The "all the stuff in your house" one might shock some people, and I certainly won't sell ALL my stuff, but only because lots of my stuff is crap nobody would buy, ha. I did start there though, selling a bunch of dead animals preserved in jars that I liked but they just collected dust. That was less than a month ago and from there I caught the bug. Now I've sold a bunch of my stuff, plus stuff from garage sales, trash curbs and estate sales. I've made over $1500 in 25 days.

NWT clothing category was mentioned as having too much competition. We do fantastic in this NWT category. I think this is where the action is. As long as you buy at the right price and don't get too greedy you can do very good. 1. Easy to find at outlet and clearance stores. 2. Prices as low as $3.50 for name brands (average $5-$7). 3. Multiples of same items go in one listing. 4. No defects and washing not required. 5. Happy customers buying multiple items. 6. Great feedback. 7. Return buyers. Some brands we find a lot of are Tommy Bahama, Nike, Under Armour, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Columbia, Nautica, Hurley, Cubavera, True Religon, Affliction, etc. We also get Big & Tall items which are usually discounted more heavily. These are some of the reasons we have gone heavy into NWT and have reduced our preowned inventory. It does help if you live near a larger metro area like we do (Orlando). We even buy from major brand online stores when they run a one day clearout sale. Sign up for email alerts. Everyone has a Ross, Marshalls or TJ Max near them and there are even better places to find good inventory. We also have a few malls in the tourist area that are outlet stores only. We currently have around 500 NWT items in our store. They sell so fast it is hard to keep the inventory up. Most are MSRP $25-$80. Sometimes we find homeruns like the (3) Ralph Lauren pearl snap western shirts for $5 ea. Sold for $55 ea within a couple of weeks. Mike

Agree w/ NWT. I stumble across them occasionally, but it's not every time I thrift. But NWT does sell well. But those brands you mentioned - Tommy Bahama, Ralph Lauren, Columbia are plentiful on the racks and very slow sellers. I see so much of Tommy Stuff is depressing :)

Resell items no matter how nice are a tough sell. Any advice?

The biggest problem with going out and finding good products to sell is most people that have these things look this stuff up on eBay and then price it that way. No way to make a profit and why many are quitting eBay and amazon because its extremely difficult to make a profit because of this.

Your absolutely correct about video games. I've made great profit from them however it is extremely difficult to maintain a steady sourcing of inventory in the condition, etc needed to make that profit. (with boxes, manuals etc). 85% of the time you would be flipping for very low margins. They have been a great addition to my collectibles selling but definitely NOT a good bread and butter.

I have been between $1500 and $2500 a month on eBay. Tend to sell $30 plus items. Average working inventory listing of 100 to 120 items. I need to be around $4000 plus. I have a death pile probably of 100 items (don’t know for sure). I have had a few several day periods of no sales due partially to going out of town. Sales have been so spotty of late and my motivation to list has been low at times. Tend to sell electronics. Also I take care of my wife recovering from medical condition. I want consistency and momentum. This year has been so cyclical in sales. I need help but have been so guarded about it.

Unsolicited advice, I know. Hope you were joking, but just in case, PLEASE DO NOT give her the money to go get her own ring! Romance-that would go right out the window. Please don't do that. Payments are held for 21 days until you have been selling for over 90 days. That the biggest problem. Buyers will not buy due to low feedback (depends), ebay always takes the side of the buyer (eg the buyer scams you and even if the buyer tells ebay directly that he is scamming you, they will still take his side), and you have a selling limit (you can request an increase so not really a problem).
      But pretty good tbh.

Be careful selling medical devices, you have to be a authorized dealer to sell these. I was dinged for selling a donjoy iceman almost 60 days after it sold.

I NEED to hear more details about how you do your tax thing. I'm so clueless about it. I'm ready for all this, and started a while ago, but taxes I still have yet to figure out. Fortunately I haven't made enough to need to do that yet, but I need to figure it out soon. I liked your idea and want to know more.

What would you do if you lived in a very rural community in Nebraska? Would love to make a living selling on EBay but not sure what to sell. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks!

How close are you to Omaha/Lincoln/Fremont/Grand Island etc? It might be well worth your while to make a twice a month trip. I'm in Omaha and there are a lot of places to get new/used inventory. Keep in mind that you can write off mileage and expenses. : )

Maybe you could schedule a couple of trips/month no a metropolitan area and hit the shops there, but there’s also online arbitrage and dropshipping.
