The Separate Self Does Not Know How To Surrender

Only the true I, consciousness, is able to surrender, to let go of what does not serve us anymore. The ego can't surrender by willpower, it is not an active doing but rather an opening, a natural letting go of the beliefs, feelings and perceptions of the separate me.
It is the nature of consciousness to be surrendered, to be open. All we need 'to do' is to get out of the way as a separate person to let the intelligence of life, which is consciousness, unfold. This intelligence has the big picture of the totality of any given situation and always knows better than the ego, with its very limited perspective on life.
