Unpopular opinion, but I miss when you and Becky would do videos together. I love that your channel is growing and you are able to do your own videos (and I understand the necessity as well) but I would still like to see videos of both of you together as well on this channel.
I get the vibe they don't really get along as well anymore. Which could be why they don't make video together as much. Butttt that's just an opinion from a random person 😂
Making oils101, oil is heated to just simmer then turn off immediately and let herbs infuse (hence ‘infused oil’) until cool and then filter and decant. A tasty recipe is 1 tsp dried rosemary, oregano, basil, 1 tsp garlic and a pinch of chilli flakes❤️✨
Is what I did to make garlic oil. I ended up sort of frying the garlic bits, and gifted the oil in small bottles. I worked like a charm and tasted amazing. :)
One of my favorite go-to wedding gifts is taking Pyrex/other glass baking dish and etching the couple’s new name + wedding date or “est. 20xx” on it with etch cream. Has always gone over well and no excuses for losing your casserole dish at a potluck 😂 So many uses with etch cream!!
Guys I’m Italian, and we use olive oil basically in everything. But one thing I know is that you don’t have to use oil after it is cooked (or if it reaches boiling temperatures) because it can be very toxic! Check with the one you used! (You still can do infused oil, you can add your herbs and let it rest for a couple of weeks at room temperature)
You could also load the herbs and cold oil into the clean bottles - then warm the full bottles in a pan of water to speed up infusion. But certainly just sitting at room temperature will do the trick.
@@livelongandprospermary8796 you're not supposed to boil it and let it rest for days to use later, that's what's wrong about it. you can just infuse the olive oil with herbs inside a bottle and let it rest at room temperature, it will get the flavour on its own without boiling
My mum makes spicy olive oil (its perfect to put on pizza). She puts some chili pepper, garlic, black pepper... in a bottle, fills it with the oil and lets it sit for some days/weeks. It's really easy, you just need a bottle with a cap that doesnt let the herbs out and you can put anything you feel like or have around!
and that is an actual way to make olive oil with addings. The way Kelsey did it is actually wrong, bc you shouldn't apply heat to the olive oil if you're not cooking with it at the moment. Cold infusion has way better taste and also is way healthier. Your mum nailed it :)
Just to clarify -- the bacteria which causes botulism is primarily found in soil. The risk of using fresh herbs/garlic is that they can be contaminated with spores which then thrive because of the water released in the oil. So use caution when preparing something intended to be stored for a while with fresh herbs and especially garlic.
I've used the etching cream for years. I was taught that after the etching time has passed, the excess can be scraped off and put back in the bottle before washing off the surface. It does save etching cream, since it can be expensive, and can last longer.
Loved everything! Great ideas! Small idea, for the oils you can add a sprig of Herb, you’re using, eg. Rosemary, basil, garlic glove, coloured peppers… Advice, after sterilization of the jars put them in a hot oven to dry out, 250. By blow drying you contaminated the jars. Enjoy you both! You could pair one olive with a balsamic vinegar that’s what I have done. I also have made my own vinegars too.
I don’t know how you guys make it but I’m always skeptical about your choices (like I was rooting for the square pallet) but you always make it work perfectly and I end up loving it more than my original choices
I love you guys, i have had a particularly rough year with one of my family members having cancer and your videos always chered me up a bit and gave me a release. Thank you for just being your gorgeous beautiful entertaining selves ❤❤❤
Love your videos! But be careful with the olive oil, I'm Italian and we often make "olio aromatizzato", like basil oil, garlic oil or pepper oil. However you shouldn't cook the oil unless you use it straight away, because cooked oil is bad for your health, we call it "olio esausto" that literally means "tired oil", we usually dispose of it as special waste (it's illegal to pour it down the sink or throw it in the regular garbage etc.) . You just need to put your dried herbs in the oil and the trick is done, you can use fresh herbs but it's a little bit trickier because you have to let them dry our for some days usually in a place that is well ventilated and dark. I wouldn't try it with fresh herbs anyways, it really needs to be done properly. Anyway, other than that loved the coasters and I just adore your office!
In college (in the industrial design department) for warming up clay, we would stick it in a sealable bag and place inside a crockpot with warm water. That way you could spend your time and strength sculpting instead of warming the clay. Just be sure to have a separate crockpot so you don't get clay in your cooking!
For the eyelets on the frame, I would bend the inside piece into an L to be sure it doesn’t come out while it’s hanging! Sometimes hot glue doesn’t always last and with a glass frame I’d worry. These were all amazing and now I REALLY want to etch some glass! 😂
The first project with the etching cream is how I made a chess board for my parents!! You can make the peices with polymer. I stylized mine with resin and crystal molds off Amazon.
Wow!!!! Usually these “Make good DIY gifts!” videos I wouldn’t actually make but this one finally did it! I’m gona be making all of these for people for Xmas!!!!

Btw, for herbal flavoured oils, you do not need to cook them. Just dump dried herbs into a jar and cover with oil. You only need to cook them when you want them flavoured IMMEDIATELY. With the cover & sit method, you can either strain in a few weeks or actually just leave the herbs in!
also, oil preserves things great. it probably won't go bad ever. side note, from a spanish extra virgin olive oil only consumer (as every mediterranean), here oil is usually infused cold, just by letting it stay day after day. we would use big rosemary or thyme branches along with whole garlic cloves that will stay in the bottle the whole time, oil bottles usually have a dispenser that won't let these come out. so yeah, it is that easy. I hope it helps! 💖
