- The new FK8 Civic Type R is an amazing machine and one that's well sought after by many if not most Honda enthusiasts. It handles amazingly well, comes with some pretty amazing options from the factory including an optional dry carbon lip kit that in my opinion, accents the car amazingly.
My only complaint (if you could even call it that) is that the car is relatively quiet from the factory. Now, I want to be clear here... The way the exhaust sounds is great. I don't have a problem with the sound that the exhaust makes, it's just simply not loud enough for me personally!

My goodness the greddy gave me some serious chills
I have had the AWE touring for around 8 months, believe me it sounds much better in person than on video. Also it doesn't really get loud unless you are in the upper rpms, so it is great for daily use!
Videos never quite do them justice do they....

@@pedrorivera2308 you will be very happy with it. But keep in mind that if you decide to change out your downpipe it will get much louder.

Got my AWE Touring form you guys earlier in the year. Def even better in person especially after break in. Pops and tones are great especially at redline or around 4k. Also just did a 6 hour roundtrip drive. No drone issues at all. Thanks for the quick shipping!
AWE tuning exhaust is the best, I saw one on the highway and dropped shift to 4th then popped popped sounds so nice.

I have been running the AWE system for two years and I can see why its your favorite! It's perfect. It's loud when you pin it but I can talk on the phone no problem when cruising. There's really zero drone as advertised and it was super easy to install (I did make an adjustment after watching the video they put out). Make sure you get the one with their "dual phase" because the one without it was too raspy for me, but when I added the dual phase it's magic and i just looked and now they have an option to buy that version from the jump. It's the same combo that HondaPro Jason was running and I saw him and fell in love with the system. I also run AWE on my gladiator and before that my F150. Good USA made stuff.
Do you hear still loud inside the car ? Long trips become annoying because of the sound ?

I had the aFe Power exhaust and damn did it drone badly! To replace it I ordered the HKS Spec L exhaust from MAP and was happy to see it made the list as I think it gets overlooked.
I love it alot more than the aFe Power exhaust and the car seems to as well!

I think you should note, as per our communications, that if you want to pair it with a 3" downpipe, the Greddy will cost far more as you must purchase their 3" mid-pipe and a3" front pipe, as it comes with neither. You'll also have an extra 2"to 3" pipe trip hang as a decoration.
I currently have the AWE suite and the low drone is only with the factory downpipe. If paired with a downpipe (I have the RV6 high flow cat installed) the AWE has horrible drone and you need to add the extra resonator section up front. The only issue with that is that my car is dropped an inch on Swift springs and I have barely 2" of ground clearance. It hits ever speed bump, curbs entering driveways, etc.
There's more to some of these stories. Excellent video. Thank you for the examples. Personally, I wish I'd bought the invidia.

Loved the AWE. Sounds amazing and looks right. Would consider this for my '18 FK8. I daily mine, so no drone is a must. I think the triple exhaust looks right.

Tomei is the best sounding. It has all the right sounds at all rpm range. I have one I put on my R when I got to the Dragon or spirited driving in the mtn. But I a stock exhaust, daily.

I’m running Borla right now on mine. Best clips I’ve heard so far are from the 27Won FK8 exhaust, especially with an aftermarket DP. Good stuff.

Best exhaust for the FK8 hands down 👍🏼. No drone due to the Helmholtz design. Had the Tomei Spec D for 1 week. Drones like crazy and loud af with that rasp that I hate even with the silencers installed. Forget about running it with a catless dp or without the silencers.
I have the Invidia R400 & honestly the low end growl is amazing. The clip in this video doesn’t do any justice. I do travel a lot & that drone definitely is there between 2500-3000 rpm’s. Love it but definitely wanna do something about that drone. Any suggestions?
You could add another resonator or muffler!

Funny I went from a civic si to rcf to a type r I got for msrp in October. I was missing the manual! I will say the awe touring sounds great on the type r!

Not a chance. I’ve been searching for an AWE touring vid with a catless DP. None. Most Type R owners seem scared to go catless cause then a tune is required.
tbh I wish the newer type r's also had the 2x2 pipes like the 2016 version had.
I have the tomei dual tips. Guys, it’s louder in person. Drone is insane at 3-4.5rpms. I love it though. Gives the car the presence it deserves and coming from an 8th gen civic with a skunk2 exhaust. I have a sound clip of the tomei in my channel
I have the Greddy Sp Supreme. Its loud with a downpipe, so I added a resonator in the middle of it. But I have a sport hatchback not a type r. Type r exhaust with fit the sport hatchback with very little mod.

Invidia R400 sounds like the One for me but they all Sound incredible like that Greddy for the price and sound not Bad but the Invidia is the sweet spot
Invidia is the clear winner. It’s very similar to the Magnaflow exhaust.

That R400 Exhaust driving clip took place in Turnbull Canyon.
In my humble opinion the in house ti resonated exhaust from rampage fabrication is the best.

No they have different builds, had an 18 sport hatch with the Greddy sp exhaust and loved it it is a little quiet though without the catless dp

I believe it does fit on. But if you’re purchasing it new they should have the option when purchasing it if it’s for the type r or the sport hatch.
They won't fit unfortunately, your issue will be with the downpipe fitment especially if they come with a front pipe (like AWE). Also the center opening for the bumper is not be wide enough. Unless you plan on working with someone force it to work (not recommended) HKS and Remark have good options for the Sport Hatch.

The HKS clip is obviously just catback as i have that exhaust with an HKS catless downpipe and its freaken loud .

I am running the BoostLogic full Titanium system with the exhaust valve in it. Build quality is top notch, weight is ridiculously low, and price is good for full titanium... you should check them out.

hey bro im looking for an exhaust for my type r, have you ever had any problems after installing yours? such as engine codes etc? also did you need a tune to make sure the car still ran fine or is it really just plug and play?

@@xypper7527 I had no issues with the engine and no tune. only really need a tune when replacing the cats on turbo cars. a tune would help add some power with the exhaust but not needed. the only issue i had was when it was cold the massive front over pipe hit a part of the steering rack and made some noise. wasnt a big issue at all though ant not surprising seeing the small area that pipe has to fit in.

Im assuming you're asking how to make it louder? Aside from modifying the catback itself, the only other things would be a high flow downpipe and a frontpipe. Both of which we manufacture here and would pair well with that catback, making it a bit louder!
I have the awe track on mine and it is definitely a little annoying but I got it for a really good price.

A little sad to not see Borla ATAK on the list. It's hard to record the sound it makes. Sounds very lively in person and any videos online doesn't do any justice to the sound.
The AWE is PERFECT
Awe sounds like a jetski. Anyway, which one produces more on the Dyno. That’s what I want to know. That’s how old timers like me used to pick our parts.
None of these will make significantly more power than the others. Just pick which one you think sounds best!
I just installed the Tomei expreme type R and holy crap is it loud. Like being on a liter bike without a helmet. Weighs like nothing though.
I got the awe touring edition and had it for three days. It literally made my whole car vibrate so much around 3200 it felt like it was going to fall apart. Got rid of that day three and replaced it for the invidia r 400. Sounds wayyy better and no drone. Better build quality and welds as well.
Love my Invidia on my Prelude, I think The Tomei and ArmyTrix would be other choices
