  • Allegany Preservation Society Limited would like to thank Dean Liberty Jr. for the usage of his film that he shot during the Summer of 1982.
In this silent 8MM film, we see Norfolk & Western Class J #611 on her first excursions from Roanoke to Norfolk and Alexandria, Virginia after a lengthy restoration that saw the locomotive return to service just weeks prior.

Sure, must've been lucky to film 611 on her inarguable run for what would become her new life as an excursion star, aka the queen of steam.
