I've owned two Burgman 650 Execs for a total of 11 years, and now a '23 C 400 GT for half a year (and a '22 C 400 GT for a year before that, which BMW swapped out for me, the result of a major engine malfunction). And, interspersed over the years, an R 850 R, a Valkyrie Interstate, a Victory Cross Country Tour, and my current backup bike, a Royal Enfield Meteor 350. I've also ridden the C 400 X on three Edelweiss tours now: Tuscany, Vienna, and, by special dispensation, the Ultimate Alps. The main draw, for me, for the C 400 GT is its absolutely SUPERB handling. I think it has more lean angle than any of those other bikes (measured by my GoPro Hero11 as at least 43° left and 41° right). It's a twisty maven. And I also like the looks of the GT. And the brakes are very good. And the engine has a good amount of pep, smoothness, and top speed (86 mph as spec'ed in the owner's manual, but 89 on level ground, per my GPS). The bodywork construction of the GT is much better than on the 650 Burgman (and, from what I've read, that goes for the 400 Burgman, as well). BMW uses gobs of same-size Torx screws and expanding metal spring clips. Suzuki relies on tiny and thin plastic tabs and plastic pop-rivets, and the odd bolt. Definite quality on the Beemer. And also a very important consideration for me is that the pillion accommodations are spot on for my wife. This encompassed the seat width and padding, the foot and leg positioning, and the flat pad on the optional BMW topcase. This was all wrong on the Execs, and forced me to go to a local upholsterer to remedy some of the shortcomings on the first one I owned. The underseat full-face-helment-holding Flexcase is a wash. Nice to have for a lunch stop, but non-existent when riding, should you want to use it for storing something other than a helmet. The lack of windscreen height adjustability is also kind of a wash. I think it's a borderline sin to have a bike with THROTTLE-BY-WIRE and umpteen sensors and switches, and a nice TFT display, to NOT have cruise control. And it's not as if BMW doesn't know how to do the programming; almost all their other bikes have this. And they call this a Grand Tourer? Second biggest fail is the sideways placement of the Schrader valves, in the "spoke" area. This precludes adding an external TPMS sensor to the front wheel, because it would smack into a brake caliper (and I actually have one FOBO sensor on the rear wheel -- the other sensor gathers dust on a shelf). BMW should either have TPMS as a factory option -- again, something they do for most of their other bikes -- or they should put the Schrader valves in the center of the rims, like everyone else does. Also, the underseat storage area is kind of wonky. There's not a large area, but instead it's compartmentalized into a bunch of smaller ones. And the TFT is not properly utilized, IMO. The engine RPMs can be viewed only on one screen that has very little other data, and so not viewed on the main screen that has all the other data. @@skillfuldabest yeah, that is why most ppl buy it. It is a scooter without the expensive maintenance of a scooter. But your reasoning does not make sense to me. It is like saying a Polo gti is not a compact car because it shares the EA888 engine with the passat. The engine and transmission do not solely define a car or motorcicle.
I am a new scooter convert after years on motorcycles of all varieties. At 72 I find my BMW C400GT to be perfect. You have to relearn a lot of things though, a good thing as it keps your brain active. When people ask why a scooter? I just smile and say, it's soo comfortable!
I own two big bikes, a 1300cc, and a 1500cc, and a Honda 250cc Elite Scooter 1985 with 14k original miles and it gets ALL my attention. I'm gonna trade my 1300cc in for a Maxi Scooter. I'm HOOKED again. I had a Honda 50cc scooter in the 80's and it was like being the king of high school.
I'm having my doubts about TechMax and BMW400GT. Yamaha, is much more performant but BMW is very well balanced for the City and around. I am not a motorcycle guy. I love scooters for the freedom they offer you in urban mobility. Anyhow, Yamaha TMax is the scooter every guy would love to have it.
The Zontes maxi scooters (310 and 350) ....Aggressive looks/ high build quality and lots of options as well as plenty of bHP that beats them all!! And cherry on the top is the price tag!! I would decently place it @ NO. 2

I have the Piaggio beverly 400. Incredible bike. My rides are long and fast 75mph. 200 miles between both my homes. Over the Washington Mountain passes. Great riding bike you won't be disappointed.
My 2023 BMW C400GT bought new has broken down twice in 12 months. First time they didn’t know, second time fuel injector pump. It’s working now but I won’t buy another in the future
The Piaggio Beverly 400 S aka BV400 S, is a remarkably capable machine. Slim and nimble around town, but take it on the freeway and you'll be doing 90+ mph before you know it. It's also incredibly smooth and stable at those speeds. And that's coming from a long time motorcycle commuter. My Piaggio BV 400 S rocks!!
Honda SH300i is the best scooter I have owned and ridden. I currently own an ADV350, but the SH was better around town, and scratching, yes scratching, on the back roads. Was going to get an X-ADV but the sest height was too much for me, new ine us lower so might try again.
In Australia, the Kymco AK550 premium is way more powerful than the TMax Yamahaha and about $5,000 cheaper for similar features: electric screen, cornering ABS, cruise control and phone connectivity. I own one and love the AK. Now have 9000 kilometres on it.
I think all main dealers are very expensive. Honda charge £90 for diagnostic (ECU). I think they should charge either free or £10. It just 1 minute job for small computer plug into the bike & found what is the problem.
@skillfuldabest , yes correct! And on top of that very low durability which cause you to visit the dealership on a regular base. It was the worst scooter I have ever owned. Before I had a Forza 125 which was unbreakable. Now I have an xadv 750. Which rides as a bike but exact same seating a a scooter. 32000 km now without any issues. 5 year warranty unlimited mileage. I use it to commute 126 km/ day
Absolutely I already ride and electric motorcycle and that BMW one looks super to me. On the other hand, going electric on a car especially if you live up north where it gets really cold in winter never made any sense to me because today batteries are not made for this conditions but a motorcycle you don't ride it in winter so it is actually a good thing
Think I will stick with my adv350 over the much pricier bmw. I am told it is a Kymco with bmw badges? Not sure how the bmw has made the number 1 spot as reviews for the adv350 appear more favourable.
It’s a Lincoln engine or something like that the same one that voge 400 scooter uses it’s Chinese Adv350 way more quality built I drove everything and I got the adv
It's copied by the Chinese (Loncin) from KYMCO, ridden both actually, the Chinese Loncin does a better job with the underseat storage as it is fixed. Performance is basically the same.
I had a c400gt for commuting and it was the most expensive bike I ever had in terms of maintenance. On top of that it is low quality and showed a lot of failures. Now I drive the xadv 750 never had and issue with it for the past 30000 km. I would say stay with the Honda 😊
I made my own out of lean and steel strips. Bolted on a 33 Givi box and use my AK premium all the time. The rear hand rails are only plastic so drill holes in them to take your home made rack. AK is awesome handler and fun, more powerful than Yamahaha!
Italjet maybe should have made the list when I was very young years ago I had an italjet minibike & lasted a very long time & I rode it nearly every day for about 5 years also I've recently seen a modern scooter they just released the build quality seemed very substantial & it had a nice sleek design I guess people either love them or hate them I think they're pretty cool though
It's difficult nowadays to determine what is a scooter and what is a "proper" motorcycle. It used to be easy, a scooter was a machine where you could mount it simply by sliding your leg through the gap between the seat and the front forks. Handy if you are wearing a skirt. A motorcycle on the other hand, meant you had to throw your leg over the seat. It seems this is no longer the case.
They used to be here, had Amazing quality scoots on par with Kymco, also built in Taiwan with ceramic coated one piece cylinder heads. Not many in the U.S. have heard of them and don't realize they are worlds apart from a low budget cheap Chinese💩 bike. They have been in the game since 1954 & used to work alongside Honda and still have their quality in mind they're also HUGE overseas and even make cars. I still have my 2007 SYM RV 250 painted in Dupont electric blue thought about selling it but it's too much fun being flickable yet extremely dependable. It is parked next to my 2017 Burgman 650 bought on the weekend of St🍀 Patrick's Day 2024 in Pearl bracing white. Damn they are both sexy.😍😹 Both run great and were bought used, $5000 for the Suzuki from a Very decent stand up honest 66-year-old man with 24,000 cross country Highway miles (with many extras) & $2300 for the SYM (bought in 2016) also from an older gentleman only had 3500 miles @ the time (mostly local city miles) I did find one decent UA-cam video on a red 2009 SYM identical to mine except the color.✌️
Yamaha, you got a good thing going, but the price is outrageous for a scooter. Keep all the unnecessary tech, and give us the cc's and the asthetics (which is the appeal of it anyways), and a scooter friendlier price tag and you'll sell more. We dont need all the tech, and nobody wants to pay 14,000 for a scooter no matter how good it looks. Coprende?
@artstar 5994 Well said, btw I say all new things aren't necessary, just because you can doesn't mean you should, also If you want to be even MORE invisible to the two ton cagers pick battleship gray as your next color for your scooter, you know the same color as the road your riding on so you really blend in!!🫥🤤💥 Can only hope they will be riding in high-vis gear, it may not look cool to those that only think in the short-term but neither are hospital beds/bills!!✌️🇺🇸
Cheers m8, great video! So far, Burgman was my favorite. One question for you, or others in the comment section. Has anyone heard of QJ Fort 350? If so, what is your opinion? Cheers!
You didn’t include the 3 wheel scooters like the Yamaha or the MP3 I think these Scooters offer more in someways including here in the States they do not require a Motorcycle License to operate and not to forget the additional traction of a third wheel.
Ya the x-adv i have been drooling over wanted since came out however many years ago. Just teasing with stuff can not have or afford. Affordability figure out if ever came.
In Spain Sym tl508 seems to have many realibility problems. It's nice but not sure if can handle a lot of use. Honda 350 clutch problems not all units but enough to thinking twice
@@kevinmanaloto306It's 400 c.c. and although a maxi scooter per its specs and performance, it's about the only one that doesn't look like a big plastic Skidoo.
The Honda Forza 750 and X-ADV 750 also do something none of the others can, accept a multitude of luggage and lighting options making the machines totally adaptable! The true scooters mentioned are one trick ponies with maybe a larger rear box! SO, yes it maybe time to ask peoples opinions, 'What qualifies as a maxi scooter?'
Maxiscooter is a big scooter with a CVT. Might as well add the NC750 with DCT as a maxiscooter as well if you continue that argument. Do we also call the KYMCO KRV 180 a motorcycle now because it uses also a chain? Admit or not the DCT is on a league of it's own.
@@kevinmanaloto306 it is awkward territory this 'what is it?' game, TMAX is definitely a grown-up scooter cos of its looks but the Forza 750 is a motorcycle in drag, if one is allowed to say such a thing!!!
For me a scooter has a cvt and belt, nice and clean to use and easily replaced myself. Love the Forza 750 but the gearbox will cost a fortune eventually! Best scooter i had was an SYM but the parts were impossible to get, now use Forza 300 but they have a lot of issiues that bug me!
I bought a new BMW C400GT as I wanted something manoeuvrable, no clutch/gears, good MPG / KPL for nipping to the shops or heading out on the twistier roads for some fun, however a 350cc single cylinder engine lacks the power for distance on highways/motorways. I'm looking at trading in my 6 month old machine for a more powerful engine to put the smile back on my face. The SYM looks like it could be the answer but the limited dealership numbers concern me.....
Good decision. Wait till you pay for the first 20000km maintenance you would have wished you sold it earlier. And then I am not speaking about the times I had to visit the dealer to replace parts under warranty. Worst scooter I have ever owned.
I am 6'6" 230lbs. If the people who review scooters will measure the distance from the handlebars to the footboard everyone should be able to measure the top of their knee to the bottom of their foot and will be able to know if they will fit. The top of my knee to the bottom of my foot with boots on is 26 inches with about 3 inches to spare. I own and fully enjoy my 2022 Kymco AK 550. I've raced and beat hellcats on city streets with short distance advantages.
Just bought from first owner, always garaged, recently serviced with new tyres and battery, 4,833 miles Honda Silverwing. Rides very well, known reliability and low maintainance. No tech but just £1,750 cash. Don't have to sell any of my motorcycles to purchase this. Maxi scooters seem to have become so expensive with all the tech.
Biggest issue with BMW C400 is the flexicase. It has to be up while riding which greatly reduces storage. Also made in China which is not ideal. For me, Piaggio Bev 400 is spot on. Great handling, excellent power to weight ratio and well priced.
Still waiting on Benelli making a bigger one and bringing to Usa. Be interesting to see how many other people here have a Zafferano like me. Probably not many.
Like to see what you define a Maxi Scooter as because I'd delete more than half of those on your list as the motor is less than an actual 400cc. Only three on your video I'd personally call Maxis: The Kymco AK550 Premium, The Yamaha T Max 560 and the Honda 750 ADV. All the rest are town scooters and would not tour with the likes of a touring Motorcycle like a Triumph Tiger 850. I personally own a AK 550 Premium and think it is great, blue and way better value for money than the ugly Yamaha shark face T Max.
Can't believe yamaha xmax is not on your list. It would be a #1 on the list when it comes to under seat storage , fuel consumption, reliability and cost of a unit 😂

The forza 750 is way better scooter than most of the table, yet nobody seems to like a conventional maxiscooter.
but it's not really a scooter lol, it's much more like a motorcycle
@@skillfuldabest how is it not a scooter? Same riding position, good seat, good aerodinamic protection, luggage capacity. It is the exact definition of a scooter other tan being dct instead of a belted cvt
@@pollrodri6254 exactly, it doesn’t have a cvt, instead it has the exact engine and chain drive as another actual motorcycle
@@skillfuldabestand also, that would make the X-ADV not a scooter, which he clearly considers in the video
I just bought a Beverly 400, love it ,lots of power and not too heavy and handling is is great with the 16in front tire.
@@michaelb.42112 Just done 1700 miles round Scotland in a week! nothing this little scoot cannot do (except offroading maybe)
Before the X Adv comes to the product....
The Zontes maxi scooters (310 and 350) ....Aggressive looks/ high build quality and lots of options as well as plenty of bHP that beats them all!! And cherry on the top is the price tag!!
I would decently place it @ NO. 2
Zontes 501 G is the best
i agree with you i have zontes 350D now and it has around 38HP and really beast even better thatn zontes 350E due to its lighter wieght at 297KG and better acceleration
The burgman 650 had everything for the longest of rides you could have wanted. Shame thay stopped making them.
650 was king!

KYMCO is the best all around maxi scooter! Its got the looks, the power, and everything else you need at an affordable price! Be sure to flood the states with them. Thank you!
Nice concept KYMCO! Keep up the great work and BRING IT!
I have the Piaggio beverly 400. Incredible bike. My rides are long and fast 75mph. 200 miles between both my homes. Over the Washington Mountain passes. Great riding bike you won't be disappointed.
I just did a 600 mile ride on mine along SoCal's coast. It really is a solid machine! 🤙🤙

I love my Kymco AK 550i! It handles well and looks great!
It is a great machine! Thanks for the comment
14K for the T-MAX is just ridiculous. You can get a 2024 NT1100 DCT , or a 2024 Arica Twin, for less. Even a 2024 Forza 750 is less!
My 2023 BMW C400GT bought new has broken down twice in 12 months.
First time they didn’t know, second time fuel injector pump.
It’s working now but I won’t buy another in the future
The Honda SH-350i is made in Italy😂.
Sad!
Chinese scooter, Voge
In Canada, some mechanics call German cars "expensive garbage"
Curious about the Peugeot XP 400, particularly if the price comes down a bit. Would love to see your take on it, Bikematters
As much as I love my PCX160, I'd immediately replace it with the ADV350 if Honda would just bring it to the States!
Own a Burgman, extremely well planted and stable with executive chair comfort.
Thanks for the insight!
I love the Burgman! Great maxi scooters! Actually I plan buying one soon..
@@TheWondersOfEurope I'd recommend the latest version of 650, you might find a clean second hand.
Except that it looks like a big stupid plastic Skidoo 😂
Honda SH300i is the best scooter I have owned and ridden. I currently own an ADV350, but the SH was better around town, and scratching, yes scratching, on the back roads. Was going to get an X-ADV but the sest height was too much for me, new ine us lower so might try again.
One thing not mentioned is servicing charges. The BMW is bound to be more than the rest by some margin.
In Australia, the Kymco AK550 premium is way more powerful than the TMax Yamahaha and about $5,000 cheaper for similar features: electric screen, cornering ABS, cruise control and phone connectivity. I own one and love the AK. Now have 9000 kilometres on it.
They do look good. Cheaper TMax clone.TMax just too pricey for most.
I heard the maintenance costs for the BMW C400 GT is super high.
Nothing new, most GS riders will sell after 10,000 to 15,000 kms because of the high cost of maintenance
I think all main dealers are very expensive. Honda charge £90 for diagnostic (ECU). I think they should charge either free or £10. It just 1 minute job for small computer plug into the bike & found what is the problem.
I bought a service package, three services including the valve check - £500.
I use it to commute 126 km/ day
@@koendestercke very nice!
I'm planning on buying a forza 125 hopefully this year!
Thanks for the comment!
I couldn't recommend the BV 400 enough. Solid bike!
Think I will stick with my adv350 over the much pricier bmw. I am told it is a Kymco with bmw badges? Not sure how the bmw has made the number 1 spot as reviews for the adv350 appear more favourable.
It’s a Lincoln engine or something like that the same one that voge 400 scooter uses it’s Chinese
Adv350 way more quality built
I drove everything and I got the adv
It's copied by the Chinese (Loncin) from KYMCO, ridden both actually, the Chinese Loncin does a better job with the underseat storage as it is fixed. Performance is basically the same.
It's actually a chinese scooter
I had a c400gt for commuting and it was the most expensive bike I ever had in terms of maintenance. On top of that it is low quality and showed a lot of failures. Now I drive the xadv 750 never had and issue with it for the past 30000 km. I would say stay with the Honda 😊
Still no top box bracket for the ak550 premium, bought mine last year and still haven’t done any “touring” who wants to with backpacks?
I made my own out of lean and steel strips. Bolted on a 33 Givi box and use my AK premium all the time. The rear hand rails are only plastic so drill holes in them to take your home made rack. AK is awesome handler and fun, more powerful than Yamahaha!
Oh I love my Burgman !! So steady , so comfortable, has loooots of space even to get bunch of groceries 😅
I get two full bags of shopping under the seat and still get comfort and 70 odd mpg. AND it's not keyless.
@@peter7624 same !! And it’s so funny when people see me coming with huge bag of groceries to the scooter and then they’re like oh woooooow !
loving my Tmax 560 techmax yeah...
The problem is for me is the seat hight is to high and wide for me, I sat on the Honda ADV 350, I could just reach the road with my toes.
They are wide...
Will not go electric with a scooter. Thanks for this information…from East Tennessee.
Me too... Also from East Tennessee...
How many of the japanese scooters presented here, are still made and built in Japan?
Totally agree 👍🏿
Thanks!
Looking forward to getting my C400X next week. I found a used fully loaded one in triple black for a bit of a bargain price.
Bring the Sym to the states! We want more options dammit!
Coprende?
@artstar 5994 Well said, btw I say all new things aren't necessary, just because you can doesn't mean you should, also If you want to be even MORE invisible to the two ton cagers pick battleship gray as your next color for your scooter, you know the same color as the road your riding on so you really blend in!!🫥🤤💥 Can only hope they will be riding in high-vis gear, it may not look cool to those that only think in the short-term but neither are hospital beds/bills!!✌️🇺🇸
wish HONDA SILVERWING 600 continued production......but the HONDA FORZA 750 is well built too....
Too right!
Surprised Vespa GTS not on the list though I suppose that it may not be classed as a maxi but at 300 cc it should be
Cheers m8, great video! So far, Burgman was my favorite. One question for you, or others in the comment section. Has anyone heard of QJ Fort 350? If so, what is your opinion? Cheers!
Mon préféré le Honda Forza 750.❤ Le maxiSym est beau ,mais que vaut-il ? Le service après vente ?🤔
Merci pour une éventuelle réponse 😊
The most underated scooter was Sym maxsym 600i ABS. Cost as new 6000 euros , with huge storage , usb charger port, heated grips etc/
The TL 508 is a great scoot but the 600i just looks nasty !
Piaggio Hexagon GTS250
Pillion comfort , safety, and Honda 250cc engine. Now Cheap as chips
C400GT-I love it, but the under-seat storage needs to be better. How about a top-five 'touring' scooter list? That would be an interesting viewpoint.
Anyone remember the APRILIA SRV850 (2012 - 2016) Scooter. Always wanted one of those, but they never came to the states.
the Honda ADV 350 and 750 are not sold in the USA but the Kymco AK 550 is .
Cool vid Cool list but bra..............................You forgot to mention Zontes they have 3 37hp 350cc's & 3 new 500CC'S For 2024 model year.
You didn’t include the 3 wheel scooters like the Yamaha or the MP3 I think these Scooters offer more in someways including here in the States they do not require a Motorcycle License to operate and not to forget the additional traction of a third wheel.
Not a chance I will not buy a electric bike

Is the Beverley a maxi scooter?
I would disagree too but since it's a 300cc it would put a fight within the Maxiscooter range

Side luggage and rear top box cases can be fitted to pretty much all of these. So can lights.
Anything above 400cc with automatic transmission and under-seat storage is a maxi-scooter in my book.
@@kevinmanaloto306 Exceptions.
@@kevinmanaloto306 it is awkward territory this 'what is it?' game, TMAX is definitely a grown-up scooter cos of its looks but the Forza 750 is a motorcycle in drag, if one is allowed to say such a thing!!!

Tmax is the best scooter of all...👍👍

For me a scooter has a cvt and belt, nice and clean to use and easily replaced myself. Love the Forza 750 but the gearbox will cost a fortune eventually! Best scooter i had was an SYM but the parts were impossible to get, now use Forza 300 but they have a lot of issiues that bug me!
Voge sr4max
What about INDIAN market?
I‘m about 6‘3 ft - 1.9m. Whats the scooter to go not looking like a man on a child’s bike?
Tomos Atx. Check it.
I'm 6 foot tall, 240 lbs and the Beverly 400 S is a good fit for me.
I always considered the step through design to be an undisputable characteristic of a maxi-scooter. That line is becoming blurrier and blurrier.
Yup, apart from the Vespa GTS 300 and the Piaggio BV/Beverly 400, they all look like big plastic Skidoos.
Why is the Yamaha TMAX not sold in the USA?
I still miss having the Suzuki Burgman AN650 . In my mind the best of the super scooters.
zontes 350e, the best of price, gadgets and comfort, well worth being in any list.
Has an xmax250 and loved it but the weight of these are horrific
what about Xciting VS 400 by Kymco (34hp ~200kg) sure thing AK550 is beast but it is also 50% more expensive
Electric? Hell no.
How come the Forza doesn't get a mention even in saying why left it off list
That 80 mile range BMW is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
😱😂😂
The XMax would be a great contender for this lineup
Biggest issue with BMW C400 is the flexicase. It has to be up while riding which greatly reduces storage. Also made in China which is not ideal. For me, Piaggio Bev 400 is spot on. Great handling, excellent power to weight ratio and well priced.
The Loncin SR4 which the BMW CT400 Is based from has a fixed underseat storage different on how BMW had theirs made.
It’s made in Taiwan at kymco factory but to BMW specs. It’s fine.
XMax 300 is better option for a bit higher price. More room for sitting and two person, more storage, more legs position, better comfort overall
#2 Honda is AWESOME, Bring It To America

@@BikeMatters everyone cruises at 80 here....
Doing it and saying you do it are two very different things
Like to see what you define a Maxi Scooter as because I'd delete more than half of those on your list as the motor is less than an actual 400cc. Only three on your video I'd personally call Maxis: The Kymco AK550 Premium, The Yamaha T Max 560 and the Honda 750 ADV. All the rest are town scooters and would not tour with the likes of a touring Motorcycle like a Triumph Tiger 850. I personally own a AK 550 Premium and think it is great, blue and way better value for money than the ugly Yamaha shark face T Max.
What about the Chinese scooters zondes 350E and others
