you can see Stanley is really enjoying this groove..something different that he can sink his teeth into...of course pickin w/ the great Chet ain't a bad gig.
These two set an almost impossible standard for guitar players. Man I love both of these guys so much. It's like having four players on the bandstand at the same time!
That wasn't his Gretsch. Chet endorsed Gibson in his last year's, and Gibson used the names, Country Gentleman and Tennesse Rose, I think until Chet's death.
No me canso de escuchar ésta versión a un gran éxito del Rey , cómo me hubiera gustado conocerla antes para ponérsela a mi padre el día que falleció; el día que yo muera voy a querer que la pongan en mi funeral
Stanley can out pick most pickers when he is grinning. When his smile goes away and he starts jumping and his head looks like it mighy come loose, you had better buckle your seatbelt because he is going to lay down some unbelievable jazz tracks.
@DUGGER1947 It sure did look like his old red Gretsch. I haven't gotten good enough at being able to pick out what guitar is being used yet LOL! My personal favorite album of Chet's is Caribbean Guitar. That was the album I played to death as a kid. I finally snagged a superb vinyl copy a couple months ago and have since converted to MP3. It was so good to hear those tracks again.
@AgentZeroForTheWin Country & Rockabilly have similar roots, the jazz i can see what you're sayin' hell Stanley is up for anything its all fun for him and a good groove is a good groove.he can see why its so much fun to play that style, country pickin, chicken picken, rockabilly, that sounds like how Lynyrd Skynryd got started.
No, Chet was RCA VP in Nashville for decades, he knew what was happening and who wrote the songs. Kind of like saying “I’m going to sing a Bing Crosby tune before White Christmas.
It's not his fault his volume is so low. His two hand technique requires volume and when you can hear it it is amazing. Jordan is a genius who took Chet's finger picking technique and expanded on it with the advancement of technology to develop the two hand technique, which is not a gimmick, but rather an advanced and beautiful technique.

Music Lads!! Just great music made by great human beings! Its what this world needs more of, Every man should have a guitar instead of a gun!
Two greats together! Never heard Chet attempt to sing. A guitar fest for the ears!
There'll be some changes made, with Mark Knopfler.

WOW! Stanley kept up with Chet Atkins for sure! Fantastic job!
Chet was the best country picker ever. Have about 15 of his albums. All top grade stuff.
That was outstanding!!
Ils sont très forts ces guitaristes, j'adore.
Brilliant guitar, old and new.....quality
don't forget RIP paul yandell, the other absolutely amazing player sitting in the background. :)
Saw Stanley Jordan on the Tonight Show he was amazing!!!!
i get such a great feeling from watching this....two guitar players who dazzle you, they play so well, it's such an inspiration
That Stanley is fun to watch. He really enjoys his art. And he's great at it.
That's one hell of a combo.
Just amazing players..wow!
Chet always embraced new talents and wanted to help them in their careers.
Muito bom ..
Ahh I love to hear Chet pick on the big old red Gretsch! Thanks for posting these they're fabulous together.

Super reprise d'Elvis Presley alors là franchement vraiment les vertus aux gens bravo
Sweet!!!
Wonderful, thank's a lot.

That is one snappy drummer.
no way ...its fantastic
The bass player is tearing it up.
ブライアンセッツァーや、アルバートリー達のミステリートレインも、良かったけど、
大御所のギャロッピンギター最高ですね❗
A treasure..
Chet Atkins, guitarrista de estilo único e incomparável. maneco - RS - Brasil.
Sensacional!!! Mandam bem demais!

2 féras da guitarra ..brasil
Fenômenos dos instrumentos, inimitáveis. maneco - Brasil.
great
cool!
What a picker! I put him at the top technically with Joe Pass and Barney Kessel. All fantastic - all different styles.
Kevin Webb Paul Yandell
I'm on a UA-cam musical mystery tour-that was magical.
Watching these two makes me want to give up trying to play the guitar.
I never know Dion Sanders was such an awesome guitar player.

jeah boi
@blueagate Actually, (while I love the big old red Gretsch myself) the guitar in this video was made by Gibson.
Seven people don't like this?!
Wish I knew what Chet had forgotten! Is this his country gentleman guitar??? Anyone...
Made by Gibson.
Look I know I will cop some flack for this but I find Stanley Jordan as fun as getting your teeth pulled!!
I heard that Jordan tunes his guitar in standard except the high E is F.
Is it possible Chet really didn't know this is a Junior Parker song which Elvis covered?
+MaabudZ Apparently he didn't...
Maybe he didn’t care or didn’t think it was important at the time. Elvis had a hit with it.
Anyone who has heard the Junior Parker original knows that it's an entirely different (and inferior) song.
No, Chet was RCA VP in Nashville for decades, he knew what was happening and who wrote the songs.
Kind of like saying “I’m going to sing a Bing Crosby tune before White Christmas.
kudos to the unknown bassist
Thats Johnny Johnson, a Nashville A list bassist working with Chet.
Great guitar playin` but check out that bass player......funky!!
Might be Dave Pomeroy...
Never heard of Stanley Jordan but wow what a picker
Junior parker no shade on the king
Is that a Vigier guitar?
@pacerkate You probably hated getting caught in the middle between two dear friends like that.
where's Carl?
ace frehley blows both these dudes clean offstage
never heard of him.
No way, Ce Ce DeVille does!
You ARE as nutty as you look!
So angry
ELVIS PRESTLY MY ASS. RIP JUNIOR PARKER
Jasper J Wood it is known more as a hit Elvis had. Not the first time a cover was more popular than the original and won't be the last! Chill!
Poor Stanley Jordan. It sounded like he had never heard the song before.
He’s was still excellent
Stanley, unfortunately, is a one trick pony. Listen to him play keyboards and guitar. Indistinguishable! The guitar looses its identity. (imho)
Shut up idiot!!! You wish you was half that good!
jordan is terrible no balls tone or dynamics…he had his 15 seconds gimmicks
It's not his fault his volume is so low. His two hand technique requires volume and when you can hear it it is amazing. It amazing how an unknown no talent hack can talk about someone with talent.
@@andrewmiller5610 exactly!
Don't get me wrong i respect Stanley, but he kinda ruined the song.
Why?
He’s didn’t ruin the song idiot!!!
