Excellent point. I was astounded when I did the math and realized how young he was. In an interview he said he was 16 when he toured the UK with the Rolling Stones in 1966. This means he was 18 when he toured with Cream in 1968, and 19 in 1969 when he toured the US with the Rolling Stones. Teen prodigy.
I saw Terry Reid for the very first time open for Cream at Madison Square Garden in 1968. I was so impressed & told all of my friends about him. He was truly great! My best friend who was a lead singer & guitarist for his band fell in love with his music & started performing some of his songs. I still play “Without Expression” all of the time.🎸🎤👍🏻
My experience was similar to yours. I saw him open for the Rolling Stones in 1969 and was blown away by his music. Terry keeps his fans long-term, doesn't he! There is much more Terry on my UA-cam Page, check it out.
I got to know the drummer, Keith Webb, when he still lived in Stafford in the UK where I currently live where we chatted, drank, smoked and played records he featured on through the night, Flamboyant here whilst in person he was modest and extremely enthusiastic about his time as part of Terry Reid's band. Sadly Keith passed on in 2007 in sunny Spain and I saw his last gig in the UK before he left at a little known pub known as The Crown in Aston near Stone where I lived at the time. Keith used to play drums for open microphone sessions on a Sunday in a pub in Stafford, The Nag's Head, way back in the eighties that was run by his family. Keith's drumming background was jazz so he was more than qualified to do a lot more than you see and hear here and it's worth checking out what he did with his band, Paladin with Peter Solley who is featured here on Hammond.
What! How amazing! Thank you for sharing your experiences with the great Keith Webb. In the few pieces I've listened to him on, he is rock steady all the way. I'm happy to hear that he spoke well of playing with Terry and company. I have vague memories of him onstage in 1969 when they opened for the Rolling Stones in Boston. I did wonder what broke the band apart, as the four of them put out a great sound. If you scroll down on this page, Keith's brother Julian Webb has commented here, with a bit of a conversation that followed about Keith's jazz career.
@@dianestrauss9699 Thanks for that and here's a nice juicy bit of trivia I got from Keith himself. As I was looking through his record collection I noticed he had The Fast lady film theme tune amongst his collection on 45 which was a Norrie Paramor composition and featured his orchestra on so I asked Keith about it and he told me there and then that this was the very first recording that Keith was featured on. Look up the film The Fast lady that starred Stanley Baxter and Julie Christie, amongst others.
@@blossie33 So sad to learn this and thanks for the update. Terry would be upset to learn this too because of his original band that supported The Rolling Stones on their first tour he's the only member alive but Lee Miles joined them later and Lee still looks healthy as does Terry.
When both Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple want you to front them, you know you've really got something great going on, and this vid proves it! Just imagine what either one of those bands would've sounded like with Reid singing...🎤🎸👊🔥
@@centrasseptyni8277 In the case of Led Zeppelin, Page actually wanted a 2nd guitar in the band; but with Deep Purple, Blackmore was adamant from the get-go that he didn't want another guitarist, Reid would've sang only.
Glad you enjoyed it! You also saw the Superlungs upload from the same show? There must be more film and video out there, languishing in storage, from his many performances through the years. Wish I knew who to pursue or what vaults to contact.
@@GoodGigsVids I was looking for an audio recording from Boston 1969, where I first saw him. I connected with a collector in Maine, who sent me Boston's audio plus this wonderful two-song video on DVD.
I prefer Terry Reid to Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. No, he didn’t go on to the same success as them. But imo he’s a better quality then those bands, as great as they are. Just my opinion.
Thanks Diane, I have not seen these before, they're great. I know Terry & his mother, I'm sure they would love to see these, you did well on stage with your camera 🎥😀
