With oil or kerosene lamps, have shelves set up in each room, on the wall and use Museum wax to secure the lamps to the shelves. Makes them safer to use. Keep scissors on the shelves so can trim the wicks. Look into wick cutting shapes for different types of light out put. I have lots of dollar store flashlights, they have some great ones. Prestige the,. On top the fridge, magnet attached under the medicine cabinet, by bedsides and near light switched on command strip hooks to fin easily fertiling about in the dark. Magnet clips from the dollar store work great for keeping headlights on the fridge, easy to find. Costco a batteries work great and come in huge packs.I’m looking into rechargeable batteries and getting more battery banks. Emergency blankets and double stick tape from the window insulation aisle at Wallyworld work great on windows. You can see out in the day and keeps your light profile down at night. You don't people coming to your house, because they see you have light. I also keep those cheap $1 flashlights and headlights from Wallyworld, to give away. When putting up Mylar blankets, use clean dry hands, go slow and get the Mylar blankets as taut as possible, to see out better. Mylar smudges like crazy, clean dry hands are a must when installing. I changed all my old flashlights over to led bulbs, much brighter and last longer and are better. I switched over my dad's old flashlight from the giant square battery to a D cell Amazon adapter, easier to use battery size. I'm going to buy some LED battery operated lights from the Christmas sale at Wallyworld for bathroom lighting that isn't too bright and easy on battery usage. I'm crazy about lighting. Makes me feel better in the scary dark. I also have reasonable night vision and even a toy night vision that works great in the dark. Great vid dude. Survival depends on water as a priority rather than food. Boiling and filtering water means carrying less toilet paper. Water is needed for treatment of radiation sickness. GI had a cup and an ova frying pan mess kit with carrier. ( Converted from the side to a butt pack.) Guess they liked making hardtack and corn dodgers. The forgotten item is the GI steel pot with removable sun helmet. It slowed boiling of water..The steel pot protects from shrapnel and glancing bullet fire. Kevlar does not serve the water purification purpose. You might find the Arctic kits have a larger snow melting container. It reminds me of Leith and water.( Welcome to Leith.) Marines and Soldiers with no skills . No water. Outhouse full. The well pipe capped off . Water purchased by the gallon an hour away. ( My gallons of drinking water appropriated by the females as wash water ) The Cannonball River ten miles. What do we do for water this winter- when the roads are snowbound? ( Melt Snow. Oh. ) The Dudes then went to the County Dude Ranch. True Story.

Just bought one. After wearing for a minute, I can tell I need a proper H harness and not the silly hybrid Y harness weirdness. Solid vid! Solid demo! Solid suggestions! It is a bit wider than most, but that allows you to get your gear off to the side and outta your way........ as long as you don't mind gear in your armpits!😂😂😂

I’m looking to modify my Demko Armiger 4: it’s a very simple sheath design with what looks like the potential to add on a pouch. The sheath is only 4.75” long by 3.50” wide so I’m trying to find a little clip pouch that will fit a ferro rod, a smith’s sharpening tool, and an Emergency Space Blanket.

the US two piece mess kit you kept the knife spoon and fork in it put it together ring side to other pan as you said one big side for main meal the other for sides after eating you kept together and added knife spoon and fork on handle carried it to a 55gallon drum with fire under it and had soap mixed in the water dunk it then a separate one with clean water boiling dunk and cleaning was done

My favorite is the Swedish one, yes, it's on the heavy side but very high quality and works fine even in cold weather and comes with a Trangia burner. Paid something like 20 euros for mine but it was over 10 years ago. Older model with a stainless steel pot too, the later ones are aluminium. And the German cutlery set is the best in my opinion, again a little heavy but has full size utensils that completely separate from the set so they are as easy to use as your regular tableware. Takes some practice to put back together though.

Good kit, as an instructor I completely agree with having redundant pens, ear pro, medical, tools, etc. Even when you provide a list of ALL required equipment, it never fails...

I have seen an RTAKII bend because of a huge knot in a piece of some dry Australian wood, and you know that stuff can be quite gnarly, and it just went through it like nothing and went back it's original shape. If he used a Junglas, it would stay bent or chip for sure but the RTAKII just took it and came out on top. I feel that this is the advantage of using 5160 over 1095 on a large knife. I love my RTAKII which I carry with my Esee 6. It's the perfect combo for me.

A loadout is only as good as the legs, lungs and brains supporting it. I figure if it holds water, provides protection, shelter and nourishment and you can still carry it then there is no problem. You look like you can carry that and know how to use it all. Thank you. I see a lot of gear packed that some people have never tried, nor carried. Some of it is the goofiest stuff I have seen. This old man, I carry a 20-27 pound pack, sidearm and phone about 900-1,100 miles a year while walking the dog in between gardening and other chores. It keeps my BP down and my heart rate up.

I have the IFAK Trauma kit, i bring it with me when i go on hike or when i go out in the wild... i bring the EDC one with me at work or something like that... both amazing!

I own multiples rifle slings, clothes bags and a chest rig i purchased off Ebay i believe because SOE was always sold out. They aren't cheap in price because they aren't built cheap. They are masters of their trade and the owner has high quality standards.
