Its almost TOO relaxing watching and listening to you work.
I use infinite shine, and sometimes it dulls, but after a week or so, I'm applying a second layer of top coat. I love how fast is drying and the look of it. The longest time I've had the polish on my nails was 16 days. It didn't chip, but the nails grew too much, and I had to remove it.
I'm slowly watching all your videos and if I hadn't loved them earlier I would definitely loved them now after hearing 'I don't want plants in my nail polish, I want good chemicals' 😀 ❤️

Thank you for doing this comparison. I too have noticed that the infinite shine dulls. I find it can last 10 days especially when I am able to avoid housework, like getting them done for vacation, as I realized that they are more prone to more chipping and wearing if I am doing dishes or using cleaning products.
OPI has gorgeous colors. They do have seasonal themed colors that come out for a short time only. They never keep those colors. Even the most popular. Top coats, I never use OPI top coats or base coats. Top coats bubble, dull and sometimes ripple where the colored polish has been applied a little thicker on the nail. I also can’t take 30 minutes to polish the nails. I don’t wait in between coats.
OPI Bond Aid is a great dehydrator. Not to be used on clients with very dry splitting nails. It makes their nails seam worse and white spots show up.
OPI colors do yellow the nails. Usually the colors that have a red # dye in them.
My go too base coat for OPI is the Original Nail Envy. It’s a thicker consistency and dries quick.
If I choose between the two I will go with infinite shine.
I’d like to know what you’re doing to that the wear looks great after two weeks. Especially with OPI.
When you manicure is it a wet or dry manicure?
Also have you ever done the two week test of a female client?
I’ve been using OPI for 34 years, I think. I’ve seen the company change formulas too many times. They’ve failed. They’ll never admit that there was a change, but you can’t fool us.
I love Dazzle Dry so far. I just wish that they come out with OPI colors. LOL. OPI has depth and richness to their colors that no other brand has.
Yes I have a Opi coral red (bought it 9 years ago) that stains like crazy even if apply base coat.... terrible... which brand has reds that don't stain?
What base and top coat you recommend?
I use totally different brands for base/top. In fact I use both OPI natural nail base followed by Orly bonder. Then my polish. I finish with Gelous top coat and Sally Hansen Insta dri (red bottle). I switch my polish every week but it always still looks great at the end.
Same...use orly bonder, OPI original color, then OPI original top coat...especially on my toes - it keeps them from chipping for a month!
I'm a fan of the Orly Bonder as well. And I usually use Seche Vive topcoat.

About that nail chipping, the nail length might have something to do with it. My nail polish chips a lot faster when my nails are long.

I started doing it after I started learning the basics of Sign Painting (with natural Squirrel-hair brushes!) that painters will coat the brush hairs with a “brush preserver” (aka, a light oil) after cleaning the off the enamel with solvents-keeps the hair pliable, strong, and keeps the shape. 👍
Also love that every time I have a wild thought about polishes and different formulas, y’all always come up. 👏

The soft pink in the Base is used for colour correction, i'd say: it gives a healthy fresh young look! Soft blue f.e. would reduce yellow (some nailpolishes leave yellow stain on the Nail, but usually not OPI or Essie, but cheaper Brands could cause that Problem)

My first Impression is that OPI Colours seem to be made for Catwalk (a lot of blue Undertones), while Essie screams for Outdoor Activities (also Jet-setting and Travelling, even the Queen likes the Shade #balletslippers). But I will think about it more and check if that can be the Case.
I also like Anny Cosmetics. They seem to be perfect for an Evening Look, if you want to improve your Opera Look or enhance your Dinner Outfit!
I do like the grey Polish on #hisNails a Lot! Why there are not more tattooed Guys with Nailpolish? I do NOT understand!! 🤔 I would pretty much go for matte Top Coat with the Guys. Just shiny Accents for Decoration. And I can imagine graphic Prints or Stamping, even Comic Characters like Goofy or Bugs Bunny, whatever, for Gents. ❤🧡💛
In Egypt at the Time of the Pharaos the People both Men and Women used Make Up! They stored it in beautifully decorated Boxes. The more People could effort, the more was spent to decorate them. 😉
I guess Revlon was the first Company who did Nail Polishes, I read it online. It was right after Colours for Cars that they did Colours for female Nails!

Another interesting Nail Chapter of History: Ancient Chinese Court (if you need an Idea: watch Chinese Series like #RuyiRoyalLoveInthePalace or #TheStoryOfYanxiPalace or #TheLegendOfHaoLan)
They had beautiful decorated Metal Covers for Pinky and Ringfinger, under which the Nail did grow. Maybe this did lead to Stiletto Nails? Who knows!
P. S.: The OPI grey (first Hand) had a bit more greenish Undertone. It looked more natural for him to my Opinion. I would definitely use it in combination with Camouflage Clothes.
The other Hand ✋ was more of a blue Undertone, Beach Wear or Navy Clothes! But anyway, both perfect Match with the Tattoos!! 😀 👍 👍 👍
P. S.: Thank you for saying the Nails need Oil for recovery. I think the same. My Nails are very thin and lift easily in the Front, that's why I have to keep them short.

About the gel components in the infinite shine one. I think it is in the top coat only ( same like we have with one other brand what we use in the salon, since the bottle is dark one)And with that another brand, it is mentioned that it will "cure" faster in the natural light. As per natural light they mean sunlight and the indoor light sources what emit the UV spectrum. Also we did try to fasten up the drying time by using the uv led lam in the lowest "heat" 30second mode ( the led lamps still emits heat :P and are not fully cool one ) and it did not help much with drying time.It also,with some colors,changed the tonality of those. So i do not see any benefit of going through that route. Also with those plain ol nail polishes, at salon we do not sadly have time to let the layers dry 5 min between the painting them on. So we they go one and then ppl just sit and wait them to dry. Thatś the sad story with the salon life, unless You work on Your own and handle Your own client base as You wish. Sometimes for clients i also suggest to paint on top coat every other day after salon mani was done and two of the clients who really did it. They managed to get the classical mani to last 1,5 to 2 weeks.

I work on my own and I still don't have the time to dry in between coats fully. The services would take too long which would make them too expensive (time is money when you work on your own too ;)

Beautiful color
It maybe staying on better because there is very little free edge. I find the movement in my tips makes my polish chip near the tips.
Very true, the shorter the nails, the less they bend. But even considering that some polishes simply chip on him even and don’t last as well.

Hi Crystal. Shorten them, use lots of good quality oil and keep them short until the damage grows out. Here is a video I did about damaged nails:

@@TheSalonLife Use a different word to dusty. 😁 Like "the forbidden D-word" nail polishes...🤭 Or perhaps "smoky"? I'm from Finland and when I talk about these dusty shades, I use the Finnish word "savuinen" which translates to English as smoky.
But I do use the word dusty when I'm speaking English. That would be "pölyinen" or "tomuinen" in Finnish, but I never use those words about nail polish when I'm speaking Finnish... Kinda weird, now that I think of it. 🤔

I am a manicurist myself and have used so many different systems on my nails over the years and I feel like no matter what “nail polish” that claims to be gel like I feel like they take a minimum of an hour to dry properly. They all dent and look funny imo. That is unless you use a actual gel that cures under UV light ot your using an acrylic type base. Anyhow, just my thoughts out loud! Haha! Just subbed also!❤️
I’ve been using the OPI infinite shine basecoat and topcoat for years. It seems that they may have changed the formula of the basecoat, as it seems to have a more stretchy or vinyl? surface and is more easily dinged and peels. In the beginning, I remember the basecoat being very thin and holding up much better and longer years ago. Can anyone verify?
Hi Toni! You are correct! The base coat was different, more watery and kind of purple. Apparently, the new one is an improved one....

I heard that the infinite shine line has better glitters so the color is amped up in comparison to the nail laquer. Is that true?
Nah, I mean Infinite Shine has a good formula for the most part but so does the original OPI line.

I was comparing the polishes as recommended by the manufacturer, full system. Yes, it was a BondAid (the retail version is called Chip Skip I believe)
What type of oil do you use on your brush?

I have no problem with companies putting plant-derived ingredients in their products as long as there's a purpose for them being in the formula. I suspect much of the time it's just greenwashing.

It was a joke. Non of the polishes have toxic ingredients. It’s all scare tactic marketing. Plants can be toxic too BTW. The plants mentioned in the polish by marketing companies don’t do anything for the nails other than sound “healthy”, especially in the tiny amounts at the end of the ingredient list.

Nail polish is not meant to be inhaled non stop without breaks. Used properly polish is not toxic. They always say to use it in properly ventilated area.
You can’t blame product for improper use.
I use polishes in my salon all day long. I do have a HEPA filter with carbon matt and another HEPA filter with 3 lb of carbon at my pedicure station because I use polishes all day.
When people polish their nails once a week or so for 10 minutes there is absolutely no risk of overexposure
