I've had my 1968 MGB Roadstar for close to 56 years and a couple suggestions for some comments you made on this video . In the USA, a product is sold called "Rain-X". Applied properly to your windscreen, rain just beads up and rolls off your windscreen at speeds around 25mph and higher. Seldom need to use the windshiled wipers if Rain-X is on my windscreen. Re: heater output and interior comfort, when my MGB was my only car for year round use, I'd install a 165 degree thermostat for use in the summer / warmer and a 195 degree thermostat during the cold, winter months. Even with snow and ice on the "rag top", once the 195 degree thermostat got up to operating temperature, it was always warm and cozy in my MGB. Keep the videos going, very enjoyable Cheers - Bob
Thanks very much for the tips! Yes a few folks have recommended rain-x amongst others, the thermostat tip is a good one though, makes sense!! Glad you enjoyed the videos, hope to share some more like this soon once I can get way with it again 🤣🤣
A very impressive video series, I must say. Not only was the scenery spectacular but the interaction you have with your viewers while on the trip was excellent also. Very informative and entertaining. And the video production and choice of music was outstanding. This is not a trip for everyone, but for those who enjoy driving their little British sports cars it is very inticing. I am actualy contemplating a road trip in an MGB from Newcastle to the Lake District and back again and your video has definately whet my appetite. I'm looking forward to seeing any future trips you do. Keep up the good work.
A fantastic series of video beautifully presented and a great classic car to boot, (PS should of had a Triumph Stag though!!!!) Bob (Stag owner - of course) also had an MGB.
What an excellent series of Videos. Beautiful photography and video and superbly put together. Really well done. I'm amazed there hasn't been more views.
Great video, really enjoyed this mini series. Wiper wise, I think your wiper motor needs rebuilding, super easy job, the grease over time goes hard and gooey which results in the intermittent issues you explained, wipers going fast, slow, stopping completely etc. Replace the grease give it a good clean out and I'm sure you will be golden.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely try and get a look at that at some point, some have suggested an earthing thing but yeah could just as likely be motor assembly 👍 thanks for watching! 🙌
Hi Mark, thanks so much for that trip, I think we enjoy that almost as much as you. It the usual man and machine thing, the planning was probably as much fun as the doing, thanks again mate, I shall remember that amazing journey for a long time.
Thank you very much for the kind words! I agree, I’m a big fan of the ‘Long Way’ motorbike shows and it’s always the first one where they’re packing up, deciding the route etc that I really enjoy so that’s why I made sure I did a ‘prep’ video this time 😅
I know exactly what you mean with people pointing and wanting to talk about a car. As well as my beloved XK8, I have a Triumph Acclaim which was the same make my Dad had when I passed my drivung test 35yrs ago, so drove it all the time, so bought one a couple of years ago, and the amount of conversations I've had with people with fond memories of the car happens every day I drive it. Loved your Skye series, and note the Lotus is getting some love. Looking forward to seeing rhe project move on. Cheers Mark!
Thanks very much for the comment! Yes normally folks who have had the same car or knew someone who did, often about the memories associated with it, that’s why trips like this are good as I’ll hopefully remember my little adventure in years to come and talk about it to strangers at petrol stations 😂 love it! Yes hoping to get some lotus progress soon but not going to get a video out for a bit due to upcoming holidays etc! Always something in the way 😅
thank you so much for the right and wrong conclusion section.. I drive a 2009 mk 6.5 1.4 ltr ford fiesta. A small family run around soon to become a classic as ford plan on ending the Fiesta model.. I am a huge Scotland driving fan,, Your round up that its the scenery that is the star not the car ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON.. Its a fact that big or fast cars or bikes diminish the expierience as you so rightly point out..Many bikers with a huge you tube following have taken smaller machines to Scotland and they all readily admit that these trips are among the very best riding expieriences of Scotland, And I mean going from the 1250 BMW GS tourers down to 125cc machines.. Never not had a smile on their faces,. Scotland.. God made it so we could expierience heaven on earth. Then he made midges so we also knew Hell on earth.🤓💯❤🩹🙏🤳
Great comment! Thanks very much for the positive feedback, interesting about the bikes, looking forward to passing my test but I’m very happy on a small cc and simple machine as it feels like that’s the purest form of enjoying biking especially on ‘B’ roads. I like that saying for Scotland 🤣 will have to remember that! Thanks very much for watching!!
Thanks Tom! The travel ones are my favourite to make but they also require the most planning and expense 🙈 hoping to try and do at least a couple of trips a year, once a quarter would be perfect though 👌
Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and insight. Very well done to the MGB 1480 miles, a great achievement. I only managed to do 200 miles in my MGB last year due to family commitments. Hope to do more miles this year. Thanks again for sharing. 😊😊
Thanks very much for watching 🙏 it felt like a long way in the MG and certainly the furthest I’d ever driven it in that short a timeframe so I was relieved to get back without major incident 😅
Thanks for sharing your lovely journey, it has been interesting to follow. You have a calm and friendly way, and I think you do really nice filming, with a touch of exclusivity. I hope for more upcoming movies. 🙂
Hi Mark. Really enjoyed this series of videos. Really well produced and the car looks so good in that scenery. I have same car with wire wheels too. Had a rubbing problem on the back. Turned out I had a conversion kit on a bolt on wheel banjo axle. I found a guy near Cambridge who bought all the bits from MG/Unipart when they closed and bought a new old stock wire wheel axle from him. Not expensive. He has a lot of new old stock MGB parts. While I was in the area I called into Vitesse and picked up one of their MX5 gearboxes for the MGB. No more rubbing on the wheel arches and the car now so much easier on long journeys. Thanks for the great videos. James
Great stuff - thanks for doing such a great trip. Watched all 4 back to back. Isle of Skye is an amazing place to visit and drive and none of it is too difficult, maybe the weather and the sheep are the main challenges. Definitely recommend the Fort William to Mallaig rouad via Glenfinnan and Arisaig and also, on Skye, Broadford to Elgol. Did Apllecross pass from inland to sea in my motorhome in 2022. Glad I did it but not sure i'd do it again 😬 and came back the long way round which is basically the same without the ascent and taking three times as long !
Hi Mark, Many thanks for sharing your trip with us and its definitely inspired me to do something similar in the near future. I don't know whether you have done this but I have attached noise deadening pads under the rear seat including the battery box cover and also throughout the boot. Whilst it obviously doesn't help with the wind noise it has in my opinion helped with the road roar.
Great! Good advice about the sound deadening, I have a bit of it in the front but yeah nothing on the rear seats or further back, might have to try something like that in the future to see if it makes a difference! Thanks for the comment! 👍👍
What more can I add that has not already been said, absolutely brilliantMark. Keep up the great content. Im hoping to do a North Wales trip this summer. 👏👏
Indeed I concur with the RainX suggestions as I first used it on my TC (that wiper motor was chuckle inducing) regarding the wiper motor, seems there is a thermal protector component to the switch (with its self-parking function) so over use may cause a circuit breaker like cutout…my ‘69 GT is quite similar to yours with the addition of original factory A/C for our warming Michigan Summers! I’m now planning a trip to Copper Harbor which is similar in distance to your Skye trip…while watching your videos I had Celtic music playing in my mind which is emotive inducing in those monumental vista experiences! Well done!
Congratulations on a great trip in the MGB GT. I really enjoyed this for two reasons (1) we have a MGB GT V8, and now I have seen your trip would love to do it in ours. (2) we are heading to Skye tomorrow, but in our Nissan with cruise control for the motorway 😂... I'm astonishing that you drove so far on day one... well done on the video 🎉 now going to watch your Lotus videos 😊
Thanks very much for watching! Wow yes a V8 would be perfect on a trip like this as it would make light work of those passes etc 👍 I don’t blame you for taking a car with cruise on a long journey as it was very tiring in the ‘B and like I said doesn’t really matter once you’re there as the scenery is what you’re there for really 👍 have a wonderful trip!!
Well Mark, you've set the standard for others to reach, both in terms of your videos and actually using a classic car for a true grand tour - congratulations! Just out of curiosity, did you record your fuel consumption for the entire trip? Incidentally, I don't have a permanent music player in the car as the car sound is normally music enough. However, on the odd occasion that I do want music on a solo trip, I just use my phone with a connection to an Ultimate Ears bluetooth speaker. A twin USB charging port was the first accessory that I installed. Again, superbly done and I enjoyed it immensely as a fellow GT owner!
Thanks again for the support, very kind to leave comments like this 🙏 I did hope to work out the fuel economy but I messed up recording all the fuel stops, it was about 25mpg though, definitely could have got more on the motorway doing 60 but as I just wanted to press on I was at 70ish which feels way more windy/revvy so likely using a disproportionate amount of fuel for the extra 10mph! Funny you mention UE speakers, that’s exactly what I use, you can hear it connect/disconnect in a clip when I’m at Applecross parked up 🤣 I have a few of them I’m so impressed by them, even have the ‘Hyperboom’ for parties 🥳 thanks again for the comment! 🙌
Indeed! It would have been better generally 🤣 more comfortable, would have taken those steeper roads in its stride and no less good looking, maybe better? But I think it would be less challenging/rewarding….. I’ll have to go back to find out for sure 😂
Hi, unfortunately not 🙈 family life getting in the way of hobbies again, I have three or four videos I’ve filmed but just not had the time to edit, hopefully something in the next few weeks when kids are back at school 🙏

Wow, thanks very much for the kind words! Feedback like this is much appreciated 🙏 good luck with your trip, the Lake District is lovely ☺️
Love MGBGT's 🙂👍 Had a few over the years and will always hold the number 1 place in my heart despite having some other really nice cars afterwards
A fantastic series of video beautifully presented and a great classic car to boot, (PS should of had a Triumph Stag though!!!!) Bob (Stag owner - of course) also had an MGB.
Haha, thanks Bob! Yes a Stag in better weather would be fantastic! Thanks for watching 🙏

Great series, really enjoyed them, thanks for putting them together.
No worries! Thanks very much for watching 🙏
Another brilliant video. Well done to you and your lovely MGB for an excellent trip and great recommendations etc. many thanks Martin

I really enjoyed this series! Hope to see more like this!
Stunning footage! You’ve inspired me to take a multi day trip here in New England in my ‘70 MGB roadster.
Brilliant! Have a great time 🙌
Absolutely fantastic!
What an awesome trip
Thanks! I had a great time 😊

Mark, been following you for a long time including Instagram. This by far is your best video production yet. Great work. ❤
Appreciate it!! Thanks very much for the comment and your support 🙏

Nice mindset, in a beautiful life. congrats!
Thank you 🙌
I've loved watching this little series, I'll do something similar next year I think.
Great stuff! 🙌
Scotland was definitely the star. But the MG was definitely the right leading lady.
🤩
Absolutely fantastic trip!
I can't wait for your next adventure
Is your car a mk1?
Yes it is! So no synchro on first gear and slightly different rear lights 👍 Glad you enjoyed the videos! 🙌
Out of interest what camera equipment do you use? (Both cameras and drones)

Hi, unfortunately not 🙈 family life getting in the way of hobbies again, I have three or four videos I’ve filmed but just not had the time to edit, hopefully something in the next few weeks when kids are back at school 🙏
