I am Italian. And I LOVE Christmas because my grandpa makes so many yummy seafood dishes :)
I love your energy and passion for cooking! I enjoy watching your videos very much
We have Bacala salad on Christmas Eve along with fried Smelt, stuffed squid, mussels, fried calamari, clam sauce and scallops.... penne and linguini meatballs, sausages, a roast beef, garden salad, Italian loafs! Deserts are too much to list, lots of alcohol and espresso w/ Sambuca at 1AM! It’s the best night of the whole year!
I love you Laura you are such a good cook I watch you all the time I am fact send your recipes to my niece who is only 13 years old and she’s learning to cook Italian so this is great that you have the videos and the recipes and it’s fun for her
Thank you happy holidays!
I love octopus salad! Thank u Laura!
Thanks for your tutorial
I had some of it in Venice omg.... I'm obsessed!!!!
Man, I was hoping for a recipe for octopus. This is such an awesome recipe. Thank you for posting!
Looks great!
Thanks for posting Laura. I'm not Italian but I love octopus salad! My aunt boils the octopus like you do but she removes the outer layer of skin so that all you see is the white part. She makes a similar salad but adds bell peppers and onions. It's so good!
Laura you're the best i really enjoy your recipes though I'm African American i love Italian food and cooking, I'm glad i subscribed to your videos.
Octopus is great no matter how it's cooked. In my country we make the octopus salad with onion instead of cellery, got to try it this way 😋
"you know what im saying!" hahaha love you so much laura.
You are the best..OMG all your foods are the best
👍Time is flying. Hard to believe I’ve been watching your channel since you first started & only had a few of us subs. 🤗💞🤗
In Hawaii we eat octopus all the time and you know it, it's very tasty! Good to learn a new way to serve it up. Thanks!

Thanks Laura for this recipe coz I couldn't find it, so far I'll gonna try it , I love sea food.
Octopus is a Christmas Eve tradition in Portugal as well. We usually boil it for Christmas Eve, then turn the leftovers into a salad for Christmas Day.
I love the taste of octopus! You have everything!
I love octopus
Christmas is not a real Christmas only without the God in heart. Without octopus it is still Christmas.

I wish you more success in your life.

Interesting ...looks good!
Hi! I'm originally from Long Island and many of us Italian- Americans eat Octopus Salad on X-mas Eve. I love it so much! I usually put oregano in mine. We have a fish market near my house that sells fresh octopus only during x-mas. The line for all the seafood is about 1 hour wait on X-mas eve!
I love seafood!!! thanks!!!
I really like Italians and I luv your octopus recipie thank you Laura your magnificent
i love the end!
Laura, I love your bloopers :D
Loveeeee it
Amazing! I didn't you could boil it even when the octopus is frozen. Thanks a lot for this valuable hint!
Ive never had octopus before so im going 2 give this dish a try as it looks good:)
i love ur videos!
hmmm octopus is delicious! so is calamari! just love it!
can you please tell me where you bought that v-neck white top in your intro. I am looking everywhere for a classic tee as such that fits well and has nice material. Thanks.
Hi Laura, Merry Christmas. I made the Octopus this morning but its not enough! Have to go back to the stir for some calamari to add to it. They cook much faster. I love the Pulpo though!
2:40 well... i wasnt expecting it to just pop up like that, LOL! thats awesome.
I am making this for supper tonight, I was thinking of just grilling it with olive oil and garlic but the salad looks good
Gotta love the bloopies!
yummy never had octopus before
You need to let it thaw... otherwise it's gonna be too tough. Let it thaw for an hour until it's nice and soft then boil some water and insert the octopus into the water for a few seconds, remove it for a few seconds, then repeat the process 3 times so the skin toughens up and the inside will be nice and tender. I like to put in some balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar, lemon slices and a little garlic as well so the Octopus is tangy when it comes out.
You can season it however you want really, I think it tastes good inside a Greek Salad with Feta and Olives but I marinate it in Olive Oil for a few hours at least before putting it in :)
+Anastasia Dreiser-Ignatieff Not true. It is actually better to cook it with no water in a frozen state. It only becomes tough and chewy if you over cook it.
Her octopus was perfectly tender, so I don't know what you're going on about.

Learn how to use the reply button first, and then gibber your nonsense to the pigeons on your roof top....
I agree most chefs never boil the octopus. The temperature of the water should never be over 200 degree farenheit this prevents the meat from getting rubbery.
The video was how to make an octopus salad. Not how to cook it. So act like the octopus was already cooked and we're now seeing the salad prep. Or do you just like to preen?
Thanks, my next project.
When you said "..for the flavors to know each other" I was like..
Garlics: Hello, Octopus
Octopus: Hello, twins! And hello, salary!
Salary: Hello! Hey, Parsley!
.....aaaand all the other flavors say hello, too.
Okay, Imma freak now. *facepalm*
Octupus is very popular in Malta as well. We love it. And for those who are squeemish, I can tell you this...if you perhaps like shrimp, or crab perhaps...you will LOVE octopus. DON'T BE AFRAID! It's sweet, firm, and NOT fishy AT ALL! Try it!! Laura's recipe is simple, fresh, and very healthy!
Laura where did you get the plates and the cutting board with your name on it? I love those!!
In portugal we also put a little bit of chopped onion... MY GOSH SO DELICIOUSSSSSSSSSS
Give it a try... you gonna love it
I love this salad, I think octopus gets a bad rap because most folks aren't expose to eating it, but if they try I am sure they will love. Thanks for the video
@littlepianist89 It actually keeps its ink in a small glass vial, right next to its quill pen.
@ around 1:38 u sounded funny "u know what I'm sayin" Gonna try this recipe, mom bought me some and I had no idea how to cook it, but I have eaten it before and love the taste and texture, yummy!

you make me hungry ahhhhhh!!!!!
lol i love it!
I live in Malta, and we have fresh octopus all the time. HOWEVER, many Nanna's (Nonna's) tell me that freezing the octopus is actually BETTER as it kinda tenderizes it more. LOL I dunno - but I do what they say, and it's still good. NOTHING wrong with freshly frozen octopus!
OMg yes:D the video change back to original version:D yay this looks awesome too;D
I SEE YOUR SECRET TO YOUR PERFECT LIGHTING NOW

Here in Mauritius we can find salted sun-dried octopus and I don't know why but it's perfect for the octopus salad.
We have it in Portugal aswell. We eat it char grilled as a snack or soaked in water for 24 hours before cooked like fresh 👍
Laura..you saying "don't let it freak you out" isn't helping. I'm still .. FREAKING OUT!!!!

If i was in maine i could get it straight from port when the fishermen come in with their fresh catches. Hope to move there one day or japan. Two of my most favorite places. Right now i can just go to my asian market and get it from their tank. They have lobsters as well. Sadly no squid

mmm i love octopus :)
@NeeenO7 you're sooo right! Except, friendlier lol xD (because it happens after chopping parts)
Hi Laura :D Jst wantd to ask you if you could do an octopus stew or curry ^^
If you replace the parsley with cilantro, and the olive oil with sesame oil, then it's Chinese.
OCTOPUS FTW!!!!!!!!!!
Perfecto - Puerto Ricans eat lots of octopus...I always add capers and a tiny bit of chili when I make this salad.
Is this safe to eat while preggers?? My wife is nervous but since its cooked it should be ok right.

Was going to get this salad at the deli yesterday but it was $ 12.99 a pound? TOO MUCH! I found chopped/ frozen octopus on sale and I can't wait to try this recipe.
