I discovered this live version of Trademark in 2016, and i still insist that the two minute long solo which starts from 2.20, is the most beautiful and technically sophisticated playing ever done by someone.
One of Shawn's best solos. He plays so fluently, like the universe is holding him back and he just punches right through with sheer determination. This man is not just playing music, he's saying something and he really wants you to know. The universe ain't gonna hold me back, just watch and see!
The part starting at 3:40 is also one of my favorite parts of this performance. The slick slide up to get that higher note during that lick is so simple, yet so profound. This man can make 1 simple note send my spirit soaring. I said it once and ill say it again. Shawn lanes touch was pure magic, long live Shawn Lane, the greatest of all time.
@@elektrohermit right? I have lots of respect for Joe and Steve, both have alot of qualities I admire. Steves use of the whammy bar is so creative and fun, a little over done, but still impressive. I personally feel Joes tone is one of the best ever captured. I am I massive buckethead fan and I discovere Shawn through him. When it comes down to it, shawn just has a way with guitar that few have ever come close to matching. I know its all subjective and definitely not a competition, hell some would argue slash is better than all of them (each to their own) but shawn deserves all the praise in the world, a true legend who made BEAUTIFUL INSPIRING music and had an amazing character and personality to match his genius. The world will never know another guitarist like him.
@@MrTTism to be honest,Shawn shocked me in a video of shredder ranks that I saw couple years ago,he played get you back lick, that was perfect and impressive. After I saw that stuff, I realized I find my way on guitar(world fusion and pentatonic shred like Shawn ). That's the feeling you find your own guitar hero. To me, Shawn is the best .
That's a funny way of saying the truth 😂 I hear Holdsworth in the way he groups certain runs together, I heard EJ in the smoothness of his tone at times, and some mean bluesy grit that he must've picked up from playing in the south.

Looks like he was still digesting them....COME ON!!!!!...tragedy plus time = humor....ffs.
Best live version of him for this song. The cigarette gives it away.
Like Eric Johnson said. «He made it seem so simple»
What a great guitarist he was.

The truly amazing thing is that he didn’t lose that cigarette
He finally did when he died of a lung disorder.
Thanks a lot!
People should know him and remember
Always come back to Shawn's music.

Eric Johnson-Trademark
Are those emg pickups?
Unfortunately I am uncertain on this one. - CB
@@danielduplantier4526 It does at least a little.
His signature guitar from Vigier he's playing here has DiMarzio pickups. They still make this model today.
I suspect he tried a lot of different pickups. 🕊
He used plenty of stuff during the years. But his Vigier signature model had Dimarzio air classics. Quite low output pickups.
Mesma guitarra que a Tina S usava
Shawn had chunks of every other guitar player in his stool.
