I love the offshore lighthouses but, man would I get cabin fever quick.
The small rooms are so confining.
Even with modern conveniences like internet and TV, I'd still feel isolated.
I can't imagine a hundred years ago. Those early keepers especially were a rugged bunch.

Thank you, Peter, a lovely video of the Longships and Pendeen. My father and paternal grandfather both served 2 terms on the Longships. My grandfather 1917-19 as AK and PK 1933-35. My father 1944-48 and 1953-57. I wrote an article about Ted Barns in the Association Lighthouse Keepers quarterly Magazine Flash number 111, and have just written another about the “Old Man” which is due to appear in next month's magazine. My maternal grandfather was at Pendeen from 1907 to 1914 and my father was there in 1939 as a SAK. Thanks for the memories.
My dad was on wolf and longships pendeen and st antony late 40s early 50s

A great insight into the everyday lives of keepers. I've often thought I'd love to live in a lighthouse but when i hear some of the stories it makes me think twice.
