- Gungi summons his green lightsaber with the force and deflects the blasts from the droids, and they get out of there with their ship.
They talk to Gungi on the ship and decide to take him to his people, the Wookies from the planet Kashyyyk. The concern is if the Empire has taken over the planet, which they have. As they approach the planet, Hunter announces that the planet is releasing a lot of smoke, meaning the empire has definitely arrived and blown the place up.
Now for those who remember, Kashyyyk has a long history, it’s a jungle planet, very nature oriented and natural. Gungi’s saber hilt is wooden. The planet is like Jumanji basically.
Now Gungi has no memory of Kashyyy as younglings are taken to be Jedi at infantile stages of their life.
We got to experience Kashyyyk in fallen order, but before that in the game force unleashed, where we star the game off playing as Vader as he fights the Wookies and then meets baby Galen Marek.
As they walk through the forest, Gungi and the batch meet some giant spiders which are like the ones we fight in the KOTOR game, as he uses either beast control like anakin did agasint the reek in episode 2 in the genosian arena, or just communicated with it by not being violent, causing them to step aside for safe passage.
They find a wookie being held hostage as Trandoshans ride imperial tanks from the clone wars and put the surrounding trees on fire. So it’s evident the empire wanted Kashyyyk and they decided who better to work with than the trandoshans who passionately hate the fur balls.
Gungi saves the day by igniting his lightsaber and it’s a fun scene much like the clone wars. Much destruction has become of beautiful Kashyyyk. Trandoshans have enslaved Wookies forever, and they two races absolutely hate each other. Bossk and Black Krrsantan have fought each other close to death many times, and it was something I was hoping to see in the book of boba fett show.
Maybe one day…
They are met by some Wookie tribesmen and taken to the Elder of the village, who accomodates them with food and drink. As Trandoshans and Clonetroopers of the Empire come across the saber slash marks from Gungi’s lightsaber, they vow to kill the Jedi, and are now coming for him and the Bad Batch. Tech and the Elder discover this convoy headed their way, when the Bad Batch decide to stay and fight, as the Wookies have been a massive ally to the republic during the war, and helped fight alongside them.
They speak to the trees spiritually and get ready for war. A massive epic battle ensues and Gungi proves his worth as a Jedi as he goes up against the leader Trandoshan, who gets picked apart by the spiders, caught in their web and lifted up into the trees to be probably eaten.
Now i will mention that Trandoshans use fire to obviously burn trees and the forest, but also this reminded me of how Boba beat Chewbacca in a fight once in the canon comics by putting his fur on fire. Wookies are notoriously physically powerful creatures, and so are Trandoshans. On another note, for Wrecker to knock out a trandoshan in one hit, really proves his strength. They don’t go down easy.
Hunter says they’re both just kids but they don’t get to be in this galaxy, which is true, and sad because neither of them got the enjoy their youth. Omega with being locked up on Kamino as a science experiment, and then with Gungi running for his life from Order 66, the two have had to grow up really fast and it’ll make them quite formidable characters when they are fully grown.
The Elder speaks the native language of Kashyyyk, Shyriiwook, and says when a young one leaves, the trees weep, and when they return, the trees sing. So the trees on Kashyyyk have been known to be sentient and to speak to the Wookies, and vice versa.

In Clone Wars Gungi's test to get his crystal was patience, and not rushing right in. I like how at the start he seems to have backslid, he reacts more instinctively, jumping in before the others are ready. But at the end he knew continuing to fight that Trandosian would kill them both, so he stopped, while the Trandosian kept fighting and died.
I really hope we learn what happened to Sev. Gungi leaving that trandosan to the spiders was VERY wookie of him.
Same! I was hoping we would see Sev living with the Wookies. They already have shown Scorch in Season 1 of Bad Batch, and he was in a training of Season 2 I think also. Would’ve been a perfect opportunity to introduce Sev in this episode and then maybe have him join the batch as like the new Crosshair, or have him be taken to Rex and Gregor.

@@protozoanpro I know. I hope Republic Commando gets remade. Could be the fps that Respawn is working on. I still count the original game as part of canon though. Although they show holograms of phase 1 clones when they should be phase 2.
@@gunnarb9525 I see Sev having a long braided wookie like beard with long matted dreadlocks his armor having trandoshan trophies like claws and fangs around his neck and a gnarly scar on the side of his face or head either one. His intro being explosions and a trando death scream behind him. I really would love to see that. That's an entrance

I think it’s a nice touch that Hunter speaks Wookie. A small detail, but it adds to his character.

@@henrylarson1 Well in the unfinished/deleted episodes of season 6, they were going to have the Bad Batch stationed with Yoda during the Battle of Kashyyyk.

I love Gungi, I hope we get to see more of him. I was actually hoping he might actually invoke the Wookiee tradition, despite being a Jedi, of owing a life debt and essentially bind himself to Omega for saving him and helping his people. It would be a really cool development and absolutely amazing to see them working together as an inseparable team like Han and Chewie in the New Republic era, and also give Omega someone she can rely on when the Bad Batch inevitably pass from their accelerated aging so she's not alone in the Galaxy. Can just imagine them showing up in the Ahsoka show, Omega being wary at first and then Gungi just giving Ahsoka a massive hug remembering when she protected him and the other younglings.

This episode was definitely lit! I love that we got Gungi back, I'm beyond grateful that we finally got to see Kashiek in Clone Wars animation, and lbh who doesn't love wookies.
For me personally, this was the best Bad Batch episode to date! The ambiance and setting for this episode was amazing! So glad that we have Dave Filoni to give us these REAL Star Wars experiences once more…

Dave's working on at least 3 shows! Seems like he already has a blank check to do whatever projects he wants! At least on the TV side of things.
I rock with this episode heavy, from the score, the ambience, the theme. It felt peak star wars
I loved hunters reaction when he found out gungi is a jedi.
Ive noticed many times in this episode gungi has grown a LOT in the force. He isnt just any youngling anymore. He has a lot of skill, form in his saber movement, and has surrounding awareness.(dodging a bullet from behind him) its so cool to see he has such a great fighting style and if he survives he would undoubtedly be an amazing jedi.
I hope he ends up in the mandalorian at Luke's academy as a jedi master that would be awesome imo

Love the fact that they introduced certain things about Kashykk, as well as the tribe, that was going to be introduced in the unfinished Kahyyk arc from the clone wars.
Love gungi, can't wait for the 2 midseason finale episodes.

It was definitely a fun great episode. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t get to see any of the creatures from Fallen Order in there like the Wyyyschok spider since we saw all those webs in the forest. I was also surprised that the clone troopers listened to the Trandoshan and didn’t report to command about a Jedi’s presence on that system considering that it’s what I assume to be a strict protocol when it comes to notifying the Inquisitors about possible Jedi sightings. Guess the Bad Batch lucked out there. Also I think those were repurposed Separatist tanks not Imperial.

Honestly i think thats one of the reasons they made the bad batch to show us some of the cut content we never got to see in a way it make sense even if its just filler its just fun to see them embark on unpredictabel and fun but dangerous journeys for us to see some of the cut content while they are being hunted by the empire a lot of the cut content can certainly be made into good filler and maybe might extend the life of the series they really seem to love this series so they want it to go on for as long as they can

One of the coolest parts of the episode was when Gungi jumped in and rescued the wookie who was held captive by the Trandoshans. Think of how much dispair he felt just before Gungi showed up. Gungi and the Bad Batch coming out of nowhere must have been so random, but it was proof that hope always exists in the galaxy.
I love this episode so much. It was so cool seeing Gungi again and even if it is a "filler" it's good filler

@@jonathanking9954 frankly, when it comes to some shows I don't see a need to refer to any of the episodes as filler. Like for instance this show, generally, this season specifically, is more based around one off maybe two off stories due to how little you really can do with them that is too big without killing them off. When it's shows with a continuous story yeah I get that but shows where there is no continuous story there really isn't much to be filler for

This was a really great episode and a step up from last week's subpar episode. Gungi returning again was a great treat and it's nice to see one of the younglings survive Order 66. It makes me wonder what happened to the others though. Was he the only one to survive, or are the rest of his friends scattered and trying to survive too? One thing in this episode that I found a bit strange was that the Bad Batch didn't mind killing the Trandoshins, but they still continue to stun clones. I wonder why.
Overall, this episode had some solid character development for pretty much everyone, it's nice to see Kashyyyk again after so long, and the bits of Wrecker being like a Wookie were pretty funny. A really great episode overall.
I hope his friends are still alive and they could all meet up in future
The reason the Bad Batch shoots the trandoshans with live fire and clone troopers with stun blast is because they view the clones as their brothers. They know the clones are under control of the inhibitor chip and are not themselves. Trandoshans are slavers who work for the empire. Why should the Bad Batch feel care about them?
I suspect they still stun clones when they can because they still see them as kinda brothers made more sympathetic by being under the influence of the chip (or so we think). The trandoshans meanwhile have no redeeming qualiities so killing them is fair game

Gungi reminded me a lot of Ezra with his actions in this episode. Snatching the lightsaber off the enemies belt and communication with a plant and it’s animals
i really enjoyed the episode but i want the bigger story. This should have been episode 4 and we should be into crosshair and cody and the overall fate of the clones. It was a great episode i really enjoyed it.

Today's episode was so good and very enjoyable. Probably my favorite episode so far, with the Crosshair & Cody episode being 2nd. I hope they continue with looking more into events post order 66 such as other Jedi survivors, the Bad Batch story with Crosshair (which I'm sure they will), and just overall good Star Wars lore.
This was a really good episode. Be cool to see more of Gunji sometime down the line.
Though my favorite type of Episodes are those that are clearly connected and move the story forward, I definitely don't mind filler episodes with GREAT MEANING. The podrace and treasure hunt were stupid. This episode however was great. The Bad Batch worked together to help someone. The fact that it was Gungi, a beloved fan favorite from Clone Wars, made it even better. Great job, FF!
Gungi definitely one of my favorites since it's very rare to see a Wookie Jedi
Now this was a great episode and the wookie trandosha scene was good to see and fit well into this episode especially the wookie elements and you telling the story makes it even better gonna be fun next Wednesday with the two part episode.

The fact Sev wasn't in this episode is a sin. They where on Kashyyyk fighting trandos post order 66. He could have made a great replacement for crosshair on their squad and then eventually join up with rex and possibly see scorch again.

I have had a story idea about younglings running from the Empire.
There is a Jedi with them but he gets killed early when he was meeting a smuggler that happens to be a padawan that ran from the Jedi temple.
The Jedi was his old master that had kept an eye on him, because of a vision he had of him doing great things.
Expect fates worse than death.
Communicating with the trees was a nice touch to how Yoda who said life breathes the force and it let's it grow

Omega says she ‘feels’ something is wrong about that place and doesnt like it before wandering off to see Gunji being beaten. I think the writers are trying to hint she’s a force-sensitive clone.

I’d love to see more gungi episodes or even a series when he’s older. A Wookie Jedi fully grown that’s powerful very cool.
If he even survived lol. Taking him to one of the top 5 empire OPs home world was not very smart especially after they get that report of a Jedi. One can argue this explains why they went that hard on extermination and slavery there

The intelligent spider creatures reminded me of the Krykna, the spider creatures from Rebels.
Interesting to see the Trandosian is using a flamethrower. The perfect weapon for their character as said, but also can't be parried by a lightsaber.
I like this episode a lot because we got to see so many animals and insects and it was just amazing.
I would like to see Disney use some filler episodes to also focus more on each bad batch member. I really feel like we are not getting enough interaction with Echo which is disappointing 😕
Still a little upset that Sev has not returned or been mentioned. Last saw him on Kashyyyk in the game too. Real shame that after this, I don't know if we will ever get to see him after the single cameo in the one scene in the Clone Wars show.
Fun fact: there were unfinished clone Wars elements adapted into this episode, most notably from the unfinished kashyyyk arc.

I know it’s relatively off topic but I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they think omega is force sensitive and that’s how she always senses these things going on. Like she felt Gungees distress and went towards it. But I believe the empire values her so much because she holds a bit of the bad batches abilities. For instance, she feels the disturbances because she has hunters ability which is kinda hinted at when she’s copying him in one of the first episodes. She has techs intelligence solely based off of the fact that she retains so much knowledge and learns insanely fast. She sees things differently and always finds a different angle like cross hair. And sadly there’s nothing for Recker but I just think that’s because she hasn’t grown into it yet. Another hint is that she feels the electromagnetic changes of Kashyyk which is how she develops the sense rather then connecting to it like the Wookiee would.
Are clones capable of Force sensitivity?
As shady as Sid's face looked in a prior episode, she definitely could be after Gungi.
That would be a crazy twist, if it was actually Cid who was trying to buy him. It makes sense, she is a Trandoshan, and we have heard that she isn’t as nice as she seems.
I wonder if Gungi could become the reason they go to Coruscant ( as shown in the trailer).
If someone actually informs the Empire of a Jedi then an inquisitor will show up, or this early in the timeline even Vader himself.
But since Gungi is a kid whoever comes could take him for questioning and torture or reconditioning instead of killing him. And he will be taken to the Inquisitorious Headquarters that should still be on Coruscant at this point . So the Bad Batch will go there to save him.
I’m loving the adventures that the team keeps getting caught up in. And now no stun shots, straight up blaster fire. Hey I had a question I signed up for Audible with the premium membership but it doesn’t include all the Star Wars novels, why is that?
Great episode. Just kind of sad as Gungi lost all his friends (other younglings) and he is all alone. It was nice to see him reunite with some wookies who take him in! Gungi is the goat 🥲

Gungi!!!! Loved that he survived. A Wookiee Jedi is so rare and I always wondered what happened to him after Clone Wars. He was one of my favorites. Great episode 10/10 for me.

By far my favorite lightsaber! Being a big fan of wookies as well...one of my favorite characters, hands down! Love his nature and the way he handles things. Hope he gets a bigger spotlight one day. "Tales of the Wookies"

The only thing i'm disappointed about is that there were no Wyyyschok spiders from Fallen Order. Those things were terrifying.
