If you're going to honour Jeff Beck, this is how you do it, with feeling, with thought, with your own heritage bleeding through. Thank you Steve, you too are a 'Master'.
OMG! This is the first time I hear someone plays this song as good as Jeff Beck. I remember in 70's, Jeff Beck & Steve Morse were on the "overall best guitarist of the year" from Guitar Player votes all the time.
One of my all-time favourites by JB! I must’ve heard 100 guitar players cover this song but it sounds to me like Steve Morse understands the harmony better than any of them… every single note packed with so much personality, just ridiculously good.
Its truly wonderful to see the legendary Mr Steve Morse play. A guitarist whom I have the utmost respect covering this classic tune given poignancy and resonance and made famous by the greatJeff Beck. Penned by the equally legendary Stevie Wonder for his then wife the late singer Sairita Wright who possessed such a beautiful voice.
@@rogerbiggerstaff3293 he is suffering from severe tendinitis. Look at year ago video with Rick beato and other interviews. He can barely there. His hands seems has improved so much compared to that. The stuff at his guitar neck is to help him to make him easier to play for his condition.
Oh right on! All the live performances of his I've ever seen had him using his Strat. Even more amazing to know he pulled all those dynamics off on *just* a Tele for the recording!
@@plamenpenkov2865 Yeah. Never could understand that either. Musicman was formed by ex-Fender leaders Forrest White and Tom Walker, along with Leo Fender as a silent partner bother and make great guitars. A few years later G&L was formed by Leo Fender, George Fullerton, and Dale Hyatt. Both companies make great guitars but for some reason, even with their pedigree, neither seem to be able to make it into the big leagues.
Countless great guitarists have covered this classic but very few have ever got near the emotion Jeff infused into every note of his timeless original. Steve does an amazing job with his own unique take on this wonderful piece🎸🤘🏻
Blow by Blow Album 1974 . Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers imo was one of the most tasteful pieces of music Jeff ever did. Steve did it Justice too. I'm not big on the big music retailers Musicians Enemy and the like. They took everything from retail prices to list prices. Enough never seems to be enough, They always want more , then they want it all. i digress.
Steve Morse is a master. If anyone can do this song justice it is him. But Jeff Beck played like no one has ever played. And after listening to Steve's version it struck me how Beck would make his musical statements in so few notes, with so much open quiet space between. Steve's version just has too many notes for me. Jeff's version is sparse and beautiful and each note he played was perfection that just struck at the core of your heart.
This song caused me to believe that males can have a heart. I didn't think they could be sad about losing a lover until I heard this. It was such a long, long time ago. Young teenaged girl, up way later than I should've been. Naive enough to be out alone with an older guy, not considering the potential hazard I was putting myself into. Nothing untoward happened. I'd like to think men who appreciate this tune by Jeff Beck are a respectful lot. He didn't lay a hand on my overconfident self, but I sure felt like I'd been seduced the next day. Thanks, Dudley, for choosing to play JB's music that night. What a gift. What a night. What a guy.
Ah, yes. Similar experiences. More than a few. Gentalmen for sure. Introduced me to many of the greats. Jazz, Blues, all so deep. Way, way, back when i was full of moxie 17, 18, 20. Late 70s, early 80s. There were some really good guys back then. Deep conversation. I try to imagine what it would be like if I was a young lady out now in today's world. Not so carefree, trusting and intellectual deep thinking I assume.
Thank you everyone, love you Steve, my favorite guitar player playing my other favorite...Go listen to some Dixie Dregs friends! If you never did, it might change your life. Well, it did change mine.
Im left handed but learned to play guitar right handed(in the 70's), and I noticed left handed guys like Steve Morse and others lef handers like Phil Collen when they do a fast pick fast run there is a lot of right hand arm movement. Its exactly how I have to do it being left handed, so I guess I dont feel so bad...haha I've tried over the year to get more wrist action and always thought it was due to a motorcycle accident I have when I was young, but I see these pro's doing the same way. Steve Morse is awesome for 70 years old now. I saw Steve 11 years ago opening for Joe Satriani. Steve is still "On the Pipe"!
@@rolandszadai1522 Yeah, I remember a few years ago he had to change something up and was wearing that thing on his wrist. He still has always kind had that style though. I dont know... lol We just do our best with what we have I guess.

Well Said!
"Sorry for what's about to happen" he says, then they scale Everest with ease
👏👏👏👏👏
Fabulous!
Awesome.

I knew Steve is a badass but this left me speechless
Steve has always played with heart & emotion. Best of health going forward, Steve. Keep rock'n!!🎸🎸🎸
It’s Jeff and it’s Steve and it’s beautiful! Thank you all!

Great version
The smile at the end speaks volumes about the respect and skill required to play Jeff Becks songs and do the justice well done Steve well done!!!
Both Jeff (RIP) and Steve are so expressive. Treasures for humanity.
Incredible rendering! More please

One of the better versions of this I have ever heard :) great tribute to Jeff Beck
It is nice to see Steve play despite all his illness 😢😢
Steve isn't ill.
@@rogerbiggerstaff3293I'm assuming he meant despite dealing with his wife's illness. Her illness is why he had to quit Deep Purple.

He’s got arthritis though.
Unfortunately he is suffering of arthiritis. He told it in this Rick Beato interview: ua-cam.com/video/XBsf2JWerac/v-deo.htmlsi=08UMBM2fjHllA_v7
Well that was epic.
Thanks a bunch Steve! … RIP Jeff❤️🔥🌈❤️
Thank you Steve, this is really great! I'm sure Jeff would be pleased. I saw you in Collingswood in June, amazing show, Steve! ❤🤟🎸
Absolutely love Steve Morse! He is so in tune every single time what an absolute monster
A beautiful tribute by Steve. Respectfully played. RIP, Jeff.
Beautiful....Jeff would be proud of you...Always loved this song
I simultaneously had Jeff Beck's Blow by Blow, Wired and There and Back along with Steve Morse Band in heavy rotation as a 15 yr old in 1983.
Great performance of a great tune. Steve Morse still sounding great as always. Jeff Beck would have approved!🎸
❤ everything about this. thank you AMS, Steve and band. We all love Jeff. Love to you Steve
Best version I've heard to date! And he did all that vibrato w/o a tremolo bar! Legend!
Jeff used a Tele with humbuckers with no whammy on the original recording on Blow by Blow.
Oh right on! All the live performances of his I've ever seen had him using his Strat. Even more amazing to know he pulled all those dynamics off on *just* a Tele for the recording!
Have been a huge fan of Steve since first seeing the Dixie Dregs 45 years ago. He puts so much soul and originality into this wonderful take.
Thanks guys. Awesomeness. No one better to honor Jeff's legacy than a Living Legend such as Steve..❤⚡🔥🎸
As only Steve could do with such feeling, on that old worn and loved guitar!
With minimum effects too; like Jeff Beck. A volume pedal, and a channel changer for his amplifier.
The great Steve Morse 👍🏻 and great band too
Beautiful, enough Jeff and Steve adding the right amount of Steve-isms to give honest tribute to Beck. And a great band as well!
What a cover.
So good guitar tone!
Un Héroe de la guitarra interpretando a otro Héroe. Del gran Steve para el gran Jeff.
Came here from the Guitar World article. Now I'll listen to Jeff play it and then all the other greats mentioned who have paid homage.
That was beautiful! I felt the emotion.
Excellent rendition!
Let's not forget Cause We've Ended As Lovers was written by Stevie Wonder
Can't forget that! Stevie birthed it and Jeff brought it to life.
I did not know that, seriously. Thanks for sharing. I'm a Stevie W fan as well.
So much genuine emotion in his playing.
Superb as one would expect from the maestro!
way to go, fantastic playing from Steve morse not forgetting the rest of the band, Rkon
OMG!!
Way cool 😎
I think he has been using that guitar and the same strap for 30 yrs. Authentically aged! Great rendition.
Amazing version. Beautiful performance Steve.
Nice groove Brother Coombs
Well done, very nice!
Amazing video guys! So cool that you got to jam with Morse!!! Just fantastic...
The mans still got it.
One more please , Steve! 😃😃👍👋👋👋👋
What a beautiful version!!
Outstanding !
One of the best guitarist in the world. Ernie Ball needs to make a Sterling line Morse signature guitar model that us mere mortals can afford. 👍
Absolutely, I don't need another guitar but I would buy that one.
Nah, why would they make something that would sell. I swear they are purposefully trying to go out of business.
@@plamenpenkov2865 they sell plenty of guitars.

Steve Beck has it all! 🎯
So many tasty licks! 3:37 for example. He really put his own spin on this tune.

Beautifully done!!! Brought tears to my eyes... Just wonderful!
Steve is brilliant in everything he plays! A unique version of this song that only Steve could think and play. Amazing

Steve....❤
So much switching and knob/pedal action happening, while still maintaining all the feeling, what a genius!
Awesome!!! A reminder of the kind of loss music suffered when Jeff passed
Beautiful!!! ❤❤❤
So authentic in spirit - but totally Steve as well -- this is as good as it gets!
Yes Beck! and yes and yes.
But it is a Stevie Wonder tune.
So beautifully rendered
Glorious.
Very nicely performed gentlemen. Thank you for sharing
Loved it.
Kudo's to the drummer. You make it very exciting.... With them fills, stops and special licks...
Wow! Incredible version, his sound, feel and melodic ideas mixed with that more gnarly side that he mixes in just the right amount... 👌
Epic❤️🎶💫🎸 Great version SM and the band!!!😍 So damn chill and.....just love it👌🏼🙏🏼🍂🍁☕️💫🔥🥰

The competition is nicely browned toast, RIP Jeff
Solid. ❤
such musicality on such a musical classic!
Steve Morse on the guitar... Bryan Ottens on the keys! Definitely BADASS!
Amazing like always. Morse is a master like Jeff.
Amazing!

Good to see Steve doing projects that use his prodigious talent outside of Purple and after his wife's passing.
Beautiful, of course. Written by Stevie Wonder, again, of course.
I kinda feel like I need those lights turned down. Never really a fan of his guitar but I really dig his appointments. Excellent cover.
Sublime.
Awesome
You can thank Stevie Wonder for such a wonderful song!
