  • We spliced into our neighbor's fruit trees from across the street. His property is an ancient over 100 years old homestead and he has some beautiful plum trees of all sorts of varieties and very successful apple trees. He was perfectly fine with us trying this cloning process to see if we can get some fruit tree starts that we know can make it here on our part of the property.

All i remember is my dad would scrape the outer bark to the Phloem layer put some rooting hormone on it and stick them in the dirt. He did so much grafting also with apples, pears, and plums . He had a green thumb maybe 2 of them

You should prune the trees back and do a little clean up around the trees to get better success. Looks like the trees have never been kept. I think a little clean up would go a long way with getting better results.

Every experience is learning. You are gaining knowledge even when we fail, so always worthwhile. Good things are never easy, but once perfected, then they become easy. Keep going forward. 😎

Grafting, or take a young shoot and cut and wrap in root stock. Use the rooting techniques. 😃👍❤️🚂💨💨💨💨💨🚙

Nothing ventured nothing gained Mark, have you tried taking off curs with an angle and leaving the stem in rain water long enough for the shoots to appear.

I would think that one or two year green shoots would give the best chance of rooting. 👍

The trees next to a water source are able to withstand stress. Try looking up homemade rooting hormone on Google.

Mark, consulte alguém que conheça técnicas de poda de rebaixamento e renovação de culturas perenes, quando poderá aproveitar para fazer diversas mudas por estaquia…

Cut a two liter bottle in half lengthwise, cut a hole in the bottom and top for the stem, fill with soil and clamp around the stem. You can then cut the limb off below the bottle and transfer to a pot after removing the bottle for planting..

You’d be better off just putting a plum pit in a bucket!
