In order to get a head start on my apartment makeover and finally get my ever-growing piles of clothes off the floor, my ex-bosses Kelsey and Becky from the Sorry Girls and I build a rolling double decker pipe clothing rack with a wood shelf for shoes. This is the perfect relatively simple DIY for my fellow rookie furniture-builders and overall just a beautiful and functional ~industrial chic~ small closet solution. Urban Outfitters Home is quaking.
MATERIALS
2’ x 4’ x 1” knotty pine
4x 36” black steel pipes (amzn.to/2DUDraE)
2x 41” black steel pipes (amzn.to/2PS9YD7)
**I used 3/4” wide pipes for extra stability and black steel for the ~aesthetic~, but you could use stainless steel or copper pipes or 1/2” pipes to reduce costs! Just be aware that 1/2” pipes might not hold heavy clothes as well, especially for this double decker design.
4x T connectors
4x flanges (bit.ly/2Vnyyld)
6x 90 degree elbow connectors (bit.ly/2VlzoPG)
8x close nipples (bit.ly/2H4J4Ea)
4x lockable wheels (bit.ly/2VjEMCG)
32x 3/4” flat head philip’s wood screws (bit.ly/2H5lVBv)
varathane mission oak gloss wood stain and poly (bit.ly/2VlHho5)
wood stain applicator or old rag (amzn.to/2YfrR1S)
latex gloves (amzn.to/2PSoYAP)
TOOLS
drill + drill bits (amzn.to/2YdWMvk)
screwdriver (amzn.to/2H8cJgL)

I feel hopelessly disadvanteged :D

ashley is the only youtuber that i will actually DROP everything to watch
Was at a climax of a kdrama, but dropped just to watch this. 100% worth it.
I literally just did that
@@gladyswong621 what kdrama was it
Im currently facetiming my friend and he told me to search for this song on UA-cam and then i saw ashley and thought "this is so much better"😂

I love her videos and i didnt know so thank youuuu

In which she has like 3/4 videos
Sakura Arukas it’s very new tho
Ashley’s videos are so aesthetic to me I watch them 90% for the editing and cinematography :’) (but also 100% for her) (190%)
we love an engineering queen who can be friends with her ex bosses 😫😫
p.s. I hope your day/night is going great, and just know that someone somewhere out there loves you a lot 💞
I love how you so subtly empower women through your channel by having a team of strong, independent females build things.
I like watching the sorry girls for the same reason. They do some hard core building on their channel!
ngl ashley could make a video of her waiting for paint to dry for an hour and i’d still be entertained
thanks!! i built it. it was hard tightening all the rods, i had to get my dad and sister to hold it down while i spun around tightening it lol.
it was also kinda pricey for in my area, i spent about $300 total, but it was exactly what i wanted and it was real materials so i think it’s worth it and will last.
i also realized that at any point you can add more T’s to make it larger and customized.
in the end it was about $300 and 10 hours total from getting supplies to putting my clothes on it. (i also painted the iron rods)
thanks for the help!!
BOB THE BUILDER WHO?🛠
mario is shaking
huh, weird to see ashley interacting with other human beings.
David broke her bed. Huehuehuehue, they going strong!
Edit: I am glad I am not the only one with my mind in gutter :)
I was just thinking that😂😂😂😂😂😂

I can literally watch Ashley’s videos over and over again and never get tired of them
2:41 ashley be honest how many times did you have to record this without laughing/making a sexual joke
haha i wonder what her reaction is when she's editing them all
2:58 You should always use protection kids. 😂 She did make a sexual reference there.
off topic but i’m so happy you picked that apartment, those windows are EVERYTHING
I LOVE THIS VIDEO.
we love a queen who can build and can be friends with her ex-bosses
I just built this and it’s ✨PERFECT✨!!! It was simple and fairly quick thanks to your clear instructions and tips. I made a few mods to fit it in my closet and I really couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Now I have space to fill with even more clothes lol. Thanks so much, girl💕
I was literally just thinking "when is Ashley going to upload?" thank you so much for your amazing videos, I love watching them when I'm not studying (which is basically never lol, law school life). Kisses from Italy xx
Margherita Bonatelli same here!
So relatable 🤣
Aw I love them together I hope they do more vids in the future

Just built this clothing rack yesterday!! I love it! I will say, the pipes and connectors were a lot more expensive than I expected (I think the total was close to $200 for everything) but it works great and looks greater ❤️❤️ Definitely know what you mean by that pipe geometry problem though 😫
THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN’T DO. Love you threeeee 🤩 and wow I can’t believe you worked together before!!!
it kind of bothers me your second channel isn’t called bestmessed but apart from that i just LOVE all your content
girl, i don’t even wanna KNOW how much time that description took. the effort 😭 👏🏻
Please do a video where you finally organize your house!!
im OBSESSED with ashley! who else? 😍🌈

I just subbed to your channel! Let’s support each other?:)
ps i’m also a youtuber! let’s support each other!!
Support for support anyone? 💕
ellainemarie21 just subbed girl:)
I shit you not, I was just thinking yesterday how I wanted to make a clothing rack, then my fav youtuber comes through with this, thanks ashley!
What a strong independent young woman who is extremely talented and funny and cool and creative and who am I kidding I'm finally early to a video! I haven't even watched it yet but I already know this video is awesome
this is great timing bc i'm moving and i can finally get myself a clothing rack, but all of the ones i've found aren't my style or they have less than stellar ratings, and i'm not spending that kinda cash on something i'm not totally psyched about! so obviously the best thing to do is to DO IT YOURSELF~
it's 12am from where I am & I have work in a few hours but it's gravely important that I learn how to build a clothing rack
Probably the only UA-camr I will ever watch make furniture. She make's everything fun
I'm being honest, I was watching Ashley the entire day and here she is with a new amazing video!!! Love you, girl!!
She's has been a major inspiration for my UA-cam channel. She is really relatable, and I'm also trying to be a hard working UA-camr like her!!
This is so beautiful! Would you be comfortable sharing how much all your materials cost?
Is anyone else trying to cram for AP exams right now 😳😳 still gonna watch this though
Totally forgot they didn’t live in LA until Becky got excited about seeing the Hollywood sign
Sooooo many innuendos
also your BF broke your bed????? Good job sailor
They were moving it around and he slammed it into a doorway
I like re-watching this now that I've watched the Sorry Girls content and know them more. Like now I can truly appreciate this collab😊
MY TWO FAVORITE CHANNELS COLLABING?
This is the best day of my life.
the fact you linked everything is insane to me. the dedication is incredible
Both of your pipe clothing racks are beautiful! I'm just over here with my $12 IKEA rack that's slowly tilting to one side lmao
Wow i feel BLESSED to have seen this collab, i have been a fan of both you and the sorry girls for a while and it is really awesome to see you guys finally film something together. Both you and them are really great UA-camrs who consistently put out original and interesting content and I love y’all
I may or may not have accidentally played this out loud in my class...love you ashley!
I love how this didn't go perfect like all tutorials on youtube, but still made it work perfectly
me: oh i have to sleep before 12
**ashley uploads**
also me: uhm maybe tomorrow??? 😅
I literally needed this video because I want a clothing rack for my room, LOVE you 💛!
omg I love the fact that Im subscribed to both of you guys and got both notifications at the same time IM SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED ❤❤
I'm not planning on actually building this, but still need to watch your videos😆
The countdown you made in your instagram story, yeah, I put it on a setting for it to remind me of your new video. Well, anyways I love you and your videos. You inspire so much Ashley, thanks!
Was already here watching all of Ashley's vids when subs were only at 50k++. So proud of how fast this channel is going!!
YESSSS!!!! i saw the videos you edited on their channel, and i could see the ashley style editing through them
I absolutely LOVE your little denim overall shorts for a Home Depot diy project!!!!!! 😱😱😱😍😍😍 They’re in style but I’ve never liked them until now! They totally fit the vibe and we’re adorable. I so want some now!!
"Penetrating wood stain" lmao HAHAHAHA you're the only youtuber i will never get tired watching, sending love from Philippines! 💖🇵🇭
Sofhia Docot im from the philippines too!
I am sooooo excited right now! I only watch 2 channels AND THEY JUST DID A COLLABORATION!
*WoOooOw! i definitely feel like i should go to the hardware store and build something*
I love that whenever Ashley makes a bad pun or joke, she says after "oh gosh" and you can hear her instantly regret it
Omigod I’m early yes I am so exited
Thank you you beautiful soul for brightening my day every time you post!
Also your overalls are adorable :)
Omg I remember watching one of your old videos; when you were making the faux wall and you mentioned you worked for them!! I was soo excited when I heard that!
I just watched your room tour and I loooved the clothing rack you made so I am so happy about this upload✨✨✨
this is my project for this month during quarantine! thank u ashley for being inspiring!!
Next up: Ashley builds a stylish 5-tier shoe rack
Two of my FAVORITE UA-camrs! I’ve been waiting for this to happen for so long :) You girls didn’t disappoint. Loved both the videos. The Sorry Girls are such amazing people. And Ashley, from building that Sorry Girls inspired Faux brick (foam) wall in your previous apartment to collaborating with the Sorry Girls to DIY a clothing rack...I feel like a proud mama.
That first email is actually really really good and you have my respect
hi ashley !! i just want to let you know, you've been such an inspiration to me since i discovered your channel for the first time ! love from france ❤️
I still can’t believe it!! My favorite youtuber have been editing the videos of the number one DIY channel...
m i n d b l o w n
Am i the only one who just geniuenly smiles every time Ashley uploads a video?
WE NEED THE SOUP RECIPE FROM LIVING WITHOUT MY PHONE (love you!)
Holy!!! I just can’t! The sorry girls and you are my favorite youtubers! I mean I watch you all the time and just your videos! I love how Becky and Kelsey are redecorating dorm rooms or places like they are just transforming everything in better! And you Ashley, you make me happy all the time and you are such a model for me. I appreciate that you are honest with us, about life, relationships, university and all... can’t wait to watch this video, I will probably die till the end. I love you girls soo much! Keep doing this forever ❤️❤️❤️
this vlog is resourceful to me ❤️ thank you ashley, luv u 💘💗
I've grown to be so obsessed with ashley's videos that I'll stop doing work to watch them. So today I saw this video was up and made it a reward for finishing an online assignment. Is this productive?? maybe. Do i still have much much more to do though?? absolutely.
So how much did everything cost for the clothes rack
my question exactly!
So I was thinking of doing this DIY and I added all the accessories to my cart on home depot's website and just that without the wood or pipes is coming out to $86 so just like screws, nipples, elbows and all that
@@angie8d2000 realized it's just as expensive either way, so i just ended up buying one already made. Saved myself the extra work lol
I just left Home Depot and I spent $145... returning everything and buying one
$200.....
i just love how everything in ashley’s life comes full circle like ofc she worked for them and now made a video with them like what amazing
My inspiration queen uploaded so I have to leave everything I was doing to watch clothing racks
Awesome job. Just a quick heads up that you will want to clean and then clear coat the pipe for long term use (it will eventually rust otherwise when the light oil coating wears off).
I'VE NEVER BEEN THIS EARLY OOF GONNA DO THIS MORE OFTEN FOR MAH FAV
i love this!! it rly shows the process and mishaps along the way and you're hilarious as always!! would love to see you do a vid abt your denim pants and skirts or just all abt pants bc its rly hard to find pants that fit well. would love to know where you buy your pants and how u choose them. 💕
next episode on bestdressed: ashley struggles with furniture yet again (building a giant shoe rack)
ashley im about to have a breakdown in the comment section but honestly thank you so much for everything you. every time im in a rut i just watch one of your videos and suddenly get so much energy. suddenly feel like i can finish this exam revision or maybe build something or idk feel like i should be more independent. ur a role model/meme model who just gives me a lil bit of energy when i need it the most and also thank u for making me feel like we are friends even tho u kno :')
I just built this! I love the idea and it looks great, but I wish I had realized that dresses don’t really fit on it. I was going to use this to house my vintage clothes (mostly dresses!) I will make it work, though! It is a very expensive project, I will most likely make another “single decker” rack soon. The base of mine seems a lot bigger than the one in the video even though I used all the same measurements, and you should have specified that you used #12- 3/4” wood screws! I had to screenshot and zoom in to figure out the type of screw. Overall this video did motivate me to build something all by myself and it turned out great! Thank you!
wow! didnt even notice how much uve blown up!! so excited to see ur genuine and hard work is paying off
I THOUGHT IT SAID EX-BOYFRIEND FOR A SEC AND I WAS SO SCARED OMG
love this video! also thanks for posting earlier, like it used to be - now in Europe I can watch it on thursday evening, not on friday morning
Thank you for this! I’m planning on building something similar for my filming room! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
OMG I WAS WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS COLLAB the reason I discovered Ashley because of the sorry girls omg this makes me so happy
I don’t really need to know how to build a clothing rack but... I see Ashley, I CLICK!
high key IMPRESSED rn 🖤
honestly??? ashley ur everything i aspire to be and every time i watch your videos i get so deeply excited about life and the future and existence and it's such a stark contrast to how my thoughts and feelings used to be when my mental health was worse and sjkhdjdfhs thanks man
OH MY GOD!!! I found out about them because I was binge watching all of your videos and you mentioned them in a really old one. So I started watching all of their videos and I didn't know you actually met them haha
No one:
Literally no one:
Ashley: *YOU SHOULD ALWAYS USE PROTECTION KIDS*
that one song you use (life could be a dream) is so funny to me because that was a song we used for tango in my social dance class (basically just learning ballroom dancing) and it’s so weird to hear it in a video but also I love it
Love your videos! I really appreciate you always being so honest and humble❤️ hope u have a nice day
Those overalls are literally so adorable on you aaaaa
