Astounding sounding amp!! I was ready to write it off as a metal Engl amp, and I couldn't have been more WRONG! I don't need a new guitar amp...but if I did, this would be on the short list! Great video, Henning!
Holy cow this amp head is only 1600 USD and sounds great, and has a LOT of awesome features to boot! I really wonder if this will be my second amp head i'd get to complete my stereo rig? Anyhow, I'm glad you reviewed this amazing amp, looks like you had a lot of fun making this!
5:50 nice sweep Sir !!! 7:04 oooh i bet that feeling lasted a Wwhhhile 😊 I remember attending a clinic with Steve and he had what looked like a midi widget, when i asked he said it was a piezo style pickup that was made by an unknown builder who stopped making them because they weren’t in demand, then he played it… hot daym it sounded amazing like an acoustic but not as bitey as a typical piezo. He was very nice and patient with our teenage questions and attitudes ( insolent lil goobers were we)
Great album !! I once read in the offical tab book for „High tension wires“ that Steve used a Marshall SilverJubilee during those recordings back in the day…
That‘s true, but to be fair he states around 27:04 that this amp has an smooth & loose sound and is not as tight and aggressive as other amps and Steve wanted it exactly this way it is…
would be great if you compared it to some standard fender and marshall amps for reference. or do they forbid comparisons in paid vids? nice one, the practising helped, great licks in the end.
Hi Henning, thanks for the review. I recently bought an Engl Fireball 25. I really was struggling with the Ironball SE20 because it has much more features. But finally I found the sound of the Fireball more hitting my preferences. Probably due to the 6L6 tubes? Anyway. This Steve Morse is awesome, too. 🙂
Thanx Henning, one of the funniest and informative videos for a while! Are DLY and RVB footswitchable via Midi? And for the SM signature sound: I have an EBMM SM and I belive it forms the yound VERY much in his style. Will be interesting to hear with other guitars - hopefully at the Guitar Summit!
Sorry to bother you (again ;-) ) but is are the delays parameter (time/mix/feedbavk) MIDI programmable ? I checked on ENGL website but did not find the answer. Thanks again for your kindness !
I think you sounded awesome and the amp sounds great. Wait till you get a bit older and it takes like a week to warm up. And then you still don't quite get there. ;)
Very signature voiced, for me too much. I miss the dirt a little, for me the sounds are a little too overpolished, already more American than British-German. Harmonics sound good, but as typical Engl sounds I would not define these tones. On the one hand a lot of features for a lunchbox amp, but this also can cause problems sooner or later. My personal experience with lunchbox amps is, that they run extremly hot, even more, if they use EL84 power tubes and have 4 preamp tubes inside and not enough space for proper cooling and ventilation. If you then also have some digital circuits working inside, I would be curious, how long they will work properly in a constantly overheated surrounding. Similar problems could all the small switches and LED's cause sooner or later, electrically and mechanically. Technically state-of-the-art, no doubt, but I would be interested in some reliability experiences of users, who have used such an amp for one or two years constantly. For me it is anyway not the best choice, I prefer non-signature Engl voicings more than these one, never use a digital reverb or delay (if any, then a tape echo (simulation) or a spring reverb, good noise gates I have and a top notch load box with IR option too. But certainly for some players a lot of features and sounds for the money. Especially, if they are Morse fans, which I am not really.
Hello sir!! Is there any way to contact you directly? I would really appreciate the chance to ask you something, basically if it's possible to ask about an elevated jam tracks internship as I think you guys know each other and I couldn't get in touch with him. Love both your channels so much!!
@EytschPi42 thank you for the answer!! He did answer me on patreon since I asked you and yeah he kindly said me no. Well I tried and appreciate his friendly answer :D ans yours, really enjoy both of your channels and work a lot!
well, there are idiots and midiots...mediots? (i might qualify) great. gas. was checking out another blue amp today: used tubemeister and a blackmore... then this...nice. feature request: cmon engl! just 2 pots more on the rear and this might be the first amp in the world with more pots in the back then in the front! -engl branded cheeseplate, tap tempo button on the front. a exp input on the back to fade in the FX loop and the built in delays. that dry wet thing built in. Slave out to other amps for dry side.
I also love Deep Purple's work, both with Ritchie and with Morse. But the price of 1600 US bucks is too much for me, although the sound is simply amazing! So I'll probably have to strum Smoke on the water like this. ;) ua-cam.com/users/shortsnOfKV2aw1vk?si=D_d4qNn3RE6fENEs

Taylor swift isn’t as good as you think. Not sure she even plays much. You play very well.
Reminds me more of a Fender or Mesa Boogie than of an Engl or Marshall. Nothing for me and disappointing much too boring, expressionless American voiced sounds for an Engl amp in my opinion. Money rules obviosuly.... Hard to believe, that this amp comes from the same company, which has develeoped an ultra-flexible, but always awesome sounding masterpiece as the Savage 120. Engl goes Nashville! And I go coughing... The next amp company, from which I never ever again want to buy anything.
It’s a signature amp and it needs to fit the player… can you not dislike this one and like other Engl amps? Why do you have to abandon the brand because of one product you don’t like?
That has to be the next chapter in my book of "gear I suddenly need". 😀

Great video, Henning!
Love the playing! 🤘🏼
I noticed the Thumb nail for this video had Nuno Bettencourt in the screenshot and Steve Morse as the named guitarist.
And that Henning is using an EVH strat.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino He's just trolling as usual.
Well… it worked!
I thought it was another "Mandela Effect Instance"
I have the SE ENGL. This looks the same?

Love how big sounding these 20 Watters have become! It has all things in the little thing. Looking on Amazon now to get you a Steve Morse wig. Planken
saw the thumbnail, came partly for the comments, and of course there is one 😂 love it, never change
I love the Steve Morse story. Well deserved, Henning. And yeah, those moments, cherish them.
That would be a dream amp for me, what a great feature set!
Crazy how the IRs totally change the tone Great feature.
Great demo and thanks for all of the laughs my friend you rock. 🤘🏻
Nice Demo on that little beast ! Sounds awesome 👏
Great job getting the tone (point) across! Sweet playing.
I was waiting for this!
Andy Mcgee ? Oh one of the Steves!
Very cool lunchbox monster. Soo many controls they had to put some on the back! And such a lovely blue.
5:50 nice sweep Sir !!!

Wow this amp ticks a lot of boxes for my use case. Definitely going to keep an eye out for this one!
This Can't Get Any Morse 💖
Yes. Yes, yes
HaPe - voll geil! Voll authentisch! Die SM-Music Man sieht HAMMER aus! Krass, schade, dass SM nicht auf deiner Platte gespielt hat…
To this day, I listen to High Tension Wires, atleast once a week. One of my favourite albums of all time.
Great album !!
I once read in the offical tab book for „High tension wires“ that Steve used a Marshall SilverJubilee during those recordings back in the day…
Some inspiring gear
Steve Morse is an effortless virtuoso, Dixie Dregs ❤
Desperately needs a bright cap on the lead channel. Sounds super boxy especially with that little power section.
That‘s true,

Love it! 😂👌

Reverb and Delay built in? Sounds like my kind of Amp 🥸🤝🏼
And we have the launch of a new kind of improv video: the self-deprecating kind.
Well… it sucked!
I only just noticed the Steve Morse guitar has a compensated nut. I need to look into that...
Great video ! I am not far from buying it ! One question if I may: is it loud enough in a gig situation (3 piece rock trio)? Thanks !
I am sure it can survive in a three piece...
Thanks a lot ! Like your humour and humility, you’re great !
I keep hearing i am bald not ironball
That too

Yes, those can be controlled via midi
I liked because of Yngwie ...I'm a Simple ma...no not Lynard oh what the heck why not :DDD ...Very cool Morse=fication!
🔥
Ich hatte mir ja ein Straight Reissue vorstellen können, der Amp ist aber auch ne Granate!
I think i need one. Isn't the MVB a Master Volume Boost like on the Ironball SE?
Would love to hear Taylor Swift on this and also if she could do some Iron Maiden stuff
Think it will do old school metal just fine 🤤🤤🤤
Sorry to bother you (again ;-) ) but is are the delays parameter (time/mix/feedbavk) MIDI programmable ? I checked on ENGL website but did not find the answer. Thanks again for your kindness !
Yes
I think you sounded awesome and the amp sounds great. Wait till you get a bit older and it takes like a week to warm up. And then you still don't quite get there. ;)
So it's a Boss MZ-2 Digital Metalizer?
Hello Henning, is the basic sound identical to the standart Ironball ?
No
Is the noodle track available as a backing track? Sounded awsome!!

I have a hunch that Tom wouldn't be into that. He is very private.

Why didn't you call me? Would have loved to shred some Morsian stuff on that little machine!
I really thought about it, but it was the week before Gear Street and I had no time.

Why the Nuno pic?
because humor
Bro. I look a lot like you. Do you have any Irish ancestry?
Sick amp! Sick guitarist! Sick video! Sick hair! Loved everything of it!
Thanks Max!
Brilliant! Muahahah 🤣
für mich klingt der Amp viel zu mumpfig. Aber die Optik ist eine 10/10 !

I didn't receive any information about the new amp via a newsletter from Engl. Engl's information strategy leaves a lot to be desired 😏

It’s called humor
Oh man. Lern doch bitte erst Mal spielen 😂
Google erst mal wem Du das sagst!
