    Thank you. I successfully fixed my Troy-Bilt. It would not start before cleaning the carburetor. This is a pretty easy setup to work on, but I could have never broke down the carburetor and reassembled without the help of this video.

    EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT VIDEO! I have this exact mower and it “died’ on me over the weekend after experiencing the engine “surging” condition. I picked up a can of carburetor cleaner and within about ½ hour (I was taking my time and didn’t want to screw anything up!), I was up and running!
    In the course of my troubleshooting and watching numerous videos, I have also purchased (and treated) my fresh gas with an ethanol fuel add-in. A friend of mine had told me that he only uses leaded (non-ethanol) gas in his mower and other outdoor equipment because of the havoc ethanol gas can wreak on these engines. The product I used was “Sta-Bil 360 Protection”.

    • @smallengineguys

      Be careful additives are known to dryrot fuel lines. Non ethanol fuel fresh everytime you use it is best.

    Awesome video! So, so simple. Thanks. I have the same engine on my lawn mower; a Briggs & stratton 625EX. The lawn mower starts then dies within 1-3 minutes. I have already cleaned the carburetor, fuel lines, jets, put new gas but have not replaced the air filter yet. The issue continues to happen. Your thoughts.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  4 роки тому

      Its that little jet on that white peace in the carb. It has to be perfectly clean or it wont work. Also there is a small round peace inside the carb that falls out sometimes. When you take the peaace that holds the jet out it will fall out of the mouth of the carb. Its about as big around as your thumb. Sometimes its whit like the orafice tube sometimes its black. The orrafice tube which has the jet in it holds it in place.

  • @rrassoc
    @rrassoc 2 роки тому

    I replaced my carb with a new one, which didn't have the rotating part that the front linkage attaches to. I finally popped the old one off, but it doesn't want to stay attached to the new carb. Not sure what to do about this. Sigh.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  2 роки тому

      The choke linkage? There are 2 types. 1 is auto choke. Other is primerbulb. You have to get the right carb.

    • @rrassoc
      @rrassoc 2 роки тому

      @@smallengineguys It's an auto-choke. They look identical when the toggle the linkage attaches to is removed. The old piece slides on to the new xarb where it was on the old one. It just isn't staying, e.g., not snapping or clipping on. Weird. I feel like I'm going to need a new part.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  2 роки тому

      replace the whole setup from the old one to the new. grab round brass plate (butterfly valve) with pliers and pull straight out. the whole linkage comes out the top of carb
