The holdup I have about newer cars is I prefer the second gen interior. The screen is smaller, you have anchor points to brace your hand to operate the touchscreen, and the double glovebox is fantastic. And I love the seat comfort.
I own a 2019 Prius Limited same color as this one. I've had no problems at all. I DID replace 12v battery myself (load tested poorly (4yrs old)). I change oil every 6mos/5,000 miles. I do all maintenance & I'm a senior. I have a lithium ion traction battery in mine. Either you love their looks or hate them. I love mine. Looking forward to more videos on gen4's. I sub'd & gave a 👍
Got a 4th generation at the end of April 2024. Very nice highly reliable runabout. I run mine doing Uber. It’s amazing how many people I pick up at the nearby Chevy dealership who have brand new cars breaking down on a repeated bases. Never have to worry about that with a Toyota, especially 4th gen or newer Prius.
Ha! That’s a hoot. I’ve always felt the same way. But wow sadly it’s toyota now too. Not the hybrids as a rule. Seems to be getting worse, too! I think toyota hybrids are the clear way forward by a wide margin. If they don’t cripple themselves with gadgets and obnoxious tech like some others are, and build quality stays about where it’s at, in 30 years virtually every “old car” still on the road will be toyota hybrids
@@CarloVaccariPlus This begs a question doesnt it? there were 703,000 second gen sold in the USA. 1,120,000 third gen with 2012 being almost a quarter of it, and 535,000 fourth gen. Obviously the third gen has a head gasket problem but not NEARLY to the extent that it is taking them off the road. It's over 200,000 mile units. Many people kill good cars before that. Gen 4 should be more common than gen two because they are only 150,000 behind and almost a decade newer. So what gives?! And WHY is production down from 236,000ish in 2012 to like 30,000 for the final year of the 4th gen?!
I got a 2022 corolla hybrid. I saw a vid where a guy has 461,000 miles on his corolla hybrid and it is still going strong with no issues. Hope mine does the same thing.
Toyota hybrids minus the 2023 crown Lexus ls600hl toyota Century etc are all very similar. Your Corolla hybrid is a prius power train essentially. It was a good choice and will last. I don’t think I could own a toyota after 2015 or so like at all unless it was hybrid. Random year of course. It’s specific to each car. Example: I am driving a 13 camry right now. Don’t like it at all. I know I’d love it if it was hybrid
I’d absolutely replace my 06 with a 4th gen even before your video, I’ve recommended to my friends who don’t want to fuss with the quirks of a third GEN to skip the third generation and go to the fourth
I keep this channel and the business separate but you’re more than welcome to subscribe to the business channel :) here is a link to a fourth gen that, as of 1-7-25 is in stock :) ua-cam.com/video/maMchLdde90/v-deo.htmlsi=2Luy5UDVJ1iSkKfK Thank you!
Just 1,200 miles and you've decided the Gen 4 is better than the Gen 2, huh? My wife's 2008 Prius was going strong at 289,000 miles until someone hit us and totaled it last year. My 2008 has 112,000 miles on it and going strong, too. Easy to work on, inexpensive to maintain, no major repairs on either of them. By the way, I'm not sure any Gen 2 Prius owner would agree the car has a "smooth, soft ride"! 🙂
1200 miles in that one, yes. I own a niche car dealership and ship cars all over the world, so a lot of data goes into any car I will bring in, and a lot of love or frustration has to go into the car for it to make it onto this channel You might note somewhere in the exterior shots that I said the best car ever made all things considered is a second generation Prius , but they are getting old… The 2002 Lexus ES 300 was a phenomenal vehicle. I have one right now that just needs an O-ring and the power steering system. That will cost the owner probably $1000. For a $.20 O-ring. This is a problem because of age, not miles, and not craftsmanship. I am very blessed to be in the top of my field, and I just tried to share what revelation that affords me with you all
I rather like the glossy black panels....just keep them waxed and shiny! My interior is mostly white, but the dash is the glossy black. Luckily though, my center panels were white. I don't like the all glossy black interiors. My next goal is to get those cheap 'vegan leather' center and door armrests replaced with actual leather. I already replaced the steering wheel with genuine leather.
Fine, get something else. More for us, like when someone at a buffet says they don't like eating lobster. I don't choose my cars for visual design, but I do like the looks of the Gen 4 Prius Prime more than the Gen 4 Prius. I also did draw the line at not taking the shiny white interior variation on the 2017 Prius Prime that I bought new and still love. 134K miles and it's not required any trips to the dealership for repairs. Best car I've ever owned, and I've done things like factory ordering cars ranging from an Audi Quattro to a Chevy Suburban, buying a 2001 Prius in 2000, replacing the original brakes on a 2005 Prius at 230K miles, and buying a Merkur XR4Ti when they first came out. As far as reducing the shiny black look, I inserted stainless steel poker-table cup holders into the center console cup holders, and it looks amazing.
@EfficientRVer Yes, I'm not a fan of white seats. It IS cooler, I'm sure, but too hard to keep clean. I was looking at RAV4, Camry, or Prius. Being a senior, I was looking for mpg's. Oh, another stickler to me is AWD. No offense to anyone, but in my opinion, car sits too low. This is WHY I considered a RAV4. If I was buying now, I'd consider a Corolla Cross hybrid. I know it's not a RAV4 but I just look for reliable transportation.
Really excited about this upcoming 4th gen content!

My one year-old 2nd hand 2016 prius has done only 37,000 miles so far. I hope it can do 150,000 miles with no battery issues.

@@DrewGarageat this point I feel like I see more gen 2 Prius than any other model of its age.

The Gen 2 literally has two decades of reliability under its belt with a better design.

Skip the first 5 minutes which is fluff
still driving second gen ,def. skip third gen and wait til 4th gen get cheaper
Gen 2 is estatically better regardless of its age.
Unfortunately the 4th gen is probably the ugliest car on the road. Too bad, it's really nice otherwise.
I don't like all the glossy black interior of the 4th gen
If you end up with one I’m sure they have dash kits. Otherwise vinyl wrap. Would like sick in a light colored matte wood grain
