This video, as well as the ones coming this Thursday and next week, were filmed pre-lockdown in Toronto. We're all working from home now, so stay safe!
The silk pillow case helps to prevent wrinkles, I'm not exactly sure if it reduces them :) it helps cause the silk pillow case is VERY slippery in comparison to a cotton one, so you skin doesn't pull like it does on cotton :) so when you move around at night your skin glides over the fabric and doesn't wrinkle you as much
There are certain bugs that don't like lavender, so go for it!
Christmas video idea: DIY Christmas ornaments with materials found around your home. A good one for lockdown. My roommates and I made some fun ones using beer cans :P
Even when cases were rising, you were working in the office without social distancing and without masks. Why are you promoting such selfish behaviour? This included your last video where someone helped you build that glass wall.
@@heartlesspuddingcup they live alone / with their boyfriend and only went out for essentials. They're also work colleagues and basically house mates as well. It's not the end of the world for them to be close. And they're clearly wearing a mask in this video when outside. Go yell at those people gathering families for the holidays
Soil tip! Cut down on weight and space in your package by sending soil pucks or "jiffies"-- basically dehydrated, condensed soil tablets. The expand when you add water, and would be perfect for the plant lover gift!
Isn’t that coco coir? I’ve heard that’s not ideal because they don’t have any nutrients which would mean you need to add fertiliser too
@@klaaskingma7435 No, it's a different type of product, not coconut based. Look up Jiffy Soil. Basically little pucks of soil used for seed starting. Might need fertilizer down the road, but would be perfect for a seed starting gift like the one in the video!
@@hey_hi_its_Lynz ok. Thanks. I’m not familiar with that. I know here we get those coco coir pucks
What about a foldable container? So you could mail everything flat?
I'm not gonna read through all the comments but incase no one else has mentioned it:
To anyone thinking of posting seeds/soil to friends and family abroad- there are very strict restrictions and licences (such as phytosanitary certificates) in place to prevent 'invasive' plant, pathogens and bug species entering countries.
I think a red velvet scrunchie would be cuter!
She did do a velvet scrunchie lol
I was waiting for her to make a scrunchie with the velvet fabric, darn, no such thing.
@@ElisabethGaffney no she didn’t...
Heck yeah. I’m gonna make a velvet one :D
I really don't get the giant scrunchie...how do you wear that? 🤷♀️
It's important to know when making fashion face masks that you don't use fleece. Other decorative fabrics appear to be fine, but because of the fibers of fleece, it can actually aerosolize anything coming out of your mouth (virus) and can actually lend to the spreadability of covid-19.
Just a little PSA. =]
I would recommend using two layers of cotton underneath your fashion fabric as well. Fleece actively makes things worse, but other fashion fabrics may not be as effective anyways
@@Codeexcited definitely.
Nylon is the same!
My main complaint is that jersey weave cotton is not as dense and protective as high end plain weave cotton. If your tshirt has stretch, it's probably not a plain weave. Also, the government of canada recommends 3 layers for a mask, so double up! The best cotton you can buy as a home DIYer is high threadcount 100% cotton bedding (pillow cases or sheets).
CBC marketplace Testing face masks: lab tests reveal safest and most effective ua-cam.com/video/EHVyy08L2gM/v-deo.html
Becky your french braids are absolutely PERFECT I was just staring at them the whole video lol
Same 😂
Can we just take a moment and appreciate how Kelsey took her time and wrote all of those recipe cards 💓
I love this idea! I love that creators are encouraging responsible actions
Absolutely 💯
Making a mask without a filter isn’t a responsible idea. All the other options are good!
Wreaths, everyone in the office make one and we vote
Yes!!! I love it when Kelsey made wreaths last year for her grandma, and I'd love to see more content with wreaths!
Id laminate the recipe cards so they dont get all soggy being in the kitchen
Exactly what I was going to suggest!
There would be bubbles around the pictures because they are too thick.
@@vicegrip0320 A quick fix might to be to use a different photo printer that doesn't use the Polaroid film(?) and then to run the cards through twice. I'd rather have some minor bubbling that can be handled with damp hands than to not be able to touch the cards while cooking. Just a thought!
Maybe mod podge them? Or acrylic spray
You could inset the picture to avoid it not being flat but would have to laminate second card to back. Definitely a great suggestion,,
Loved the video :). For your hearing impaired/ hard of hearing viewers it would be wonderful to have your videos readable by adding subtitles. As a media and design company this is great to use to to grow your audience and think about all types of viewers who may want to watch but can’t. The beginning was great bc you are wearing masks but should be great to type it on for the whole video and give your audience the option to put them on or not. Thank you :) (comment was written before CC was available)
there's a cc option in the video
@@hannahm5585 the problem is, the automated CC aren’t super accurate. Something to keep in mind! I’m hearing and don’t need them. But it’s definitely important to be aware of as a creator.
Edit: personally I can’t afford to do have CC done for my podcast but I do try to make minor edits to the automated captions to make sure there aren’t blatant errors.
@@sarastrives luckily they can run their business as they see fit, and make decisions based on what's economical for them, and likewise you are free to run your business as you see fit :)
@@Wandering.Homebody I mean obviously... but they are content creators and they need feedback. This person is just saying that they are losing out on an audience who wants to watch their videos but can’t. It’s economical to fix that, and besides, it’s just. Accessibility should be a no brainer... why is this something you feel the need to be passive aggressive about lol.
@@adamsackman6184 because these things, if done well, require a shit-ton of work, and hours and hours of fiddly labour, so yeah, I can see how it may easily not be worth it. Just, oh well. Small businesses can probably never be fully inclusive, it's just like that, so there will likely always be an audience that they might otherwise be able to reach also, but wont. Their priority is clearly DIY content creation, not language. It's always easy to armchair criticise, hence my mild irritation and impulse to comment.
The pipe cleaner in the mask is a GREAT TIP to replace in an existing mask. Thanks so much !!
The red velvet face mask could be problematic because of the moisture it takes in. The lady at the fabric store said the same about flannel.
I would also be concerned about the weave. I think it could work as a three layer mask with two layers of cotton and then the outside layer as velvet.
@@Codeexcited yeah, I think a cool idea would be mask overlays that people could accessorize with different masks they already have
@@Codeexcited using t-shirt cotton is also less effective than woven cotton with a high thread count, kinda bummed about that. At least leave space for a filter
@@Sakura11101 you know there's a pocket in the middle there... right? You CAN put an extra filter. I've made literally dozens of these this year.
@@veronicavatter6436 I'm aware. She didn't specify in the video to leave a space open, nor did she mention the pocket for the filter, though, so people recreating this might not know. Most people end up using masks without the additional filters, anyway.
Honestly wouldn't mind a DIY: kitchen baking holiday edition 😭✨
were just gonna pretend that Canada post shipping won't cost more then the actual gift
I remember you guys searching for your tree last year and making a stocking for each member of the TSG team. 🥺
When sorry girls are here to save your 2020 Christmas 🎄 😍
Can you guys do some zero waste gifts? All the ones online are the same old "reusable napkins and bamboo toothbrush" that have been overdone. I'd love to see your take on it!
Becky, is like the sweetest person. I love to watch her. She is so down to earth.
And Kelsey is like in a playful kooky mood. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
Kelsey’s idea of taking cards and having her grandma write the recipes is great! Because having the recipes in her handwriting will be even more special. I have one of my grandma’s recipes in her handwriting and every time I see it, it reminds me of her.
Recipe cards are the best idea. I might just put one in each Christmas card. Kelsey, if your grandmother can write without pain, you will one day appreciate the recipes in her handwriting.
I love your channel. I’m much older than you and an experienced sewist. The pillowcase and the scrunchy would have been much easier and better finished with French seams. Not a criticism- just a suggestion for an easy upgrade to your sewing. Just check out French seams on Google or UA-cam.
I also usually see the short ends first and leave a small opening for turning on the long edge seam. It’s easier to conceal the top stitching or do a short invisible hand stitch after the elastic is in place.
I was thinking the same-French seams. 😘
I was thinking the same thing! It would save so much time on the pillowcase, rather than doing rolled hems AND sewing it 😅
A video idea is what to give guys for Christmas bc honestly they can be difficult to shop/diy for. Maybe ideas for a friend, dad, brother, boyfriend, etc.
Yes! I never know what to get my dad. Like, they have to get sick of aftershave gift sets, right? 🤣
I agree. Men and older boys are difficult to buy gifts for.
I would LOVE to receive a recipe booklet like that! Especially for some holiday cocktails 🥰
I love these ideas but the scrunchie looks like a saggy diaper 😂 I think it needs more structure somehow...
Im so glad someone else thought the same thing LOL
I thought the scrunchie was gonna be matching red velvet!
Thicker elastic, like 3/4” to 1” should do the trick
Why the hell would you pick that color 🤨
For the pillowcase, a french seam is a good way to save time and effort if working with delicate fabrics. Basically you sew wrong sides together then flip and sew right sides together to encase the raw edges in one seam. Its also less bulky, just a quick tip 🙃
Came here to comment this! French seams over rolled every time - it also gives a really clean, neat finish!
Kelsey sounds like she's talking about very specific people "either your friend that's a foodie or the one that spends all their money on food delivery" 😭
Poor Angela lol
I love the little recipe cards. Currently I use a little cookbook in wich you can hand write recipes, but after 17 years it is falling apart. And as I happen to be in the middle of renovating my kitchen, this idea comes at a perfect timing! Thank you so much for this great content.
Excellent idea for Grandmas recipes! It will be extra special in her handwriting. So sorry I did not get more of my grannys recipes!
I am blown away as per usual, not only on how you perform the DIY that is impeccable everytime, but I am obsessed about these ideas, what a nice thought to send presents, and how creative were you choices.
Sara Nena DIY
use distilled water for the lavender spray!! it might grow bacteria if you don't
Adding vodka helps with this as well, 80 proof. 😊
When Kelsey at the end of every diy figure it out, that it would be great gif from her to her. 🤣 love it! ❤
I’d like to see some ideas on how to decorate the front of your house. There’s videos of this kind of thing, but not eco friendly or modern. They all seem very plastic heavy.
Was I the only one who noticed how beautiful Canadian postboxes are!!?!?
When the tree was going in your trunk I swear I could literally smell it
That's a form of psychic ability. Called Olfactory Clairvoyance.
I love that Kelsey made herself a gift bundle. 🤣😂 you have a silk pillow case now girl!
I would definetly hope someone make the plant one to me or the levende one.
"Tomatoes are easy to grow ."

I've grown a lot of tomatoes in South Florida lol

Thank you for the idea of pictures with grandma. My mom is gone now but I have grandchildren and I want to leave memories for them. I love you girls. You make me so happy every time your on and I like to keep learning even now. God Bless you and your families. Happy Thanksgiving
Ouuu please do a gift guide!! I’d love to hear some of your picks for the people in your life especially because you guys are pro small business and sustainably minded!
LOL “you just got scienced” 🤣
Omg. You guys... correction, you ladies... are always so inspiring. Been watching you for years and can’t believe how far you’ve come. 🥺☺️🤗❤️🌸
I would worry about the scrunchie ear pieces on the mask being really uncomfortable. I made my masks with ties that go around my head and tie into a bow because all the ones with ear pieces hurt after a while.
Then you’re getting masks that are too small for you, they shouldn’t hurt if they fit right and the smaller bands tend to be more uncomfortable, the scrunches would probably work really well actually
Always wear s filter inside or it won’t have any use
This video brought tears to my eyes because I haven’t felt very Christmassy this year because I won’t be seeing my family for the first time this Christmas. When you guys set up the tree and the music played while you decorated my heart fluttered because it made me feel in the spirit for the first time. Thank you ❤️
Red ribbon would of looked real cute for the velvet mask. Get that whole Christmas vibe!
The giant scrunchie is really weird lol, I skipped past when Becky was talking about it and saw the finished product and had no idea what it was haha.. why is it soo big??
If you google giant scrunchie, they're actually a pretty popular hair accessory trend, at least in the fashion community, right now.
@@principessa3x just googled it, there are big scrunchies but the one they made is just so enormous haha and the fabric they used is weird for a scrunchie
@@principessa3x doesn't mean you should though 😂😂
@@melk675not really transparent scrunchie is kinda a thing now and people would even embroider or add tiny decorations inside to make it look better (www.pinterest.com/pin/281543716190613/ - here's one of them)
@@adelineyu_ yeah, the scrunchie you linked is cute. It has structure so it isn't floppy and isn't too big haha, the one they made doesn't and I think they got the dimensions wrong
I’ve read that silk reduces wrinkles because it causes less friction and doesn’t tug as much on your skin.
I wish they would have tried on the mask and scrunchie
It's a whole holiday mood
I loved this video! I been missing the diys, like don't get me wrong I love the makeovers but a variety is good as well ya know?
Yes!! China markers!!! I use one to label leftovers, mark expiration dates, identify my dishes (remember potlucks?!)
I’d absolutely love and appreciate some composting and or zero waste diys. Love that y’all try to help me stay in the sustainable mindset
For a standard pillow one yard of fabric will make a perfect sized case.
I’d love to see some minimalistic, nature-inspired sort of scandi decorations for the tree or around the house!
By the looks of the drape on the fabric you made the pillow slip with, I'd say that was a happy accident. Your "mistake" gave the hem better body than a single fold over would have.
I really want to see more videos on DIY holiday garlands! Like the sweater one your intern made.
Like the scrunchie idea but absolutely love the velvet mask with the scrunchie ear piece! Very innovative and definitely bougie! Sorry girls you guys hit this video out of the park!
I use left over boxes as filler boxes under the tree. I just gift wrap them, add a bow and put them under the tree!
My Tuesday lunch breaks are always so much better when your vids drop! 😌
Dude same
The last idea is great but if you have the budget I think it'd be good to laminate the cards to make sure they'll last and won't be stained by the food. Especially if you're offering them to someone who's not used to cooking.
I love the recipe cards, my daughter is always asking for my Grandmother's recipes that I have so I'll be doing this for her. I think I'll even buy one of those little box like the one my Grandmother had her recipe. Thanks girls for all these great ideas.
For the pillowcase, instead of hemming the inside seam allowances before sewing the pieces together, it is easier to use a French seam. This method encloses the raw edges in the seam. There are tons of tutorials on yt already but basically, you sew the pieces WRONG sides together, trim seam allowance, turn it so it's RIGHT sides together and sew it again as usual.
9:45 LMAOOOO 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Wth was that Kelsey 🤣🤣
I just finished bingeing all your old holiday content when this came out! Perfect timing
Looove these DIY's that you can send in the mail box. 😍 Really nice tips
1. Becky has the BEST hair! 2. I'm loving her berry/plum lip! Keep it up, sister!
Omg yay!! I’ve been wanting some diy ideas for my small photo printer!! Thank you!
You both always look beautiful, but I am especially loving the hair and outfits today!💗
French seams are best for a pillowcase because they are more durable than a basic hem.
The reason silk pillowcases prevent wrinkles is because the fabric is soft and not coarse like cotton or polyester so your skin doesn’t pull
Beckys FIT😩😩 she simply ate
So true about the pillow spray. At first I was like, this is unnecessary and now I’m addicted haha I wanted to make my own so this diy is perfect!
I got myself a silk pillowcase a while back I know I don't wake up with marks. I think it's supposed to tug less on your face too which helps with wrinkles cuz it's softer. I did notice a difference in my hair tho! Less knots, a little less matted
I love Becky's laugh :)
Suggestion? Use a hole protector sticker thing on the recipe cards so they last through the generations.
Really glad you guys are encouraging mask wearing! It came out really cute. However, the materials are wrong. Fashion fabric can be used for the outside, but 3 layers of tightly *woven* cotton is recommended. Woven is important, as knit (t-shirt material) has larger holes in it, and has been shown in to aerosolize water droplets in some trials. Meaning a knit mask might actually be worse than nothing at all.
If a pocket is left that would allow a filter to be inserted between the lining fabric and the front fabric, the mask shown in the video may work (but I'm not a doctor).
I love the idea of covering the elastic, it can start biting in after a while, and this looks comfortable and cute. The removable nose wire is also a great idea!
Also, I realise the government of canada has a mask tutorial using a t-shirt, but that hasn't been updated since the beginning of the pandemic. I'd much rather be safe and avoid questionable materials, and use verified ones. The most effective masks are a inner layer of quilting cotton, middle layer of polypropylene, and outer layer of quilting cotton. This perform the equal to or better than a surgical mask (the square blue masks, not an n95). Polypropylene is a weird material, so the next best is 3 layers of quilting cotton, which performs at roughly 95% of a surgical mask.
Cute gift ideas! Just keep in mind you can't ship liquids internationally (at least I know you can't between Australia and U.K./Europe, not sure on North America) and the post may discard your entire parcel if liquids are discovered during customs/quarantine. I learned this the hard way when trying to send a snow globe!
Love these ideas!! They all look to professional and well made. Thanks for the ideas!!
The recipe notes were so cute
Ugh, yes! Timely. Unique. Useful. We love a SorryGirls DIY video get it y'all 💜💜💜💜
For those in the US the dollar tree always has silk pillow cases! Surprisingly nice quality
Just in time for me to think of ideas for my best friend! We're exchanging gifts for our birthday as we were born on the same date. Thank you SG!
I love the little recipe card idea!
These are some brilliant ideas!! Love the recipe cards!
Decorating the office for Christmas
If you feed the tree boiling water, it will live longer. One year my family’s tree grew pine cones!
boiling water 😦 how tf
@@jostewart3192 it keeps the trunk from closing up and it absorbs the water easier. You have to do it once a day depending on water level. The owner of the tree farm we go to told us and we tried it, and it worked!
@@jacobgass3901 that’s amazing. I will try that with my tree :)
tbh I always find it interesting to see how creatively you incorporate the sponsor into the DIY!
yaaaasss the self-care gift is such a neat idea!
I love this! So creative and something new for the current situation ❤️
I'm doing the pillow cases this year, but backing it with flannel to stop it from slipping and sliding all over the bed. Save some $$ on silk and practical too. Just thought I'd share 😁
I love you gals : feisty Becky and sweet Ally. Your content is both inspirational and doable . I appreciate it when you ladies show what can also go wrong and how to think through solving any possible pitfalls. Merry Christmas to you and your awesome crew ! 🤗
.
Diy garden pot is such a cool idea, I will be copying for sure
Kelsey walking to the post box with presents and keeping them instead is a vibe
lol Kelsey 'sciencing' herself. The wrinkles thing with the pillowcase is because silk (or poly satin) is smooth, your skin will smooth out against it, and not bunch up or squish all night as much as with cotton. Silk is more breathable than poly satin though, so it's better for your skin.
I love these ideas. It is Oct. 2021, and I am looking for gift ideas. I saw some that I was quite inspired by. My niece, her partner, and their daughters all have long hair. The silk pillowcase and the scrunchies plus headbands both in red velvet or Christmas plaid would be wonderful and easy to mail- plus great for their skin and hair- which since the older ones are very self care conscious I think would be wonderful gifts.
I also really love the hand made recipe flip book. I had to switch to gluten free-dairy-vegetarian food a few months ago at my doctors recommendation, so am starting from scratch on how to cook most foods. I am lucky that there are so many pre-made gluten free and dairy free products on the market, but since I need to cook so much, now is the perfect time to start a new cookbook.
Thank you!
Loved the red velvet mask the most. So classy, elegant n perfect for holidays.
Love the idea of diy for the mail 🥺👌Love the red velvet mask 😳So festive 🎄✨How clever the pipe cleaner 😅And the recipe book is the cutest 🥺
This was awesome thanks for all the great ideas! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎄🎁🎄🎁
As someone who works in the healthcare field, here is some advise about fabric face masks from what I learned from my County’s Board of Health. Never use anything other than 100percent cotton. Quilting fabric works great. Never use another fabric as an outer layer. Never use what I refer to as athletic fabric. You know what I mean. Your masks need to be three layers of fabric. I repeat, 3 layers of fabric. If not. Make two layers with an open pocket on the inside and fold a tissue in thirds and place that folded tissue inside the mask. This is also great if you buy masks that are only 2 layers. Just cut it open and put the tissue inside. You can also add a wire if it didn’t come with one. Pipe cleaners like Becky used are great, so are bread ties.
Another note, when my work had to start wearing masks back in march, we didn’t have enough surgical masks for the first 7 weeks, so my boss’s mother in law sewed over 100 masks in 2 weeks. As a comparable replacement for a surgical mask, ours had to be 3 layers of fabric with a pocket with 2 tissues folded in half inside so we had 3 layers of fabric and 6 layers of tissues. We had to hand wash our own masks every day and replace the tissues every day or more as needed. The day we could permanently switch to 1 surgical mask a day was great. Now I have been wearing an N95 every day at work and a fabric mask feels like nothing when I wear them. Just counting down the days till we can wear kn95 masks, as they are more bearable.
Be safe everyone
I looovveeee Becky’s outfit in this!
That is really great!!! I wish my DIY projects got someone like you to motivate me.
Beckys hair looks gorgeous 😍😍
