk !!...insane talent... .RIP steve Marriott....and your reaction when he starts to sing is pretty much everyone's reaction ... disbelief!!!😊
The singer in the middle is Venetta Fields. Venetta was a backing vocalist for touring American and British rock and pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as working as a session recording vocalist, she worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Elkie Brooks, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones. After emigrating to Australia in 1982, she took up citizenship. She recorded or toured as a backing singer for Australian artists Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, James Morrison and John Farnham.
Yeah. That’s right! I recognize her now. Didn’t she sing with Sly Stone’s band, Little Sister too? I remember that really cool, funky song, “Somebody’s Watching You.” It was a hit for a while, back in the day.
You'll love their songs, I Don't Need No Doctor and Thirty Days in the Hole. Steve Marriot, the lead singer was formerly in a band called the Small Faces.
The late great legendary Steve Marriott could peel paint with that powerful voice. He was a real London East Ender, had been on stage in London in Oliver Twist as the Artful Dodger, and even some films in the early 1960s. There's a video of him playing the blues song "Five Long Years" that shows what an amazing guitarist he was too. Small Faces, Humble Pie or solo he was an incredible talent, gone too soon. Thanks you guys.
Stevie Marriot was a great singer together with Peter Frampton in Humble Pie, one of the first "super groups". Tragically killed in a house fire in his forties. RIP.
I love the looks on peoples faces when they react to this song. The voice that comes out of Steve Marriott always blows people away. As soon as he open his mouth, the looks on your faces were priceless. Another great reaction from you two.👏👏👏👏
Steve Marriott was such a great talent! He was in the theater, playing Artful Dodger in Oliver and when he was a young teen, he quit. When asked why, he said he was going to be a rock star instead! So lucky for us that he did! Check him out in his first band, The Small Faces, next was Humble Pie who I was lucky to see several times in Detroit and he did some solo performances as well before he died in a house fire. Glad to see the younger generations still appreciating Steve!
The "The Old Grey Whistle Test" was a great TV show that presented amazing performances from countless bands who were (or would become) giants of rock and roll. According to presenter Bob Harris, the programme derived its name from a Tin Pan Alley phrase from years before. When they got the first pressing of a record they would play it to people they called the old greys - doormen in grey suits. Any song the doormen could remember and whistle, having heard it just once or twice, had passed the "old grey whistle test".
I don’t think there will ever be any other guy that can sing within reach of Steve’s soulful vocals on this song. Steve: “my skin is white, but my soul is black”. Everyone that hears his voice straight out of the gate can surely agree that Steve was right about that. I’m still looking for my socks cause they blew away too,
RIP Stevie Marriott. One of the very finest rock/blues vocalists we ever produced here in the UK. He tragically lost his life back in the early '90's in a house fire. 💔 Gone way too early and sadly missed.
The guy with the"voice" is ""Whispering" Bob Harris....the voice of Rock n Roll on the BBC's iconic Old Grey Whistle Test, a legend and a Gentleman!!!! Saw Humble Pie live in London way back and they were amazing.....they rocked aswell🎸
Steve Marriott had a reputation among his fellow musicians for never singing a bad note. That can't possibly be true, but there's a reason he had that reputation. He may have missed a note at some point, but no one can actually find it. That's how you get the respect he garnered.
RIP Stevie Marriott, he was a force of nature. Back in the mid 60’s he formed a band called the Small Faces. Eventually Steve left it was then joined by Rod Stewart and morphed into the Faces. The Small Faces are worth listening to.
The Old Grey Whistle Test is such a treasure trove from the period. All playing live unlike TOTP. Thank god the BBC didn't wipe the tapes for reuse like they did with so much other stuff at that time.
That tiny dude had an immense talent. What a great band. You might check out his band mate's music on FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE, maybe the best selling album of the '70s.
The best gigs I ever went to were Steve Marriott and the Packet of three in the Oliver Twist pub Colchester … Effectively Humble Pie without Peter Frampton. This was not belong he sadly died… I’ll never forget an eyeball to eyeball gig.
OMG OMG OMG!!! Steve was Robert Plant's biggest influence. You can really see it in this performance which is actually a song Led Zeppelin later performed with a slightly different name. "You Need Loving" by The Small Faces. ua-cam.com/video/tp0jZ4BGuDw/v-deo.html&pp=ygUbeW91IG5lZWQgbG92aW5nIHNtYWxsIGZhY2Vz FYI, The Small Faces took that name because each member was under 5'5" tall. After Steve left and Rod Stewart and Ron Wood joined, they became just The Faces because the new members were too tall!
A couple of other songs with Steve Marriott are "Itchykoo Park" (Small Faces) 1968 which is totally different than his blues sets. ua-cam.com/video/fayL1WTR1Go/v-deo.html Also an older Steve singing "I Don't Need No Doctor" live (3 pc. band) ua-cam.com/video/WmXIkfH9olw/v-deo.html
Steve Marriott may be the only man to ever stand up to John Gotti who lived. If you don't know the story it's worth looking up. He lived here in Atlanta for two years in the early 80s and his legacy resonates here even today. God rest you, Artful Dodger.
A lot of sexual chemistry in that room and the two other guitar players are completely oblivious to it or maybe they have seen it all before and are just thinking it's just Steve(ladies man)Marriott doing his thing, nothing to see here. Great song, great band, great backing singers, great frontman, great voice and great guitar playing. Too many greats in this comment but at the same time not enough to describe what's going on here.
Oh my gosh!!! Ahahaha YAY Wow **Dominka** ya said exactly what i am talking about! Ha **Luvit** Ya **Rock** well ya know ya Both **Rock** tho heh **PixieHugz&Luvz** & YAY yes so very **Happy** ya **Luvd** THIS!!! He IS something else alright!!! **TheCutieAdorableArtfulDodger** **Melt**
In an interview, Jenny Marriott said that Steve and Clydie had "a thing, but it didn't last long" Steve was also lovers with PP (Pat) Arnold, his backup singer on "Tin Soldier" with the Small Faces.
@@jamesrowe3606 Steve was a charmer and a notorious womanizer. Sadly this, along with long touring schedules and substance abuse led his beloved first wife Jenny to leave him after 5 yrs, however she has stated "cocaine killed our marriage". In her memoir, PP Arnold states that everyone was sleeping with everyone in the 1960's London music scene. She says of all the white boys she was lovers with, Steve was the only who not only didn't try to hide it, but actually took her home to meet his mother - "he was that real of a person". After Jenny left, he was devastated. Although he married twice more and had 3 legal children, those who knew him said Jenny was the love of his life and the only one he truly loved. Sad life of a touring rock star 💔

True
Steve was a giant of talent, freshly ground and fully packed!

This Song is not about the Drink ! Steve Loved Black Women !!!!

Composed by Ike and Tina Turner !!
He dated the girl on the right.
Captain obvious.
He dated Clydie King. So did Bob Dylan.
5 long years live. Steve was one of the best ever. Great guitar player as well.

This is a great example of UK bands taking our forgotten Blues and giving it back to us with a new flair 🤘
Man. I'm glad you picked this, Always blows me away. Great performance. Sad story of the band.

We called him "bomber" 🤪
@@steddie4514 😄 🤣....didn't live near Dresden then!!!
I'd give my vocal chords for a voice like that.
One of the best singers to come out of 1960's UK. The girl on the right was his partner at the time.
🇬🇧 Wow, AMAZING. Enough said. ❤🎶🎼
Never fails to make you smile.
WOOOHOOO!!! BLACK COFFEE!! LOVE this one!! Hope ya'll do, too!! ENJOY!
He ain’t talking about coffee 😂
The magic days of "Whispering" Bob Harris & "The Old Grey Whistle Test"!!

He was sharing Clydie King’s black coffee… she’s the singer on the right.
I love seeing people's first reaction to the mighty powerhouse that was Steve Marriott. Undoubtedly, one of England's all-time greatest singers.
LOVE your enthusiasm ! Steve Marriott was a brilliant singer and stage presence. So much charisma. May he rest in peace 💔
That was whispering Bob Harris that sounded a bit like Nigel F.
“My skin is white, but my soul is black” …It’s Steve Mariott!!

Love Steve Marriott's voice and must listen to some Small Faces sings with so much Soul such a tragic end to his life 💔
They had to do 3 encores the first time they were here. Their two biggest songs are probably '30 Days In The Hole' and 'I Don't Need No Doctor".
That tiny dude had an immense talent. What a great band. You might check out his band mate's music on FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE, maybe the best selling album of the '70s.
Whispering Bob Harris, radio legend.
Underrated band! Amazing blues tune! 😉🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stevie Marriott. I miss him. Great reaction.
Thank you for the reaction of one of my favorite bands. My I suggest "I Don't Need No Doctor" of their live album Rockin' the Filmore.
There’s a great version of this, live from the studio, with Joe Bonamassa on guitar, Beth Hart on vocals. Yummy

Whispering Bob Harris....
Check Steve Marriot out in The Small Faces
Marriot had a huge influence on Robert Plant in the mid sixties.
Sreve had an amazing voice. I would love to see you react to "Five Long Years" live 1985.

Steve Marriott was one of the singers that Jimmy Page would have loved to have played with.
Steve Marriott Five Long Years Solo with the Packet of Three live 1985 suggestion guarantee you won't be disappointed
Steve Marriott was special. May he be at peace
Steve Marriott is the best British frontman of all time, Mick Jagger et all eat your heart out, none of you can compete, all roll over as second best
I ❤Nigel Farage! 😊
Little Stevie is Beth Harts icon. You should check out his first band " Small Faces " and a song called " Tin Soldier " :)
Marriott was a little cockney sparrow who could belt it put like nobody else.
Steve Marriott is definitely one of the greats.
Now you need to listen to Humble Pie song 30 Days In The Hole.
Great reaction! If you really want your mind blown check out Janis Joplin Work Me Lord Live in Stockholm 1969. It's a one of a kind performance!

I like to speculate about which of the Blackberries was getting it on with Stevie at the time. My money's on Clydie. The chemistry is palpable.
