How Can I Help? - The "Helper Syndrome" is a Distraction from Our Own Suffering

With deepening in understanding and love comes often the wish to help others and also possibly to share our understanding. To alleviate the suffering of our friends is natural and beautiful.
Unfortunately the conditioned mind, the ego will adapt any strategy to run away from, or distract itself from our own suffering. The "Helper Syndrome" expresses itself in this need to help others, while we actually possibly would need help ourselves.
A good way to check whether our wish to help is coming from freedom is to check in with the state of our heart in this moment. Is it open?
