If you level out your panel thickness before you apply it to the cake you get a much more even ends result. I also have better luck with freezer paper for this technique because it’s a bit thicker and a bit sturdier.
Love this! I’ve already used this technique on 2 cakes. If you’re on Pinterest, then I’ll pin it and post the pics using your method (in the newer section that ask have you tried it).
I use this technique to apply buttercream to all of my cakes never thought about using to do a marble effect ❤️ but I use acetate sheets instead of parchment paper and there are no wrinkles to smooth out only the seam in the back
Awesome idea, acetate is brilliant! I’ve never seen tall acetate though, just the standard sheets (probably the size of standard notebook paper) or the thin rolls that are like 2 tall. I’ve never looked for taller sheets though so I’ll need to do some research. Do you tape a couple large sheets together? Personally, I love tall tiers; my standard sizes are usually 5-6”. Great video! Love this panel idea, can’t wait to see more videos. I appreciate that you made sure to say you used the upside down method because that’s such a clever trick👏🏻 I think somehow lying your panel on a large acrylic or something & mixing up a painterly type transfer would be cool too-perhaps simply painting on the cake with BC or a palette knife would make more sense lol anyway I love the technique. Thanks for sharing!
Did you notice you have not only marbling but you have like a face on the cake. Go back and watch the video again and you can see the hair eyes on the top of the cake. COOL! I've never seen this technique before , I really like your video.
dont know if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother recently xD
Love it!!! And perhaps it be better if once rhe cake has been in freezer withbthe crumb coat you ROLL IT ON THE PARCHMENT PAPER THATS ALREADY WITH THE MARBLE BUTTERCREAM, AS OPPOSED TO BRINGING THE PARCHMENT PAPER Up,and around the cake.
Yep! That's all I use now. This video was a rush to get it out before the San Diego cake show. Other creators using acetate got the idea from me while watching my demo there. 😉
Hi Thank you for your video .I have a question before making the marble effect the whole cake was spread with buttercream and then it was chilled right?
I also think that the cake was buttercream iced completely and chilled, to afterwards apply the marble buttercream on the wax paper and chilled again and smoothing it last.
This is way more helpful than the last video I saw on marbled buttercream! That tutorial was a long and drawn out process of simply painting it on with food coloring!
wow what a great tutorial. thank you for sharing your great ideas. you make it look so easy can't wait to give it a try. I love both the marble effect and rough texture.

I'm getting ready to post a updated video using acetate and it's much easier. 😉
Wow! I’ve never seen this technique before. Great tutorial 😀
Thank you. I have a updated video I'm about to post.
@@Christine-cf5uw Can you do this with gold buttercream?
Love this! I’ve already used this technique on 2 cakes. If you’re on Pinterest, then I’ll pin it and post the pics using your method (in the newer section that ask have you tried it).

I use this technique to apply buttercream to all of my cakes never thought about using to do a marble effect ❤️ but I use acetate sheets instead of parchment paper and there are no wrinkles to smooth out only the seam in the back
That's awesome! I'm getting ready to post a new video. This was the very beginning stages for me and I use acetate as well. :)
Does this technique work with shortening based buttercream?
Awesome idea, acetate is brilliant! I’ve never seen tall acetate though, just the standard sheets (probably the size of standard notebook paper) or the thin rolls that are like 2 tall. I’ve never looked for taller sheets though so I’ll need to do some research.

I'd also like to know where you source your acetate or if you just tape sheets together to achieve the size you need
Do you order acetate from n.v Amazon?
Love your Star Wars shirt!

There is a freakin FACE in the marbling! 😧
I may be the only one but I really liked the tall jagged look of the buttercream before you trimmed it. Could be a place for some very yummy stuff.
Ava Angel No I liked it too! She mentioned above using acetate helps avoid those waves I think that would look amazing
Woa please make more videos. Also be share how you did the top down method. Thanks
Thank you. I will also do a video on the upside down method.
you have just saved me a couple of hundreds $$ on the class:) Thank you for sharing!
Very clever technique!! Thanks for sharing.

I saw too haha
Thank you for sharing this!! Can I use any gel colors or does this have to be in water colors?
I used gel colors to do that. The key is not mixing it up all the way. You want it to still be really streaky.
Christine thank you!
Hola saludos desde lima, perú, me encanto el tutorial gracias por enseñar 🥰
What if we don't have freezer
Thanks very much
Would wax paper work?
Wow this is quite awesome
This creme is chokola
do you think this would work with cream cheese icing?
I'm not really sure because I don't work with cream cheese but I imagine if you altered it a little and added buttercream that it probably would.
Thanks for sharing, this is so amazing.😊
🤔👎
What paper is that ?
That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing!❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've got to make two cakes like this, this year, this has saved alot of trial and error.

acetate is far sturdier and gives a smoother finish
Yep! That's all I use now. This video was a rush to get it out before the San Diego cake show. Other creators using acetate got the idea from me while watching my demo there. 😉
