The earth does go round the moon, in a sense... the earth and moon orbit the point that is the barycenter of their mass. It just so happens that this point is located inside the earth.
@@brucetucker4847 That's not quite the same, is it? Earth 🌎 and the Moon 🌙 both orbit 💫 their common barycenter. The Moon actually goes around Earth, _but Earth does _*_not_*_ go around the Moon!_ 🤔 BTW, you can invoke Einstein's 🤓 Relativity and claim that since motion is relative, from the Moon's frame of reference, Earth orbits the Moon. 💡 Regardless, I don't think Sherlock Holmes' 🕵️♂️ reaction would be any different to this new piece of information. 🤣

@@nHans I’ve been a working mechanical engineer for about 50 years now. You are confusing “having something to say” with “being agitated”. There are several personality traits that emerge in career engineers. One is a very, very thick hide. Trust me, there is NOTHING that could possibly be written in the comments here that could generate the SLIGHTEST wiggle in my GIVE-A-SHIT-O-METER. I read your comment as “it isn’t important whether the earth is flat or spherical, because it doesn’t impact your world in any meaningful way.” If that’s an improper interpretation, I apologize. Over my career, I’ve helped “mature” about 3 generations of wet-behind-the-ears baby engineers, right out of college and knowing just enough to be dangerous to themselves & others, into pretty well-functioning real engineers. One of the first lessons is to distinguish fact from opinions. Real engineers don’t say, _”the 2+2 might be 4”_ or _”the world might be spherical.”_ They say _”2+2 IS 4”_ and _”The world IS spherical”_ and “any other answer is stupid & (worse) wrong.” I was reading your comment as _”The world might be spherical”_ and further that “the question doesn’t matter because it doesn’t impact my (ie., your) life.” If I misread your meaning, I apologize & feel free to clarify your intent. Stupidity is rampant in this world, and, especially in this topic. Further, if the stupid person is receptive & polite, the proper response to stupidity is an occasional explanation. Whereas, if the stupid person lacks either receptivity or politeness, then the proper response is “pointing fingers & ridicule”. But intelligent / competent people can’t let stupidity stand un-ridiculed. You choose how much effort you’re willing to spend, but your civic duty requires at least a small contribution.

@@timewaster0123 i think we’ve all pretty much bearen this dead horse into a giant puddle of horse juice. So this’ll be my last post in this thread. I don’t believe I’m not “innocent” in thee least. Way too much life experience for that. But I do choose to believe, until proven otherwise, that people. Are telling the truth. That does make me a bit of a sucker for people who simply come out & lie about things (like their credentials). Conspiracy theorists do this ALL THE F’KING TIME. For example, Andrew stated clearly in this video that he is an “adjunct professor of physics at some US university. This is just one of about 100 statements in this video that is wrong. Others have linterpreted the collection of inaccurate statements as ‘“satire”. I don’t see anything satirical about that statement. I see it as simply a lie. If he had appeared dressed as a 16th century schoolteacher, & dropped incessant Latin phrases, I would have viewed THAT as Satire. But he chose to do the whole thing “straight-laced”. I’ve got to admit that his method is much more effective than doing a Monty Python version. It will draw in lots more people. I point out that several people who posted here were taken in by his approach. I took a lot of heat because I wrote the longest objection to his statements. My advantage in content is that I’ve been fighting conspiracy theorists & their stupidity for some time now (in real life since the mid ‘70s, online, ever since 9/11), and I’ve got my arguments down. Plus I use an iPad & can dictate my responses, which makes it about 10x faster. One important point, which I do willingly concede, is that satire is art, and like ALL art, is surjective, meaning there is no “one right way” to do it it’s simply a matter of taste. (Some like classical music, some like country, some like opera, some like rap. We all have our preferences, but no style is “objectively better”. Andrew’s extremely “dry” approach is just as valid, and perhaps even more effective, than my preference for more overt clues that he’s not serious. My concern was that technically naive people would take it all seriously, f believe that he did actually represent a significant percent of trained physicists. I am a technically trained person & I did “take him seriously (in the sense i believed that he believed what he said), but I knew his assertions were garbage & that virtually ZERO real physicists believe the crap he spouted. One unexpected consequence of his style is that it got a bunch of people who agree with his POV (Ie., ANTI-Flat-Earthers) to fight squabble & call each other names. That wasn’t very productive.

The Moon actually goes around Earth, _but Earth does _*_not_*_ go around the Moon!_ 🤔
BTW, you can invoke Einstein's 🤓 Relativity and claim that since motion is relative, from the Moon's frame of reference, Earth orbits the Moon. 💡
Regardless, I don't think Sherlock Holmes' 🕵️♂️ reaction would be any different to this new piece of information. 🤣
@@nHans you do realize, I presume, that Sherlock is a FICTIONAL character, and in actuality had NO opinion on that or any matter, and that neither he, nor Sir Arthur were physicists or, more to the point, geodesists.
Still, you’re a f’king engineer, fer crissakes. Start acting like one, stop equivocating, state the CORRECT opinion, be intolerant of the WRONG opinion, & stop embarrassing MY profession.
@@teefkay2 Whoa. Calm down. Take a chill pill. I don't know what your profession is, but somebody is definitely embarrassing themselves. Hint: It's not me.
My friendly advice to you-not as an engineer, but as a concerned human being-is that you work on your anger issues, and avoid situations that can trigger them. Like UA-cam comments. Clearly, the level of sophistry and humor in this thread is beyond what your sensitive ego can comprehend, let alone handle.
Feel free to rejoin when you're feeling calmer.
Real engineers don’t say, _”the 2+2 might be 4”_ or _”the world might be spherical.”_
They say _”2+2 IS 4”_ and _”The world IS spherical”_ and “any other answer is stupid & (worse) wrong.”
I was reading your comment as _”The world might be spherical”_ and further that “the question doesn’t matter because it doesn’t impact my (ie., your) life.” If I misread your meaning, I apologize & feel free to clarify your intent.

It's been ages since I first saw this video and went through the comments. Thank you.
No offense but i find it cute that u r so innocent 🥺
@@teefkay2 i don't mean to be that guy but he is a physics grad student and I don't think that anyone that is a grad student would be dumb enough to believe that earth is flat?
The only thing I am shocked by is how accurate he is in his impression of FEs.
@@teefkay2 Everything you’ve said is just as meaningless as the video. There are bigger problems in the world than a joke you didn’t find funny and the implications that it would mislead people. The fact is you were the one misled but not by how you thought it would.
