    Come, Holy Spirit, come Teach us Faith, Hope and Love.
    Ps 146:1, Mk 12:35
    “Love does not consist in feeling great things but in having great detachment and in suffering for the Beloved (God)”
    😇 St John of God, pray for us sinners!

    If one carefully reads 2 timothy 3:17 we find the New Testament Scriptures are enough .... "that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work." exartizó = "furnished completely" for "every" good work. That the New testament Scriptures are included here in this passage is confirmed in 2 Timothy 3:15 where St Paul makes reference to the wisdom that the Scriptures provide concerning salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Old Testament only gives us shadows and types of the coming Messiah. Only in the New Testament do we have his name manifested. Jesus.
    2 timothy 3:17 makes it perfectly clear that the man of God has been furnished completely through the Scriptures (Old Testament and New Testament) for EVERY GOOD WORK. St. Paul does say that the man of God has been “partially furnish” … or “somewhat furnished,” but rather the man of God has been exartizó = "furnished completely" for "every" good work through the Scriptures of the 1st century.
    Likewise, Jesus told His Apostles that He would send them the Spirit of Truth, who would guide them in ALL TRUTH, (See John `16:13). Hence, the 1st century Apostles of Jesus were guided by the Spirit of Truth into ALL TRUTH as related to the faith. Jesus never promised His Apostles that New Revelations of Truth (that is, later traditions) would come centuries later through the Roman Catholic Church.
    Of course the following Scripture is the corker that slams the door on the traditions of the Romans Catholic Church:
    Jude wrote the following inspired Words: “... earnestly contend for the Faith that was ONCE FOR ALL DELIVERED UNTO THE SAINTS.” Jude 1:3 makes it clear that the Christians Faith-the body of Christian Doctrines necessary for obtaining life and godliness-was completed and delivered unto the Saints of the Church before the end of the 1st century.
    And guess what? Our dear Apostle Peter echoes this same sentiment in 2 Peter 1:3, 4 when he writes:
    “His divine power HAS GRANTED to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he HAS GRANTED to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature …” (2 Peter 1:3, 4)
    St. Peter makes it clear to his readers of the 1st century Church, that God “HAS GRANTED” (past perfect tense) everything they need to experience life, godliness, and the divine nature.
    Neither St. Peter nor any of the other Apostles ever stated that there would be subsequent writings, traditions or revelations that would enable us to experience life, godliness, and the divine nature. No, the writings of 2 Peter 1:3, 4 both declare and confirm the writings of our brother Jude who makes it clear that the Faith of the Church has “once for all been delivered (past tense) to the Saints” of the 1st Century.

    Using the same rule that you used to refute “scripture is the only infallible authority” could be used against NT scripture in that it doesn’t identify itself as scripture, right?

      “Scripture” and “Tradition” are equal idols. God is the sole authority and in whatever capacity he decides to reveal himself, he is justified in doing so. Who are we to judge the almighty God?

    Didn’t they say that just because it’s not explicitly in scripture doesn’t mean it’s not true? If that’s the case then sola scriptura is true.

    You are saying that Sola Scripture is not teach in Scripture. What then about 2TIm. 3:16 and 17? Specifically the words in v. 17 "that the man of God may be complete, ..."????

      Hello. 2 Tim 3:16 talks about the Old Testament not the New testament Canon. So sola scriptura is a Self- refuting doctrine.

      @@calson814 That the New testament Scriptures are also included here in this passage is confirmed in 2 Timothy 3:15 where St Paul makes reference to the wisdom that the Scriptures provide concerning salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Old Testament only gives us shadows and types of the coming Messiah. Only in the New Testament do we have his name manifested. Jesus. Thus, the context references both the Old Testament and the New Testament, which makes us wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

      @@harmur80 yes agreed the Old testament gave us shadows of the Messiah, and it has nothing to do with 2 Tim 3:16.
      Again, 2Tim 3: 15-17 here St Paul appeals to the sacred writings of Scripture referring to the Old Testament Scriptures with which Timothy was raised, not the New Testament Scriptures. Logically, there's no "New testament canon" during St Paul's time not until the 4th century.

    • @harmur80
      @harmur80 Рік тому

      @@calson814 That the New Testament Scriptures are also referenced in 2 Timothy 3:15-17, is confirmed by the context on two accounts: 1. First, in 2 Timothy 3:15 where St Paul makes reference to the wisdom that the Scriptures provide concerning salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. The Old Testament does not include any such talk about Salvation being through faith in Jesus Christ. Hence, for the unbiased, it is clear that St. Paul is also talking about the New Testament (as revealed in the 1st century epistles that were being circulated, copied and read in the 1st century churches).
      2. Secondly, with the rest of the context, especially 2 Timothy 3:17, where we find that the man of God is made “complete, furnished completely unto every good work.” The man of God could not be “complete, furnished completely unto every good work” without the revelation that comes from the New Testament. The Old Testament alone could not do this. It should also be noted that 2 Timothy was written towards the end of St. Paul’s life (See 2 Timothy 4:6-8), with the time frame being towards ca. 65 A. D. (Some historical records state that St. Paul was executed in Rome in about 67 AD., According to ancient sources such as Clement, Dionysius, Eusebius and Tertullian). Hence, given the historical context of 2 Timothy, we find that this time frame provides plenty of time for some of the New Testament epistles to be broadly circulated, copied and read by many of the Churches. Thus, it takes BOTH the Old Testament and the New Testament for the man of God to be made “complete, furnished completely unto every good work.” This could not occur by means of the Old Testament alone, which provides us with only the shadows / types of the greater realities found in the New Testament (Hebrew 10:1). In sum, it takes both the New Testament and the Old Testament for the man of God to be “complete, furnished completely unto every good work” for the purpose of “teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

      Jesus is the living word of God. The scriptures are wise, and the prophecies are from God alone. The idea that scripture in and of it self is our sole authority to our faith is pretty baseless the way I see it.

      Because of their traditions that was never passed on from the Jews to the Gentiles;
      “Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; and honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, Teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
      ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭15:1-9‬ ‭
      The very tradition that was passed on, Roman Catholics reject;
      “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.”
      ‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:10-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      They quote:
      “Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”
      ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      Which were Jewish traditions that was never passed onto the Gentiles; Romans 3:1-2.
      They also grossly misinterpret:
      “These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:14-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      Where Paul was writing to Timothy on exercising godliness in case he is delayed. The truth verse 15 is talking about is verse 16. Jesus, in other words Paul was telling Timothy to keep his eyes on Jesus for godliness in case he is delayed.
      Pretty messed up.
      Then they quote:
      “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      As if they experienced revelation from Gods Word, but yet make a video on sola scriptura that it doesn’t make sense to them. 😑
