I have tried to watch tutorials on other channels but I haven't found any that captivate me like yours do. Your videos are easy to follow and understand and are so helpful!!! Thank you so much Danny!
Wonderful! This is such perfect timing! I got my first paph recently and I’m waiting to repot until the flower fades. It’s potted high in the pot, and the pot is opaque black, so I can’t wait to repot! Thank you for such a great video!
My first orchid ever was a paph, I kept looking at one at my local greenhouse and my boyfriend surprised me with it for valentines. Now I have eight… Also, I discovered your channel when I was looking for how to care for that first paph!
Yay paphs! Love the video. Tyvm for doing another video on them. I just got some pots and media from repotme and watching this video is inspiring me to repot my slippers. Ty for the awesome content!
I like a mix of bark with a little sphagnum, and some wood charcoal. The charcoal seems to really help - maybe it helps prevent the mix from going acid.
Your videos on Paphs inspire me - I slowly lost a couple years back and now I know that I needed to pot them lower in the pot so the new roots would grow. I'm going to look to get some more! Next I need to learn more about Phragmipediums and Oncidiums!
@@MissOrchidGirl I've really been enjoying watching your videos. I moved a couple of years ago and due to healing from an injury and various "getting older" ailments, some of my poor orchids haven't been re-potted for years! Fortunately they love my new climate and the Phals just don't stop blooming. Now that I have more humidity (and have learned more about some of the genera), I'm excited about trying new things! I appreciate your kindness. :)
Great timing I just bought 2 Paph a couple days ago should I repot them now I live in Canada the weather start to get cold or should I wait until Spring.
I ordered my first paph. (Paph. Yi-Ying Santa Claus - In Spike) 2 days ago and I can't wait to receive it! It looks so prety on the nursery website... let's hope I don't kill it somehow! That's why I'm doing my homeworks and reserching on paph. as much as possible before I get it!
Thank you for another super useful video! You’ve inspired me to try paphs again. I noticed the Bellina you showed has a black leaf tip. I have the same thing on a mini phal. Would you please tell me the cause of the black tip?
I have a plain green leaf paph. My only one. It looks healthy and has grown 2 new fans but no sign of any flowers? Any tips to encourage blooming? Or just more patience!
Thanks dani btw my first paph is paph philippinense , and suddenly the leaves continued to blacken till no fans has left, may i know if you know the culprit of it?
I have a little Paph. argus, that for some reason, has started growing a new fan like half way up the axis of the older growth. I can see that it has tried to grow a couple of new roots and then aborted them, obviously because they are well above the medium. But to get the base of the new growth into the medium, I would have to repot and bury multiple leaves of the older growth, so I’m scared of causing stem rot. Ever seen this before? Any suggestions? 🤔
Probably should have watched the whole video before posting this; you kinda answered my question. 🥴🤦🏻♂️ Will try to use more bark at the top to reduce chance of rotting the older growth.
I’m close to repotting my paph Petula’s Wood and have a general question. She bloomed, but the top petal stayed in a kind of hooded position instead of standing straight. Is this normal for some paphs?
Hey! Plz help! I found mealy bugs on a few of my orchids and have treated them all. How long till its safe to put them near others again? And do you know how far the bugs will/can travel?
I really like the amount of knowledge that you share with us and I can see that you have invested a lot in your filming gedgets too. But, it may be better that you have a different top on ao that the colours of the plants/ flowers can stand out better. 😊
Question: when you use slow release fertilizer on an orchid, do you still water with MSU regularly on top of that? (Ex: 4 - 1 without)? I used slow release on a phaius, but not sure if I should fertilize on top of that.
Ma'am, is it correct to call Ladies Slipper Orchid also as Cyprepedium? How does a cyprepedium differ from paphiopedilum? Are they related? Can they be cross-bred?
Hi, Cypripediums are a different genus of orchids, but they are related. We still call them slipper orchids, just like Phragmipediums and Paphiopedilums ☺️

There were wild lady slippers in our orchard when I was a kid.

Gracias Danny !!

OMG! This is so useful! I've just bought 3 paphiopedillums! So thanks a lot!
I like the beatiful colors on this video😌😌😌

I absolutely appreciate your in depth videos! It definitely helps and makes orchid growing more enjoyable! ❤
Your videos make me comfortable with growing orchids thank you
Great information. What a beautiful orchid. Thank you Dani.🤗🌞
Thanks Danny, it’s instructive and interesting, I found those small paphiopedilum very attractive.

@@saraira I'm sorry you have an issue with my spelling error - at least I can go fix it!
@r Funny, cos you have a spelling mistake...
@Carol D. Glad my video helped! Just for the record, spelling mistakes are ok with me 👍

This was such a great video but I was distracted by your awesome hoodie! Where can I get one?!
Yep just like Julia said, they were limitted edition for humanitarian causes. Maybe we'll do a new one this year 😁

I would like to know too since I have the same problem.

I think more patience will do it, these things take time... My mislabeled rothscildianum took 4 years 😱 got him as a young one though lol
Great tutorial. I enjoyed watching. 🤗👏🌴🌸

What cultivar was the species at the 5:18 min mark ??? That foliage was crazy awesome :P
Danny..what is the granular fertilizer you use? Thanks!
Hi Danny, my phalaenopsis orchid fell down from a table and broke its crown. I put cinnamon on the orchid but I don't know what will happen to it.
I’m close to repotting my paph Petula’s Wood and have a general question. She bloomed, but the top petal stayed in a kind of hooded position instead of standing straight. Is this normal for some paphs?
What were the restrictions you were speaking of with the soil mix?

Do you spray the leaves on the slipper please dani
What if a root passes infront of one of the holes on the side? Does it stop growing in the pot ?

Hi, yes I still used MSU... Currently I ran out and I use some local brands until it becomes available in EU 😔
Do you cut the stems once the flower fades?
Some paphs continue blooming on the same stem, some don't. If you can't figure out which kind you have, I'd leave the stem until it starts to die off.
Mine has dark roots...couldn't tell if any were dead...just let them be and gave it new media
💚💚

does anyone know the ID of the plant at 5:15
I can't remember, but I do know that she has mentioned it in other videos if that helps. Good luck. :)
Oops forgot to add the tag, it's an Oeceoclades spathulifera ☺️
What is the reason to wear gloves? Is it go keep your hands clean or the plants?
Makes me want to also repot my orchids, they're not slipper orchids though.sad.
It’s so sad how mine instantly died lmaoo. It was a gift from my mother and she was so sad because I usually don’t kill my plants 🥴😩
Bro what...
Hehe you have a tattoo 🙂
