Hard4games has been asking popole for years if they find this suft to send it to them for dumping to save the data for everyone to enjoy before it's to late.
Saying the Nintendo Ninjas are gonna be after you for releasing a beta build of Hotel Mario is like saying Disney is gonna sue you for finding behind the scenes clips of the Star Wars Christmas Special, even as cold and heartless Nintendo is. They have zero care for the CD-I games, just look at the fact that Nintendo never DMCA'd a single YTP or even the remaster of the CD-I Zeldas. That last one is important since Nintendo sniffs their noses around for ANY remasters or remakes or even fan games they can and IMMEDIATELY DMCA them. Plus, they're in a lock between Philips and themselves for the rights, so it'd be a bit of a headache that's not worth it to even send ninjas. Put it on archive, Nintendo isn't gonna care at all. And no, Philips doesn't care either. Same rationale.
Nintendo isn't perfect, but I wouldn't call them heartless. Without them, home video games in North America would have ended with E.T., plus they made so many memorable characters and memories that will last forever Yeah, they're iffy when it comes to fan projects, but that doesn't take away their accomplishments in gaming history. No company is perfect, just like no human is perfect, we all have our own flaws but we always at the very least have redeeming aspects, never ignore that. Okay, TED Talk over
@@TheVideoGuyfromOhio I’d say it absolutely does take away from their achievements. For all the good they’ve done in the past, their present seems to be nothing but problems.
That's pretty cool! I remember working at People Play Games and so many dev kits from when Midway downsized came through the store. Such neat pieces of history.
That's a sweet deal to find a prototype in a thrift store especially a Mario one. That's almost a one in a million find there. Wonder if you can just burn the disc to your computer and load it up on a emulator to see if it works or maybe it's something more complicated then that but regardless good luck getting it to work.
Agreed, you should be fine to dump this, Nintendo basically would never want to acknowledge the CDI ever again at this point, they have no stakes in it
I get your CD-I is broken, but did you at least throw in in your PC check to see if the disk had any data written to it in the first place let alone CD-I data?
Great video, cool you got vg looking cdi not vcr looking ones. Also nintendo went to philips cuz sony cd contract would let them own nintendo ips in a way
Hello, do you have an approximate date you'll post comparison footage? Anyone could copy an old Hotel Mario disc, print a basic label, then claim they can't show anything for risk of legal liability. Why did you not go about repairing your machine before posting anything about this? Maybe it's just a regular copy of the game and this is a waste. I don't mean to be rude, just skeptical. I think this could be very cool, but I'm holding out until we actually see anything. Thanks for your time. I hope you've found a piece of history!
What? No, thats not how it works at all. Hard4Games dumps the game image and then the dataminers can work off that. I know this because I datamined extensively on Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii and New 3DS, and wrote many of the Cutting Room Floor pages for them.
Hard4Games will definitely use it to build up his portfolio after having received the disc to make a video on after dumping, the most Ben Heck has done with beta videogames is when he fixed up the Nintendo PlayStation prototype since he’s moreso a qualified technician. Don’t think I’ve seen a new video of his since

This needs pinned.
You should put the contents of the disc somewhere after you post the second video. This could unearth some amazing stuff
Get like Forest of Illusion or TCRF on this one

@@neonthunder3261 Forest of Illusion is dead
or just post it asap, please
Can't wait for this guy to dump it so I never have to watch this channel again
Wonder if we might find lost cutscenes that are classic YTP worthy.
As an update: It has new voice lines and an uncropped/cut off version of the cutscene.
Please dump it when you can. This is a legendary find and we would love to take a look at it!
impressed that this went 30 YEARS without horrible bit rot
Bit rot is mostly a meme
Great find!

you should contact Gaming Alexandria or the Video Game History Foundation regarding this
they should be able to help preserve this, very cool find
a decomp of that disc would be insane. real ported cutscenes and prob behind the scenes and cut content
turns out, it would be insane finds.

They must not be as sharp as they used to be. Hoverbat's Zelda 2 Pc Enhanced port is still up for grabs.

I BEG FOR THE BETA CUTSCENES
The game is in the good hands...
That's a really cool find. Would be interesting to see if there are any differences in the beta comapred to actual release.
Amazing find! Thank you for documenting this. I really look forward to seeing what’s on the disc. Subbed!

I'm definitely interested to see more. That said I don't think you'll get Nintendo ninjas for it lol

The Nintendo Ninjas are fake.
@@JaxCoolKartunes Sounds like something a Nintendo Ninja would say.
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls of our time
Very cool find. It makes all those trips digging through the trash worth it.
You should contact hard4games about preserving what is on that disc.
That's a great find! I would love to hear more about this.
Hotel Mario was a 90s Mario Spin-Off Game that Sold Horribly
At a goodwill? Wow thats a great find!!!!
Nintendo is not gonna sue, they never do when it comes to the CDI games or even the DiC cartoons, so I don't think it's anything to worry about
you can find some crazy stuff in these kinda stores at dirt cheap prices.
Get it dumped and preserved!

Whats better is that its one of the most memed mario games
Incredible Find!
It must've been hype when you saw it for sale.
Youve earned a gold star for this wonderful archivist work youve done :3 🌟

Image that disc on your PC as soon as you can.
What an awesome find
That’s amazing
I wonder if there is a former Philips employee in your area that may have more.

Don't give it to Hard4Games or Ben Heck, they'll steal the glory and videoviews from the dataminers.
