Im a former Jehovahs Witness. I was talking to God last night explaining that my objections to Catholicism are the papacy (which I’m researching) and Mary. Then today I get on my UA-cam and this pops up. To say I feel like the Lord is reaching out to me is an understatement.
Reason and theology has amazing content explaining catholicism and refuting lies and strawmans about catholicism. Keep searching for the truth sister❤️❤️
As a regular Protestant listener who is not seeking to convert I would like to say that your testimony and many Catholics both online and in-person have demonstrated that the Catholic Church has such a powerful handle on the work of the Holy Spirit and so many ‘living’ Churches and many of our Protestant churches that are dead and dying and prostrating themselves before the secular world I yearn to worship where the Holy Spirit is honored and where God is worshipped sincerely. Prot/Cath..labels. The Children of God…those are the folks I want to listen to and talk to and spend eternity with. Thank you for the work you’re doing.
A church is just were believers gather. And people being taught false religion from catholic, orthodox, and protestant churches can have believers but they are not the church as Christ defined it. Those are all man made religions not biblical and Christ based religions.
The Church is NOT just the building, or the people in the nation, or the priest. The Church is all three gathered under the single roof, giving thanks and glorifying God Almighty in a covenant prayer! The covenant of gathered folks under one priest is MORE powerful than all of them praying alone in their homes. People do NOT know of the POWER of the prayer of the group! But if you see how on Easter 2020 all churches were CLOSED - you see the triumf of Darkness and the Grand Liar in the Covid Injections Massacre and your eyes OPEN wide in the Truth of God!
@@chrystalblue7170 You surely didn't find all that pond-scum theology in Scripture. You must be appealing to an external source. Who is your antipope? John Calvin? James White? Chrystalblue7170? My money's on the latter. Good luck fitting all of that pride into the hereafter. May God have mercy on you.
I was raised catholic and lost my faith during my teenage years, i now have returned thanks be to god and after watching this video i have had my final questions answered about becoming a full fledged catholic once again thank you all god bless you .
Yeah like why a Man would stay married to a Woman for decades that chooses to be a Virgin? That is ridiculous. Mary wasn't a Virgin her whole life. She was married and had more Children after Jesus.
I feel this. I rebelled because I went to Catholic school and church 3 times a week and just didn't want to do it anymore. Now that I'm about to start a family and times in the world are nuts, I feel more drawn to it.
I was “borned” into the Swedish Lutheran state church. When I was sixteen, I came into contact with the Church. My way in, was Mary. Her simple yes to God that changed the history was the image I would strive to live by. Thanks for making great content!
Mary acknowledged Jesus as her savior in *Luke 1:47* so the Immaculate Conception is absolutely a false doctrine and a heresy. Only a sinner needs a savior. *Luke 1:46-47 (KJV)* 46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. Anyone born of the seed of Adam is born into sin. *Romans 3:23*
I come from a family that has been very anti-Catholic from my earliest memories. I was raised in the Lutheran church, and as I grew I expanded my scope looking for something that made total sense to me. It was actually a discussion with my father, who as mentioned is very anti-Catholic, that got me looking into why the Deutero-canonical books were removed from the Bible that lead me to the last few weeks of research, and I had already decided on converting to Catholocism before finding this video, but like many Mary was a sticking point for me and I am so grateful that you had this episode. God bless, and by the way I could listen to all three of you talk anytime. All very soothing, articulate voices that I appreciated.
Thank you for this peaceful and respectful discussion! I am learning so much as a protestant about what Catholics actually believe and I am so impressed with how the beliefs are thought through and the perspective on scripture and symbolism! I feel like I'm being given glasses to see a different perspective on reading the bible, what church is, and what certain passages mean. I have so much more respect and understanding of the Catholic faith. Thank you!
Acquire the only Cath approved translation of the bible the Douay Rheims version. If you read some of the early church fathers you will not be able to find the bible verses, they quote without it. There are 7 more books. In the Prot bibles translations changed some of the verse #'s and others where whole chapters were dropped, like Danial 13 and 14. This book can be found free online for use. The Chandler version of the Douay Rheims has always held writings of what the church teaches on verses meanings that are hard to understand. Maps and a whole lot more. Deep diving. I was so appalled when I picked up an international bible and in a few places was all it took to see the translations had changed it to a demonic book. Be careful. In the Douay Rheims there is a prayer of protection to do so demonic interference cannot cloud your understanding. This will not help with bad translations!
Excellent episode! As a recent convert to Catholicism, I initially made attempts to energetically defend the Catholic position of Sacred Scripture. However, I quickly saw the greater need was to evangelize my new Catholic friends to get into Mass every Sunday and dig into their faith that they typically took for granted. After some time, I realized the call I received from our Lord was to grow in love for Him and His mother. Now all I want to do is be in Mass every day and receive the Holy Presence of our Lord in the Sacraments and grow in my diligence in regular confession. Amen Matt Fradd! Keep going brother! Amazing episode. Thank you so much for the work you are doing. God Bless you!
Mary needed the Holy Spirit, why did she go to the upper room? She doesn’t hold any power or authority! Come out of her( the false church) mercy mercy mercy ✝️
@@heismightytosave527 It's astoundingly clear from Scripture that Mary was glorified by her obedience. Of course, the moon gives off no light of her own. The Catholic Church has never claimed as much. We venerate Mary and the other saints only insofar as they reflect the light of Jesus Christ. How can you pretend to worship Him without accepting that of His glory found in others? Jesus talked about this all the time. "That which you do for the least of my brothers, that you do for me."
I was just musing on this phrase in light of my own struggles with Mary. "As God willed to humble himself in Mary through Christ, so does wish to humble you in Christ through Mary." When I struggled with Mary as the teenage son of a devout Catholic mother and a Reformed Presbyterian Minister father, I would argue with my dear mother constantly, repeating the flat objections my father raised. Eventually, she said in exasperation, "Have you ever considered that maybe God wants it this way?" She stopped my rambling dead, for I realized that I was so obsessed with sussing out what I could perceive as true and honoring God in the way I deemed proper that I failed to listen faithfully. I have not had issue with Mary since, save some frustration that, as was discussed in this interview, we let our reverence for Mary be a foremost stumbling block for our Protestant brothers and sisters. However, in light of what I have just shared, perhaps Mary is the most appropriate introductory issue for a Protestant, generally, since to accept her is to be humbled and to submit oneself to being taught not just by Christ but also his Church.
We Protestants aren't considered brothers and sisters according to some earlier popes and are considered departed brethren by modern popes. Who is correct?
But it seems some can love her as much as they love Jesus. I've never heard or experienced Protestants denying Mary is Jesus's mother and the virgin birth is true. That's where it ends though. Not to be worshipped or deified. Going to heaven without dying is maybe true but why is it so critical to believe that, especially without any historical context or scripture.
@@stephensuttles6913Not worshipped, it’s venerated. We never “worship” Holy Mother. All worship is reserved for The Lord God in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Mother Mary herself would utterly reject us if our humility, love and respect ever approached an act of “worship”. In the fullness of it, she would reject you for accusing us of worshipping her, the wonder of her though is that in her divine nature she would help you find your way if you sought truth rather than confirmation of the arguments against her nature which were never considered by the Church Fathers.
@@MrDoyle07the problem is, that just saying you aren’t worshipping doesn’t automatically make it so. I can say, for example, Islam is a religion of peace, and get angry at those non-Muslims that say otherwise, but if it’s not actually a religion of peace then it’s not. Simple as that. Regardless of what I say
Pleeeeeease don't. Mary worship is heresy. So is their "father" Pope. Jesus is the only intermediary that we need! Praying to dead men is also heresy. C'mon you know this! Seek the Lord on this please.
@@19nineteenthirteen19 have you looked into the Catholic/Protestant discussions? For instance have you listened to Catholics defend the practice of requesting prayer from the saints? You said “Mary worship” so I’m guessing you are not familiar with Catholic Mariology.
I've pondered about the importance of names in the Bible. It seems that those who played major roles in God's plan of salvation were given name changes (Abram-Abraham, Jacob-Israel, Simon-Peter, etc.) that corresponded with their callings. I think it's significant that while hanging from the cross, Jesus calls Mary "Woman" (see John 19:25) rather than "Mary", "Mother" (or "Mama", "Mom", etc.). Adam's first name for his helper/companion was "Woman" (Gen.2:23) but after she sinned, he changed her name to "Eve" (Gen.3:20). So it seems to me that Our Lord is referring to Mary by a more meaningful name - the first name ever given to a woman BEFORE sin entered the world. It seems that Jesus is telling us that He sees her as in the same state as Eve was BEFORE she sinned - immaculate. How am I wrong?
Grew up Protestant and attended public schools… I literally never heard the Catholic perspective until I attended RCIA… I went into my Catholic journey thinking the Immaculate Conception referred to Christ’s conception 🤦♂️🤣 Educate the public we have been heavily propagandized. 🙏
I tought the same thing. But now understanding what immaculate conception means, it doesnt make sense, that would make her not human and give her the status of almost god like.
In the year 1854, four years before the start of the apparitions at Lourdes, Pope Pius IX had declared the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary to be an “article of faith” to be believed by all Catholics. Several years later, in 1858, the Blessed Mother gave her name to St. Bernadette at Lourdes stating, "I am the Immaculate Conception." The Lady responded in the Bigourdane dialect, “Que soy era Immaculada Conceptiou,” which means, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” This convinced the skeptical Parish Priest of Lourdes, l’Abbe Peyramale, that Bernadette’s visions were genuine. He knew she couldn’t have heard of the Papal definition four years earlier, and she didn’t know what the words meant. St. Bernadette-who was 14 years old, unlettered, and failed her catechism exam-couldn't even pronounce "Immaculada Conceptiou" when she told others this was who the Lady said she was. However, priests certainly knew that the Immaculate Conception is the Mother of God. There is no way St. Bernadette could have fabricated this, which proves the miraculous nature of the Our Lady of Lourdes apparitions.
@@madelynhernandez7453 Adam and Eve were also created without the stain of original sin, were they Gods? Were they not human? The immaculate conception does not raise Mary to the status of a God or some sort of non-human, it simply offers an explanation for her virtue and holiness. Do you not think it is fitting for the mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to have been born without original sin? For the mother of God?
This show was awesome. Thank you so much! As a Protestant in the process of crossing the Tiber, the information - and the calm and kind way in which it was presented - was incredibly helpful. Love the longer shows, with the relaxed atmosphere and attention to detail - so great!
As a protestant, I will say that it bothers me greatly when some evangelicals refer to Mary as "just a vessel" or that she was not blessed above other woman or that she had found great favor. I do not agree with the Marian dogmas or Marian devotion, but she is certainly deserving of immense respect that others are not.
As a fellow protestant, I completely agree. Mary certainly has theological implications, even if I disagree with the Catholic conclusion to those implications. Not to mention at the very least, Mary was a human being like all of us, loved PERSONALLY by God in a way very unique! How dehumanizing must it be to conclude even just theologically that Mary is just a vessel?
@@Oilofmercy Not necessarily. The Greek word used could also mean close cousins or kin. Also, these "brothers" could have sons of Joseph from a previous marriage. Therefore, the passages that refer to Jesus having brothers and sisters don't invalidate the perpetual virginity of Mary.

I'm a protestant and have loved learning about catholicism through the show. I've also been learning about eastern orthodoxy. Yesterday I was praying and asking God about how I should view Mary, since my protestant and more Calvinistic upbringing make me wary of what can look like Mary worship and some teaching might feel "extra-biblical". How timely that you've released this! I'm looking forward to watching!
Thank you for an open heart to seek God's will. As a cradle catholic, I did not like and think much about Mary until I became a parent. Anyone who cares and loves my kids is doing great favor to me. I am praying that I can love Her more and more.
You should also check out about eastern catholic churches. These are 24 diffrent churches with diffrent tradition, liturgy etc. From each other (incl the Latin Catholics) . You enjoy all of these while still being a Catholic. Many of the churches are orthodox equivalent of Catholics.
Just as an FYI Marian worship/sacrifice was condemned by the church because a small sect of Christians in the 4 and 5th century were sacrificing bread to Mary this was called Collyridianism. One thing Protestants usually misunderstand is what Catholics consider worship. For a Protestant prayer and praise is worship. For Catholics prayer and praise is only part of worship, the main element of worship for Catholics is sacrifice which is what is revealed on our altars at the Mass which is the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ at Calvary.
@James G. Your comment gave me chills. Thanks for your honesty and openness. I'm hopeful that you'll come to know Mary, who always points us to her Son. We can never love Mary more than Jesus. And if she's good enough for Jesus she's good enough for us. Blessings
Thank you so much Matt for producing content like this! It brings me closer to Jesus, He loves His mother. ;) ♥️🙏🏼☦️
this is most definitely the definitive show on answering Mary objections. thank you so much for this matt. These two were fantastic and you are also amazing.
Virgin birth and eternal Hell are proven myths using the Bible. Paul says clearly that believing Christ was born that way is Antichrist.... just think about how evil these doctrines are. They make christ a diety, not a man like we are. Paul said Jesus destroyed sin in himself... that means he was a man in every sense of the word.
“And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. THEN, she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”- Luke 1:41-42 We have to take what the Holy Spirit inspires people to speak into consideration- especially if it’s in the Bible.

You know what’s weird? Some people have difficulty praying to Mary after first entering the Catholic church. Especially after being non-Catholic Christians all their lives. I get that. I didn’t have issues praying to Mary at all. I was asking her to intercede with God for me from day one. But as a former atheist who had just come to terms with having had an intense experience meeting God and having the Holy Spirit dumped on me. I had and incredibly difficult time praying to Jesus… The concept of Jesus as God was really foreign to me. The saints I could deal with, and Mary was another saint in my eyes. Jesus took time for me to fully embrace. I’d almost never even said the name in my entire life. While I knew a few Marys and had used the word God many times in discussions against religion. So, in effect I was a Christian who couldn’t pray to Jesus, but could pray to His mother 😂 I’m very happy to say I’ve by now fully embraced the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and pray to Him all day long! He’s in my mind constantly, I’m even telling Him jokes sometimes when I notice myself having a little sinful thought or falling back to errant behaviours from before my Salvation. He’s becoming my best friend 🙏❤ God bless, this conversation was amazing!
@@caidtc4555I honestly kinda get it, when I was a kid, I had trouble understanding the doctrine of the Trinity, until I look into the early church and read the Bible.
Scripture is very clear, Jesus is the ONE and ONLY way to the Father…you are not to pray to the dead…you are very deceived…I pray that the truth will find you, in the mighty name of Jesus. Deuteronomy 18:11 , 1 Samuel 28: 1-25 , 1 Chronicles 10:13-14
Matt, you 100% nailed it with your observation at the end. The problem with William is that he attempt to make arguments by either eisegeting the text or reading into a writing of an ECF like Epiphanius. It’s not until you read the text or the writing for yourself that you realize that it’s not seen claims it’s the same. He also has a lot of assumptions, like the assumption of Mary being taught in liturgies in the second century. I listen to his conversation with Daley. He stated that the assumption “might” have been expressed in liturgies in the third century, and “possibly,” as early as the second century. This is questionable language. He didn’t actually provide any evidence of this. In reality, you don’t find this being taught until the fifth to sixth centuries. Even Ephraim did NOT teach it. I discussed this in a video I made critiquing his rebuttal video of Dr Gavin Ortlund. William took a lot of liberty with certain texts.
@@BornAgainRNOrtlund has been proven to be very deceptive, using spurious canons and heavy cherry picking. How about you watch more videos from William where he clarifies this instead of repeating Ortlund's words? Why does Ortlund keep rejecting debating Albrecht, who is very open to confrontation, while calling him "mean"? Ortlund takes a lot of things out of context and tries to talk as if he knows the subject but if you look at his sources and the context you'll see he doesn't (and that's a charitable interpretation of his behaviour)
As Catholic, I grew up with parents who taught us to respect, learn about others; my parents are the reason I stay Catholic, if my parents would have had a different religion teaching us the same to respect and embrace differences and learn where those differences come from I would have remained my parents religion. With that I must say I have friends with different religious denominations and I have attended their Bible studies and I have attended the Bible study at my Catholic Church. I wish my Catholic Church Bible study had the formation of the people teaching found in this video; they so knowledgeable, respectful and focused on the theme without criticizing others. Thank you for the quality of this presentation.

As a lapsed Catholic trying to actually understand if I believe in Mary or not, this is going to be interesting! Its like some omniscient, omnipresent entity knew I needed to see this... 😆
Jack Farr, as far as I have heard in the last five yrs of study, Mary is fully human , not Omnipresent or omniscient. But, her position forever is Divine. Only the Godhead are those things. She is the first Believer of All born on this planet! She is the Mother of God. She is to be honored but not worshipped. She is the Mother of the Church. She is Holy. She is the Holy Vessel that “housed” the Son of man, the Son of God, God Himself. Awesome! Look up Brant Pitre on Mary. And Scott Hahn. Blessings!😀

Why would you need to pray for people who don't believe Mary is to be prayed to or deified but do believe she was the virgin mother of God. Mary has zero to do with salvation. Pray for lost souls, not different dogmas.
Every good Jewish boy listens to his mother , and Jesus is no different. It started at Cana. Blessed Mother holds a special place in the Father’s heart. She volunteered to bring the son of God, Spirt of God, essence of the Father into the world! Blessed Mother appears to millions of people of all faiths and tells them “listen to my son”! Many times she carries baby Jesus! God has given her the honor to visit us so she could express to us how much her Son loves us, and how much she cares for us! All the other little points of contention are frivolous distractions!
I was captivated from the moment this show began. An absolutely amazing discussion about Mary, the Mother of God using Biblical, historical and writings from the early (Catholic Christian) Church Fathers and other sources prove that everything the Magisterium of the Catholic Church teaches about the Blessed Virgin Mary is true. These guests were fantastic. Thank you Matt for an outstanding show.
@van1593 you can also look it up on UA-cam, so you can do it through video & w/ other ppl . This helps you walk w others & not feel alone. The Consecration which is very much hated by the Devil & heavily attacked by him.
Could you please create an episode focused on helping those who are currently discerning between Catholicism and Orthodoxy? This would be tremendously helpful for me and I’m sure many others. Thank you!
All you need is the saints. Whatever is hard to believe in the Roman Catholic Church is immediately trumped by the reality of the saints over the last even just 100 years. Mother Teresa, JPII, Maximillian Kolbe, Padre Pio, St Maria Goretti, St Gemma Galgani, Pier Georgio, etc. list is endless and the canonization process is brutally rigid and many legitimate miracles get thrown out because of politics. Now go look at the orthodox process for canonization and tell me which Church is the one true Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
@@JoeSwingleIII Interesting. I'd never thought to compare the differences in their canonization processes. For some reason, I'm also sympathetic to the Eastern process, because there is still consensus, and also because I've read the lives of many Orthodox saints and find them all to be totally amazing. But, I DID end up becoming Catholic! In the end, I found many other convincing reasons to become Catholic as opposed to Orthodox. For example, I find the fact that the Orthodox don't have a unified position on whether or not to re-Baptize converts very concerning. And they've got several other big problems, that I won't go into here. Anyway, thank you for this comment!
Big difference is the fact that the Roman Catholic or Universal church is a realization of what Jesus Christ established; meanwhile, the Orthodox are not universal, merely national.

In Athanasius’ On the Incarnation (circa 325), Ch. 2, para 8, he writes of Mary as a “spotless, stainless virgin” and a “pure body”. He then expands this thought, “He, the Mighty One, the Artificer of all, Himself prepared this body in the virgin as a temple for Himself, and took it for His very own, as the instrument through which He was known and in which He dwelt.” These words suggest Athanasius’ belief in both the Immaculate Conception and Mary as the new Ark.

As a convert myself I sometimes forget how hard it is for many Protestants to come home to the truth of the Catholic Church. In a sense I guess I was meant to be Catholic even though Christ, going to Church and what not was front and center in my family and even the community and Public school I went to. As far as I know I'm the only Catholic in my family and can't recall any of my friends or school mates growing up that where Catholic. Without realizing it My introduction to and beleife in the authority and truth of the Church began with horror movies beleive it or not. For weather it was Vampires or other Denomic forces they never seamed to get anywhere untill they got help from Preists, Nuns, Holy Water, Crucifixes and what not. So from a very early age I saw Preists as sort of the elite of the Ministers if you will. And have always held a high degree of respect for them and Nuns more so then any Protestant Reverend. So when I started attending RCIA classes and learning the whole truth I never questioned any of it sure I had a lot of questions but I was more angry then anything that the whole truth was hidden from me my entire life. As my faith and knowledge of the Church as a whole has grown I'm more and more convinced of the fact that the Catholic Church is the one true faith. And Mother Mary well she's the key. To Christ through Mary. For she makes the path to Christ much clearer, straighter, broader and easier then without her. Can you make it without her or without knowledge of her intercession. I'm sure you can but your path is so so much better and your chances of getting there are so so much better with her then without.
It seems to me you are very confused and angry for no reason that I can understand and seem to have a really bad view of protestantism and the arguments against the worship of Mary. It is Christ who intercedes on our behalf and the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us to Christ. Mary is blessed and should be treated with all due reverence and respect, but she is not the one who saves us nor intercedes for us to the Father, for she is asleep with all of our brothers and sisters past.
Www amazing thanks very informative 👍 I attend a pentecostal church ⛪️ but my old pastor who has left now always used to say it's not about denominations it's about a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ x but the more I've listened and read our Bible the Bible does talk about the Saints and apostles and I'm studying 📖 luke at the moment 🙏 ❤️ I would just like to add I've recently started praying the rosary 📿 and I love mother Mary she's very important to us and I personally don't have an issue with her at all she's to be admired God's love and blessings to you all in the name of the farther son and holy spirit ❤️ 😊

@@markwilson1724 If you read the entire Bible, it is all about the story of how the Messiah comes to earth and leaves us the gift of his body and blood to share in his divinity. From the beginning, sacrifice was worship and the representation of the sacrifice of Christ in the Eucharist is the fulfillment of John 6 and the ultimate sacrifice and worship. In all of the Bible the altar was the place of sacrifice and worship to God and the Altar at the Catholic Mass is the sacrifice of the Pascal Lamb, Jesus Christ, brought to us across time so he is actually present in the priest consecrating the Eucharist. Take a look at the short video, "The Veil Removed." ir is the representation of what happens at the Mass, ua-cam.com/video/OOLZDaTgIaM/v-deo.html.
@hotconcrete The sacrifice on the cross can never be repeated. Christ was offered once. Hebrews 9:25-28 [25] nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; [26] for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. [27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: [28] so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 7:25-27 [25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. [26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; [27] who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. So you eat real flesh & drink real blood? Are those items used perishable? For if those items perish then they cannot be Christ Himself. Taking a physical property of this world & making it into God itself? The bread 🍞 & wine 🍷cannot become the body & blood🩸 for Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today & forever.👇 Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.👇 Psalm 102:27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.👇 Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not. God does All that He pleases & isn't subject to mens control. Eg bread & wine. I'm afraid you are limiting GOD to earthly substances & vessels. Is Jesus not forever alive? At the right hand of Father until His return? If the bread & wine are really God he'd have to be dead if you were consuming him? For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.. To think the very Creator of the universe, the Eternal God, man can place him into bread & wine? Nothing Spiritual can be eaten? Christ Jesus blood is devine. Not human blood. He is made of the Spirit, flesh & blood. Matthew 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe not...
Not gonna lie my friends, when I prayed the Rosary/ Sacred heart daily, I noticed I was much more resistant to temptation, and my spirit oft found rest in petitioning our Mother in times of distress. I look back now and regret letting go of her. Pray for me?
The Apostolic Church presented a straightforward, realistic, and very human picture of Mary. Saintly, but not extraordinarily so, when compared to those having walked alongside Jesus throughout His ministry. In John, Mary is mentioned in the inglorious request she made of Jesus at a wedding. His brothers clearly disbelieve Him. And Jesus tells John that she may be his responsibility at the darkest of times, during and following His crucifixion. Hence, the spiritual sword Jesus had explicitly mentioned bringing into the world through His ministry had divided even His own household. For example, in Matthew 10:34-36 we read Jesus saying: "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household." Thus, as a new spiritual family called the Church was emerging amidst such conflicts, Jesus compassionately spoke to an immediate concern. However, from the beginning, Mary held and would have no special status or role.... Matthew 12:46-50: "While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Luke 11:27-28: "As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and blessed are the breasts that nursed You. But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Acts 1:12-14: "Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers." Notice that in the above list of earliest Disciples, Mary was mentioned only after the women who regularly followed Jesus and just before His previously unbelieving brothers. Therefore, it doesn't appear as though Mary was ever considered or presented as an extraordinary role model or guide when compared to any of Jesus's closest followers. Nor does she appear otherwise in writings from the earliest Fathers of the Church. Nevertheless, if anyone can provide explicit Scriptural statements demonstrating the contrary position, please do so. As someone having been on a long spiritual journey, I am committed to finding Truth. And, apart from such revelation, all pertinent evidence suggests that worldly sentiment led to abstract eisegesis and over reaching in theological discourse. From these forces a grand and glossy but ultimately unwarranted and undesirable tradition has arisen within Christ's Holy Church. Indeed, the first demon Jesus ever encountered was in a synagogue. That is, amidst the devout liturgical gatherings of God's own people. And the "Divine Mother" and "Queen of Heaven" motifs were commonplace in demonic ancient religion, including within Biblically and theologically compromised Israel itself (Jer. 44). Moreover, prior to medieval Christian claims in regards to the Apostles, the Pharisees had already developed dogma based an alleged authoritative oral tradition having been passed down alongside Scripture from Moses. A principle condemned by none other than Jesus: "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition!" Hence, all such historical realities clearly and intentionally warn us of the very subtle, yet powerful, ways in which "doctrines of demons" have been and can be introduced as if delivered by a Moses or the Apostles themselves. Finally, let's hear from recognized authorities on the matter of Scripture vs developing Church Traditions in matters of theology.... Clement of Alexandria (d. ca. 216) said, “But those who are ready to toil in the most excellent pursuits, will not desist from the search after truth, till they get the information from the Scriptures themselves” (Stromata 7:16). Hippolytus of Rome (d. 235) said, “There is, brethren, one God, the knowledge of whom we gain from the Holy Scriptures and no other source” (Against the Heresy of One Noetus 9). St. Athanasius (d. 375) said, “The Holy Scriptures, given by inspiration of God, are of themselves sufficient toward the discovery of truth. (Orat. adv. Gent., ad cap.) “The holy Scripture is of all things most sufficient for us” (To the Bishops of Egypt 1:4)." "The Catholic Christians will neither speak nor endure to hear anything in religion that is a stranger to Scripture; it being an evil heart of immodesty to speak those things which are not written,” (Exhort. ad Monachas). “Vainly then do they run about with the pretext that they have demanded Councils for the faith’s sake; for divine Scripture is sufficient above all things; but if a Council be needed on the point, there are the proceedings of the Fathers, for the Nicene Bishops did not neglect this matter, but stated the doctrine so exactly, that persons reading their words honestly, cannot but be reminded by them of the religion towards Christ announced in divine Scripture.” (De Synodis, 6). St. Cyril of Jerusalem (d. 386) said, "We ought not to deliver even the most casual remark without the Holy Scriptures: nor be drawn aside by mere probabilities and the artifices of argument. Do not then believe me because I tell thee these things, unless thou receive from the Holy Scriptures the proof of what is set forth: for this salvation, which is of our faith, is not by ingenious reasonings, but by proof from the Holy Scriptures...Let us then speak nothing concerning the Holy Ghost but what is written; and if anything be not written, let us not busy ourselves about it. The Holy Ghost Himself spoke the Scriptures; He has also spoken concerning Himself as much as He pleased, or as much as we could receive. Be those things therefore spoken, which He has said; for whatsoever He has not said, we dare not say" (Catechetical Lectures, 4.17ff). St. Gregory of Nyssa (d. 394) said, "What then is our reply? We do not think that it is right to make their prevailing custom the law and rule of sound doctrine. For if custom is to avail for proof of soundness, we too, surely, may advance our prevailing custom; and if they reject this, we are surely not bound to follow theirs. Let the inspired Scripture, then, be our umpire, and the vote of truth will surely be given to those whose dogmas are found to agree with the Divine words (Dogmatic Treatises, Book 12. On the Trinity, To Eustathius). St. Ambrose (d. 396) said, “How can we use those things which we do not find in the Holy Scriptures?” (Ambr. Offic., 1:23). St. Augustine (d. 430) said, "For the reasonings of any men whatsoever, even though they be [true Christians], and of high reputation, are not to be treated by us in the same way as the canonical Scriptures are treated. We are at liberty, without doing any violence to the respect which these men deserve, to condemn and reject anything in their writings, if perchance we shall find that they have entertained opinions differing from that which others or we ourselves have, by the divine help, discovered to be the truth. I deal thus with the writings of others, and I wish my intelligent readers to deal thus with mine (Letters, 148.15).
I volunteered at a pregnancy center today to serve for penance and this organization is an evangelical org. I have never felt more disappointed and discriminated against in my life for my faith. I’m still unsure how I feel about it. Perhaps what martyrdom feels like? This lady recognized me from the last time I served she said to me “oh your the girl from that Catholic Church” then I was refused a volunteer position because I believe one must receive the sacrament of reconciliation to be forgiven of my sin. When a mutual friend who served with me today mentioned what transpired to one of her Protestant friends, she said “Catholics are similar to Christian’s” the only difference is Mary. Instantly my heart started hurting. It confirmed why I’m doing the 5 1st Saturdays to repair the immaculate heart of Mary.
I’m a few minutes in but I cannot tell you how excited I am to listen to this podcast. The topic of mary is perhaps my biggest obstacle in becoming Catholic. If I’m wrong, I hope to have my mind changed :)
Nowhere in scripture is there a call to venerate Mary. Praying to anyone besides God is idol worship. Mary is dead. You're practicing necromancy. Witchcraft. An abomination.
That's a great point, although I probably would have specified "radical feminism" as the primary culprit, or at least presented a vague description of how it's carried out in practice. Generally, though, I agree. Protestantism has a greater tendency to devalue feminine traits of mercy and obedience in counterpart to masculine ones of glory and power, and that in turn undermines the universal call to sainthood by way of humility. It was through Mary's "let it be done unto me" that Christ became man in order to redeem all of humanity!
Thank you for sharing this discussion. I'm a Protestant convert and am journeying toward Marian devotion but am not there yet. Your conversation helped me immensely. Did I hear mention of a book containing these talking points? If so I would really like to read it.
Just observe what the old ladies do with The Rosary prayers in your local Catholic church. They are always very devoted and full of grace they will probably give you some good tips.

This comment is precisely the problem for Protestants. You have attributed your healing to Mary and apparently forgotten that "By His stripes we are healed". You seem to have forgotten Jesus.

I watched all three hours of it. There wasn’t anything new or fresh I haven’t heard before. I have addressed all of these arguments in my past debates and discussions on the Marian dogmas. Didn’t really dress the difficult questions, just a lot of softball questions. Old hat.

According to Dr. Brant Pitre, Eusebius records that the brothers of Our Lord were the sons of Clopas, whom Hegesippus recorded was the brother of St. Joseph. Dr. Pitre also demonstrates that St. Joseph was anywhere from 28-49 years of age, based on the particular Greek word used in Scripture (when comparing that word to Jewish literature from Philo). So while older, he was not considered an Old Man according to custom.
I have two copies of Eusebius church history. And neither of them affirm that Hegesippus these brothers of Jesus were anything other than younger half siblings. In fact Hegesippus affirms just the opposite. He does right that there is a man name Simon who is the son of Clopas who is the brother of Joseph. But you have to understand the name “Simon” was a very common Jewish male name in Israel in the first century. In other words, this is not the same “Simon” who is described as one of the brothers of Jesus.
@@BornAgainRN Book 3 Chapter 11 “After the martyrdom of James and the conquest of Jerusalem which immediately followed, it is said that those of the apostles and disciples of the Lord that were still living came together from all directions with those that were related to the Lord according to the flesh (for the majority of them also were still alive) to take counsel as to who was worthy to succeed James. They all with one consent pronounced Symeon, the son of Clopas, of whom the Gospel also makes mention; to be worthy of the episcopal throne of that parish. He was a cousin, as they say, of the Saviour. For Hegesippus records that Clopas was a brother of Joseph.” Book 4 Chapter 22:4 “And after James the Just had suffered martyrdom, as the Lord had also on the same account, Symeon, the son of the Lord's uncle, Clopas, was appointed the next bishop. All proposed him as second bishop because he was a cousin of the Lord.”
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.-1 Timothy 2:5-6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”-John 14:6
There is so much to learn from scripture. I am humbled by the Holy men who were led by the Holy Spirit to write down (and now men to help us understand), God’s Divine Word. Thank you God for the Catholic Church. I love this peaceful and reverent explanation to help Protestant’s learn about God’s beautiful masterpiece of the Blessed Mother. I pray for Unity in the One True Church ❤
Just my own musings ,but for me the pivotal point in salvivic history was the incarnation..All the tragic sufferings and prophersies of the old testament culminate in Mary's fiat. The world was waiting and yearning for this messiah. The very moment He was made man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin our salvation was possible. The significance of that point in time has always blown my mind. Sancta Maria Mater Dei !
As a Protestant I get Mary literally being the mother of God in that she was chosen to give birth to Jesus but I don't understand praying to her or idolizing her. I don't get asking her to intercede on your behalf.
Saints and their intercession are normal in all Apostolic traditions. What you don't get is tradition and what it means. You should try to wrap your head around the ways those churches differ from protestant churches.
Why is it a sin if we ask Mary the Mother of our Lord chosen by Almighty God to intercede on our behalf? So if somebody asking you to pray for them what will you do? Only your pastors can pray for others? PROTESTANTS ALWAYS PROTEST AGAINST THE CHURCH THAT OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST BUILD. JESUS BUILD ONLY ONE CHURCH THROUGH HIS APOSTLE PETER ONLY NOT EVEN TO HIS 11 APOSTLES BUT ONLY ONE CHURCH AND THE POPES ARE THE SUCCESSORS RIGHT FROM HIS APOSTLE PETER. ONLY THE SON OF ALMIGHTY GOD CAN BUILD THE CHURCH. NO MAN CAN BUILD THEIR OWN CHURCHES.
Is it a sin to ask Mother of God to intercede on our behalf? And it is a sin or idolizing if your pastor praying on your behalf? Luke 6:45 - Jrsus said "the good man out of the good treasure of his heart produces good and evil man out of his evil treasure produces evil; for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks". Mathew 17:20 - Jesus said "because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed you will say to this mountain, move, from from here to there, it will move, nothing will be impossible to you". Mathew 22:32 - Jesus said to all of us "I am the GOD of Abraham, the GOD of Isaac, the GOD of Jacob. HE IS NOT GOD OF THE DEAD BUT OF THE LIVING". John 6:47 - Jesus say to all of us "truly, truly, I say to you he who believes has eternal life".
It is the weakest argument I've ever heard....they are claiming that Protestants kept believing in perpetual virginity and as an accretion abandoned the dogma?? NO! We believe Sola Scriptura and perpetual virginity is not in Scripture!! That's it. No need to ask "what else are they gonna deny as time goes?" or the claim that it was a result of unbelieving people who spearheaded the movement...It's very disingenuous. We just deny any dogmas that are extrabiblical, ESPECIALLY when the rejection of them is anathematized....
@@alhilford2345 Neither is pedophilia...does that mean it's not addressed in scripture? The ultimate authority is God's OWN WORDS! As relayed to us in scripture, therefore it's the only infallible referent, not a human institution....He is the Bridegroom, our Lord, we the church are the Bride and we ought to be submissive to Him alone.
the Heavens cant contain God, a House cannot contain God, yet Mary cantained God in her Womb, something no one will ever repeat in history, you should read about how many times in the Bible the Bride is picked by the parents.
Objection to Mary?? lol I admit I grew up Catholic but not understanding the fuss, but respected her memory as Jesus’ mother. In hindsight I think the veneration of her perfection and virginal rep etc was intimidating. Until May 31 three years ago… I dared to ponder, something tells me there’s more to her than what I’ve been “taught”. The rest of the day, her image kept popping up everywhere and then that night, an apparition and channeling of sorts. but I can only say it was a vibration of love and light that melted me inside out and i dissolved into a sobbing mess it was so beautiful. I thought omg…it’s the divine mother feminine aspect of God’s energy we’ve all forgotten in our earthly incarnations how separated we are from it’s perfect love. But it’s returning thanks to many devoted lightworkers. I wept for hours. She was truly so endearing. She lit my heart with a blue flame that blazed for days until I fell out of vibration perhaps, but it was an amazing experience that changed me forever. So beyond humbled and grateful. She is here for us more powerfully than ever before was one of her messages. This energy is very much needed on the planet at this time and consecration to her is a powerful way to anchor it here.
I am protestant so I don’t share many of the views discussed here. One thing that helped me not to be hostile to those who differ from me on this issue is to remember that Mary (whatever you believe otherwise) was the mother of Jesus and Jesus was a sinless man and he definitely obeyed the command to honor his father and mother. And so I ought also to honor her and be careful what I say about her or the dogmas about her in the process of this discussion.
I am not a Catholic but I love this podcast. Its very educational and it made me appreciate rigor of Catholicism. With that being said, I have learned a lot listening to this podcast in regards to Mary but there were instances where I could not help but roll my eyes.
I have prayed about this a lot, and then i read the chapter in Luke that goes, "blessed is the womb that birthed you!' And Jesus said to them, 'ya, rather more blessed is the one who hears the word of the father and obeys!" It clicked in my mind, Mary is blessed, to the point we should and do honor her today, but it is more important that we follow and obey the Father's word which is Jesus. Remember when jesus was asked, "your mother and brothers seek you' and Jesus said to them, 'who is my mother and brothers? Look around you..."? Give Mary honor, but things like praying to her, Hail Marys', or asking her to intercede for you are where you go too far.
Excellent discussion. Regarding Genesis 3:15, it seem that it wasn´t so obvious even for some Jews. For example Philo of Alexandria acknowledges the masculine language in the Septuagint but nevertheless believes “he” refers to the woman: "And the expression, ‘He shall watch thy head, and thou shalt watch his heel’ is, as to its language, a barbarism, but, as to the meaning which is conveyed by it, a correct expression. Why so? It ought to be expressed with respect to the woman: but the woman is not he, but she. What, then, are we to say?" Philo then gives a convoluted explanation as to why he thinks the woman is referred to as “he.” Source: On the Creation. Allegorical Interpretation of Genesis 2 and 3, LXVII Maimonides was one of Judaism’s most brilliant thinkers. He comments: Another noteworthy Midrashic remark of our Sages is the following: “The serpent had a rider, the rider was as big as a camel, and it was the rider that enticed Eve: this rider was Samael.” Samael is the name generally applied by our Sages to Satan. Thus they say in several places that Satan desired to entice Abraham to sin, and to abstain from binding Isaac, and he desired also to persuade Isaac not to obey his father. At the same time they also say, in reference to the same subject, viz., the Akedah (the binding of Isaac), that Samael came to Abraham and said to him, “What! Have you-being an old man-lost your senses?” This shows that Samael and Satan are identical. There is a meaning in this name Samael, as there is also in the name nachash (serpent). In describing how the serpent came to entice Eve, our sages say, “Samael was riding on it, and God was laughing at both the camel and its rider.” It is especially of importance to notice that the serpent did not approach or address Adam, but all his attempts [approach, speech] were directed against Eve, and it was through her that the serpent caused injury and death to Adam. The greatest hatred exists between the serpent and Eve, and between his seed and her seed; her seed being undoubtedly also the seed of man. More remarkable still is the way in which the serpent is joined to Eve, or rather his seed to her seed: the head of the one touches the heel of the other. Eve defeats the serpent by crushing its head, whilst the serpent defeats her by wounding her heel. This is likewise clear. (Guide for the Perplexed, book II, chap XXX). Now clearly these Jews were not Christians like the Church Fathers, who saw a connection between Genesis 3:15 and Mary. Yet, they still could identify a woman as crushing the head of the serpent
"The veneration given to Mary in the Roman Catholic church is beyond what is warranted by the New Testament. In fact, it is astonishing how little we see of Mary in the New Testament....After she turns up with the disciples praying in the upper room in Acts 1:14, she is never mentioned again in the New Testament. This is astonishing to anyone who thinks that the veneration of Mary was an essential part of early church life. It was not important enough to be mentioned in any of the New Testament books after Acts....In fact, in the one place where Paul comes close to mentioning Mary, he chooses not to, and simply speaks of generic “woman”: “When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman” (Galatians 4:4)....And when she is mentioned in Acts 1:14, she is “Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.” This inclusion of the brothers has the effect of minimizing any emerging elevation of Mary as having significance only in being the mother of Jesus, rather than the mother of his brothers as well..... Mary is unique among all women in being a virgin when she gave birth to her firstborn son. Yet amazingly this fact-the virgin birth of Jesus by Mary-is never mentioned again in the New Testament....When Mary is referred to during the adult life of Jesus in the Gospels, she is not treated in a way that sets her apart in any unusual way. At the cross, for example, Matthew refers to her without even mentioning that she is Jesus’ mother: “There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee” (Matthew 27:55-56). Calling Jesus’ mother “the mother of James and Joseph” is striking. We know that this is Jesus’ mother because of Matthew 13:55, “Is not his mother called Mary? And are not his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?” “James and Joseph” are the sons in both Matthew 27:56 and 13:55. So Matthew refers to Mary without calling her the mother of Jesus, and a few verses later, he simply refers to her as “the other Mary” (27:61). Most striking of all is the way Jesus intentionally deflects a certain kind of honor from his mother. Once a woman in the crowd “raised her voice and said to him, ‘Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!’” But Jesus replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Luke 11:27-28). Jesus ranks obedience to the word of God above the special veneration of his mother. Similarly Jesus was once told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” But Jesus answered, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it” (Luke 8:20-21). Again Jesus ranks obedience above the standing of his mother. Mary was a magnificent person. 1. Her humility shines (“He has looked on the humble estate of his servant,” Luke 1:48). 2. Her faith was profound (“Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord,” Luke 1:45). 3. Her suffering was deep (“A sword will pierce through your own soul,” Luke 2:35). 4. Her God was sovereign (“He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones,” Luke 1:51-52). 5. And her meditations were full of truth (“Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart,” Luke 2:19). Therefore, remember her. Admire her. Bless her. Be inspired by her. But do not go beyond what the New Testament portrays....." John Piper
Help me out here, the main argument seems to be that “full of Grace” could mean immaculately conceived based off of how a Greek word is used in the book of Surach? But that passage in Surach is in the context of mankind achieving grace in general? Doesn’t that completely disprove the point? If all mankind can achieve this then it’s not anything unique to Mary. Everything in this episode after that point is based on this one very wobbly pivot point.
Oh and the rosary is a weapon!!! And it works. So many great chaplets in Catholic church....such a rich, intelligent and spectacular religion. TLM is absolutely brilliant.

"As God willed to humble himself in Mary through Christ, so does wish to humble you in Christ through Mary."
When I struggled with Mary as the teenage son of a devout Catholic mother and a Reformed Presbyterian Minister father, I would argue with my dear mother constantly, repeating the flat objections my father raised.
This is insightful and one of the points that brought me back to the faith
Very interesting insights. How often we want even the will of God, on occasion, to be determinant on us.
very nicely said. thanks!

That is a marvelous point! 🙏🏼❤
You are very right.
Insightful but he called Mary "woman" earlier at the wedding at Cana.

Grew up Protestant and attended public schools… I literally never heard the Catholic perspective until I attended RCIA… I went into my Catholic journey thinking the Immaculate Conception referred to Christ’s conception 🤦♂️🤣
Educate the public we have been heavily propagandized.
Bernadette at Lourdes stating, "I am the Immaculate Conception."
The Lady responded in the Bigourdane dialect, “Que soy era Immaculada Conceptiou,” which means, “I am the Immaculate Conception.”
This convinced the skeptical Parish Priest of Lourdes, l’Abbe Peyramale, that Bernadette’s visions were genuine.
@@mrscharmless The scriptures completely disagree with that opinion.
My wife thought the same. I only knew better because I spent about 18 months in college studying the Catechism with a priest.

Blessings

Virgin birth and eternal Hell are proven myths using the Bible. Paul says clearly that believing Christ was born that way is Antichrist.... just think about how evil these doctrines are.

William is one of the most knowledgeable people in the catholic scene. He works very hard to educate people.

Look for the interview with Scott Hahn. He explains his reasoning for Catholicism.

Yup, and while taking all this in consideretion and then reflecting: if the pride of the devil is to be crushed, how can it be done. In Athanasius’ On the Incarnation (circa 325), Ch. 2, para 8, he writes of Mary as a “spotless, stainless virgin” and a “pure body”. He then expands this thought, “He, the Mighty One, the Artificer of all, Himself prepared this body in the virgin as a temple for Himself, and took it for His very own, as the instrument through which He was known and in which He dwelt.”
These words suggest Athanasius’ belief in both the Immaculate Conception and Mary as the new Ark.
And yet the orthodox keep crying about the Immaculate Conception. I don't blame them though, they don't seem to be rational, the other they I heard one say the Pentarchy existed before Constantinople I

And a person's enemies will be those of his own household."
Thus, as a new spiritual family called the Church was emerging amidst such conflicts, Jesus compassionately spoke to an immediate concern.
For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Luke 11:27-28: "As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and blessed are the breasts that nursed You. But He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
Acts 1:12-14: "Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day’s walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers."
Notice that in the above list of earliest Disciples, Mary was mentioned only after the women who regularly followed Jesus and just before His previously unbelieving brothers.
A principle condemned by none other than Jesus: "You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition!"
Hence, all such historical realities clearly and intentionally warn us of the very subtle, yet powerful, ways in which "doctrines of demons" have been and can be introduced as if delivered by a Moses or the Apostles themselves.

Protestants downplaying Mary is probably why feminism gave rise to all the anti-Mary behaviors and ideals.
No, the bible sets the order for authorities of men and women over and over.
Gnostics worshipping Mary and placing an emphasis on the Divine Feminine is more likely it.

“After the martyrdom of James and the conquest of Jerusalem which immediately followed, it is said that those of the apostles and disciples of the Lord that were still living came together from all directions with those that were related to the Lord according to the flesh (for the majority of them also were still alive) to take counsel as to who was worthy to succeed James. They all with one consent pronounced Symeon, the son of Clopas, of whom the Gospel also makes mention; to be worthy of the episcopal throne of that parish. He was a cousin, as they say, of the Saviour. For Hegesippus records that Clopas was a brother of Joseph.”
Book 4 Chapter 22:4
“And after James the Just had suffered martyrdom, as the Lord had also on the same account, Symeon, the son of the Lord's uncle, Clopas, was appointed the next bishop. All proposed him as second bishop because he was a cousin of the Lord.”

I understand. Same

This channel is great! I’m sharing it with everyone in my family as we set around a binge Jimmy Akin’s Mysterious World on this cold winter day😊
I have prayed about this a lot, and then i read the chapter in Luke that goes, "blessed is the womb that birthed you!' And Jesus said to them, 'ya, rather more blessed is the one who hears the word of the father and obeys!" It clicked in my mind, Mary is blessed, to the point we should and do honor her today, but it is more important that we follow and obey the Father's word which is Jesus.
Remember when jesus was asked, "your mother and brothers seek you' and Jesus said to them, 'who is my mother and brothers? Look around you..."? Give Mary honor, but things like praying to her, Hail Marys', or asking her to intercede for you are where you go too far.
you literally said part of the hail Mary
Excellent discussion.
Regarding Genesis 3:15, it seem that it wasn´t so obvious even for some Jews. For example Philo of Alexandria acknowledges the masculine language in the Septuagint but nevertheless believes “he” refers to the woman:
"And the expression, ‘He shall watch thy head, and thou shalt watch his heel’ is, as to its language, a barbarism, but, as to the meaning which is conveyed by it, a correct expression. Why so? It ought to be expressed with respect to the woman: but the woman is not he, but she. What, then, are we to say?"
Philo then gives a convoluted explanation as to why he thinks the woman is referred to as “he.”

Maimonides was one of Judaism’s most brilliant thinkers. He comments:
Another noteworthy Midrashic remark of our Sages is the following: “The serpent had a rider, the rider was as big as a camel, and it was the rider that enticed Eve: this rider was Samael.” Samael is the name generally applied by our Sages to Satan. In describing how the serpent came to entice Eve, our sages say, “Samael was riding on it, and God was laughing at both the camel and its rider.”
It is especially of importance to notice that the serpent did not approach or address Adam, but all his attempts [approach, speech] were directed against Eve, and it was through her that the serpent caused injury and death to Adam.

Amazing talk, glory to christ!
