Do You Really NEED All-Wheel-Drive?! Or Is Front-Wheel-Drive Sufficient? (DEEP SNOW!)
This is a massive question! Is front wheel drive enough? Or do you NEED all wheel drive? I answer the question from a city that has been named (and tied for) the snowiest city in the USA more often than not - Rochester NY. With 21 years of driving and all of them also working on cars, you may be shocked at my answer...

I had a 2010. Don't buy it to save money! As long as it is running then you save on gas but anything breaks down and then you spend all that money you save and more! My brakes went out...3000.00 repair! Then it started to shake when it was started up until it warmed up a little. Tuned it up and it still happened. Then you know the battery is just a matter of time though they do last for a long time. You don't save a dime unless you trade it out when it gets some serious miles on it.

Any idea why my 2012 Honda fits rear break lights won’t turn off? It’s not the brake pedal or any button that’s stuck or corroded. And I can’t seem to find which fuse it is exactly for the brake lights. So rear break lights are on and won’t turn off which killed the battery. I’ll need a resolution asap! Thanks so much in advance guys!

So glad I found your video. Have an 11 Sequoia with flickering lights and bobbing volt meter in dash. Was dreading getting the front end removed just to get to the alternator. Going to try this hack as soon as the part arrives. I have a two post lift in my barn, so it may get done in record time. Subscribed and will report back once it's done. ETA: Going to temper my enthusiasm. I have the 5.7L. Hoping there's enough similarity there to make this work.

Hi Drew, any idea on why my 07 Prius throws a p2195 code after driving 3-5 miles at highways speeds above 65mph? Car engine will Start to blow black smoke, mpg drops to 15mpg… hv battery stops charging and car slowly rolls to a stop as the hv battery becomes depleted. I shut car down for 2minutes, car restarts, I allow hv battery to charge up for 5 minutes, and car now runs fine the rest of the trip. Only code set is p2195. Car runs fine at speeds below 60mph. Note… mpg in city is around 38mpg, and 50+mpg on 40mph+ drives… complete opposite of spec’d mpg… aftermarket upstream o2 is 3 months old. No codes thrown below 65mph. Thanks Frank

My dad has a 03 corolla and I have a gen2 04 prius. My dad’s corolla has more than 299,999. The odometer stopped at that mileage but I’m assuming it’s close to 310,000 right now. No major problems with the car. My gen2 has 168,000 right now. Major fixes were the water pump, new hybrid battery with new cells, new a/c compressor, and I replaced a capacitor on the combination meter. Such an amazing little car! Amazing mileage!! My dad and I both have amazing little Toyotas ❤

True, especially in california where we have emissions testing. Many people say the engine on the prius starts burning oil like crazy as they get closer to 200k, which then ruins the cat. And emmisions tests here require oem catalytic converters which are $2k+, so you cant really use a cheaper after market one. Also this gen seems to be a prime target for cat thieves.

Bought an 06 Prius with 131k miles. My wife's 09 Camry was not working. and i saw the low mileage, went to drive it and it drove great. All i've done is replaced the 2 front tires ($150 new), replaced HID's, Led fog lights, key fob case, wipers, LED inside lighting, and the car looks great! We took it to Santa barbara over the weekend for our anniversary and it drove like champ. Definitely get better mpg in the city, as on the hills it was averaging like 27mpg but that was very short spurts. So excited about having one of the best built cars. I already have the first gen tundra which is another legendary bulletproof truck! thanks for the video!

My girlfriend has a 2004 Corolla. She bought it for $2k 6 years ago when it had 164k miles on it. Now it's got 230k miles. She doesn't get 35mpg, she gets 28 mpg combined average. I changed the transmission fluid when she first bought the car along with replacing the intake manifold gasket, serpentine belt, spark plugs, ball joints, tie rod ends, brake calipers, pads, backing plates, EVAP hoses, power steering fluid, engine coolant, PCV valve and water pump and thermostat. I did all that myself so it didn't cost much and the only things it really needed was the intake manifold gasket. The other stuff would have been fine to leave alone, but I like to do preventative maintenance by replacing stuff ahead of time. That way the car will last longer and be more reliable. Over the past 6 years I change the oil every 3k miles and I had to replace the muffler, tires, brake pads and transmission fluid once. Pretty soon I'll change the engine coolant again, but won't bother doing the water pump or thermostat for another 50k-60k miles. My daily driver is a 2016 Toyota Yaris hatchback with the 1NZ-FE engine. It actually gets 36mpg combined average and it also ultra reliable like the 9th generation Corollas. I considered getting a 2015 Prius C, but decided on the Yaris instead because I prefer the simplicity and long term durability and low cost to repair the Yaris compared to the Prius C which is built on the same platform as the Yaris.

I have 3 Gen 2s and 1 Corolla. Can't go wrong with either. 1 Prius is now a parts car, only because of a crash. I recently moved the brake booster from the parts car to one of the others with 700+km on it (in Canada). Had to pay a local mechanic to do the brake bleed after, but seems to be good as new. I'm a DIYer with little experience, but kept everything organized & didn't think the job was that bad all things considered - but yeah, it takes some time & I understand why it's an expensive job to pay someone to do. A recent mystery is the car is full dead every once in awhile, so far only shortly after turning off and then trying to start again a few minutes later. Lucky so far it's only happened at home. The 12V seems to be ok and the inverter pump I saw you talking about in another video seems to be pumping liquid as I can see it agitating in the inverter coolant resevoir. Any ideas?

I bought that same generation Corolla for $1,000 2 months ago. Have the Corolla checked for burning or leaking oil. The Corolla engine maybe bulletproof but the previous owner could forget to change the oil. The Prius were a lot more expensive as hybrids are popular now. Hatchback would be so much better. Station Wagon Corolla from Japan would be incredible

I bought my 2004 Prius in 10/18, with 46k. It has served me well for the past 4.5 years, with a daily commute of 75 miles. It now has 163,000 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, living in the rust belt of upstate NY has taken a toll on the undercarriage. Other than maintenance work, it’s been a very reliable car. I will probably be able to drive safely for another year or so. Like many cars I have owned, it will wind up being a mechanically sound, but structurally unsound rust bucket.

DREW IS 100% CORRECT. When things go wrong with the 2nd gen Prius, it can be very expensive to repair them. Because I have the money to do so, and I really like the car, I have fixed or had fixed almost every major thing that can go wrong in this car. I bought the car with 246K miles on it. It currently has just over 250K miles. I had the luck of getting the car when everything was reaching end of life. 😂 Hybrid battery, brake actuator, inverter coolant pump, engine water pump, combo meter, catalytic converter, and struts. Speaking of the inverter coolant pump, it went out on me as I was driving 40 mph down the road a week ago. The car just shut off but kept rolling. Luckily I could pull into a neighborhood, waited for a tow truck, and replaced the it the next day. Again with water pumps, did you know the second generation Prius, has four or five water pumps!! Thats insanity!! 😂 With all that being said, I still love this car.
