    This video is SO timely for me! I have 6 orchids (one for almost 9 years). Several are very "leggy" and I knew something needed to be done, I just didn't know what or how. This video answered all my questions. Thank you! I will definitely keep watching.

    Thank you so much Dany!!! ♥️
    I had an orchid in care from my grandma for more than 2 months endlessly spraying with water which (now I know) had a too long neck!
    I couldn’t figure out how to rescue it since I didn’t now it’s totally normal for phals to develop like that. It was totally dehydrated since all prior roots in the media were too old. Though I saw a lot of new roots developing further up in the stem 🥰😍
    Now I just cut all the old parts and repotted it in new media. The aerial roots are in the media as well (I hope they will adapt)
    I‘m such a big fan of your channel. Since than I’m an orchid lunatic and establishing my very own collection. Thank you for all the perfect information as well as your ‚mantra‘ „just do what YOU want to do with your orchids. In the end it’s a hobby and you have to feel good about it“. 🌸♥️

    Thank you! I don't know if you saw my PM over on Facebook or if this is a coincidence, but this is just what I needed. I've started rescuing orchids from my neighborhoods and some of them look like this. Thank you for all the info you share, it's sooo helpful!

    I've been following your channel for years and, after murdering two mini phals, I bought a big one about 2.5 years ago. I think I recently overwatered it and I'm not entirely sure what state she's in, BUT she's growing a flower spike! Not sure if it's a last ditch effort, or if she's doing okay (her last leaf was very small) but I am excited regardless! Just wanted to share my excitement!

    It's wonderful to 👀 these informative videos about how to actually handle phals with long old stems...Most orchid care videos & 📚 don't actually go into detail about this subject even though every phalaenopsis owner needs to know this because eventually any phal will experience this as it ages.This info will really help as the years go by because nobody wants to 💭 they have to throw away a old prized orchid simply because it's got a long unruly stem.These orchids can live many years with reasonably good care💚.

    A orchid was purchased blooming white. I've just now happily seen a reblooming. Except it is now yellow, with a lovely pink center. Is there an explanation, beyond my delight?

    • @CrochetxStab
      @CrochetxStab 2 роки тому +1

      I experienced a similar phenomena with my Phalaenopsis. Unless I swapped labels by mistake, I am fairly certain I cut an old flower spike off of it what was purple and it is now re-blooming white. It’s still gorgeous, so I’m not mad. My best guess is the fact that they’re complex hybrids with somewhat unstable genetics. No idea if it will last, so just enjoy it.

    Thanks Danny, as others said, just in time. I have a few orchids that need this treatment. But I notice one that looks like the internal roots are the only ones in the pot and then the aerials ones are the one coming from the younger stam, how should I treat the roots in this case. I'm afraid to kill the orchids. Again thanks for the information, always helpful

    Thank you Danny for this very informative video 🤗. I do have an older orchid that I repotted almost 2 years ago. She’s starting to shed the 2 lower leaves. She has literally done nothing since she was repotted (no new leaves, no flower spikes) but her leaves are beautiful. Could this be the reason of her being so quiet ? Should I risk repotting her and cutting part of the stem ? Thanks for your help 🙏

  • @purplethumb7887

    Well done! Great video. I would have also removed the lower two to three leaves that are beginning to yellow, as those will not recover (become green again).

    Hi Danny, did you add the slow release fertiliser because you are out of the repot me dilutable or because you use slow release fertiliser AND the dilutable one? Thank you for your videos ☺️

  • @otisschroeder9790
    @otisschroeder9790 2 роки тому +3

    You may have already mentioned this in another video, but I know you use the slow release fertilizer for most, if not all of your orchids. Is that the only fertilizer you use? Or do you supplement on occasion with liquid fertilizer? I’ve just recently switched to the repotme slow release and so far so good. It does say it’s ideal for a stand-alone fertilizer but I wonder if it’s enough since Ive only added it to the top of the medium (not exactly near most of the roots) and tap it down where possible. Plus it says it’s good for about 4 months and I notice you add it yearly - but that may vary by brand. Thanks as always for another great video!😊

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  2 роки тому +2

      Hi, I do use water soluble ferts too but a bit rare now. The reason for the slow release was because I was running out of MSU and I cannot import it anymore. But I used them both in tandem and all was well! If you type in the searchbar 'missorchidgirl slow release fertilizer' you'll find my video on it, I talk more about it there ☺️🧡

    Thank you so much! This is very informative for a beginner like me. I was wondering, would it ever be a good idea to cut off some of the older leaves at the base of the stem? I have one orchid with very large leaves drooping over one side, and it tips the pot over. I thought removing some leaves when repotting might make it more stable in its new pot.

      I have repotted if needed when in bloom, but blooms don't last as long. I think it's better in the long run for health of your orchid if you repot it now if it really needs it.
