Reading the title scuffs my brain as I remember one certain scene where grievous has a 212th clone on the ground where he shortly after breaks the 212th clone's neck 🗿
a warriors respect for the opposition is a sign of a true battle hardened warrior, for they may fight for many other reasons at first, but soon enough its only for the thrill of the fight
Honor among soldiers and warriors is something understood for years. Either it be by giving them an honorable death or simply respecting them during combat and letting them live to fight again. I'm not really surprised another warrior would respect a group of other warriors . Such as grievous respecting the clones. They never ran away from him . Thinking back to the 212th fighting him in the corridor . And the 501st fighting him on the comm station. Both fights witch had purpose to stall him or to capture him . Always loved the clones for there honor and spirit
Watching this made me think, what if General Grievous commanded a clone army? What would the name and specialty of that division? Would he still have the lightsabers tho or a different weapon?
Grevious = A machine created for war / Clones = Soldiers genetically cloned and created for war. / We have seen that in both the stories of the Clones and that of Grevious, they both are creations that wish for a level of freedom but are forced into war. In The Clone Wars, Captain Rex finds a Clone who took his armor off and went rouge who had a wife and daughter. Captain Rex made the decision NOT to inform the Republic of this Clone so that the Clone can stay with his family. Clones are not mindless soldiers, and neither is Grevious.
I mean in the short clone wars clips we got with clones vs grievous, the clones faced him head on and even got physical with him, despite jedi or any other regular species backing or retreating from him. That sure leaves room for respect for clones
The best part is just like Anakin he was "powerful in the force" in eyes of kaleesh and they believed him to be almost a god he was a hero but just like anakin fell from grace manipulated

Ironic then that Greivous would lead a bloody assault through the Republic named "Durge's Lance", named after the bounty hunter who hated and killed clone troopers as brutally and horribly as possible.
i REALLY WISH this stuff was talked about in the clone wars series, i got so tired of Grievous being cartoonishly evil when, in fact the entire time he had a VERY understandable reason for being the way that he was, huge missed opportunity in my opinion.
Grievous would've made a wonderful ruler of Mandalore. He would've bested anyone in single combat that was trying to rival him (Maul would be debatable) and he understood the warrior's code. Just imagine the damage he could've done if Grievous has an entire Mandalorian army and Mandalore the support of the Confederacy of independent systems. Understandable why neither Dooku or Sidious wanted that
@@Dass_Jennir Grievous was only able to best the Jedi because his cybernetics allowed him to surpress their connection to the force with constant attacks and analysing their Form to use a counter Form. As much as I like Grievous, his pre-cyborg version wouldn't best Maul, not even Pre Vizla. I'd be fair if Vizla didn't had his gear though
Imagine an AU where Kreia either won out, the Jedi told the republic to BTFO, Dooku's imprinting didn't stick, or whatever else needed to happen, but Grievous still ends up a Cyborg but he's with the Republic, instead, whatever it takes, Just imagine if Greivous had but 1 Clone Army.
This story and and the first TV show version of grievous would have been of a great combination and would have been my favorite but of course the movies ruined him
Might be onto something. After all, when the droids are given their orders, they just follow them, and march head long into hostile contact, even if they're outgunned, and never take cover. Clones have a man go down, and they help the wounded if they can, they take cover, and as stated, they know when to fall back when a fight isn't going well, celebrate in their victories, a lotta things his own people probably did. And after all, we do have to consider, most battles where Grievous wasn't leading the droids, they did seem to lose more battles than they won.
I really appreciate this video. I love it when people actually pay attention to the past that Grievous had, prior to his confrontations with the Republic. It's a shame that the 3D Clone Wars series kind of brushed over it. This made for a deeper character. Much better than the moustache twirling caricature that the 3D Clone Wars series depicted him as. Great video! :)
Grievous was a Muppet on strings . A moment in Darkside ànd a force enabled soul could've crushed him like a can of Coca Cola . Mind my manners , he did become a nightmare to all and sundry .
Yes. Absolutely Disney already de-canonized Legends material, if they really wanted to they could say he survived somehow, so no matter what they do it would be interesting, if it was done right
I have always thought grievous to be a cool villain and wish he had more screen time. I also kinda want to see a star wars "what if" as to what might have happen had grievous survived his encounter with Kanobi and escaped.
Now I want to see a what if video. What if grievous successfully captured Kamino and created a clone army. How would he treat them? Would the clones be loyal to him?
Actually, for me this video begs a question in my mind... What if Grievous had led the clone army and the Republic had led the droid army?... I have a feeling Grievous would have had the Republic begging for mercy in no time. 🤔
Maybe Grievous might have respected clone troopers, but would they respect him? I would divide clones into two groups. Those who served under the Jedi and those who served under regular officers. The first category would hate him. While they wouldn’t accept all Jedi values, they would accept a few and are also the ones most bound to the idea of what the Galactic Republic should be, a force of good and justice. Because of these values they accept to an extent, they will see Grievous as a monster. Sure, any who find out about his pre-cyborg state would be sympathetic and hurt to see the Republic and Jedi are far from perfect. Still, if they really believe in the values of the Jedi and the Republic, they’ll see Grievous as a guy who’s crossed so many lines. Now for the clones in the second category who served under regular officers, I would expect them to be more loyal to the Empire. They are of course more brutal and view stuff like mercy and laws on war crimes to be ways to limit the military from doing its job. They’ll hate Grievous for his crimes of course, but they’ll also respect his brutal side. Some may even wish the Republic could just do the same things instead of trying to act moral. Expect these clones to resist the Imperial order to be phased out and stay in the Empire anyway they can, and to be the type to support stuff like the Death Star, Moff Tarkin, and Vader.
I feel like any warrior or people with the undersatanding of war in the galaxy respected clones in some way. Dooku was wary of them and knew how superior they were to droids, the jedi watched their efficiency as they succeded even when their plans were flawed, grievious saw them as worthy opponents and so on....
Love the thumbnail. Lol Just picturing Grievous expecting huge numbers of troopers but instead it's just a small squad. And he's not on a planet particularly valuable to the CIS. So he just bro fists a random Clone and leaves all while giving the middle finger to a Jedi who just happened to be there saying his lightsaber isn't worth it
Such a shame Dave Felony and George Lucas decided to rewrite General Grievous for the Clone Wars show, not only his abilities and part of his character (making him a joke) but also his origin story. The Expanded Universe General Grievous may have been a villain but he was also a tragic figure due to what happened to his people, his mate and himself turned into a cyborg against his will by th manipulations of the Sith, and his hatred towards the Republic was understandable. And in terms of power he could fight and defeat several Jedi, including members of the Jedi Council at the same time. The Clone Wars general Grievous on the other hand had trouble with even a basic Jedi (despite the show trying to portray him has a Jedi killer) and even Dooku didn't think he could defeat a single Jedi master, the only time he did so was through treachery and with the help of his magna guards. Has for origin story he was simply a great warrior who was obsessed to become even better and so WILLINGLY became a cyborg over time until he became mostly machine, unlike the REAL General Grievious who despised his condition due to this making him closer to droid than warrior the Clone Wars General Grievious called his changes has improvements, removing the tragic aspect of the character.

I'm sure Grevious would love to have the clones under his command. They follow orders, aren't incompetent morons most of the time, and are very effective combatants. He certainly would treat them with actual respect compared to the droids he was stuck with during the war.
But the droids are only rlly incompetent af in the clone wars.
@Jakob And that's where they got actual depictions other than cannon fodder to be shot and slashed by clones and jedi, not much else really. Only in The Clone Wars and Episode 3 do we see Grivious interact with Battle Droids, and there he obviously hates them very much. So there's not much else to say, he just hates droids and respects the clones.
We need a general grievous a star wars story
If Wader and Griveous had sat down around a table and talked about their own perspectives and experiences on war, code, society, etc., would they have gotten on each other's good side/respected each other's war sides? Anything ore somthing else?
Grevious commanding the clone army would be unassailable.
Imagine Grievous and the clone army vs the mando crusaders
@@bwc-chvd Take my money you bastard
This actually explains a lot of the deaths the clones faced on the clone wars the more cowardly clones got brutally killed and the honorable ones got a warriors death 🫡 respect to grievous
We all know Grievous 100% would've have had a clone army of his own if Dooku let him.
He _hated_ those battle droids.
LEGENDS GG: A badass with a saddening backstory, more than worthy of the titles general and Jedi killer.
Canon GG, TCWs: An idiot and a coward that loses every, single, fight.
Thanks to Dave Filoni, who people praise as some Star Wars god
I wonder in the opening narration.. if Grevious did it the way he did there was ALSO a sorta message to Gunray too. A sorta "keep pushing it doing dumb BS an I'll let them end/capture you..." Kinda thing.. seeing his mindset an that he didn't seem to like most CIS much more, some maybe even hated MORE, then his enemies..
“You know, you all are expendable to the republic but you fight and die for your people. I respect that”
General Grevious with his lightsabers: I have you four to one!
Obiwan: I like those odds.
This video honestly makes me think Grevious is one of the most interesting characters in Star Wars, almost on the level of Anakin and Obi-Wan.
It would be cool to see Grevious one v one a clone commando in a duel
It was nice grievous was somewhat more fleshed out in the clone wars series. But given how much backstory grievous has, certainly deserves more recognition.
If Grievous respected any Jedi, Obi-Wan and Anakin would definitely be on that list, now that’s a good video idea. ‘Which Jedi did Grievous respect?’
I just thought he was the classic villain but he was really a sane, understanding person, may he rest his heart literally burned while dying
General Grievous will always be my favorite Star Wars character, followed closely by K2-SO, and the CIS in general
K2-S0 is such a great character, his death had me torn up.
Why couldn’t he have just pulled an HK-47 and copy his programming into all of his brothers?!
Imperials across the scream in confusion as their KX security droids suddenly go from cold machines, into slouching wise assess that slap the shit out of all of them and the Rebellion now finds itself with a droid army of its own, United by its battle cry: FOR CASSIAN!
Let me guess, he admires them because they're actual competent soldiers with a brain.
Reading the title scuffs my brain as I remember one certain scene where grievous has a 212th clone on the ground where he shortly after breaks the 212th clone's neck 🗿
Your thumbnails are always a work of art
If there ever is a Star Wars What If. I would love to see a Grevious on the republic side.
I mean, it wasnt like the republic was the "good" side.
"But know that I, General Grievous, am not entirely without mercy. I shall grant you all the honor of a Warriors Death!"
a warriors respect for the opposition is a sign of a true battle hardened warrior, for they may fight for many other reasons at first, but soon enough its only for the thrill of the fight
0:22
“…He was usually sure to give them a warrior’s death”
Clone that got stomped to death: 👁️👄👁️
"Game recognizes game"~ old kaleesh proverb.
I mean in the short clone wars clips we got with clones vs grievous, the clones faced him head on and even got physical with him, despite jedi or any other regular species backing or retreating from him. That sure leaves room for respect for clones
Interesting, I never even imagined that this was a thing until now. Guess you do learn new things every day.
I thought it brought a sense of civility to Grievous who until now I always thought was a heartless droid, I gained a whole new respect for him.
The best part is just like Anakin he was "powerful in the force" in eyes of kaleesh and they believed him to be almost a god he was a hero but just like anakin fell from grace manipulated
Now I want to see the “what if the Jedi were on the separatist side” but grievous was on the republics side. I want to see General grevious in charge of a clone battalion
So... Honorable death includes him just stomping a clones head with his feet claws?
This is why General Greivous is one of my favorite characters
That's kinda heartwarming to have a manly appreciation of an opponent
Maybe Grievous likes the Clone Bois bc he watch The Clone Wars
I wonder how Grievous would fare as a General on the republics side or, if one wants to make it in that direction, CIS if they went the clone route
I love it, and it helps him feel less of a melodramatic villian, and more of a 'humanised' character. He can be related to when we KNOW there is more to him than what we got to see.
I love any story that blurs the lines of good guys and bad guys, everyone is a person and everyone has their reasons for war.
These are but dreams now... Dreams of a past that continue to fade.
Of late, I have tasted failure.
The bitter blood in my mouth is mine.
I need rejuvenation... And I find it in war.
But these troops I command...
They are not the warriors of my past.
They are not the warriors of my dreams.
(source: The Dreams of General Grievous)
Gist of the video is: warrior culture recognizes warrior culture.
But imagine if grievous was in the republic what a clone battalion could do under his command
I always figured he would considering how he often complained how bad his Droids were in comparison
I bet grievous would have had the upmost respect for Hevy
Grievous would've made a wonderful ruler of Mandalore.
He would've bested anyone in single combat that was trying to rival him (Maul would be debatable) and he understood the warrior's code.
Just imagine the damage he could've done if Grievous has an entire Mandalorian army and Mandalore the support of the Confederacy of independent systems.
Understandable why neither Dooku or Sidious wanted that
If we are talking about cyborg Grievous, yeah, he would beat Maul if he doesn't give him time to use the dark side.
Imagine an AU where Kreia either won out, the Jedi told the republic to BTFO, Dooku's imprinting didn't stick, or whatever else needed to happen, but Grievous still ends up a Cyborg but he's with the Republic, instead,
whatever it takes,
Just imagine if Greivous had but 1 Clone Army.
Ah, my favourite Star Wars character.
Seeing grevious fist bump a clone is something wholesome I did not expect to see today.
Grievous doesn’t like the droids and wishes he had clones instead because they’re more effective soldiers.
"recognised the value of a good retreat" lol
0:30 oh…so I guess throwing them off a massive cliff with a one wheeled spider thing is a warriors death…
Cool, didn’t know that.
Goated thumbnail
Grievous was a Muppet on strings . A moment in Darkside ànd a force enabled soul could've crushed him like a can of Coca Cola . Mind my manners , he did become a nightmare to all and sundry .
Stuff like this really makes me question if the Jedi were the “good guys”.
I agree because I mean very few Jedi earned his respect in battle so why wouldn’t the clones. They proved to be worthy of it
geetsly: we need to dive deep into general grievous past
witch is what we'll be doing again I MEAN today
Anyone else want a Grievous show
Yes. Absolutely
Disney already de-canonized Legends material, if they really wanted to they could say he survived somehow, so no matter what they do it would be interesting, if it was done right
@@HackRazor1012 I find it very unlikely he would survive having his organs incinerated without use of the Force.
@@darknessoftruth9314 oh no it's completely unlikely, but I wouldn't put it past Disney
@@HackRazor1012 Also true. But pulling another Palpitine would likely be the straw that breaks the fan base.
I have always thought grievous to be a cool villain and wish he had more screen time. I also kinda want to see a star wars "what if" as to what might have happen had grievous survived his encounter with Kanobi and escaped.
Nothing like enjoying Christmas by watching Star Wars videos.
Makes sense, grivous comes from a spartan like workd and clones are like spartans so I guess he has mutual respect
His admiration should be directed at the Senate.
you deserve more subs and attention , easily the best star wars channel ever
Expands my love for Grievous more,I love this.
