Hang out with Ovens in the bush and take in the beautiful Rocky Mountain lake scenery, as he reels in a bunch of fish!

I laughed my ass off when the "oven mitts" commercial came on!
Me too!!😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
First time I actually laughed out loud at a video in a long time
Only reason that I'm in the comments
Same
epic commercial, but in last moment i resist. Rest of my family ordered dozen. I hope they give me one on birthday.
Marriage, family, mortgage, job, bills, . . . I watch this channel for a glimpse of freedom.
Wait, is he homeless?
Can’t have it all mate! You make your decision. He /we do this with severe moments of loneliness and desolate! You do yours with panic and need to keep up!! No difference between the the two, it’s the human condition mate.
@@sminter7521 he's got a home, the Rockies man

Greg is such a likeable bloke... humble and honest too... says it as it is. Respect.
i feel honored to share a country with this man

If you don't love Greg, you're not a good person. He's the most likable guy around.

I totally agree
Absolutely agree to both of you

I got some Oven Mitts for my mom for Christmas!! 🤣
I love your channel! I almost fell on the floor LMFAO over the "Oven Mitts" commercial!
True how do you order some ? Love from Australia 🇦🇺 D
Oh man I love how your so open with yourself and with the nature. Your living a million dollar life for real real
I love how he just talks to the camera like hes on a live video with some close friend, doesn't feel like hes preparing for edits, trying to be a showman, its just my buddy out hunting lol and i dont even know the guy
Is he alone? He made enough food for 3 people easily
I just discovered his channel, but he's already my best friend
@@gavincrump9831 I thought the same thing. Maybe for later?
Although medical conditions cause me to struggle, your energy really encourages men to get out and explore. I camped for the first time in years and caught a bass and cooked it up over an open fire and it was so peaceful. Thank you for posting you experiences
Captain DJ Try to walk every day if you can. It helps.
Bob Costas 👋🏼 hi! Yes I have stopped drink any kind a soda and have lost almost 50lbs. I deal with Crohns. Thank you for the encouragement. I’m for the first to try a walk without worrying about a restroom. This sickness gets ya down.
Adrian Gamos thank you Adrian. I’m slowly getting there. Thinking positive. Your encouragement helps 🙂👍🏼
It's truly a peaceful experience to hook clean and cook your own
A scallop is a shellfish that lives on the ocean floor; their shell is pretty rounded and has a fin on either side. I've loved to eat them since I was just a sprout. Lobster too, but nothing compares to a ribeye steak! I've really been enjoying your videos! Thanks for sharing!
Ok, I watched the Fish-O-Matic video yesterday, that was the first I’ve heard of you. I’m hooked, your editing is great too btw.
Zach Fowler does the editing
This kind of living is very tough but the freedom appeals to me.
skully 10 completely missing the point lol. Living off the land is difficult and can be very unforgiving at times. He is referring to the struggles he deals with when he’s out in the wild money has nothing to do with it 🤦♂️ Materialistic things have no meaning at all and don’t define Greg as he is a humbling man
@skully 10 someone's mad lmao
@skully 10 Where is/was the "new truck" unless this is an old posting???
Mischa Chan some men are more girls than a lot of girls. LOL. Just be prepared for the unexpected, & enjoy the expected experiences. I admire him & what he is doing, along the path he is traveling.
I laughed way harder than I should have at "Ovens mitts"!
The commercial for them had me lmao!!
Don't feel like the lone ranger bro 😂🤣🤣😂
Yep.

I’d love to go fishing for a week or so with you Greg your just a chill guy
Greg u are a living legend. The best of the best!!!!!
Protip straight from Finland: roll those pliers around the burbots skin before pulling. That way they stay tight and skin stays intact.
Youre great, love to watch your videos!
Great Tip! check out this my Covid catfish video In north carolina!

Finland ... I need to visit
Everybody needs a good friend like you, coolest guy, sense of humor. Keep going buddy, I love your videos
Great video. I learn something every time I watch 'a day in the life of Greg Ovens'. Thanks Greg for your honesty, humour and teaching moments. Keep 'em coming!
GREG IS A TRUE SURVIVALIST
We were rooting so hard for Greg back when he did Alone. He was an absolute riot, and that was our favorite season because of Greg being on it. Thanks, Greg!
he should of won
While watching him on alone i was hoping he’d a have a UA-cam. Crazy that it popped up in my recomended
Right mine too and this time a reccomend video was well received unlike most that dont matter to me.
Thank you! I was thinking, I know I have seen this guy before.
What season?
Not crazy, if you actually mentioned it out loud , remember, your devices are listening to everything you say! Lol
He was on alone? What a rock star. I bet he won
This channel is unreal. This is what British Columbia is all about. Best province in Canada for sure and I’m proud to live here everyday.
Nice can’t wait to see you catch some fresh rocky mountain oysters.
All the animals in the rockies: holding their nuts
These are honestly so wholesome best content on youtube atm
I think it's bc he is living the meaning of life. I'm glad he found it bc it gives me hope.
He looks like the good version of the dad from shameless.
Ol Frank
The American imitation Shameless, not so much the original.
I was thinking the same thing
I thought he looked like a sock...🤷♂️
Lmao spot on
Hi Greg! :-) Just wanted to tell you that a pair of very thin wool-gloves works wonders when it comes to holding on to lively & otherwise reluctant fish:-) The fact that they`re thin means that you just cleanse them i water, squeeze water out & they dry quickly! :-) & thank you for your show & letting me & all come along! :-) :-) Sincerly Mette F :-)
Thank you Greg for educating us all on edible plants and bushcraft. Beautiful videos and country. Keep on keeping on.
I was rooting for him on Alone. I was sad he didtn win because he seemed genuine in turning his life around and buying his beautifull daughter a house. Hope he reatchs succes here on youtube. Cheers
Thanks Fowler for supporting Greg your edits are super and you are appreciated 💞
I couldn't agree more. Fried burbot and bud...+ "bud" lol
Keep posting and educating us all on survival. Thanks again Greg. Cheers to you b'y
Best quote take it all in man take it all in.....priceless advice.. hope to see you in the bush my friend
Had me when you said this is what I do - All the time.
Right on Brother. Just gotta be hunting and fishing and foraging in the great outdoors. Concrete jungle = not for me.
I've lived in West Canada most my life, I've spent many times exploring the Badlands, prairies, Rockies, kootenai's, Okanagan, and the lower mainland. Never stop making these amazing videos! I know I plan on making videos like these, you help inspire me!
Really love this channel man, I live in Denver and we are in the mountains quite often. Not as much as we would like. But I've taken notes from some of the information you have shared. Really appreciate it. As a combat infantryman, I love being in the bush or in the field. So this stuff is great for me and putting to use a very simplistic way of surviving and thriving out there is awesome. Keep them coming man
Back in the 90s I used to spend a lot of time on the sea of Cortez, I used to snorkel there and pull giant scallops of the bottom, used to be paradise, cartels have made that area a no go.what a shame
That's terrible. I hope at some point the cartels can be brought to justice and the corruption in our governments can be purified.
Can't wait👍🏻Seen all your episodes and love your chanel man. Best of luck on future endeavours. All hails from Norway
My Grampa said whenever he caught Lingcod in the Arrow Lakes in the Kootneys he would nail the head to a tree, then skin it lol. Beautiful fish. My stomach is growling!
That’s what my grandpa did too
But with catfish
Long cod? In fresh water?

From a michigan boy who loves seafood. One of the commandments is to not covet your neighbor but your lobster and steak and scallops sure make it tough. Good channel Greg. Your doing awesome and great filming. God bless
I am so happy you mentioned how dangerous Kinbasket can be, it honestly seems like people have forgotten in recent years. Great video, loved it!
I don’t hunt or fish and rarely ever venture out into the woods/bush, but here I am yet again watching Greg Ovens do his thing.
Dave Hakes Yes, I’m out of the god damned bush closet.
this is one of my favorite UA-cam channel, simple and full of adventure s,, and Mr Greg is so humble, even if i didn't met him yet but i can say he is a humble person and have a good soul... God Bless and Keep safe..
sorry for my not-so-good english,,
from Philippines🇵🇭👍🍻
We used to scuba dive for pink scallops at Fox Island, Washington State. They also can make immitation scallops from Shark and Halibut cheeks, very similar texture and taste.
Be sure to mention not only subscribe to your channel, but I've learned that when UA-cam monetizes a channel they pay particular attention to those who activated the notification option, and that helps them determine the pay scale. So I finally subscribed and did the notification option. Loved the RC boat and mouse trap, looking forward to more! 👍👍
I am planning my Van Life Chapters now because of watching videos like this. I've had the Corparate Life and now and I'm heading for the simple life looking for the ultimate happiness. Thank you for the inspiration and all the survival tips. To. Be. Continued.
I really like this guy's energy, so infectious even through a screen.
I love seeing someone getting out and doing what they love.
Your a Good man Greg living the American Dream I love this kinda stuff Greg it brings me peace & joy just by watching you fish & live off the land. I also live in my truck to by choice & I love it makes me feel happy to be free from all thing's ❤🇺🇸😍
I could watch your videos all day long....wait... I've been watching all day your videos... 🤘🏻😀... Awesome job Greg
5:20 "I forgot to buy a net"! I love your humility, Greg... we're all human. You have a real nice singing (and speaking voice too)! It's my pleasure & privilege to subscribe to your channel!
I knew I recognized Greg. He was on that show "Alone"
I enjoy watching, keep them coming Greg!!
Thank you Sir
I love your show, as a chef i'd like to see more of you cooking and eating what you get. I think that embodies the whole survival thing, eating to stay alive.
hey greg, as a chef of 17 years and fisherman even longer a scallop is a special kind of mollusk, its a bivalve mollusk. scallops come in a beautiful shell. im surprised you didnt know this as a fisherman. great video as always my friend, i love your page i wish you put out more content like 30 day challenges. i recently found out you were on ALONE.. so i watched the season you and fowler were on. it was great, i wish you would have won..... keep up the great work my friend.
cheers,
Chef Nate
I am 100% sure that Greg knows what they look like. He was just trying to get people to comment. A high comment rate on videos encourages the algorithm to promote his videos.
@@trendinvestor2893 ya' dont say. thanks for telling me how youtube works lol
Crazy that people are scared to go outside but will crowd into the nearest Walmart no problem... geez...
I know, right? Viruses & bacteria die in sunlight & fresh air.
or liquor store
I haven't been in a Walmart since March and I have no plans on going to one until this thing is over. I only really went there to fill my prescriptions. I have them shipped to me now.
Oh lord I’ve been living normally. 50% of the deaths are form nursing homes in the USA, when they were caught sending sick people into them to spread the disease. Biggest hoax in human history.
Funnel the sheep into the corral for ease of handling.
I'm addicted to your content it's so inspiring, funny and overall entertaining. Such a cool dude thanks again :)
Hi Greg greetings from Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan
Good videos I love them all.
Your videos are like the real thing out off life nothing staged . My respect my friend keep doing it even I a Hunter learns a thing specially about plants. Take care I can't wait for the next video . Bye bye
Such a good video Gregg! Class is in session! 👩🏻🏫The water on those lakes is such an amazing color. We don’t have water like that here in New York. I’ve also never tried Ling cod specifically but now I know I’ve got to try it! As always thank you for today’s lessons. 💕
Actually we do have many lakes similar to that in N. Y. they're just not on the tourist list for good reason
@@ericschulze5641 My Dad grew up on Conesus :)
Best UA-cam channel ever. I love lockdown at the moment so I can watch these as soon as they come on

Truly an insperation to me in a troublesome time in my life your passion and love is awsome to watch

@@boodro2122 thanks, I hope you have a relaxing weekend, get rejuvenated for the week ahead!
I would love to spend a month outdoors with Greg. All my worries would just disappear... Well done.
Great show Greg.
Nothing like a fresh catch dinner....
Scallops are an ocean shellfish, their shell looks like the Shell Gasoline logo.
Best eaten with the Coral still on though imho.... that’s the orange bit attached to the muscle.
Yes ma'am 👍👍
Oof, what a comparison. :\
@@ipodman371 Not too smart, aren't ya.
Scallops are cookie cutter size circles from a sting ray wing.
Greg cutting the fish on a log: "doesn't want to stay on the board though!"🐟🍽👍🏻
I'm on a binge watching spree! I love the outdoors but unfortunately my profession, IT Security keeps me busy most of the time but one day I'd love to do stuff like this and enjoy. Definitely loving the content!
such a humble and chill guy
Man! Sure would love to be there fishin too! Some glorious beautiful land of Gods great creation.
Great adventure Greg. I learn something new every time I watch. The fish looks delicious! Nice job editor!!
Love ole Greg im glad hes doin this👌minty fella
Have you ever seen those ridged “clam shells”? Scallops are the muscle that closes their shell. Be sure to buy “dry packed” ones at the store, or they’ll be soaked in enough preservative brine to float a boat! They’re one of my favourite seafoods, too. Scallop shells can not only live on the ocean floor, as Cheryl points out, but they can “flap” their shells open and closed to swim from danger! Thanks for teaching me about the burbot/freshwater ling. Now that I know there’s more out there than rainbow trout and steelhead,I really want to start fishing in BC!
i havent watched a random video and realized i struck gold so soon until this
I sure do miss your Geico caveman commercials. I almost packed my bags and was headed to the Rockies when I saw your lobster. Your meal is freaking awesome 👍. Great video
Those kind of lobsters are from New England.
Thanks for the tips Greg! Very nice Rainbows!
😂 love your show Greg keep up I like the fishing I like the survival everything is all cool thanks for sharing with this just in case nobody told you fish on
I had to watch this one for at least the third time. A great video. And, I need a set of "Oven's Mitts" as well.

Used to go snorkeling in the Gulf and catch a cooler full of scallops in a day back in the late 80's.
I was more shocked there's supposedly people who don't know what scallops look like
The Florida Big Bend has the best scallops in the world
Awesome dinner

Awesome trout, you can tell this is a catch and grease trip,my kind of fishing
The editing is great--- and Greg is just a natural at this camera stuff.

People staying home because of the virus (ridiculous), glad you are out doing it , nice loon call there & your little fishing song , a great thumbs up there 👍👍👍👍 ! I don’t know how I missed this part 9 mo ago !
When I saw the "crawdad", I said "That thing's damn too big for a craw, it's as big as a lobster" haha. But man, that plate looked like a real feast!
Is no one going to acknowledge the fact that this man cooked cooked three lobsters, two steaks, and a whole bag of scallops for dinner for himself in the bush?
If you and I lived feast or famine we would do it too.
And that his fiberglass boat turned into a Aluminum one lol.
Who said he was alone just because you saw no one with him??
Lol....must be that good Canadian pot
