I LOVE YOU GUYS! 😘
Van Williams is the most under-rated drummer of all time. The guy is amazing, and just makes everything fit so perfectly.
I completely agree! It drives me mad as people say he's not technical all the time in response to these comments. He absolutely is, but his feel and grooves are stunning - just listen to the breakdown section in The Politics of Ecstasy, or how groovy his ride work is in Next in Line's "I'm next in line" sections.
Van is a monster. One of the best, most creative, most versatile drummers in metal.
As for underrated, he's only the 2nd most underrated, as the top spot should go to Steve Jacobs, who played with Forbidden on their Distortion and Green albums. That man is just insane.
Jeff Loomis is the guitar player and i have been saying for years that he is one or the best modern metal guitarist
if not the best. Nevermore was so underrated as a band, it is sad. The musicianship, songwriting and just general artistic merit of everything they did was legendary and yet hardly enough people gave a fuck about them at their peak.
Ditto brother!!!
betadevb let me explain it in a different way. You know, Jeff wrote nearly (but not)all of the songs himself so if you wanna see how talented he is, take the guitar and try to write a song in the way jeff does. Just wanted to say :d
shred like Loomis its sad to not see him write with Arch Enemy. There will never be a band like Nevermore ever again. Ill say it again, they were the best band no one paid attention too.😞
Not write.
Warrell was an underrated lyricist as well.
Nevermore to feel the pain
The heart collector sang
And I won't be feeling hollow for so long
Nevermore to feel the pain
The words fall out like fire
just believe when you can't believe anymore (from the Heart Collector off their other masterpiece Dead Heart in a Dead World)
Probably the best lyricist in metal.
My Acid Words, A Future Uncertain, Psalm of Lydia , Dreaming Neon Black, The River Dragon Has Come...on and on
Thank you for doing this!!!! They are my favorite band ever. I'm still sad.
every Dec 13th my day sucks :(
@@Selkirk69 December 13th, the day that metal died. First Chuck, then Warrel.. a sad day indeed.
I freaking love this band...highly underrated...everything they put out was excellent imo
The River Dragon Has Come is also another masterpiece from them...the solo is phenomenal
Patrick Mills I think River Dragon is my personal favorite song of Nevermore’s. I think.
Thank you, Finally! Nevermore is such an underrated, legendary American metal band! Warrel Dane's legacy must live on.
Criminally underrated! Warrel Dane words cannot describe the influence this man has had on me...vocally and lyrically...true artist and this band and his prior Sanctuary are great...RIP sir your legacy is awe inspiring...Thank you for the abundance of music...
This!
Best Nevermore album in my opinion.
100% agree
The awe and pure enjoyment that your face shows says it all. I'm willing to bet that you have savored all of their work, since🤘🤘
RIP vocalist Warrel Dane
.. sometimes she whispers in my ear, "there's nothing to be afraid of" , sometimes she moves the chairs downstairs... Rip Warrel Dane...! Nevermore for life
I remember seeing Nevermore in 1999 at a small club in San Francisco - they were touring with Iced Earth (the band I really went to see) and I was impressed with them - at that time they were part of Century Media, the company from which many Nuclear Blast Records companies came from. I lost track of them for over 10 years, but still, I'm sad to hear that Warrel Dane passed away.
RIP Warrel Dane, No other frontman has put so much emotion and pain into their vocals and lyris. You will be missed.
I'd love to see a reaction of the Heart Collector by Nevermore to.
It's one of their more melodic pieces.
Nevermore's poetry was many-fold; compositional, lyrical and instrumental. Another talented musician taken from us, to sleep and dream in the neon black gloom. May he find peace and see her face again.
I saw you mouth “oh my god” the moment he hit those sweep arpeggios. I saw your goosebumps.
That, in essence, is NEVERMORE
I could watch Loomis sweep all-day.
Nevermore is an awesome band!! Great song!!
I stand corrected this is a Damn good song (R.I.P WARREL ) :(
Warrel Dane kinda had the golden touch... Nevermore was his most famous band but he also did Sanctuary which was much more Raw.. and then his solo album which was a clinic in Vocals
This song is so good that I always have to cry when I hear these riffs combined with one of the best voices in metal. I was really shocked about this news. =(
I wasn't familiar with Nevermore but I had heard the singer passed last week and had been meaning to check them out. You're so right about it being a shame that someone has to die for people to get the recognition they deserve. Like you said, I wish I had discovered them sooner. Thanks for doing this song, they're awesome!
I kept telling all these reactors to check them out. Pink and Rubin finally do and then Warrel passes. I always say these guys and Kings X are the best bands you never heard.
The entire 'Godless Endeavor' and 'Dead Heart in a Dead World' are pretty much flawless albums. You can't go wrong with any Nevermore really, Dane on vocals (a true poet) and Loomis on guitar is one of the greatest duos in metal history. Insane live too. Staggering loss. You'd love 'The Heart Collector' by them.
even Politics of Ecstacy? i didn't like 1 single song on that album.
I'd agree it's probably my least favourite of theirs, but there's a few songs that are great, that showcase Danes lyrics and the potential in the playing of Loomis. When that landed in 1996 it was so different to any other 'mainstream' metal that it stood out. I can still jam 'Seven Tongues of God', 'This Sacrament', 'Next in Line', the title track and 'The Learning' and have a blast. Granted, some of the supporting songs aren't up to those ones but it's still got a lot going for it. Appreciate your view though, the last four albums by them especially are pretty flawless in my eyes and far superior to PoE.
Sean Taylor I kind of consider Obsidian Conspiracy as a flawless, play-thru-able album. 😬
And Dead Heart in a Dead World is my personal favorite.
My heart feels actual pain that we’ll never have Jeff and Warrel together again.
Absolutely. I was planning on seeing them on that tour with Symphony X (which as a guitar player would have blown my face off), but they split up during it. I was so gutted, but always felt it's ok they will one day get back together, time heals right? Finding out Warrel had passed absolutely crushed that hope.
Sean Taylor
I saw them in 2010 before they broke up, but it was a weird situation where I had a super-recent head injury and amnesia of that night. (I declined going to the hospital because I had to see Nevermore!) So I don’t remember them playing on stage at all which is really fucking unfortunate. I do have my pictures with the band members after the show, and autographs. But the thing I am missing is the memory of them playing live together, in front of me.
So I really was holding out hope for a reunion, because Nevermore has meant so much to me over the years, and I felt like Jeff and Warrel belonged together. 👨❤️👨
So it is sad... and selfish... for me to wish for what *could have* been.
Im still mesmerized how true you are with ur face exoressions...that is how true metalheads react with feeling to a metal song
Awww shit. Gotta check out their cover of "Sound of Silence". Absolutely nothing like Disturbed.
to me the best cover they did is "the Crystal ships" , so gooooood!!!
Check out the River Dragon while at it: ua-cam.com/video/am4SzXhbXZU/v-deo.html
Radkon Psygami - Yes! Anything from "Dead Heart In a Dead World" would be great!
That song has the heaviest riffs EVER!
That cover is pretty bad actually first time I heard it I was like "why did they think this was a good idea?". Imo. The cover of Silent Hedges and Crystal Ship are pretty damn good though.
Glad you did this one. RIP Warrel. One of my all time favorite bands and singers.
Nevermore (and Jeff Loomis in particular) is amazing. One of my favorite artists of all time. Check out more from Jeff, he may be the best guitarist of this age.
It's sad when it takes a now dead singer to discover an very underrated band who I had the privilege to see on their last tour and admire their music for years for this now to be on the Forefront makes me so sad but happy to enjoy the triumph of the band called Nevermore in 2017! RIP WARREL
As a guy coming from RnB, Soul, HipHop, Rap who had a smooth transition to metal through Linkin Park. I can truly say that Nevermore is the absolute best of the best that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. So glad I got to see them live even if it was only one time. The band broke up a few years later and now Warrel passed away :( I'd hoped that there would've been a reunion somewhere down the road.
One of the greatest bands, “The river dragon comes “ another absolute classic
I love love the reactions to this song. Every person reacting to this from the "crazy frenetic riff" midway through the song through the arpeggio storm near the end has the best "holy fuckin shit" faces.
I used to run in the same circle as these guys. Not just phenomenal musicians, but well respected as just being good guys.
Fun fact: It's not a coincidence you brought up the opera comment, as Warrel Dane trained for 5 years as an opera singer early in his career.
Don't forget Van or Jim..Van is one hell of a drummer never overplays a song but never backs off when it calls for it.
The lineup for this song was Warrel Dane, Jeff Loomis, Van Williams and Steve Smyth. Arrington was only around briefly was Nevermore was first created, Van took over drums almost immediately.
It's double-edged sword. It's great that now many more people will know about Nevermore and how great Warrel is,
but it sucks that they all couldn't know abut him during his life. We'll miss you, Mr. Dane, but you will never be forgotten.
Mr Dane was 56 at the time of his passing and not 48 as was reported. He studied opera for 5 yrs as well. He was a natural Baritone. He had much more falsetto in his earlier Sanctuary days. Especially on their debut Refuge Denied.
I was going ape shit crazy. I love this song and band. I wanted to watch your reaction but I dropped my phone and had to sing along.
The most underrated metal band!!!
me personally love this one song --- NEVERMORE - Seven Tongues of God 1996
in this year i was playing PC game Duke Nukem & listen to this album , i was really scared hhhhhhhhh
When she talked about transitions i thought I was watching Lost In Vegas...
I'm glad you said that, I always felt guilty listening to George & Ryan, thinking that I was cheating on you. Or maybe I was cheating on them when listening to your reactions. Either way, always great reactions!
Got to Patreon for that, Pay To Play.
Seamless transitions is right!!! Nevermore were fucking awesome!!!
Oh also, if you ever get the chance, check out their song Dreaming Neon Black.
The song and the whole album with this song on it is a concept album.
It is a true story about Warrel's ex girlfriend who ran away and joined a cult.
he never saw her again. Years later he learned that she had drowned in a river.
It is so powerful, dark, sad and beautiful.
Anyway thank you for this reaction and for acknowledging one of the most talented and
underrated bands of all time.
RIP warrel, one of the greatestmetal singers...
Those lyrics always give me chills. Warrel Dane will be sorely missed. I was fortunate enough to see them on their last your before Nevermore broke up. Warrel has a solo album that's really emotional.
Fun fact: Pat O'brien (guitar player in Cannibal Corpse) played in Nevermore before he joined Cannibal Corpse.
RIP Warrell this makes me so sad..Played on same bill with with Nevermore @ Bang Your Head festival in Germany in 2002.
Warrel Dane has formed the band Sanctuary in the middle 80's. They released two incredible albums. In these albums you can hear how incredilbe was the range of his voice. When they split up, Warrel with Jim Sheppard (the bass player of Sanctuary) and the master guitarist and composer Jeff Loomis, formed Nevermore. Nevermore was in my opinion the best heavy metal band from the day they were born 'til today. Warrel was an authentic artist (genius lyricist, magnificent performer and he had a blessed voice). You should check out the song ''Sentient 6'' (live video) to realize what the word true artist means.
WOW!! just heard about Warrel he will be missed such a great vocal talent and lyricist R.I.P.
The metal has lost a great friend and brothers...
No more time...no more conspiracy...thx for your Art..
R.I.P. WARREL God bless you
Fans forever TECHROME channel
Great techrome
Yesssssss techrome...
WARREL Lives through his music,RIP WARRELL
There were SO many Nevermore, Sanctuary and songs from his solo album, "Praises to the War Machine" record that were awesome! Warrel Dane was such an amazing talent that I'll be bummed for a long time at his passing. Sanctuary were also a great band from the 80's that were great. They reformed and released a record in 2014. Check out "Into the Mirror Black from '89 by them. Such a forward thinking thinking man's metal band Sanctuary and Nevermore were. He was one of the greatest Lyricists in all of metal.
I love your take on this song - One of my favorites. I have a friend that would melt watching you lol. NEVERMORE is top tier, without question.
I just realized Warrel died a week before this. RIP Warrel.
Even in my music Heavy Metal, it's worth being good to sing. It was Warrel Dane's exemple, I fall for Warrel Dane's way of singing in, Sanctuary Future Tense video on MTV from 1992. Is a big fan of everything he has made, Sanctuary - Nevermore and Warrel Dane solo. Warrel Dane was in a boy's choir and had completed five years of opera education.
Brilliant brilliant band
This album is a masterpiece. RIP Warrell.
guitar is jeff loomis. him and warrel composed all the music.
Nick Granet actually Steve Smyth, Curran Murphy, Tim Calvert all had contributed songs to many albums, which if you research credits, you'd be shocked which songs they are responsible for.
i was speaking on behalf of an interview with jeff, and now i see that i said all, and he did state it was most of the music. the were the main song writers for nevermore. Thanks, ill have to do some research. guess im curious about chris broderick as well.
Unfortunately Broderick never recorded with Nevermore. He was only a touring guitarist.
Woah, R.I.P. Warrel, Nevermore Rules, by the way I get stuck in my request, Fear Factory - Linchpin xD
"Zero Signal" should be reacted to before that one...it was in the Mortal Kombat movie...
Zero Signal is great too, also Self Bias Resistor, but Linchpin have something special
Im a fan of Self Bias Resistor myself... That whole album has a cool vibe.
R.I.P Warrel... gone too soon.
Warrel Dane was the only singer and yes he was classically trained. Him dying was perhaps the worst thing to happen to music in 20 years easy.
Yes, many great vocalists have been taught, trained, schooled, whatever you may call it. The vocalists have a lot of talent, however it does take practice and dedication to make vocals sound great.
I like your video's by the way. Keep it up!!
Can't freaking wait holy ish lolz!!
Jeff loomis was the one doing those insane solos
Derbixrace. Not only Jeff but Steve Smyth as well. Steve also played on this record.
Boo C. Jeff make these solos dude
Hes talking about the solos on this song
His solo albums are sick!
Wow, what a great song. R.I.P. Warrel Dane...
I have the NM pentagram tattooed on my leg. listened to em since middle school. Its cool to watch you get into it. kinda crying over here
Warrel's vocal coach also coached Geoff Tate from Queesryche as well as Ann Wilson of Heart, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Don Dokken, and one of the Metal Church singers...
Love your reaction to a great band!
Jeff Loomis is easily a top 5 metal guitarist of all time. Such an underrated band! R.I.P. Warrel Dane!
If you like the guitar player, Jeff Loomis, you can check him out now with Arch Enemy. Tim Calvert was a member of Nevermore a long time ago - before they gained international notoriety. The drummer, Van Williams, is absolutely ridiculous as you found out. Warrel Dane was one of my favorite vocalists...no screw that...he still is.
Tim Calvert is now an airline pilot, but he was an amazing shredder as well. Check out "Forbidden - Twisted Into Form" Tim plays amazing solos on it.
Riff Majestic - My buddy who is a pretty good lead player used to exchange emails with Tim on some of the things he did in Nevermore. He was pretty open to answering almost any question and routinely gave him tips. Pretty nice guy all around.
HUGE Forbidden fan, my fave Thrash band. Tim though, only appeared on 1 Nevermore album "Dreaming Neon Black", and I was lucky enough to see that tour too. He actually remembered seeing me on Forbidden's "Distortion" tour :).
Steve Smythe was the 2nd Lead Guitarist on this album. Missing you a great deal Warrel, rest in peace.
I think Van Williams is the most underrated drummer. He has such amazing style that I love.
And now Tim is gone. :(
i love this song, and am having fun watching you enjoy it.
The first time I heard Warrel Dane it was New Years Eve of '89. Someone put a tape of 'Sanctuary: Refuge Denied' in, and the first song that played was 'Battle Angels." I'll never forget it. I highly recommend that you check out that song if you really want to hear Warrel Dane at his best. Warning: EXTREMELY HIGH VOCALS! ;)
Silent Lucidity by Queensryche will make you cry
I was a good friend of Dane, Loomis, Broderick and of course Van! So sad when he passed...he was sick for a long time. But, this band...they Left a legacy like no other!!!
Yes, Dane was trained in opera for about 5 years ..
Loomis is a student of both Friedman and Becker ..
Becker possibly Paganini reincarnated ..
Another great reaction video. Nevermore were a great metal band. I was lucky to see them on their first US tour in 1995 opening for Death. I got to see them on the Gigantour in 2005 as well. Such a great band. Also be sure to check out the band Sanctuary and the album Refuge Denied which features a young Warrel Dane singing really high notes
You should also check out Warrel Dane's original band before Nevermore...Santuary either the track "battle angels", "future tense" or their cover of Jefferson Airplane's "go ask alice" are all pretty awesome!
Just to clarify the cover of Jefferson Airplane's song is called "White Rabbit", the vocals are ridiculous.
i love this song. great reaction!
Let's take a minute to appreciate that Loomis sweep picked for a minute straight. People who don't understand the technique often over look the intensity of these solos. Sweeping for a minute straight is insane! Especially on this level. I can sweep for .3 seconds
Nevermore are awesome! This song is truly amazing. RIP Warrel, one of the greats for sure. Jeff Loomis, shredding guitar god!
Thanks for introducing me to this band!...And, goddamn you are a fox.
Sell my heart for stones from that same record is a chilling tune too. This record: Warrel Dane vocals, Steve Smyth Guitars, Jeff Loomis, Guitars, Jim Sheppard, Bass and Van Williams, Drums
Speaking of Tim Calvert, you should check out his former band FORBIDDEN, their singer Russ Anderson is an AMAZING vocalist as well..."Rest In Peace" from. Their -Twisted Into Form- album...hell, that entire album is a masterpiece!
Warrel Dane did have classical training. Besides Nevermore he had another band before (and after Nevermore disbanded) called Sanctuary and his voice was different back then, more high pitched... check the song "Battle Angels", it is a great song.
About Nevermore, the guitar player you have mentioned, Tim Calvert, didn't play on this album, the guitar player here (and on all Nevermore albums) is Jeff Loomis, he's on Arch Enemy now.
Nevermore is my favorite band ever. Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow are the best guitarists ive ever heard in my life. And Warrel you will be missed. Please check out more from Nevermore and Jeff Loomis. You will NOT be disappointed.
Probably the most under rated band in the genre.
React to Nevermore-dead heart in a dead world , or born
thank you sweat , great reaction :) i like you pause the video, that way you can display your feelings ..
R.I.P Waren Dean
Warrel Dane was awesome with Nevermore... Check him out in the 80's with his old band Sanctuary..Battle Angels...He does the Judas Priest style vocals.. He definitely could hit the Rob Halford ranges.
I saw thhem live together with arch enemy with the original singer best concert ever
I am both excited and sad. I listened to Sanctuary back in the day, however was not aware of this band (nor of Dane's passing). Thank you for doing this reaction, now I have another band to look into. It's probably been mentioned before, but (as you guessed) Dane was classically trained and actually sang opera before starting in SANCTUARY. If you like this you HAVE to check out SANCTUARY, his singing will stir up your emotions. I would recommend "Veil of Disguise" or their cover of "White Rabbit". Similar acts that i guarantee you'll love are METAL CHURCH and DEATH ANGEL. Both bands have seamless time changes/progressions and the singers both demonstrate remarkable range.
R.I.P. Warrel ... I just found out and I'm pretty shocked. He was one of a kind
Just wait until you hear Dreaming Neon Black. Brace yourself Pink! \M/
Warrel Dane was indeed a trained opera singer. I was fortunate enough to see Nevermore live in 2009. Btw, how is that intro song called?
Nevermore such a f great band!!!
I didn't know you did this song! Sooo awesome! I hope you like it...let's listen!
Airy and mystical vocals, exactly.
No matter what genre of music, it is it's mystical qualities that pull me in most.
Edit: speaking of mystical, your eyebrows have it too.
The guitar picking work was Jeff Loomis. If you really love vocals try Iced Earth - Melancholy or Watching Over Me the Matt Barlow years. Of course you can listen to Iced Earth - Dystopia which is the Stu Block years.
StoicBehavioR absolutely. Matt Barlow was amazing. Stu Block is tremendous. I like Tim Owens when he was with Yngwie, but didn't really care for his vocals with Iced Earth.
If you check out anything from the Matt Barlow era of Iced Earth check out Dracula. It's vocally amazing!
I highly recommend the song Brother by Warrel Dane. This was on a solo project he did and says it's one of the most personal songs he's ever written.
Dreaming neon black song.
I saw sanctuary on their first tour with megadeth. The river dragon has come! Rip warrell dane
i heard this song for the first time too and wtf i just got my ass kicked
Go check out Sanctuary- battle angels, that was when he could really sing high.
Van Williams is the epitomy of the PERFECT metal drummer. As a drummer myself, i am disillusioned with the blast beats and mindless drum rolls in metal. They suck. Stop doing it.
Van Williams pays close attention to the feel and the groove. His grooving is other worldly. Reminds me of the Dave Matthews drummer but with better double bass playing.
I miss this kind of playing. Dave Lombardo and then the legion of death metal drummers he inspired have ruined metal drumming
Andrew Smith
Van is and always has been my favorite too, so damned good. Can't wait for the new Ghost Ship Octavius and hope they do another Ashes of Ares album.
Sadly, this band went on hiatus in 2011. Nevermore was planning a reunion but due to death of lead vocalist of heart attack ending possible reunion.
