One homeschool mom told me you should always issue a transcript bc while your child may not be college bound at 18-19 there is no guarantee that they won’t want to take a few classes later in life. It’s so much easier to issue a transcript while the info is fresh rather then rushing around trying to put it together years later. I thought that was such a good reminder. I love your template this is amazing and will help so many families.

My daughter was homeschooled and we planned for her to attend public middle. It was awful. She was several years ahead academically and the school was too small to have any honors in middle. She has a beautiful transcript for the year she stayed, but she wanted to be homeschooled for 7th and 8th. I’m glad i found this as she needs a transcript for high school where there is access for honors and AP. They weren’t going to let her do honors or AP without a transcript from me. They wouldn’t just take test scores and her existing transcript. Arg!!! Thank you so much for showing me how to do this.

Thank you for making this series. We will be starting homeschool for the first time this year and I'm feeling overwhelmed! I have a son entering 10th grade and another in 8th grade. Both my husband and I work full time so I am desperately trying to find a curriculum(s) that will work for our family. Is it true that if my 10th grader does homeschool this school year, re-enrolling him next year will be problematic as some high schools do not accept homeschool curriculum? I have so many questions! (sigh!)
Each school district makes their own rules and will review the transcript to decide what they will accept and what they will not. Some districts also may require placement tests for certain classes as well. I would ask your school district prior to starting if that is a big concern for you. If you know for sure that this is only a one year decision and you will definitely do public school next year, it might be safer to do an online public school option this year so you do not have any worries next year. You’re welcome. If you are using the pdf and want to reformat it, you would need to type it into an editable program like Word or Excel.
HI, thank you so much for this! How/Where should I indicate a school change for a student who started out in public school but ended high school as a homeschooler?
I would footnote your transcript with the dates of the change and then you would use their transcript as well to complete the high school record,
Can you help me as far as my son did 9th and 10th grade in public school and then 11th and 12th with me. The thing is public school has 3 grades I guess for each quarter would I add them together and divide by 3 for their grades
Hi for California I can’t seem to find the right uniform grading scale conversion to put in the form do you have any tips?
I would go to the website for the local school district or the public school your child would attend. You should find it in one or both of those places.
When I did cp it was college classes taught by professors but not in a college. Cp transfered as prerequisite for later classes in college like I did Chem 101 so I didn't have to retake it in college but I didn't get those college credits I just had to take higher sciences and math classes.
Sounds more like AP here, although a test is required and not all colleges accept AP courses for opting out of college classes. CP generally just means classes at a high enough level to prepare the student for college classes and eliminate the need for remedial classes in college or prior to entering college.

What books would you recommend for a 9th grade honors class. We home school. I dont know how to find the textbooks that would be considered honors.
You have to build an honors class from whatever curriculum you use. In general honors classes are harder work than regular college prep classes and also more work. Is it advised to make a transcript for *only* high school credit years? Meaning, do i have to record their primary (elementary) years or only years where it’s necessary for documentation for college.
The transcript is only high school classes including high school level classes taken in middle school where a high school credit was earned. However, you should always keep a record of school work done each year in the early years too, in case you ever need to prove that you are providing a proper education.

It’s available as a pdf and for Mac. You’d need to retype it for Excel.

Hi! I'm having trouble editing the blank form because there are zeros at the end of each section. Why were those left blank for me to fill in? I'm trying to figure out how to get the zero out of there.
If you’re using the pdf you’ll need to retype the form into Excel or numbers.

It should be fine. Just make sure you meeting any specific state requirements.

Thank you! I have used both Christian and secular homeschooling materials. My daughter has had both formal and non-formal logic and we like to look at both sides of issues. We are a Christian family and we really didn’t use anything secular until middle school.
i need to modify my transcript to put the year in. The school year is too close to the Grade please help on trying to create space so i can have room to put school years through out
If you’re using the numbers file you can modify the column size. If you’re using the pdf, it can’t be modified but you could retype it into excel snd create something customized for you.

The first thing to do is find out your state’s homeschooling laws. Every state is different.

It sounds like you do Classical Conversations. So are we. Is it possible for you to share your finished templates? That would give us a better idea on what to do.
We stopped CC after middle school, but I have templates in the description box of this video as well as another video where I share in detail her complete transcript.
How domwe determine the gpa if it's not cp or honors?
You go to your state requirements on the department of education and follow that grading scale.
Where can you find your uniform grading scale conversion at? Who do you go to?
This was from the SC department of education. Go to your state’s department of Ed.

If not Google search your state grading scale. You can find it at the Department of Education or your local public high school’s website.
The free blank template isn't allowing me to add information on it. How do I get to work I downloaded it need help.
There are a couple of versions-you probably downloaded the pdf version which can’t be edited. The other version is in Numbers for Mac, and it can be edited with a Mac. If you email me I can send it to you. Email is in the description box.
If you are homeschooled by parents, and lose your transcript.... how can you get another? My parents and all my grandparents have passed ( Im 42) and I lost everything in a fire 10 years ago. Ive been thinking of going to school now that my kids are high school and college age but have no idea how I would be able to do that. My baby book, my childrens baby books were destroyed and I was devastated by all of this. Does anyone have any advice? I just dont know what to do and the thought of never being able to go to school, I got married young and worked/raised my family-is depressing.
That’s something I’ve never considered before. I would think it could be recreated. Have you tried contacting HSLDA or a local homeschool association in your state? That’s where I would start.

Did you keep records for middle and high school only?
No we are required to keep ferry records every year in SC. The transcript is just for high school level classes though.
I am 25 year old,in May I be 26 year old. My school levels is in 5th garder, could I go online school or home still?
You’d have to check your state laws.

Whatever you want to name it, or you could take that part out. Some states require you to name your homeschool.

When do you actually need transcripts just high-school grades 10 11 12? I'm in sc this is confusing to me my sons in 5th right now?
You need a high school transcript for all years of high school and any classes taken in middle school for high school credit.

The numbers format is. If you’re not using a Mac, you’d need to see if you can import the Numbers spreadsheet into Excel or recreate it yourself.

How can colleges,companies and governing bodies verify that the transcript is geniune or fake. Because majority of the schools, competitive exams, job sectors, embassies they ask for verified documents, and without any kind of stamp from any institution it is really hard to move on.
You have to see what the policy is for each college for homeschool students as far as the documentation that they require. But they also use the SAT score as a way to show that the transcript is reasonable too.

Hi can you use this type of transcript to transfer back to public school?
You can, but always keep in mind that all bets are off when transferring back to public school. They will decide which credits they will allow and what must be repeated and what grade your student will be placed in. I’ve heard stories of students doing well on placement tests yet still being forced to repeat a class because the school didn’t like the textbook used.

Yes, that’s correct, unless there were high school credits obtained in middle school. If so, include those as well.
