  • I am having some issues with the charging system in my 2009 Saturn Aura, one day it is under charging and the next it's slightly overcharging. In the video I demonstrate how to test a battery and how to perform a voltage drop test on the alternator wiring. I will ultimately replace the battery due it fails a load test, their will be a second video to show how the alternator responds to being connected to a new battery. Stay Tuned.

A "ripple" test is always good to do and takes less then 10 seconds.
If the reading is between 13.5 and 14.8 volts, switch the DMT to the VAC position and observe. A reading of 0.25 VAC or
less indicates that the alternator diodes are fully functional. A reading above 0.25 VAC indicates that the diodes are faulty
and the alternator must be replaced.

Agreed, I forgot to do that one. I will add it to the next video when I install the new battery.
