Boar Hunting and Trapping in Oklahoma

- Greg is on a mission to hunt and trap boars while he's in Oklahoma! Some friends invited him out to their HUGE ranch, where they've been having problems with wild pigs, so he's allowed to catch and cook as much pork as he likes.

Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

We would rather you get a clean shot and tell us about it, than worry about filming that moment. Great video!
Put coolaid on your corn. Sounds crazy but it works
Enjoy watching your videos Greg...how's Finn love that dog hope Finn's doing good and hope to see him on some of your new adventures.🐕🌄 🐕 Much love and respect..
I wish i had known you were coming. Would have been so cool to meet you. I live as close as you can be over in Missouri. Been watching since the beginning and if you ever get back this way would love to have a coffee. Drop gate on the inside they can't push out. The wire must be secured to ground EVERYWHERE or they lift up and walk out....i can run a camera. Ive been a professional guide all of my life, and 3 generations before.
I'm looking forward to this one.
I can't help but think just a simple drop down door, with the frame secured in the ground might have been a better way to close off the pig trap?
Good vid, thumbs up. 👍
Had the same thought. And gonna have to pin the wire down.
Awesome, I too live in oklahoma and it is SO cool to see you doing survival stuff here !!!!!! It is a unique place for survival thats for sure !! we are the most diverse state in terms of geographics, we have plains, mountians, swamps, forests, etc. all in one state. My least favorite thing about the woods here, is Ticks, and poison oak, poison ivy. And it gets stupid hot and humid here in the summer.
Actually nothing that meets Mountain scale. Only tall hills. However Oklahoma has more shorelines than the Pacific, Atlantic, and gulf coast combined. Also larger than any state east of the Mississippi.
A great start to my Saturday morning. Congrats Greg for your hunt.
congrats? for what? shooting a dumb animal fenced in on all sides? that ain't hunting... that's rich people buying a hunting experience
The landowners asked for help to manage the wild boars, as they are overrun with these destructive, dangerous predators. Wild boars reproduce very quickly, cause soil erosion, degrade water quality, destroy crops and terrorize other wildlife. The meat has not gone to waste. The hunt was clean and humane. The 'dumb animal' was not fenced in. Thank you for your critique of my comment. Have a nice day. @@nogglebeak
Friend have you seen the damage wild pigs do?
Some good eating there
Greg; Usually a pig door is made from a thick piece of plywood on a frame like a dog door but very large, the pigs can push it open but cannot push it back out to get out. INstall it on about a 45 degree angle so it is easy to push open and will close behind them so they can't get out. Thanks
Hello Greg! Congrats on the pig, and maybe next time u come back, u’ll get pigs n the trap. U know what I think would be cool to places u go to, if there could be a meet and greet on ur last day for ur viewers. Kinda have a signing of shirts/hats, of course we all know with u having a time limit, it’d be a line of us just to sake ur hand/ hug and ur autograph.as alway, enjoyed ur video! Thank u
Don't forget to LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE your here watching 😮. Send Greg the love everyone
Wish I didn't know you were coming to Oklahoma I live about 20 minutes from tahlequah I would love to meet you and if you ever do come to Oklahoma again we would have to meet up
Try the wood swing down door style to the inside of your post ,trigger at the corn bail area , they are fast !
Great vid fa real bro, this guy is a great man
Looks like the local wildlife got a sniff that Greg was in town, they were never going to make it easy for him, after all he's a Canadian you know over the border. 😂
Where is Finn?
watch out for frame rates on your fast forward footage. It seems maybe you are recording in at least 29.97 but just putting the footage straight into a 24 fps timeline. it drops fames every so often just to play the 29.97 fps footage in compliance with the timeline and amplified when sped up. Try slowing the 30fps footage down to 80% so the frames line up with 24ffps timeline
Can't wait to watch this new video. Been having to re-watch old videos. Nothing wrong with that though.
Oklahoma is so amazingly beautiful ❤❤ I've never been, so I look forward to seeing it this summer. Is there any humidity during the summer days?
It's hotter than hell here in the summer and very humid. Good luck 😂
@@RickAngell I'm from Tampa Fl. I love the humidity. Any lakes around this area?
@@teeyaquintana there are lakes all over the place in eastern Oklahoma.
@@teeyaquintanamore shorelines than the Pacific, Atlantic and gulf coast combined. Lake Eufala was the world's largest man-made lake for decades. Yes we got water everywhere 🇺🇲🗽
@@idealsmithreeves7392 I love it! So gonna be in it this summer! Thanks for sharing ❤️
Teeya
I go on a float trip in Tahlequah every year!
I can’t wait for this video to come out
Been waiting for this video 👍🏼👍🏼
Hey Greg hope everything is going great for you today brother. Stay safe 🙏 and safe travels 🙏
Please keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 😊
After further reviewing of You're video that was NOT an ARMADILLO. That was an an (armored attack opossum).😂
Right on!
He’s been traveling a bit huh🐸
Yes, please go back soon with a lot more cameras and maybe a camera crew! You are smart in how much footage you released with this video, though. Too much pig catch and cook video footage might attract the unwanted attention of animal activists lurking on UA-cam. Great video, Greg!
I can't wait to see the next video of you in Oklahoma and I wish we can see a catch and cook with the hog hopefully next time
I am looking forward to this too and I live in thackerville Oklahoma right on the Texas Oklahoma line
Heyooo I'm just up the road then lol I'm in Ratliff City Oklahoma
Bennington Ok
The pig Trap needs a drop door. Faster.😅
Aww, pretty much every Disney character walked into the trap except for the pigs... 🥺
Watch Greg get this bacon
You are literally 1 hour from me! I live right on grand lake oklahoma. You should make it out this way and do some fishing videos. Super huge paddlefish and catfish here
For real, I live in Oklahoma and if there’s a way to get ahold of you, I can get you on some catfish, gar, spoonbill, etc
Greg, if possible take a buddy with you and you can film them and they can film you. Maybe find a interested person that is local who will want to do it, I'm sure there will be someone interested.
Beautiful area that ranch is on Greg, congrats on the pig, really looking forward to this .
If you are in Oklahoma in March, you can hit the white bass runs and paddlefish spawn.
You could’ve just used the trap design you used out here in Hawaii 🐸🍺🔪🔥
Excellent job Greg! I really like your videos.
Bore hunting is GREAT in TX as well! They are HUGE and invasive here!
Hope you did a thorough body check for ticks when you finished dressing the pig!😳
Hope Oklahoma has been treating you right glad you see you in our state, If you have time check out the Illinois river.
Hey you're not too far from Tulsa! Tahlequah Is beautiful.

I wanna see ovens, Fowler, ace, and woodmans all do a collab survival challenge on an island together 🙌🏻
Ooh Greg you look like good old okie fit right just look at you go wow lam glad you are having fun 😄 ❤
Oh snap Greg you’re 3 hours from my cabin in the river valley of mid-.south western Arkansas. I’m on the border of Oklahoma/arkansas near broken bow. We’ve got a lot of good fishing and hunting out of my back door. If you never wanna come out to Arkansas just let me know! You are more than welcome to whatever you need! Thanx for the years of knowledge and entertainment my friend!!! 🙌🏼🫡
Hello from Beautiful British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦
Dang Gregg, thanks for the variety of videos lately. Best pulled pork I ever made in my offset smoker was wild hog from corn fields in Louisiana, yum I used to make quite a good living back in the day welding and fabrication of hog traps in Louisiana. We were over run with them like many places.
Welcome to the United States my friend
Hey Ovens, just lived to Georgia from Ireland, to bad I missed ya haha.
Might work better using feedlot panels, at least one for the gate.
Thank for awesome video Greg :)
I really enjoyed this video....Real stuff..😊
Love it as always! Wish I knew you were coming, live not to far outside Tahlequah would’ve loved to have met up with ya and showin ya around a bit!
Staying up till 1am Australian time for this one! 🎉
Well, its almost 2 am here in Melbourne :)
Watching from Trinidad& Tobago
Traps that Fred from Scooby Doo would be truly proud of!
Traps are so simple and easy to learn
Nice, how do those things taste Greg? Must be no fat on them.
Cool, best regards from Norway! :D
16 ft solid stock panels work best.
Love Greg's videos he is very informative with plants and bushcraft keep it up buddy stay safe out there
What happened to the camera quality
Right on Greg! Love from a fellow Canadian, living in Cambodia and living the northern life through you. Peace brother!
Why don't you have a cameraman Greg? Seems like it'd make a difference, it would let you focus more on actual content
Nothing is more dangerous then a hungry hunter.
This makes me want to re read Where the Red Fern Grows.
WooT Woot Oklahoma girl in the house!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
🖖🏻Greg, your narratives are among the topmost! Thanks much!👏🏻🤜🏻🤛🏻❤🕊
your a survivor greg not a out and out hunter, you don't use modern stuff, its hard cave man style ,own ideas etc, you'll get one, guaranteed .
Yea this guy is a real ancient survival genious
Keep it up very nice not only the fish wesper the hunting wesper good job 👍
Great episode sir, making traps and shooting air rifles are my fav during my spare time

Right on Ovens you rock go gettem watchin from ont canada.
Thank for video Greg
Great vid fa real bro, this guy is a great man
does he not take finn with him any more
During the tour of the cabin when he said fireplace his voice sounded very depressed having to call that a fireplace. Lol😂
You can't even use a frying pan on it. Because like Greg, I would rather cook with fire than electricity
Those squirrels looked pretty happy stealing the bait from your trap. Cool vid. Cool trap. 👍💚
Love this.
But those are not European Wild Boars. They look like domestic pigs gone wild. So wild pigs maybe. Nice trip.
The trap that I build has a similar spring loaded door set up, which is just a continuation of the fence, much like you are using. And the door is wide open, at first, so the hogs can just walk in. I have a mechanism that shuts the door, once they trip the cable next to the feed. But the way that I have it set up, hogs can still get into the trap from the outside, once the door is shut, but they can not get out. Once you are in the trap, and the door closes, you literally have to have hands to pull the door open, you can’t push on it to open it from the inside. You can only push on it to open it from the outside. It’s a Pretty ingenious set up. A Florida pig hunter showed it to me. I’m from Louisiana and I have built several different types of traps since the ‘80’s, but this one has been my favorite by far. It’s built out of T-Post and field fencing. The stuff with the squares not the rectangles. It’s much stiffer, and that’s what allows the door to work so well, when set up properly. The Florida pig hunter has a UA-cam video showing how he builds it if you’re interested in watching it., I’ll try to find it...
Greg!
OMG I've never seen so many live ticks. Mercy.
Those looked like hog lice
Wow. You're in close to my Neighborhood I'm up here in siloam springs Arkansas
Boar Hunting or could be BORE Hunting of perhaps Bored Boar Hunting!!🤣🇨🇦
Love you Greg!!
Looks like Greg is earning his keep.
Thanks Greg
Hey Greg, been watching for a couple of years now, are you maybe related to Dutch or Microwave? Lol jk. I enjoy your vids, keep up the good work Yeshua Is The Way The Truth and The Life! Best of luck!
In all seriousness let’s collaborate, 50 acres of turkey, largemouth bass, whitetail, brim, catfish, you kill it you eat it.. how I was raised. Woods of Tennessee
No offence greg but when you want to trap something don't have your STINK all over it. Use gloves & cover your mouth while assembling it, or when finished rub dirt over everything you've touched. It makes the target less suspicious. Remember there sight is poor but there smell is 100 times better then ours. Shouts out from Ireland 🇮🇪
Why did you make your trap right alongside an existing trap?
The other wire is to keep hogs out of the feeder that's meant for deer.
Oh I see. Thanks for telling me.@@d.faulkner8210
Waiting here in the uk for another Greg special.
Hey greg i love the videos
Yea Boy
Greg, I would love for you to do a Florida bush survival. I have two palm trees for your hammock if you need a place to stay. I would love to learn edible plants here. I know some. There is an abundance of wildlife. Great fishing!
Dang not too far away from me!! Sure would have loved to have met you!! Sure hope you come back, we have plenty of stuff for you to hunt! And we have catfish everywhere! Several kinds!!!
