    I have that engl and it was made for a tube screamer. Runs delays, reverbs and modulation perfectly. Specialy on the cleans with neck single coil. And the two channel goes perfect with the shared eq when dialed in. I think a guitar with single neck, single mid, and bridge hum is the perfect pair. And yes that runs with v30. With the mid boost is instant mixed on the daw.

    I had a Fireball 60w many years ago and loved it, but let someone talk me into selling it (for… reasons). I now have had a peavey 6534 and mesa mark v for a while, but, On a whim, picked up a used Fireball 25, bc was missing my old fireball …. and, running through my two 4x12s (one has a mix of Eminence and the other has 4 celestion v30s) it sounds fuggin awesome! Can’t do “everything”, but Engl has a jam, and I love it for that.

      @@EytschPi42 I have to disagree with that somewhat Henning. Yes the typical Engl Powerhouses made for modern metal like the Fireball or Powerball don't work with fuzz. My E650 Ritchie Blackmore and its sister amps like the Savage or the E651 Artist Edition sound amazing with fuzz though. The Gigmaster and Rockmaster also don't sound to shabby if you put a fuzz in the clean channel.

    Tight!! On „Engl may not take Fuzzpedals well“ I have a Rock Combo 20 which works perfect with a Big Muff in the clean channel, BUT indeed sounds way better with a single coil (eg Strat) than a Les Paul with Humbuckers. Maybe also depends what type of Fuzz you want. For me this way I get perfect smashing pumpkins type of Fuzz.

      @@domizidor Yes but for someone who's using it with a band only i'd still recommend the Fireball100 because it sounds bigger, like palm mutes sound more powerful, more low end etc, that's usually what you get from the same amp with 4x the watts, it's not that much about volume. Imo Fireball25 is the amp to mainly use at home but you can also bring it to jam sessions or use it as backup amp, when i see one for a good price i'll buy it.

    • @domizidor

      @@Zwidawurzn I get your point but my opinion is that people often use much more powerfull rig than they need. On 25 watts no one would play this at home, its too much low end... I remember watching Ola Englund trying this one and I believe he knows some loud amps :D and this one was loud for him too. But again, Im not metalhead so im very happy with power of this one. I thng its nice balance and its enough for most of people.

    As I already wrote under another comment:
    To be pricise I have to disagree with Henning on the Engl don't like fuzz pedals somewhat.

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  4 роки тому

      I have the Artist Edition... and many other amps... and an Ampete switcher. When you send a fuzz in those ampsbypu hear what it is supposed to sound like... when it hits the ENGL, the sound gets destroyed. They do some kind of filtering in the input stage. When you say it works with fuzz I am telling you that you don’t know the actual sound of that fuzz if you used an ENGL amp. I have experienced that over and over. It’s something they to address.
      Do an A/B comparison with an amp switcher and a good pedal platform map and you‘ll find out what your fuzzes are supposed to sound like.
      I love Engl... great amps and great people... but this is an issue that exists and should be addressed.

    • @fredericsrhetorics6114
      @fredericsrhetorics6114 4 роки тому

      @@EytschPi42 Don't get me wrong Henning, I don't say the fuzz won't sound different, because most amps change how a pedal sounds. I did say however that they can sound great on some Engl amps. It depends on the individual parts and how the amp is voiced that decides how the pedal can sound like. Same with speakers. They will always have a certain kind of sound, but every amp sounds different through the same speaker.
      I personally play stoner rock and metal, so fuzz is pretty important to me. Yet I never found a fuzz pedal that didn't work with my E650. You just have to tune the pedal to the base sound of the amp. That's what you should do anyway when putting a pedal you know through a new amp and vice versa. That's also why I think A/B-ing gear (like one pedal with multiple amps for example) back to back isn't always the best way. Amp A may sound best with the pedal how it currently is tuned, but the sound of Amp B with another setting on the same pedal could blow your socks of, if you put the time in.
      I could think of a reason why you didn't like the outcome so far. Engl have a pretty unique spike in the lower and upper mids, but the treble Poti also infulences these. That's why I lowered the treble on my E650 quite a bit and raised the mids just a hair. This way fuzz pedals don't start to sound fizzy and undefined, as they tend to do with to much of the "wrong" mids. Sometimes you want that kind of sound, but it's verry situational.
      I do respect your broad knowledge regarding gear. Sound is somewhat subjective though and I did notice in some videos that you decided to combine gear or use it in a way that didn't suit it the best in my opinion. Well, that's why we gear nerds allways have something to talk about. ;D

      A simple rule to remember, as I learned through plug, play and just turn the knobs. When the amp is already pushing, maybe it wants a little more, but not much. Color and time effects will be much more forgiving in this situation. Feel free to message me and I will share what I have learned about this tone quest.

      all it that does is thin out the bass... I am talking about using drives, distortions and fuzzes in front of the clean channel like people with full boards do. I‘ve had a bunch of Engl amps here and they are not pedal platforms at all. They are great amps, don’t get me wrong, but on their own, not with a drive in front of it. I disagree with your note about using pedals with this head.. Myself, using this amp for around year and Im really not metalhead. Amazing amp, I think clean of this amp would embarrass a lot of other amps. And I am using it with, timmy, fat rat, zvex, fuzz factory and big muff in terms of distortion. I think its great pedal platform (clean channel), you just need to tweak a eq a bit and those controls a quite powerfull. Im running less bass, treble, presence and more mids, . And also Im playing on classic strat guitar, so no high output. This is one of those amps which looks like they are just for metal players but they are really really not, but dirt channel is amazing for that. Sounds like tight RAT on steroids to me. Or pushing that channel with timmy - great. Also powerbreak is great addition for home playing, 1watt setting is what im using all the time at home. I bought it second hand for a few hundreds, very happy with this thing.

    Henning, get with it. It's not Djent anymore! For metal amps it's "Will It Chug?" Thanks in part to Ola England. 🎸🎶🤷‍♀️

    They’re expensive. Budget amps are less than $500 USD. After taxes and possibly shipping charges, you’re looking at 3x more than $500. Not cheap by any means.

    I don't know if it's the amp or something else in the audio chain, but whenever you played, a very nasty clicky sound was audible. :(

    maybe you got a bad sample, as 3-4 other reviewers all said it takes pedals great.......

    • @EytschPi42
      @EytschPi42  3 роки тому +1

      Compared to other amps in my switching system is does not take pedals well. You always have to do A/B tests to really hear the difference... you have no clue how it performs if you only listen to the one amp. I'll stick with what I said.
